SNOWY DUNES- SATRUGI (ORANGE) (70s style rock)Label:OZIUM There was a time in the mid to late '70s when a modicum of mellowness and melody started creeping into heavy rock, it was a period that saw the rise of bands like Bad Company, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Boston and early Foreigner, bands who when called upon could rock like a cradle in a hurricane but also had in their locker songs that could tug at your heartstrings and didn't just rely on a riff to grab their listeners attention. Sweden's Snowy Dunes, Niklas Eisen (lead vocals, percussion, acoustic guitar), Christoffer Kingstedt (electric guitars, guitorchestration), Carl Oredson (bass, keyboards, mellotron) and Jonathan Wårdsäter (drums, percussion) do not exactly work from the same blueprint that those bands used to propel their careers into the stratosphere, Snowy Dunes' grooves are a little bit too gnarly and gritty, but they do bring to underground rock many of those same attributes of songcraft, melody and soulful gravitas that saw those other bands become staples of worldwide rock radio stations, attributes that can be found scattered quite liberally throughout the five songs that make up the band's third album 'Sastrugi.' CRYSTALLINE - AXE MUSIC UK psych holy grail. -booklet with unseen pictures and liner notes by Paul Cross -Label:GUERSSEN First reissued by Guerssen in 2012 as LP with CD and out of print for many years, here's a new, improved CD repress of this UK psych holy grail. Axe (known also as Axe Music and finally Crystalline by the time they recorded their rare acetate) were an obscure British psych band led by acid-rock guitar player extraordinaire Tony Barford and graced by Vivienne Jones' ethereal vocals. The band hailed from Northampton (home also of their mates Dark of 'Dark Round The Edges' fame). In 1970, they recorded a demo album of which only 12 copies were pressed as a demo acetate. Here's a straight reissue of this legendary artifact, as the previous "reissue" on the Kissing Spell label from 1993 and credited to Axe was altered without the band consent and included newly edited tracks, artificial echo/phasing effects, altered song titles... Here you'll find the acetate recording on its pure form: 100% unadulterated heavy psych and acid-rock sounds full of raw, fuzzed-out guitars and dreamy female vocals. Four impressive original songs plus a long, psyched to the max cover of Love's 'A House Is Not A Motel' which has to be heard to be believed.Carefully remastered from an original acetate copy in 24-bit. Unfortunately, no masters survived and no 100% clean copies are known to exist of the original acetates, but you'll get the best result for the possibilities. In fact they've managed to improve the sound a bit over the first edition from 2012. Comes with new artwork (the original acetate came in blank sleeve), booklet with unseen pictures and liner notes by Paul Cross (Sweet Floral Albion). CD $19 SKU:25796
GLASS MENAGERIE - HAVE YOU FORGOTTEN WHO WE ARE?-ANTHOLOGY 1968-69' (psych)Label:TIME BOX The Glass Menagerie emerged in the late 1960s, in the Lancastrian backdrop of Burnley in the north of England. A move to London in 1968 led to a handful of singles with Pye before changes within the band marked a new chapter under Chas Chandler. A rapidly changing music scene and a lack of investment eventually took its toll on the band who split at the tail end of the decade. From 1968 to 1969, they recorded five singles, and various sessions for Top Gear, Saturday Club, and host Brian Matthew. The majority of songs from these live sessions, would be heading towards their unreleased album. Have You Forgotten Who We Are? presents a missing link in the British psychedelic phenomenon, and provides a precious glimpse into the world of "Frederick Jordan" and what might have been. Professionally re-mastered original sound recordings with a handsome 12-page booklet with expansive liners, interviews and rare memorabilia. CD $22 SKU:21830
MUNDAYNES - LOVE IT (garage punk)-Label:BLUE MATTER Are you looking for a bit of new rocking punk with just a touch of garage thrown in for good measure? Well if you are then The Mundaynes debut album 'Love It' should satisfy your needs. Recorded during Summer 2021 on the front line of Bexhill-On-Sea, 'Love It' is stuffed to bursting with 15 great songs. With a pedigree to be proud of, The Mundaynes have within their ranks musicians who have played with such punk legends as The Cravats, The Ploy, Apocalype, The Von Trapp Family, Room 13, Jello Biafra & The Alchemysts. There's no filler here, every track is a potential hit single. Singer Tony Page is not one for holding back. He attacks these songs as if his life depended on it. Guitarist Paul Bearer follows suit sounding like his tungsten plectrum is on fire. Songwriter and bassist N. Mundayne (Nick Saloman) lays down a pounding foundation, underpinned by the savage drums of Candice Hostettler. Old friend Ben Diagram guests on Vox Continental organ on four buzzing tracks. CD $18 SKU:25957

DOWNER-ROCK-ASYLUM (extremely rare downer-rock tracks) Label:AUDIO ARCHIVES A special hard-hitting selection of live and extremely rare downer-rock tracks featuring historically important material by very early Judas Priest and UFO plus Bedlam. Also, pre-Judas Priest outfit The Flying Hat Band led by Glenn Tipton. Amazingly, Audio Archives now present unique material from Rob Halford's first ever official Priest concert and even more staggeringly, the last Priest gig with original singer Al Atkins and drummer Chris Congo Campbell from April 1973. The lengthy composition 'Morpheus' is one of Atkins' finest moments. 'Red Light Lady' plus two other songs showcase the impactful, yet nervous arrival of Halford during that crucial crossover period. Truly significant recordings of huge appeal to all Priest fans. Other bands featured are Hackensack who deliver a fierce medley to kick things off plus Welsh heavies Budgie and the primordial Albert Monk with a deranged vocalist and a brutal, bass heavy style of 1970. An 80 minute onslaught of undiluted downer-rock from quarter inch masters of excellent sound quality throughout. COMP CD $16 SKU:21275
FACES FROM THE DARK-BEAT AND PSYCHEDELIA FROM THE MODERN MUSIC CENTRE 1965-1969 -Label:TOP SOUNDS During the mid to late 1960s the Modern Music Centre in London welcomed hundreds of bands. Over seventy acetates at least on the studio's own label are known to exist but the fact that few have ever been released has ensured the studio remains a largely forgotten venture. Its relatively prolific output of discs however has enabled a most entertaining expedition with 'Faces From The Dark,' from singular beat to unhinged psychedelia, amidst a good measure of fuzzed our frazzles. STRANGE CREATURES -The Best of REbels Vol TWO- 15 ear Bashing Greats (PEBBLES/ NUGGETS STYLE) Label:RAVING POP BLAST! Inspired by the 1980s collection 'Pebbles' which collected together '60s garage punk bands, most of whom would have vanished without trace if not for 'Pebbles' unearthing them and turning them into essential 'must haves', for lovers of raw, often cheaply recorded, guitar based music. 'Rebels' brings together like minded bands/artists from all over the world, who are doing it for love, with no glancing towards what's popular, or what the current musical fashions dictate. So here we have 16 bands, all different but all with a burning desire to play their own kind of rock and roll. From the garage '60s vibe of Leeds based The See No Evils, the wah-wah grooves of The DC Spectres and from Belgium, Thee Martian Boyfriends and Vice Barons to the Joe Meek style twangs of Diamond Daddios and the mod-flavour of (ex-Prisoners) Galileo 7, (ex-Makin' Time) The Deep Six and The Hurricanes (who bring back memories of The Purple Hearts). Bristol's very own Joe James & His Pariahs, conjure up an authentic mid '60s freakbeat sound, while also from Bristol, Rauschenberg get all space-out. The Jack Cades offer up their 'reverb on 10' take on The Byrds jangle sound, and two young 14 year olds from Devon -The Lysping Mynor Byrds- mash up a surf classic with a Clash solo! And lucky for us someone pressed record on the cassette recorder! The self declared 'Best Live Band In Britain', London Based The Fallen Leaves (with drummer Brett Ascott formally of The Chords) tell us the tale of the 'Motorcycle Girl' in an exclusive live recording. Meanwhile Coventry's Sawdust Caesars have been dragged back from the grave screaming with their lo-fi-acid-pop-psych, and the don't move or you'll miss it 'Flower Pop Show'. While from up in Scotland we have the most wonderful The Nettelles who mix their garage punk with a kind of lo-fi-C86 rumble and back down to Taunton where you'll possibly bump into Palooka 5, as they'll most likely be wearing camouflage gear! Play this loud, and often! COMP CD $19 SKU:26272
