The existence of an early board tape captures the MC5 in all their rocking glory, recorded live at the Saginaw Civic Center, January 1st, 1970. This show falls in between the two studio releases for Atlantic (Back in the U.S.A. and High Time), finding the band restyling themselves for mass consumption while remaining a very potent force as a live act. The set list reflects this, combining tunes from their live album ("Ramblin' Rose," "Rama Lama Fa Fa Fa," and a medley of "Starship" and "Kick Out the Jams") with harder takes of songs from Back in the U.S.A. than what appear on the studio release. In addition to US Bombs and The Hunns/Die Hunns, you've got this here outfit dealing in crusty Social D style punk. Peters has melodic So Cal guitar punk in his DNA so this here outfit features roots based guitars from the 1982 mould, think Shattered Faith, TSOL, and ol' Mike Ness hisself. This band straddles the rock-punk of early Clash with the country-blues punk of the greaser Hootenanny scene. If you've heard some of Peters other stuff, this ranks with the best of it, and while no diss on his other works, this might be his best to date. Pay attention to "Yer Too Sensitive" and "Blow My Brains," you'll find yourself with a mohawk standing outside the Cathay de Grande. ARIEL -A Strange Fantastic Dream- ( 70s Aussie blues prog ) -Label:PROG TEMPLE (UK) Ariel was an Australian band that formed from the ashes of Spectrum and Tamam Shud. Released on EMI's progressive imprint Harvest in 1973, A Strange Fantastic Dream, if having certain similarities to early British progressive rock (Procol Harum, Uriah Heap) and the art rock of Supertramp, has a wry, bluesy rock swagger that's distinctly Oz. The album fared well commercially and critically, reaching #12 in the LP charts in February 1974. CD $17 SKU:16367

KALEIDOSCOPE- ST ( Great 60s psych ) Mexican SALE -Label:SHADOKS The cover art has also been completely restored (bootleg versions were heavily cropped) with the original label artwork for the first time. The package also includes many photos and a band history, making this a collector's dream come true.
Kaleidoscope's sole release is one of the best psychedelic albums ever recorded and also among the rarest albums of all time. Enrique Rivas located all the original band members as well as the original cover artist. Shadoks Music signed a deal with the band, and now puts this baby out legitimately for the first time, ever. The band was not actually from Mexico: the musicians came from Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Spain, and the album was recorded in 1967 in the Dominican Republic. The manager took it to Mexico where it had a tiny release of 200 copies on the Orfeon label. They were friends with Addib Casta from Ladies WC, Venezuela, so one song is by Ladies WC -- the rest are all original compositions. The music features some amazing, heavy, guitar-based psychedelia of the best kind, and there are three bonus tracks here, including a live track from 1969. CD $16 SKU:12644

Very much in the Nazz mould (but with a heavier edge) the band are prime 68 US Anglophile psych garage pop but despite a three year long association with UNI Records, Russ Regan never seemed to know quite what to do with this band. Most likely due to an almost constantly fluctuating lineup, an album wasn't released until 1969, and as good as it was, it was a case of right place wrong time. "Two Of Us" and "Devil Woman" are hard psych gems drenched in guitar. "Friends" and "Never Put Away My Love For You" are engaging ballads. "Moonfire" is vaudevillian, "I'm A Man / Here 'Tis" is blues, and "Boogie Woogie Baby" is updated fifties rock. Overall worth investigating and in many ways a minor classic long over looked. ARCESIA-Reachin' ( rare 70’s private press acid-rock / pop, gatefold, w insert and lyrics -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) A classic since year zero of rare record collecting, Reachin' Arcesia has always been the focus of many rumors and bizarre stories. Guerssen sets the record straight with this, the first ever legitimate reissue of this legendary album. John Arcesi was a veteran singer of the big band era who, in the early '70s, recorded a pop album with help from an anonymous hip studio musicians. The album was released in a private edition of 300 copies and most of them were given away to family and friends. In the late '80s, one of those copies was unearthed by record dealer Paul Major, who was one of the first people to appreciate the singularity of Reachin' Arcesia. Since then, the album, which mixes over-the-top crooner vocals with late '60s acid-rock and pop arrangements, has developed a reputation as a lounge-psych/real people masterpiece. Remastered and presented in a gatefold sleeve with the original artwork on the back and a new cover design on the front. Includes insert with lyrics. CAROL OF HARVEST- ST ( 70s Psych/Folk-Rock ) 180 gram ( 70s prog psych hippie style ) Ltd ed of 700 - Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) Long-deleted Guerssen title now repressed in a limited deluxe version, with a thick carton cover and pressed on 180 gram vinyl. Germany, 1978. Absolutely early '70s-sounding progressive and psychedelic folk-rock masterpiece of the first order. Entirely sung in English by an incredibly young female vocalist, Beate Krause, only 16 years-old! Long tracks with excellent, killer acid guitar solos, and Moog. If you like groups like Mellow Candle or Pentangle, there's no doubt you need to purchase this one fast. Often praised as "the best prog-folk record ever," this is an absolute classic of the genre. Besides that, the original label pressed only 200 copies of the LP, so imagine how hard it is to find this now. So here you have a new vinyl reissue of this wonderful record, licensed by the band, with killer, remastered sound and an insert with photos and liner notes in a limited edition of 700 copies. We thought this one was gone forever, it's been off the catalogue for about a year or so, and then discovered that our pressing plant had 300 copies pressed and packed long ago and far away and forgotten in a corner! They have just been delivered to our warehouse in perfect conditon. Get em while they last.
The one proper album the band released in its lifetime, All Black and Hairy is both perfectly named and perfectly performed -- if it's nothing but a revivalist approach at heart, it's such a damn entertaining one that there's no cause for complaint. With its title track taken from the appropriately goonball back catalog of Screamin' Lord Sutch and its general snot-mouthed attitude from every last Nuggets and Pebbles selection ever, about the only thing missing are the lava lamps and garage stink. Saying the band uses the right combination of fuzztone guitars and echo and heavy frug rhythms is a bit like saying the sky is blue -- it's just one of those things to be expected -- but the sheer energy and abandon present keep everything from simply retracing the past to no point. Leighton's credit is for "lead screaming," and that about sums it up -- he's not so much singing as pulling off the ultimate teen-wannabe-Mick Jagger performance, only even more aggressively snotty. Ted Friedman's lead guitar solos with the right rave-up spirit and John Hanrattie keeps the core melodies going, while the Tom Ward/David Anderson rhythm section aims to get rears shaking instead of sitting. The album is half split between inspired originals (check out the concluding "Stoneage Stomp") and actual songs from the time, the latter resulting in fun versions of tracks like the Uncalled For's "Do Like Me" and Larry & the Bluenotes' "Night of the Phantom." About the only thing missing is the original studio recording of the band's best number, "It's Spooky," but anyone wanting a quick blast of '60s punk thrills filtered through later years could do much worse than to dig this one up. Oberon consisted of seven young musicians who met while studying at Radley College in Oxford. Drawing upon such influences as Fairport Convention, The Pentangle, King Crimson, The Incredible String Band, and Sandy Denny, the group created a stunning piece of progressive folk. WE THE PEOPLE (CA)/AMERICAN ZOO -- Visions of Time/ Complete Recordings insert/booklet with rare photos and detailed liner notes -Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (SPAIN) This superb release tells the story of L.A.-based '60s teen band We The People (not to be confused with the better known Florida outfit of the same name). These guys played an amazing blend of garage, folk-rock and psychedelia, resulting in a handful of cool 45s which they recorded for the Reena label in 1967-'68. Two of those 7-inches were released using the moniker The American Zoo. Guitar player Bill Bottrell later became a Grammy award producer, working with Michael Jackson, Madonna and George Harrison among others. Drummer Jason "Jasun" Martz toured with Frank Zappa and recorded with Michael Jackson. Today, he's a well-known avant-garde artist and sculptor. Steve Zaillian, the band's original drummer, became an Academy Award winning director, producer and screenwriter ('Schindlers List' and 'Hannibal' among others). This collection includes all the We The People/American Zoo 45 sides plus two previously unreleased tracks from 1967, taken from the only surviving copy of the band's ultra rare 10-inch demo acetate.
