BROWN SPIRITS -ST Label:OFF THE HIP Collating a love of Hammond-driven Kraut-laden psych jams, down-tempo beats and elements of atmospheric guitar noise inspired by the Italianlibrary/soundtrack genre. Think early 70's German underground experimental rhythms meets Pink Floyd circa-69 with a dash of benzo-riddled insanity from a vintage super 8 'adult' film and you start to get the picture CD $12 SKU:19315
CATZILLA -ST (Inspired by the monster B-movies and garage sounds of the 60s)Label:OFF THE HIP Inspired by the monster B-movies and garage sounds of the 60s, CATZILLA burst onto the Perth scene 18 months ago, with a self-released vinyl EP "Going Wild”. Since then they’ve performed at one of the legendary Back From The Grave garage events in Tokyo and played with Japan’s no.1 60s beat combo the Neatbeats. ROCKET TO MEMPHIS-JUNGLE JUICE- (Female fronted rockabilly ) IMPORTLabel:OFF THE HIP Female fronted rockabilly from perth. Wielding a distinctive, off-kilter take on rockabilly, swamp & garage rock n roll, ROCKET TO MEMPHIS left audiences in a state of dishevelment in cities as far-flung as London and Tokyo. For their 4th album, the band has once again worked with Matt Verta-Ray (Jon Spencer's Heavy Trash) and it buzzes with an intensity that reflects the New York hurricane conditions in which it was mixed! “Do The Crawl” invites you on a hip-dislocating ride through a fresh batch of infectious tunes and wild sounds. From the irresistible “GoGo” - a rock n roll stomper which opens the album, Betty Bombshell and the gang drag you through rockabilly ("Turn It On"), Diddley-esque swamp ("Swamp Guy"), the sexy "In Black and White" and finish up with "Rockin' All Night" - which you surely will be if you follow this simple 11 step programme! ROSS DE CHENE HURRICANES- LOWLIGHTS (GARAGE PUNK) -Label:OFF THE HIP Eddy Current Suppression Ring styled rock from Melbourne” With their tough-as-nails garage rock attack, Ross De Chene Hurricanes proudly celebrate the tradition of garage punk. You can hear the attitude in the Black Lips-ish ‘Sun Don’t Set When You’re Cool’ – what’s youth for if you can’t muscle through the toughest situation with a bulletproof sneer and a casual wink? Then there’s the specious culinary analysis of ‘TV Dinner’, all post-Ramones simplicity and domestic banality; the Digger and The Pussycats-like introverted pop psychology of ‘Personality Disorder’; and the King Khan-inspired career counselling of ‘In A Rut’.If you want to sit back on the couch and gaze into the distance thinking fondly of Sic Kidz’s ‘LSD’, then cop a listen to ‘I’ve Been Thinking’ and get your life in some sort of chaotic mess. Then comes ‘ADHD’, nominating a psychological condition to explain everything stupid you’ve done in your life, just in time for the Weezering musing of ‘Getting Old’ to remind you that bigger shit’s going to happen sometime soon. Maybe that’s what the LA-punk-spiked ‘Everything’ is about; a white flag in the face of unavoidable psychological and vocational complexities. But then comes the band’s eponymously titled track, a Ted-Nugent-in-a-garage slice of rock’n’roll comfort that makes you realise garage rock is and always will be where it’s at.” CD $8 SKU:19250
SMART PATROL- Overage Underachievers (POWER POP PLIMSOULS STYLE)Label:OFF THE HIP “Debut-album by thee best power-pop band that ever saw the light of day here in Krautsville !!!The band may be pretty new, but the names do ring a bell: Michi Mueller (ex MERRICKS), Christoph Strohmeyer (ROYAL FLARES), Carsten Knappe (ex CHOCOLATE FACTORY) and Harry Vogel (ex HEARTBEATS) have been active for a long time in ardently loved bands of the international sixties-scene, and their much sought-after records have achieved legendary status over the years.ButSmart Patrol are far from being just another sixties-influenced band!Thefour guys from Munich joined forces to fuse classic songwriting of the sixties with the sound, power and attitude characteristic of the music revolution of 1976-1978 and this resulted in 12 one-of-a kind powerpop gems
wrappedin a tailor-made suit of hooks and melodies on their new LP "Overage Underachievers".But don't mistake them to be retro: the four guys all started out in punk-influenced bands, so in the end they've only gone back to their roots, or as they sing in their tribute to Munich'sAtomic Café: "It's time to get back to basics" So what you get here is an album packed with perfect shots of power poppin' 70’s mod-punk that would be all over the radio in an ideal world. Ifyou dig the CHORDS, the INCREDIBLE KIDDA BAND, the POINTED STICKS, the PLIMSOULS, the YUM YUMS and KURT BAKER, you certainly can’t do without SMART PATROL!!! CD $12 SKU:19314
SPINE 96- ST (90s style rock, pop, psych and punk)-Label:OFF THE HIP Spine 96 is a web of rock, pop, psych and punk that captures the essence of '90s guitar, bass and drums - with a rock base that spans the decades but isn't exclusive to any genre. The four piece band from Adelaide has members that hail from psychedelic lords Dandelion Wine, the alternative rock of Screaming Believers, the psych fuelled pop of Paradise Interchange and the punk driven band Grog. Their debut album has tracks that explore alienation, belonging, potato headed politicians, plasticine people and prophets of profit.CD $12 SKU:19182
VILLENETTES- LADY LUCK(girly/garage/surf/rockabilly) Label:OFF THE HIP The Villenettes are a rock’n’roll girl gang from Adelaide, Australia. They love Elvis, bad horror movies, leather jackets, and running amok on a Saturday night. They play loud riff-driven songs about zombies, cowboys and jerks and sound a bit like The Shangri La’s jamming with The Ramones, with Poison Ivy on guitar. They want to make you dance like the devil and party like it’s 1959.
CD $8 SKU:19251
ZOOBOMBS- The Ultimate Collection (supersonic Tokyo band)- Label:OFF THE HIP The supersonic Tokyo band somehow morphed from Stonesy punk-rock maniacs to freaky jazz-rock jammers without missing a beat, or losing a tad of their record-breaking intensity.Band leader Don Matsuo repeatedly risked everything, pushing the audience to the brink with endless jams before dissolving into a gloriously noisy release.” - Toronto Sun. Includes twelve of Zoobombs greatest hits, including the infectious party groove of 'Mo Funky' and the explosive energy of 'South Central Rock'. CD $8 SKU:19242

LIVERPOOL TODAY-- VA LIVE AT THE CAVERN SALE(60s Merseybeat )Label: FANTASTIC VOYAG 1965! Released in November 1965 on the independent Ember label, Liverpool Today documents a rare slice of Merseybeat, made doubly collectable by its association with the legendary Liverpool venue, the Cavern. In a move that was not uncommon in the sixties, the recordings were actually made in a studio, albeit the neighbouring Cavern Sounds and were then overdubbed with audience reaction plus announcements by compere Bob Wooler. A truncated version of the album was released in the United States on Capitol. This reissue has been mastered from original tapes and marks the album s debut on CD. Sleeve notes are by Spencer Leigh, presenter of BBC Radio Merseyside's On The Beat. His books include volumes devoted to Merseybeat and the Cavern. Tracks by artists s.a. PICCADILLY SUNSHINE - Part 4 (British Pop Psych)SALE -Label:PAST & PRESENT (UK) The 20 songs on this disc are significantly more "pop" than "psych," with nearly all dominated by polished arrangements and studio-savvy production rather than wailing guitars and a reach into the center of the mind, though the feeling and themes certainly make these sides products of the late '60s. "Conventional Fella" by Jago Simms is a gentle satire of white-collar complacency in the manner of "Matthew & Son" or "A Well Respected Man," while Joyces Angels ' "Flowers for My Friends" concerns some bohemian foliage enthusiast and "Musical Man" by Paul Raven is written from the perspective of a similarly addled muso. (Paul Raven would gain greater fame as Gary Glitter, making him the best-known/most-infamous figure on this collection, though Billy Bremner of Rockpile also pops up, playing guitar on the Jago Simms session.). Fans of British pop looking for a clean and well-mannered psychedelic experience should find this collection to be just their cup of tea. by Mark Deming- COMP CD $10 SKU:11730

THOR'S HAMMER - ST ( Icelandic garage legends! 65-67)Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS A deluxe edition, hand-numbered and limited to 1,000 copies, pressed on 180g vinyl.Danish band’s Metronome album (1971), the one and only record by one of those groups that promised much, but never went further than an eponymous debut; their music was close to Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Blast Furnace and the jazzy style of bands like Traffic, with long tracks with killer wah-wah guitars, swirling organs, wild vocals and twisted psychedelic sax-breaks; ‘Mexico’ is perhaps the most effective track on the album (paraphrasing the well-known sax riff from Traffic's "Freedom Rider"), although the whole record is strong. Their one and only LP holds the sad record of being the most bootlegged LP in Denmark. This first legal LP reissue is accompanied by a 4-page insert in LP format, containing a detailed band history in German, English and Danish language, a comprehensive discography including side and solo projects, cover and label reproductions, and band photographs. TIN HOUSE- ST (70s powerhouse rock) w liners, rare photos, insert plus pic slv EP -Label:LION Tin House were so good—their music was a hard-rocking onslaught of lust, chops and powerhouse riffs that gripped like an alligator bite—they were signed to Epic Records out of high school. They were respected by Leslie West and Johnny and Edgar Winter. Their album (released in 1971) was produced by Rick Derringer. But like other almost famous bands, Tin House fell away into unjust obscurity. Tin House's focus was on heavy rock like the sex-fueled opener, ‘I Want Your Body,' and standout track ‘Be Good and Be Kind,’ with a catchy up-and-down, down-and-up riff played adeptly by guitar prodigy Floyd Radford, and a driving monster beat laid down by drummer Mike Logan; the song tears in as a fast as a Florida hurricane and sweeps the listener up into its vortex for two-and-a-half minutes of energized bliss. Yet the album also showed diversity: Radford’s melancholy ballad ‘Tomorrow;’ the jivin’ honky tonk of ‘30 Weight Blues’ (a tribute to the band’s 1962 Ford Econoline van); ‘Lady of the Silent Opera,’ which featured orchestration by seasoned studio musicians from New York City’s Local 802 Union to underscore its positive message of “look to the heaven—smile to the blue sky.” This Lion Productions reissue includes everything Tin House recorded for Epic, including two previously unreleased tracks and the elusive (and unique) single versions of 'I Want Your Body' and 'Be Good and Be Kind'—all taken directly from 24-bit/96kHz master tape transfers. Four panel insert has liner notes by Doug Sheppard (Ugly Things) and photos from the archive of drummer Mike Logan. Lean, fluid, tight, and the best hard rock album from the USA you probably never heard of (until now)!"In the twinkling universe of virtuoso electric guitarists that followed in the wake of the genre’s progenitor Jimi Hendrix, perhaps one of the most deserving of renewed recognition is Floyd Radford of the band Tin House... the overdriven, fluid guitar work—heavy on the wah-wah pedal—is brought to the fore by a beefy full production that lifts the band above the sludgy audio presentation that bedevilled many heavy rock albums of the era." —Richard Allen, Shindig! Magazine

TITUS OATES Jungle Lady (Texas 74 rarity)-Label:OUT-SIDER *Insert with detailed liner notes and photosFirst ever legit vinyl reissue of this progressive hard-rock private pressing from Texas, 1974.Excellent dual guitars, keyboards, melodic vocals, West Coast touches…Think Allman Brothers, early ZZ Top, Wishbone Ash, Homer...Top notch pro-sounding recording and superb musicianship. “Jungle Lady” saw the light in two different pressings: the original white label LIPS vinyl from 1974 is the first pressing, and the red LIPS label is a remix done later in Nashville, possibly around 1975. This Out-sider reissue is taken from the remix version, as it was always believed to be “hotter” than the original pressing. One of the classics since the early days or rare psych records lists, championed by influential tastemakers such as Paul Major. *Master tape sound LP $24 SKU:17711
TRAFFIC- Mr Fantasy-Label:VINYL LOVERS (ITALY) 2008 release. UTHER PENDRAGON-San Francisco Earthquake 3LP -previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975. BOX SET -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (Spain) Three-LP box version in purple-and-gold hot-foil-stamped box with eight-page insert and poster. A treasure trove of previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975. "Uther Pendragon was more than just a band, it was a family. Closer than brothers, they lived together, made music together, worked, played, laughed, cried and dreamed together." --Mike Stax (Ugly Things)This is the incredible story of Uther Pendragon, a lost psychedelic band from San Francisco whose music has remained buried until now. Formed in the Bay Area in 1966 as a teen garage group called Blue Fever, Uther Pendragon lasted from 1966 until 1978. During that time, the band went through different names and phases, as their music evolved from garage to psychedelia to hard rock, but the core of the band always remained the same: Mark Lightcap (rhythm guitar, vocals), Bruce Marelich(lead guitar, vocals), and Martin Espinosa (bass, vocals). After finding their ultimate drummer in Mike Beers, the group finally settled on the Uther Pendragon name in the early '70s. But despite being active for all that time and recording at numerous studios (including their own in Palo Alto), Uther Pendragon never released any recordings. Their complex and fascinating story, which involves winning a Bay Area Battle of the Bands and playing with Country Joe & The Fish, recording a killer garage-psych 7" acetate in 1967, going to the legendary Pacific Recording Studios in 1969 to record a demo, living as a family in the same house for many years and rehearsing seven days a week, building their own recording studio and music corporation, being managed by Craig Pedersen (Something Wild, Tripsichord Music Box), being involved in an occult-themed rock opera called Sabbat, and much more, is told with all the details by Mike Stax from Ugly Things in this set's extensive liner notes, with rare photos. Produced from the band's vast archive of original master tapes, San Francisco Earthquake includes their unknown-until-now 7" acetate from 1967 (fab garage-psych in the vein of The Human Expression or The Music Machine); tracks from 1966-'69 including a groundbreaking, moody psycher from 1966; a demo tape from 1969 recorded at Pacific Recording -- an incredible document for any lover of early SF garage-psych (think Oxford Circle, The Savage Resurrection, Moby Grape . . .) -- and many tracks recorded at their home studio in Palo Alto. 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven. - A treasure trove of previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia from 1966-1975 by lost San Francisco band Uther Pendragon.
- 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven.
- Sourced from the original master tapes.
- Includes detailed liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things) and rare photos.
- Three-LP box version housed in purple-and-gold hot-foil-stamped box with eight-page insert and poster.
- "Although they recorded extensively, Uther Pendragon did not release any records in their original lifetime, a situation that has now been rectified in grand style with this sprawling three-disc collection." --Mike Stax (Ugly Things)
- "Really cutting edge music from where teen garage became early raw psych. You can hear the early SF anarchy in the music, much like Oxford Circle. Impressive!" --Patrick Lundborg LP $55 SKU:17267
VAUGN, BEN -Texas Road Trip-Label:MAPLEWOOD Ben Vaughn has had the type of rock n roll career that hasn’t just been successful, but fascinating as well. He has always done things his own way carving a niche and career that is unlike any other. Growing up in Collingswood, New Jersey, out of high school, Ben worked in a knitting mill, as a delivery-truck driver and even a landscaper before he decided that life wasn’t going to be suitable for him. From there, he has gone on to record numerous acclaimed records both with The Ben Vaughn Combo, his band, and as a solo artist as well.Presented now as a Maplewood Records reissue is Ben Vaughn’s excellent 2014 release Texas Road Trip. It is both a tribute to Texas rock n roller legend Doug Sahm of Sir Douglas Quintet fame, (Bob Dylan is a big fan) while also being completely original material written by Ben. Think of it as if Ben Vaughn wrote a bunch of numbers and got some of Sahm’s former band members to record them with him making it sound like it could be a Doug Sahm record. This is exactly what happened when Ben traveled to Austin, Texas to record the tracks with Augie Meyers (Keys, Squeezebox), Alvin Crow (Fiddler, Strings), Speedy Sparks (Bass), John X. Reed (Guitar), and Mike Buck (Drums), respectively.Tracks like Heavy Machinery, Sleepless Nights, and Seven Days Without Love are signature Ben Vaughn numbers but done with a Texas rock n roll ambience. With Ben Vaughn, you can count on having a tight record with tracks that will make you move your feet and lyrics that will make you think.
Maplewood Records is proud to release this instant classic in United States and around the world. Texas Road Trip is a must have for any Ben Vaughn fan and a welcome to any music lovers collection. Enjoy! LP $12 SKU:17628

BLUE STRATOS-DIAMOND AFTERLIFE (GARAGE BLUES DUO) -Label:OFF THE HIP Stripped back Melbourne garage duo Blue Stratos pepper “Diamond Afterlife” with enough primal gems to dazzle the most demanding fencer of stolen jewels. Duos playing garagey blues can become samey after continual exposure. There’s plenty of light and shade, however, and Cobra is a pretty fair drummer into the bargain. “Uptown” has a genuine swing in the feel and some sharply serrated guitar. “Kick Your Ass” (their Oblivians cover) is a killer version but the real surprise is the steaming surf-tinged “The Dozens” which sounds like Link Wray on acid. CD $8 SKU:19245
BOOBY TRAPS-S/T (Primitive garage fuzz)Label:OFF THE HIP “ 3 girls and 2 guys influenced by primitive fuzz sounds of garage bands from the 60‚s, such as The Sonics & The Count and more recent bands such as .The Pandoras, The Muffs, The Makers & The Headcoatees, THE BOOBY TRAPS are united in their passion for all things primitive and swingin‚!” Aussie import. CD $10 SKU:17850
BREADMAKERS- NIGHT OF THE COBRA ( R & B stompers) Label:OFF THE HIP The Breadmakers recipe (ouch) is timeless. Vocalist Lazy Dic sings rather than bawls and blows a righteous harp. If you’ll excuse a parochial Sydney reference, he sings a little like Continental Robert of the Dynamic Hepnotics with a touch more grit. Sonically speaking, Cajun Spice throws in a generous amount of keyboards, engine room duties are more than capably handled by Deadbelly Stilton (drums) and Cadillac Slim. Blacktop Brierley is a humdinger six-string strummer who pulls out some occasionally eccentric, tightly-wound balls of lead-pickin’ stonk. This band brings home the dough (groan) time after time on this album. It’s a relentless steamroller of suave. Even the Atkins diet couldn’t put the skids under these Breadmakers; their brand of Louisiana stomp is as crunchy as homebaked wholemeal. (194) CD $8 SKU:19220
FROWNING CLOUDS-Listen Closlier )60sstyle garage Pebbles style)Label:OFF THE HIP Amazing debut album by 5 teenagers from Geelong, Australia playing the most authentic sounding garage, beat and R'n'B you’ll hear today. You'd swear this album was recorded circa 1965. If you have ever listened to the comps; Back From The Grave, Pebbles, Ugly Things or Nuggets then you'll be instantly blown away by this fantastic record. The Frowning Clouds don't pummel you with fuzz. No, their's is a sadder, more forlorn look at impossible love, teenage angst and rabid yearning. CD $12 SKU:11326

THE SERIES THAT INSPIRED THE ENTIRE GARAGE ROCK REVIVAL! In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day."

This CD consists mainly of ultra-rare tracks from East Germany, Poland, Romania, and Czechoslovakia, countries not previously known to have had any indigenous music scenes to speak of. Fully documented with photos and liner notes, it also includes (in the spirit of the Cold War) some competing bands from the "free" world. ROOTS OF POWERPOP- VA with Barracudas, Romantics, BreakawaysLabel:BOMP Records This compilation chronicles the style that happened right after punk rock, when some of the bands learned how to play their instruments a little better and started borrowing melodies and harmonies from old '60s pop records. This marriage of melody and energy spawned a couple years' worth of exciting music and a lot of it happened on Bomp during the years 1979-1981. Every one of these 25 songs is a bona-fide classic, including bands like The Romantics, The Real Kids, The Flamin' Groovies, Shoes, 20/20, The Nerves, Pointed Sticks, The Zeros, The Last, and The Plimsouls. These are mostly tracks not otherwise available on CD, and a couple never never been released before in this country.Includes lots of photos and info. (Greg Shaw) COMP CD $10 SKU:2102

SOUND OF SAN FRANCISCO- ST w Two Gallants, Coachwhips and more (promo)- Label:ALIVE 17 exclusive tracks and 13 bands. Features The Coachwhips, Two Gallants (early recording), Boyskout, Black Cat Music, Hotwires Titans, The Flakes, Big Midnight, etc. "There's a bevy of talent boiling over, captured on this surpringly consistent compilation. The hard-rocking Joan Jett-meets-AC/DC riffage of Nagg opens things with the smug "Beauty of the Bitch." the Coachwhips and Boyskout serve up cool synth-heavy tunes. Big Midnight and Black Cat Music layer Iggy Pop-style confessional rock with ominous layers of guitars and organ. the Holy Kiss sounds desperate and desolate like the finest work of Rowland S. Howard and The Aktion deliver solid power-pop hooks. The Sound Of San Francisco is just about as splintered and random as when I'd left it, but the bands of that time seem to have grown exponentially good extremly quickly." - Skyscrapper COMP CD $3 SKU:13080
TEE AND THE CRUMPETS- INTRODUCING (GARAGE)-Label:DIONYSUS San Francisco's Tee and Thee Crumpets have a sound and approach heavily rooted in the garage ethic, complete with fuzztone guitars, pounding drums, electric organ, harmonicas and screaming guitars! All original tunes that range from the brooding and moody to frantic beat driven punk. Did we tell you their drummer was in the legendary Count Backwurds? LP $7 SKU:18738
TELEPHONE LOVERS- ST COLOR VINYL (LA POWERPOP)-Label:DISCONNECTED My immediate response to first hearing Telephone Lovers was to surmise that the band had to be from Los Angeles. I got that right, although I may have been about 40 years off in pinning down the time frame! Telephone Lovers' self-titled debut just screams "L.A. power pop" - and in my mind I see this band sharing a stage with The Nerves or 20/20 in 1977. Telephone Lovers take it back to a time when power pop was one of our purest forms of rock n' roll - coming on like modern day heirs to the likes of Dwight Twilley, The Raspberries, Flamin' Groovies, and Scruffs. Even with an added pinch of New York Dolls/Hollywood Brats street tough glamour, the vibe here is so perfectly mid-'70s power pop that it's not hard to imagine any of these tracks turning up on the old Rhino Come Out and Play compilation.LP $16 SKU:18455
TELESCOPES-AS LIGHT RETURNS (+CD)-Label:TAPETE Oscillations of guitar feedback screech and howl through thick layers of distortion. Overtones shift and drift and combine on a carpet of white noise. In the eye of the storm, the voice of Stephen Lawrie remains calm, almost detached. The Telescopes' 2017 album is a listening experience that reaches beyond the realm of natural vision. This vinyl edition includes a free CD-version. LP $25 SKU:18985
TELESCOPES-TASTE (legendary UK SHOEGAZE PSYCH)CLASSIC BLACK VINYL Label:BOMP Reissue of the classic debut album by this legendary UK noise/space rock band. “Taste” was originally released in 1989 on What Goes On and reached #5 on the UK Indie Chart. LP $16 SKU:16706
TELESCOPES -As Approved By the Committee FUSCHIA VINYL, last copiesLabel:BOMP Originally released in the US in 2003 on CD only, this album compiles some of the band's earliest and best work, with material mostly out of print (and all of it previously unreleased in the USA), which originally appeared, with frequent chart success, on labels like Creation and What Goes On. The Telescopes were among the most innovative and challenging yet successful artists in Creation Records' "middle period", a leading part of the wave of sonic experimenters who included Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum and Spiritualized. Part of the British shoegazing movement given impetus by the JESUS AND MARY CHAIN and spearheaded by MY BLOODY VALENTINE, the TELESCOPES' sound borrowed from those two bands while adding their own garage punk flavor, experimenting with violins, trumpets, and dynamic contrasts. The vinyl version includes liner notes. Track listing : I Fall She Screams / There Is No Floor / Threadbare / Anticipating Nowhere / Please Before You Go / Silent Water / Everso / Never Learn Not to Love / Celeste / Flying / The Sleepwalk LP $17 SKU:11495
TELESCOPES - Untitled Second - ORANGE VINYL LAST COPIES ( psych rock shoegaze) - Label:BOMP The Telescopes were among the most innovative and challenging yet successful artists in Creation Records' "middle period", a leading part of the wave of sonic experimenters who included Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine, Spectrum and Spiritualized. Towards the end of their time with Creation, they made their most fully realized album yet, "#' (untitled second). This is the first time this great psychedelic album is being released in the US, and it comes with 3 bonus tracks. "The songs are built on acoustic guitars, then the tricked-out electric guitars are laid on top and garnished with bongos, organs, pianos, and all sorts of classic instruments. Stephen Lawrie's vocals are restrained and semi-emotional and female backing vocals add a touch of sweetness that might otherwise be missing from the record, as the overall atmosphere is very moody and introspective." - AMG LP $17 SKU:11494

THEE PROPHETS- Playgirl- SEALED ORIGINAL w drill hole-Label:KAPP This band from Wisconsin had a promising pop future, thanks to their minor Bubblegum/sunshine pop hit ‘Playgirl,’ but stopped recording after this 1969 album, and then ditched the bubble-gum sound for Jimi Hendrix and Cream covers in concert. So much for a career. This, from Bubblegum University: “The most common schizophrenic theme, paranoia, combines the self-centeredness of narcissism with the hopelessness of depression to make the sufferer feel as if the entire world is against them. Two songs, "It's Up to You, Petula," and the Rare Breed's "Beg, Borrow, and Steal," make the comparison of being kept on a string as a way to illustrate the mental control that someone has over them. The singer in "Dizzy" makes no such metaphor, but admits to the object of his affections, "Girl, you got control of me." "It's Up to You, Petula" illustrates a different type of paranoia, when the singer complains, "I know you've been seeing someone else." The singer in Thee Prophets' "Playgirl" makes the same complaint when he talks about a girl who's been "running 'round on [him]."this band from Wisconsin had a promising pop future, thanks to their minor Bubblegum/sunshine pop hit ‘Playgirl,’ but stopped recording after this 1969 album, and then ditched the bubble-gum sound for Jimi Hendrix and Cream covers in concert. THIN LIZZY - Vagabonds of the Western World (’73 ) 180 gram - Label:FUTURE DAYS RECORDINGS Seismic shifts happened between the previous year's Shades of a Blue Orphanage and 1973's Vagabonds of the Western World. Frontman Phil Lynott was still documenting working class life in the group's native Dublin, and the band still featured guitarist Eric Bell and drummer Brian Downey, even if Bell was soon to leave; the shift was in the feel of the album. Between Jim Fitzpatrick's lurid album cover which depicted the band in space, the new, hot-rod-like Thin Lizzy logo, and Lynott's newly throaty howl, it's possibly the first Thin Lizzy album on which they truly could be described as a hard rock band. Vagabonds presented a swaggering confidence, a band buoyed by the success of semi-accidental smash hit 'Whisky in the Jar,' and carved out a moody, dark sound by borrowing bits from the blues, folk, psych, and Celtic music. Check out 'Slow Blues' for proof, and decide whether Lynott or the guitars win the wail-off that begins the track. 'Whisky in the Jar' had been a bone of contention for the band who felt it didn't represent them. Pushed out due to their presence on package tours with rockers Slade and Suzi Quatro, it seemed to seal their fate, and their Vagabonds single, 'The Rocker,' set out their stall for good. The weirdness and idiosyncrasies of Phil Lynott's early songwriting hadn't been ironed out completely: 'The Hero and the Madman' saw them try their hand at acid-fried cowboy rock -- if such a thing ever existed. After the album, and after Bell's departure due to ill health and disillusionment with the music industry, Thin Lizzy were reinvented once again. Lynott recruited two guitarists and the band left Decca to record Nightlife for Phonogram. Their big hits and glory years -- beginning with 1976's Jailbreak -- were still ahead of them, but, with Vagabonds as a centerpiece, Thin Lizzy's early years left behind a cabinet of curiosities." Pressed on 180-gram vinyl. LP $22 SKU:16582

TROYES-Love Comes, Love Dies: The Troyes Complete recordings (1966-68) ESSENTIAL MICHIGAN GARAGE PSYCH)-Label:LION Essential Michigan garage/psych! Propelled by their local chart-topper 'Rainbow Chaser,' Battle Creek quintet The Troyes entered the orbit of bandleader Ray Anthony (“Dragnet”, “Peter Gunn”), laying down a multitude of fuzztone laced tracks throughout 1966-1967 that, save for one 7” release on his Space Records label, remained unreleased on vinyl—until now. The Troyes exploded onto the music scene with 'Rainbow Chaser'. Sensing a new phenomenon, famed bandleader Ray Anthony signed the group to his new rock label Space Records. His faith in the band was so big that nearly two albums worth of material were recorded at United Sound (Detroit). Unfortunately, only two singles were issued. Far-out psychedelia, unhinged fuzz and farfisa garage, moody haunting sounds, face melters (check out 'Corn Flake')—it's all here. Rare photos, radio surveys, newspaper articles, Troyes memorabilia, and the story of a band that could have been big.
“Dare I say, even far better than the oft-lauded, collectible brigade of both reissued and unissued ‘60s LPs. The Bachs? The Dimensions? The Tempos? The Rising Storm? Public Nuisance? Sorry. This Troyes disc trumps them all.” —“Moptop” Mike Markesich, Ugly Things
"Had a Troyes LP come out in 1967, it would be well ensconced today as one of the Top 5 best from the era" —Ugly Things
"'Take 'Morning of the Rain' as a starting point: not satisfied with a ferociously twisted Dave Davies-aping "metal riff" they subject you to a blazing torrent of fuzztone and a growl of feedback topped with sinister Farfisa tones—a hundred Nuggets sets are woefully bereft of this unissued scorcher." —Shindig!
•"Essential? You bet." —Shindig!
•Masters meticulously prepared and cut for vinyl.
•Comes in deluxe tip-on jacket, including photos, newspaper articles, and the story of a band that could have been big.
