RISING STORM-I'm Coming Home/She Loved Me-Label:PENNIMAN RECORDS (Spain) Remastered sound. Hard cardboard sleeve with never-before-seen pictures and liner notes by Greg Prevost. Limited edition of 400.
The Rising Storm were six students at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, who formed a garage band that performed from 1965 to 1967 and, within this brief time, recorded an amazing album called Calm Before . . . This 45 honors the 2015 50th anniversary of the band's 1965 inception. It is the only authorized vinyl pressing of two of the most powerful original numbers on Calm Before . . . ("I'm Coming Home" and "She Loved Me") since the album's original 1967 release (when only 500 LPs were pressed) and it is also the only 45 of The Rising Storm's music. 45 RPM $15 SKU:17450
SPACEMEN 3-Live at the New Morning, Geneva, Switzerland, 18.05.1989-Label:SPACE AGE (UK) First CD edition of Live at the New Morning, Geneva, Switzerland, 18.05.1989 by Spacemen 3, originally released in 2014 as a limited-edition vinyl-only release on Swiss label Mental Groove Records. Fold-out card wallet featuring liner notes by Sonic Boom and previously unseen photographs. Digitally remastered by John A. Rivers at Woodbine Street studio in 2015. Recorded in Geneva, Switzerland, during Spacemen 3's 1989 European tour, while the band was in sublime form, this release further cements their reputation as one of the most influential and seminal bands of the space rock and drone rock worlds. As Sonic Boom recalls, "I seem to remember this show more distinctly than most, and always did. Spacemen 3 was a band not overly loved in their day. It was tough, or at least uneasy. Musically people thought we were some sort of twisted joke. Which in some ways we were. You needed to be bloody-minded to make this music at that time. The set presented here, is as it was . . . except the show was twice this length. We tuned and smoked for almost as long as we played. And then our disenfranchise moment, installed to filter the wheat from the chaff in our audiences -- the sprawling 'Suicide' wheeled out here in a long mischievous version. We slipped away mid-song amongst much fog and dry ice. With taped down keys and feeding back guitars propped against our speaker cabs keeping the song pulsating and screaming. Disappearing back down to the already too familiar dressing room. We rolled large smokes and cracked fresh drinks. And finally after an extended 'break' re-appeared on stage. Not to wind down as normal at that juncture, but to re-fire up the piece for a further onslaught. Extending the maelstrom as bloody mindedly as we could. We always 'sensed' when we were unwanted . . . which was most of the time we left the cosy confines of our white 'sprinter' van. Never get out of the van . . . fucking tigers! But then again . . . maybe . . . just maybe . . . and it's only a maybe . . . maybe l don't remember a thing." CD $21 SKU:17457

BACHS- Out of the Bachs - remastered 180 gram virgin vinyl (60s garage psych)- Label:OUTSIDER Restocked; '60s garage-psych moody monster! Includes insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos.Out of The Bachs was originaally released in 1968 as a private pressing of 150 copies; it's one of the rarest USA '60s garage/teenbeat albums ever. The band consisted of five young kids from Chicago, regulars at local teen dances, who decided to release an album for their fans before splitting up. Recorded and mixed in just ten hours at a makeshift studio, Out of The Bachs offers 12 amazing self-penned songs with a sound ahead of its time. Pure teenage-angst vocals, crashing Rickenbackers, fuzz outbursts, killer moody tracks... Sadly, all previous reissues of the album failed to capture the true sound of the original, until the Time-Lag label reissued it in 2011 with remastered sound from a pristine original vinyl copy. This reissue uses the same audio master as the out-of-print Time-Lag edition. File next to The Rising Storm, The Fantastic Dee-Jays, The Savages. Includes insert with detailed liner notes and rare photos. LP $26 SKU:13382

PURE HELL-Noise Addiction (1978 recordings)-Label:BEAT GENERATION (Spain) Beat Generation presents a reissue of Pure Hell sole full-length album, recorded in 1978 but not released until 2006. In 1974, on the streets of Philadelphia, a band unlike any other was formed. They called themselves Pretty Poison. They had a sound so ahead of its time that the music industry was not yet ready for it. They coupled the punk sound of the New York bands of the time with a harder, faster heavy metal edge unheard before. Their unique sound was a result of Kenny Gordon's berserk choreography and Preston Morris's needling guitar riffs, while Steel and Spider added synchronized barrage with no nonsense execution to the arsenal. Inspired by the famous fuel-altered dragster, they changed their name to Pure Hell in 1975. Soon after, they moved to New York City where they played with bands like the New York Dolls, Sid Vicious, Wayne County and the Electric Chairs, The Dead Boys, The Stimulators, Richard Hell,The Germs, The Nuns, The Cramps and more. In 1978 Pure Hell headlined a tour of the UK, with bands like the UK Subs, Wilko Johnson, Vermilion & the Aces and more opening for them. While in the UK, their only original record was released. It was a single released by their manager Curtis Knight on his label, Golden Sphinx Records. The songs on the single were "These Boots Were Made for Walking" and "No Rules." The single charted in the top 40 charts in the UK. During the same year, a full length album was recorded but was never released. It did not surface again for 28 years. Limited edition of 500 copies. SEARCHING IN THE WILDERNESS - VA ( raw, rare mid-'60s rock, UK ) -Label:MUZIEK EXPRESS While this compilation might prove mighty hard to track down, it's one of the better anthologies of raw, rare mid-'60s rock, concentrating exclusively on bands from the U.K. and Europe (i.e., this is not a "garage" compilation in the classic sense). Some of these groups enjoy a cult reputation, especially the Dutch ones (the Outsiders, Q65, Cuby & the Blizzards, the Motions); most will draw blanks even on the faces of specialist record store owners. Still, if you like the R&B/mod of the Pretty Things or the Who and are looking for stuff in that mode that's less polished, this is a good place to land. The Red Squares' "You Can Be My Baby" is as good as the best London 1966 mod; the Buzz's "You're Holding Me Down" is one of British producer Joe Meek's hardest-rocking sessions; Jimmy Page plays a raunchy session guitar lead on Sean Buckley's "Everybody Knows"; and the Outsiders' "Won't You Listen" is one of the wildest, most unhinged beat/punk performances of all time. There's also a rare and basic unreleased mid-'60s song by the Kinks (who are identified as the "Muswell Ravens" on the cover), "All Aboard." “Richie UnterbergeR COMP CD $12 SKU:332

EL PASO ROCK - Vol 6 - Label:NORTON Raw rock from the El Paso scene of the early 60s – most of it material produced by local music hound Calvin Boles – a force as important to that scene as Lee Hazlewood was to Phoenix! Boles has a great ear for a sharp guitar line – and really manages to bring the best out of all the players here, giving the tunes an echoey feel that's mighty nice – and which really serves to fan the sparks of genius into a much longer-burning flame! Norton's done a great job with this volume – and have managed to unearth some rare Bobby Fuller tracks, along with gems from contemporaries on the Yucca and Exeter labels. Titles include "Black Out" and "Tickler" by The Sherwoods, "Hot Rod Ford" by DY & The Motivaters, "Lonely" by David Hayes & The Pawns, "Pawn" by The Pawns, "You Hold My Letters" by Bill Taylor & The Sherwoods, "Judy" by The Chancellers, "Dance To The Palisades" by Frank Gonzales & The Palisades, and "You're In Love" and "Say Honey" by Bobby Fulle COMP LP $13 SKU:15231

Lovingly (as always) put together with pull out liner notes and wrap around sleeve. LP 1: WOODEN SPOON delight us with their pastoral introspection. Influenced by the Takoma school of guitar players, POPOL VUH and folk music from around the world. ROB MULLENDER takes the other side with some solo acoustic pieces that owe much to heroes of the English guitar in BERT JANSCH, JOHN RENBOURN and others. LP2: THE EDIETIC BAND is working throughout the different musical diagrams, those both fictional and unreal folk, noise, drone, jazz..etc.... traditions which inform ways of feeling sound and its context deeper and deeper. Side B....THE LADYWOODSMAN is a London based duo of Luke Garwood and Paul May. Using a variety of different instruments from guitars, clarinets to all kinds of percussion in the creation of improvisations that ignite the imagination. Some tracks have a real down home folky feel, while others could find themselves happily nestling amongst the free jazz greats of the late 60's. Very ltd. pressing. RAKS! RAKS! RAKS! PERSIA'S 60'S- VA ( 60s 70s Iran garage psych ) w full color insert and liners SAALE-Label:RAKS RECORDS 17 Golden garage psych nuggets from the Iranian 60's scene.. As with almost all Asiatic countries, the Shadows and the Ventures seem to be the true and primal influence in the Iranian music scene of the most part of 60s for the rock sound and attitude to penetrate the country's fledgeling record industry and its swinging public base. In 1964, the legendary Top4 company opened up and started releasing choice chart hits from the worldwide lists, on 4-track EPs, followed soon by MonoGram and other companies. These mixed up records featured a lot of popular songs of the day, spanning the whole European continent i.e. including what's referred to now as 'Euro pop' hits and the 'big brothers', UK and US charts. The day's youth back then was lucky: they could follow the West moment by moment now. The foremost impact of these were to feature and spread British invaders, The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, otherwise available only on radio. Come 1966, 60s was in full swing in Iran too! RADIO MOSCOW - 3 and 3/4 PURPLE VINYL - Label:ALIVE This is Radio Moscow’s previously unreleased debut album. Recorded entirely by Parker Griggs (he plays all the instruments and even designed the cover) when he was only 17-18, this is garage music reminiscent of the Nuggets and Pebbles compilations, with a dash of Killed By Death dropped into the mix; it’s where it all started for the six string boy wonder. LP $15 SKU:5447
RATS ( pre Dead Moon ) - ST ( 80s Garage Punk ) -Label:MISSISSIPPI 2014 repress, originally released in 2008. "First LP, recorded in 1979 by Portland punk legends - the Rats. Fred and Toody Cole of Dead Moon, Pierced Arrows, The Range Rats, The Weeds, The Lollipop Shop and a million other bands along with Rod Rat present a punk rock masterpiece. Stripped down and lo fi. The record has a slight psychedelic edge and some definite roots in early rock and roll. The record that started to define the aesthetic that would later inform what Fred and Toody accomplished with Dead Moon. Nuts and bolts great songwriting on songs such as Teenagers, World war 3, Social Indigestion and more. LP $17 SKU:9259
SAN UL LIM - THE FIRST LP (Gentle garage-psych with a dreamy west coast flair)-Label:GRANADILLA MUSIC (GERMANY) Gentle garage-psych with a dreamy west coast flair and tons of awesome fuzzed-out guitars... with Korean-language lyrics. Originally released in 1977, South Korean trio San Ul Lim's debut album sounds like the best psychedelic power pop and garage stuff you could get in the UK and USA ten years before its release. One of the most popular acts on the Korean scene, San Ul Lim had exactly this typical 1966 garage sound, with fuzzy axes and some thin but sympathetic Farfisa organs. These compositions were conceived between 1971 and 1975, and, with their heartwarming vocal melodies and gifted musicianship, are heavily reminiscent of The Zombies, though San Ul Lim play in a much more direct fashion. Their music represents a movement from early beat to heavier and darker garage rock, which finally shifted into psychedelic rock. Fans of proto-garage beat with psychedelic tinges from 1965 to 1967 will go wild for this album. Other reference points include The Flies (UK, pre-T2) and The Petards (Germany). A lovely flashback to the golden age of music. LP $22 SKU:16754
SMOGTOWN - Domesticviolenceland-Label:DISASTER Records Color vinyl woth one non-CD bonus track. Great 2nd album by OC punk rock wonders. A future classic! “There's been lots of legendary bands to come out of Orange County in the last twenty years. High atop that list sits Smogtown.” - X2RnR. “Smogtown keep the punk-rock (with the dash) flame alive. Some stand out tracks include "Neutron Blond", my favorite track; "Sneaking Out", "Breakdown Shakedown" the title track itself, "Domesticviolenceland" where Chavez sings, "This new development/ We'll pack the robots in/Rows of printed houses/is the goal for them'...." Fucking eerie. Cutting like a modern form of DI in content, Smogtown's music is the after effect of a movie like Suburbia.... If only Penelope Spherris would do a REAL legitimate sequel to Suburbia: 20 years after where we would find out what happened to the original cast lives and how they dealt with "growing up" and how some of them would interact with their children who would listen to bands like Smogtown...just a thought. “ - Blank Generation LP $5 SKU:4842
SONICS- Boom ( 60’s garage ) GATEFOLD - Label:NORTON The Sonics' second album is every bit as explosive and influential as their debut outing, loaded with gritty Northwest rock & roll. Sandwiched in between the abrasive classics of "Cinderella" and "Don't Be Afraid of the Dark" (with the Wailers on backing vocals), the funk sass of "The Hustler" and "Shot Down," the demonic "He's Waitin'," and the sledgehammer, inside-out version of "Louie, Louie" (only three chords to play and they don't even play 'em) are the band's straight-ahead takes on old R&B chestnuts like "Skinny Minnie," "Let the Good Times Roll," "Don't You Just Know It," "Since I Fell for You," "Hitch Hike," and a nice barn-burning version of "Jenny Jenny." Where the Wailers cut down the trees and paved the highway, the Sonics were the first group from their neck of the woods to take that music somewhere wilder than their original inspirations. The second chapter of Northwest rock & roll after you absorb the Wailers' Golden Crest sides. -allmusic.com LP $15 SKU:152
STEPPES - Alive-Alive Oh-Live ( Psych-folk masterpiece ) Label:Voxx - Their penultimate release, recorded live in Germany, shows why European audience were so enamored of this band. European tour recordings with bonus tracks LP $5 SKU:2140

TELESCOPES - # Untitled Second - BLACK ( psych rock shoegaze) - Label:BOMP The Telescopes were among the most innovative and challenging yet successful artists in Creation Records' "middle period", a leading part of the wave of sonic experimenters who included Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum and Spiritualized. Towards the end of their time with Creation, they made their most fully realized album yet, "#' (untitled second). This is the first time this great psychedelic album is being released in the US, and it comes with 3 bonus tracks. "The songs are built on acoustic guitars, then the tricked-out electric guitars are laid on top and garnished with bongos, organs, pianos, and all sorts of classic instruments. Stephen Lawrie's vocals are restrained and semi-emotional and female backing vocals add a touch of sweetness that might otherwise be missing from the record, as the overall atmosphere is very moody and introspective." - AMG LP $14 SKU:16704
