MOUNTAIN -Canadian Festival Express 1970 LAST COPIES!-Label:VOICEPRINT Scorching live recording by Leslie West's legendary band of rockers, recorded at the Canadian Festival Express in 1970. The tenth volume in the Mountain Bootleg Series was recorded on their Canadian Festival Express tour in 1971. As with all the other volumes in the series, all of the recordings come from Leslie West and Corky Laing's personal archives. Some of the performances are not sonically perfect, but the quality of the performances are never in question. When 1970 began, New York hard rockers Mountain were one of the most promising new bands. Their 1969 debut (while the album was titled “Mountain,” it was credited solely to Leslie West) had led to a highly coveted spot in the original Woodstock festival, thrusting the band was into the spotlight. By the year's end, due to their exceptional sophomore effort, “Climbing,” Mountain were one of the US's premier rock outfits CD $8 SKU:19503

MOUNTAIN -Live in San Bernadino, CA 1971 LAST COPIES!-Label:VOICEPRINT Mountain was formed in 1969 by guitarist Leslie West and bassist and former Cream producer Felix Pappalardi. The two met while West was a member of Long Island R&B band the Vagrants When West left the Vagrants to record a solo album it was agreed that Felix Pappalardi would produce the said album which was entitled Mountain. The sessions for the album went so well that it was decided that the pair would form a band and the band would take its name from Leslie’s album. So it was that Mountain was born. Joining Leslie and Felix was drummer N.D. Smart who had also played on Leslie’s album and keyboard player Steve Knight. The band started to gig and whilst the response was positive no one would have dreamed how big the audience would be for the bands fourth gig. In August 1969 Mountain along with the likes of the Who, Jefferson Airplane, Crosby Stills Nash and Young—and of course Jimi Hendrix—played at the Woodstock festival. CD $8 SKU:19504

MOUNTAIN BUS-SUNDANCE (70S GRATEFUL DEAD STYLE)Label:GEAR FAB The Grateful Dead sounding band that was sued by Windfall Music and Columbia Records for using the name "Mountain", although they actually had been together for 4 years before Mountain was officially formed!! MY EDUCATION -BAD VIBRATIONS (Texas psych)Label:STRANGE ATTRACT Described as "advanced ecstacy" by David Fricke in the pages of Rolling Stone, Austin, Texas instrumentalists My Education create sweeping, cinematic music evocative and of the high-lonesome expanse of the Texas Hill Country landscape they call home. Formed in 1999 and comprised of former members of Austin-area psych mainstays Stars of the Lid, ST37 and Cinders, the band has since played over 300 shows all over the United States, alongside like-minded artists Pelican, The Black Angels, Six Organs of Admittance, A Place to Bury Strangers, Isis and many others. Three full-length albums, several compilation appearances and multiple singles are to their credit, including a must-have 12" vinyl collaboration with avant hip-hop act Dalek released last year. Additionally, My Education have received the remix treatment by Kinski, Pelican, Red Sparowes and the aforementioned Dalek, and even have composed an original score to the F.W. Murnau 1927 silent film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, which premiered at the famed Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in March 2007. In short, the band has gotten around. The band sang many songs in English, despite their location, and gained their greatest popularity in Argentina, where they were huge stars. JOINT EFFORT -Final Effort (intriguing folk/rock/psych 1974)-Label:VOID/HALLUCINATIONS RECORDS (USA) With its immediately recognizable M C Escher cover, this intriguing folk/rock/psych release from 1974 is another incredibly rare album enjoying its first legitimate reissue. A Joint Effort's Final Effort was originally recorded and released by Canada's University Of New Brunswick on its Little Records label (Little Records 101); despite its lack of wider recognition, this is generally regarded by those who know as a diverse and eclectic album with a number of outstanding tracks. One pundit described it as 'a weird mix of early CSNY, with shades of Perth County Conspiracy and a dash of early Eagles thrown in.' The first side, with the superb 'Winter' is particularly impressive—largely acoustic hippy folk rock with the occasional electric guitar thrown in for good measure. Side two, however, is an altogether rockier affair with standout tracks 'Greed For Goldand,' an up-tempo fuzzed-out cover of ‘A Horse With No Name’ combining effectively to elevate Final Effort to a different musical plane. MORAZ, PATRICK- Out in the Sun(MOODY BLUES)Label:TIME WAVE Swiss born Patrick Moraz is probably best known in rock music circles for his membership of two of the world’s biggest rock bands, Yes and the Moody Blues. He was also been a member of the progressive rock band Mainhorse, forming the band with bassist Jean Ristori in 1969 and releasing one self titled album in 1970. By the time of the release of Moraz’s debut solo album in early 1976, he was firmly installed as the keyboard player in Yes. Following the release of Relayer all the members of Yes embarked on solo projects thus ensuring that his “The Story Of I” received maximum coverage in the music press. He then released his second solo album in 1977 (“Out In The Sun”) before joining the Moody Blues. As can be deduced from the title the second disc on offer here is a pairing of the first two Future Memories releases gathered together on one release. MOUNTAIN - Live At The Capitol Theater 1973 LAST COPIES!-Label:VOICEPRINT This King Biscuit Flower Hour concert was recorded in late 1973 at the Capitol Theatre in Passaic, New Jersey. By this point, the band had been through many of the cliche rock band phases: the breakup, the side-projects, a reunion with new members. The short version of the story is that the band split up, and Leslie and Corky hooked up with former Cream bassist/vocalist Jack Bruce to form the supergroup West, Bruce and Laing, with whom they put out a number of albums. Mountain later reunited, but during '73, the band went on a Japanese tour without Laing, because of an alleged dispute between him and Pappalardi. CD $6 SKU:19516

The music develops by the association, superposition, blendings of the themes (more than four-hundred and fifty on the second album!), original sound combinations (organ or bass as solo instruments, trumpet, saxophone, flute, drums, vocals...). The eponymous album was recorded in 1972, followed by the great "The World Of Genius Hans" twelve months later. MYLLA -VANJA (ultimate psychedelic party-band 70s sytle )-Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS Mylla came into fruitation at the now legendary illicit club/speakesy BZ in a Stockholm cellar. Mylla is the ultimate psychedelic party-band for the loosely knitted family of musicians centered around the Subliminal Sounds label (like Dungen, The Works, Life on Earth! and St. Mikael and many other Swedish psychsters). Were happy to finally be releasing their debut album "Vanya". The album was recorded in a limestone cottage at a secluded island far out in the Baltic Sea known by sailors for centuries as the "White Hawaii". The island Faro has been closed for all foreigners up until a few years as it contains several top secret army bases. The music is steeped in the Swedish 70s "Progg" tradition. Like Dungen the band sings in Swedish but unlike Dungen the Mylla experience might only be for the natives, but at least its no longer forbidden for anyone to try it out. Male/female vocals lament and serenade the quest for knowledge of love and beauty in an appealing soundscape, with lyrical guitar leads throughout, good use of mellotron, occasional tablas, flute and bells. The recording has a definite 1981 sound but (again, like Bobb Trimble) this somehow becomes an advantage. LIBERTY BELL - Thoughts and Visions 67-69 (Texas garage psych ) -Label:BREAKAWAY Corpus Christie, Texas 1967 - the town is a hotbed for young music groups. One of the local bands to cause attention is called The Zulus. The group plays local gigs, enjoys a certain popularity and a record deal is overdue. Carl Becker, co-owner of J-Beck Records, who had already managed the Zakary Thaks, offers the band a contract for his newly established Cee-Bee Label. On Beckers suggestion the band changes their name to LIBERTY BELL and in 1967 their debut 45 'The Nazz Are Blue' b/w 'Big Boss Men' gets released. The name Liberty Bell is indissoluble wedded with other self penned devasting garage recordings such as 'That's How It Will Be', 'For What You Lack' or the unreleased 'I Can See'. In 1968 lead singer Ronnie Tanner leaves the band and gets replaced by former Zakary Thaks lead singer Chris Gerniottis. The change in line-up and the arising spirit of time gives a more psychedelic edge to the band's sound and leads to another load of classic Gerniottis written scorching fuzz recordings such as 'Reality Is The Only Answer', 'Recognition' or 'Look For Tomorrow'.
