ABOUT GOSPELBEACH:

GospelbeacH is Tom Sanford (drums), Brent Rademaker (vocals, guitar), Jason Soda (vocals, guitar), Neal Casal (vocals, guitar), and Kip Boardman (vocals, bass), with guest appearance by Nelson Bragg (vocal harmonies), and Ben Knight (guitar).

STEREOGUM "Maybe I just have The Grateful Dead on the brain since the band played their final reunion shows last weekend, but their influence was the first one I could hear in the initial bright hiccups of GospelbeacH’s debut song “Sunshine Skyway.” It’s the first-ever for the group, who largely rose from the remnants of Beachwood Sparks, adding one of that group’s biggest fans Neal Casal (of Ryan Adams and the Cardinals) in the process." Caitlin White

WXPN- Beachwood Sparks debuted in 2000, with a collection of songs on Sub Pop Records that couched the band in 1960s’ Laurel Canyon country-rock of The Byrds, and the cosmic country of Gram Parsons and the Flying Burrito Brothers. With Rademaker at the helm of this new band, GospelbeacH continue to draw connections between the country-rock and pop on their debut album, Pacific Surf Line.

SHINDIG magazine declares GospelbeacH to be " the album of the moment", read the interview with Brent Rademaker in issue #50.

UNCUT - "laidback homage to the sounds of Marin County and Topanga Canyon, jangly!"

RELIX - Premier of "Your Freedom" - " The group's debut album Pacific Surf Line builds on the California folk-rock tradition, with a side of blues and some seasons of psychedelia."

NPR World Cafe - Pacific Surf Line, out Oct. 3, is a sunny, breezy debut from the group GospelbeacH. The band's members have been part of Beachwood Sparks, Further, The Tyde, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Ryan Adams & The Cardinals and Everest, among others. With the buoyant, country-influenced sound of Beachwood Sparks in mind, these musicians clearly clicked in the studio, as you'll hear in the two songs featured here.http://www.npr.org/sections/world-cafe/2015/08/31/436289377/world-cafe-next-gospelbeach

SPIN PREMIERE of " MICK JONES" -" As a founding member of Beachwood Sparks, Brent Rademaker built a castle of sand out of gently twanging guitar lines and jaunty basswork and from the looks of things he’s returning to those warm shores for his new band GospelbeacH. Along with singer/guitarists Neal Casal and Jason Soda, bassist Kip Boardman and drummer Tom Sanford, Rademaker’s again making a sleepy (stoned?) version of folk-rock structures that’s somewhere between kaleidoscopic alt-country and the times when the Grateful Dead decided to color within the lines.Case in point is new single “Mick Jones” (despite the name, no resemblance to the Clash), a strummy mixture of lapping acoustic guitar lines and sandy vocalizations, the sort of song that allows you to kick back and watch the world float away. Welcome back to the beach."

EARS WIDE OPEN -" The lineage of kaleidoscopic California folk-rock could hardly have meandered into better hands than those of GospelbeacH, the all-star quintet whose members boast resumés longer than a hippie’s hair. At the center of the spinning wheel is singer-guitarist Brent Rademaker (Beachwood Sparks, the Tyde, Further), who last year began jamming with former Beachwood Sparks bandmate and drummer Tom Sanford. Guitarist Neal Casal (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, the Chris Robinson Brotherhood, Furthur) joined in, and then guitarist Jason Soda (Everest, Watson Twins) and bassist Kip Boardman (Watson Twins). GospelbeacH’s debut album “Pacific Surf Line” (an homage to steamer trains of the California coast) sounds like the sum of all those parts — bluesy folk with a sunny disposition. And a cockeyed Grateful Dead smile, if you will."

KPCC - A musical homage to those who came before them, namely another of LA’s adopted sons, Gram Parsons, but also a cosmic American nod to other beacons of decades past, like the "Pacific Surf Line," which is the name of the album and of an old railroad route that traveled the California coast.

Needless to say, this album is sunny and breezy and many other adjectives you could associate with SoCal, but it’s also surprisingly sparse at times, letting the vibes flow through individual leads.

GLIDE MAGAZINE - Pacific Surf Line comes barreling down the tracks carrying the five bandmates’ rich individual histories. But its most precious cargo is the effortless creative rapport that’s forged these five diverse individuals into a vibrant musical community.

AND if that isn’t enough, here’s a new batch of groovy merch for you!

JAPANESE GIRL -You Should Have Switches/Telephone Operator-Label:MUNSTER Portuguese band The Japanese Girl forged a raw, powerful sound somewhere between garage rock and psych lo-fi with two guitars, an organ, and vintage drum machines; they have since been joined by a drummer who hammers through their opiated layers of reverb. They have played with Jacco Gardner, The Wand, and Girls Names, and as part of the Reverence Festival Party. This 7" features "You Should Have Switches," which sits somewhere between early The Jesus and Mary Chain and Thee Oh Sees, taken from their 2015 Sonic-Shaped Life album (forthcoming at the time of this release). It's backed by an exclusive, unexpected version of Pete Shelley's "Telephone Operator." 45 RPM $9 SKU:16866

A colorful collection of obscured and exuberant pop nuggets -- the psychedelic effects have gone and the lightshows have blown, but their lingering presence in the aftermath of the hallucinogenic haze is, though less defined, strangely evident. CANCER MOON - Flock, Colibri, Oil 180 GRAM -Label:MUNSTER 180-gram vinyl; remastered for this reissue; presented in facsimile gatefold sleeve. "Delayed due to their unusual and ill-fated relationship with the Polar label, Cancer Moon's second album arrived in 1992. The dubious dealings of their previous company had significantly increased the band's prejudices with regards to the music industry. The intimacy of the bubble in which they lived triggered their suspicions towards label owners, bigwigs and anyone who tried to intervene in the nourishing and destiny of one of their children, their songs... band members Jon Zamarripa and Josetxo Anitua took charge of a quick and cheap production work in which they sacrificed the bigger clarity of their previous album for a meatier sound. That sonic hyper rawness stressed the idea among music journalists that Cancer Moon were the fathers of Spanish noise. But they weren't such thing, or at least they weren't aware of it. The truth was that Zamarripa was that type of instinctive and visceral guitar player, more magical than skilled, who had been brought up on mid-70s proto-punk. He would create a tangled mess when playing which was utilised on this album more than ever before, which resulted in that sonic wall that somebody described as noise. Listening to the album again, I'm especially surprised that the overused psychedelia tag comes to mind more than I remembered, a lot more than with their previous and next records. Even though I used to roll up joints for them while they were crafting these songs at Zamarripa's house, I didn't remember them sounding so trippy. And as memory often traces coherent connections, I've automatically remembered delirious listening sessions at night with Jon and some other friend when we would inevitable end up playing Screaming Trees lying on the floor, when our bodies had given in to the weight of the night, and we would float away night after night thanks to their hypnotic rock. Although we liked the whole Seattle sound and loved Mudhoney, our favourites were always the Trees, whom you'll clearly recognize in these grooves. And forgive me for daring to make a comparison to such a unique band, but even in the moments when Cancer Moon sounded more similar, they always produced a distinctive element, which was Josetxo's wonderful voice: powerful, persuasive, in total symbiosis with those contortionist guitars which were such a feature of the album." --Fernando Gegúndez LP $24 SKU:16865

EARTHLESS MEETS HEAVY BLANKET- DOUBLE LP In a Dutch Haze Rainbow splatter viny -Label:OUTER BATTERY RECORDS Rainbow splatter vinyl. "After an impromptu heavy psych jam at SXSW left the crowd stunned and breathless, J Mascis and Earthless were asked to play the main stage of the Roadburn Festival in Holland. When Earthless guitarist Isaiah Mitchell had to back out at the last minute due to other commitments, Graham Clise from Heavy Blanket (who also plays with J in Witch) stepped in on second guitar. Backed by the best rhythm section out there - Mario Rubalcaba and Mike Eginton from Earthless - we are left with an incredible one-time happening, almost a full hour of some of the most mind bending heavy psych imaginable. With absolutely insane artwork from Tim Lehi, In a Dutch Haze comes as a lavish double LP with a gatefold sleeve." LP $28 SKU:16867

OSIRIS- ST-insert with photos and liner notes prog psych masterpiece -Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS Master tape sound. Includes insert with photos and liner notes.First-ever vinyl reissue of this prog/psych masterpiece by cult Arabian band Osiris, their 1982 debut album. A killer blend of '70s-sounding hard, progressive/psychedelic sounds with long, ripping Minimoog and analog synth attacks smashed into mellow vibes and Arabian folky touches, with hard lead guitar, exotic percussion, floating rhythm section, and English vocals. Osiris formed in Bahrain, the small island country in the Persian Gulf, in the late '70s, but its story goes back to 1969, when talented brothers Mohamed and Nabil Alsadeqi formed a funk rock band called Witch. The band broke up when Mohamed left to pursue his studies in Texas, while his brother Nabil left for London. Upon returning to Bahrain in 1980, the two brothers decided to form the first progressive rock band from Bahrain. It was not easy to find like-minded musicians in their town, but they succeeded, with help from Mohammed Shafii (bass), Sami Al-Jamea (keyboards), Mohamed Amin Kooheji (guitar, bass, vocals), and Abdul Razzak Aryan (keyboards). Mohamed and Nabil began working out an original repertoire that would fuse musical complexity, melodic richness, and Arab culture. They took the name "Osiris" from Egyptian mythology, not only for its sound but also for its associations with Arab culture, youth, and fertility. But the definitive Osiris line-up came up when they added a charismatic singer named Isa Janahi. Osiris made their live debut at the end of 1981. Janahi wore flashy, colored clothes and capes and captivated the audience with his presence on stage. The group also used lasers, a light show, and smoke bombs, all deftly handled by friends of the band. Osiris was recorded at the only eight-track studio in Bahrain at the time. It was recorded and mixed in just three days. As there weren't any record pressing plants in Bahrain, the band had to press the albums in the Philippines. They sold 1000 copies in Bahrain, but a few made their way to the USA and the UK, appearing in some rare records list by those in the know. Osiris will please not only those into classic prog-rock in the vein of Camel, Yes, or Pink Floyd, but also those for looking for exotic, psychedelic sounds and beats. LP $28 SKU:16868
