Both of them recorded one side of the album, which originally only existed on two acetate records. It contains epic neo classical prog rock in the style of Renaissance and Continuum, inspired by the wild and pagan isles of St Kilda. The second part of the album has intense Cohen-like songs which were the result of the heartaches and homesickness of a Canadian student who went to university in the UK. CD $19 SKU:24919

GLASS MENAGERIE - HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHO WE ARE?-ANTHOLOGY 1968-69' (psych)Label:TIME BOX The Glass Menagerie emerged in the late 1960s, in the Lancastrian backdrop of Burnley in the north of England. A move to London in 1968 led to a handful of singles with Pye before changes within the band marked a new chapter under Chas Chandler. A rapidly changing music scene and a lack of investment eventually took its toll on the band who split at the tail end of the decade. From 1968 to 1969, they recorded five singles, and various sessions for Top Gear, Saturday Club, and host Brian Matthew. The majority of songs from these live sessions, would be heading towards their unreleased album. FALLOUTS - COMPLETE WORKS (60s)ORANGE WITH INSERT) Label:FUNCKTONE The story of The Fallouts starts in 1961 when they first got together in the Deken Frankenstraat in Valkenswaard (NL). In the early days covers from Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran and Chuck Berry were favourites in their set. From 1964 until 1966 they had a weekly residency in Dancing Hotel Royal aka Bosje, named after landlord Floor Bos. When they made it to the grand final of "De Gouden Micro," a Belgian competition for beat bands, their popularity increased. The final took place in 1965 at Het Sportpaleis in Antwerpen (BE). In 1965 The Fallouts recorded their single 'De Vlieg'/'Hartstikke Dood' at the Madeleine-studio in Brussel, but unfortunately the Belgian record bosses thought the lyrics were too freaky. At that time in the Netherlands freaky Dutch lyrics were quite popular. For example, pop-art band Het stormed the Dutch charts. They re-recorded the songs at the ELA Philips Studio in Eindhoven with producer Theo Wytzes. Despite the fact it's a collectors item now, in 1966 it didn't score and only 500 were sold. Because of this they decided to switch from Dutch to English. In 1967 The Fallouts recorded 'I'm Sick Of Living'/'I've Been Waiting' at the GTB Studio in The Hague. They played it in the famous Willem Duys show, during the first Dutch TV broadcast in colour! Sadly the second single wasn't a big succes either. A third single 'Clouds'/'Pickpockets' was planned but that never happened because in 1968 the band fell apart. Will Theus started a duo with Josien van Och called Peggy and Donald. In 1982 there was reunion concert in "Bosje" and The Fallouts have been playing ever since! On the 24th of April 2022 they will play their last concert in Valkenswaard. Mastered by Arjan of The Kik. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Flux is ex-Babe Ruth, ex-Motiffe, with lead guitar by John Grimaldi before he joined Argent and worked on their prog masterpiece 'Circus'. This album is taken from a mono mastertape recorded on a BBC Mobile Unit at a live gig in 1973. A shocked Record Mirror journalist witnessed the concert and described it in a published Record Mirror review as 'a new form of music'. Sound quality is great and this is a band in top form playing exactly what they want, in a zone a bit like King Crimson's 'Red', but with insane guitar leads that bludgeon the listener to death. The vocalist later joined Italian prog rockers Flea On The Honey. Play this with a hangover and you will die in screaming agony. One very short track, and four very long ones. ELMER GANTRY’S VELVET OPERA--ST (Top notch UK psych album from 1968)Label:GUERSSEN Top notch UK psych album from 1968, officially reissued on vinyl for the first time. Original artwork, sourced from the original masters, and includes insert with cool photos and liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things). Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera evolved from R&B/soul band The Five Proud Walkers. All of the band members - Elmer Gantry (lead vocals), Colin Forster (guitar), John Ford (bass) and Richard Hudson a.k.a. Hud (drums) - were accomplished musicians with several years of work experience on the on the beat and R&B circuit before their psychedelic rebirth in the summer of 1967. With their colorful image and explosive live shows, the band soon became a favorite on the London club scene, securing a deal with the CBS subsidiary label Direction. In 1967 they released their first single, 'Flames', a minor hit that was even covered by the embryonic Led Zeppelin and was also included on the famous CBS budget compilation album 'The Rock Machine Turns You On'. In early 1968, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera registered their self-titled debut, now considered a post-mod psychedelic classic. Influences of psych-era Beatles, Who, Small Faces, Beach Boys or early Pink Floyd are noticeable, but the band brings their own personality and offer a set of brilliant and varied songs with inventive arrangements. Highlights include the sitar laden 'Air', the terrific 'Mother Writes', driven by a killer bass line, 'Dream Starts' (a lysergic number complete with backward tapes and vocals-through-a-Leslie), the catchy pop-psych of 'Mary Jane', a terrific cover of Oscar Brown Jr.'s 'I Was Cool', or the Mellotron-fuelled 'Long Nights Of Summer' and 'Reaction Of A Young Man'. By July 1968, when the album was released, Elmer Gantry's Velvet Opera had a new lineup. Colin Forster exited, and Paul Brett (ex-Tintern Abbey) took his place. They eventually disbanded in 1969 and a new line-up emerged as Velvet Opera, releasing an album. Later, Elmer played with Stretch and he also recorded with the Alan Parsons Project, Jon Lord, and Cozy Powell. John and Hud went on to success in the seventies with the Strawbs. LP $28 SKU:24937

Label:OLD BAD HABITS The Yellow Melodies bring us 'Pleasant dreams', a tribute to their favorite Ramones album, which was originally released on 20th July 1981, so the gorgeous band from Murcia have made their release coincide with the 40th anniversary of that fantastic album produced by Graham Gouldman. They have taken the songs to very different places, changing the electric guitars and distortion for synthesizers, glockenspiels, acoustic guitars, strings, keyboards and above all, vocal harmonies, extracting as much pop as possible from those original punk songs.
