KAWABATA MAKOTO’S MAINLINER -REVELATION SPACE (Japanese undergound psych legends-SALE!Label:RIOT SEASON CD PACKAGED IN A MINATURE VINYL STYLE CARD SLEEVE WITH PRINTED INNER SLEEVE. One of the most celebrated Japanese Underground bands have returned! It may have taken over 12 years, but Kawabata Makoto, guitar guru and head honcho in Acid Mothers Temple, has finally decided to get his celebrated 'psychedelic solid free attack group' back together. Joining original Mainliner members Kawabata Makoto (motorpsycho guitar) and Koji Shimura (drums) is new recruit Kawabe Taigen (bass/vocals) and the trio still kick up one hell of a sonic racket. Confusion surrounds the exact details of the recording, but they seem to date from December 2011, and from Kawabata's mountain top temple studio-cum-home. The man himself, as always, is shying away from sharing too many of the magick details about the Mainliner rebirth. And the stark, minimal black with gold sleeve keeps the mystery intact, apart from the grainy band photo on the rear. All said, 'Revelation Space', is a comeback statement of intent. And it's firmly in the same 'in the red / raw' camp as the original trio's classic 'Mellow Out'. From the initial speaker shaking feedback burst of opener 'Revelation Space', right through to the closing 20-minute epic 'New Sun' (which showcases Taigen's otherworldly howl perfectly) there is no let up in the brutal delivery. This will no doubt delight those Mainliner diehards who never thought they'd see the day again, and all those with a love of over the top guitar howls and punishing feedback levels, but always under pinned by some righteous grooves. Also included is a free DVD featuring a TV broadcast of the last Polish Klenczon concert. Krzysztof Klenczon was one of the most important musicians in the Polish '60s and '70s rock scene. LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS -Shootin' Fire (1969 recordings) SAALE! -Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) Lightnin' Hopkins recorded over a dozen songs for the Clarity Music Company at the "ACA" Recording Studio in Houston in April of 1969. These songs ranged from new originals, such as 'Born In The Bottom,' 'December 7, 1941,' 'A Rainy Day In Houston,' and 'Stinking Foot,' to oldies such as 'Feel Like Ballin' The Jack,' 'Shake That Thing' and 'Shinin' Moon.' Since the 1970's some of these songs have been released on haphazard compilations with the bass and drums mixed too high, the guitar leads mixed too low, and excessive "reverb" in an attempt to make Lightnin' sound more contemporary. Now for the first time ever the original four track masters have been re-mixed without any of the extraneous studio misjudgments that marred previous releases. As an added bonus, previously unreleased recordings such as 'Movin' On Out When The Saints March In,' 'Old House Torn Down,' 'Mistrust My Baby And She Mistrust Me,' and 'Baby Please Don't Do Me Wrong' are included on this compendium of Lightnin' Hopkins gems. PETER COOK + DUDLEY MOORE -Bedazzled Soundtrack 1967 SAALE!-Label:ACME Dudley Moore's score to the 1968 cult classic Bedazzled is a delightful jazz romp. Moore composed, arranged, and produced the music for his trio: Moore on piano, Pete McGurk on bass, and Chris Karan on drums. Moore keeps things light and airy, and also consistently cool, as he and his jazz cronies jam with precision. His fingers twinkle across the piano, portraying the comedy, tension, and emotion of the onscreen action to a tee. Saxophones, flutes, violins, and assorted horns chime in to express sadness or to take the music down truly whimsical side avenues. The three vocal songs are glorious, and it helps that they underscore the film's highlights. The pleasant choir musings of "The Leaping Nuns' Chorus" immediately brings to mind those religious figures on trampolines. Moore's pitch-perfect vocals on "Love Me" add a witty sneer to the song's bombastic undercurrent. It's impossible not to smile when he sings, "I'm on my knees/Won't you please come and love me." Peter Cook's droll, stoic voice on "Bedazzled" would be the score's standout feature if his longtime partner, Moore, wasn't such an accomplished pianist and such an intelligent jazz arranger. Who can resist Cook's dismissals of, "I don't love you, leave me alone/I'm self-contained/You fill me with inertia," as Moore implores backing vocalists to drown him in adoration? The "Main Title"'s melody makes appearances throughout the soundtrack, and Moore repeatedly twists and turns it into something new and fascinating. Filled with energy, sparklingly beautiful jazz passages, and an expert balance of classical motifs and hilarious vocals, Bedazzled is a timeless reminder of Dudley Moore's genius. CD $10 SKU:20452

QUICK, BILL -MARAVILLOSA GENTE (Hippie Acid folk weirdness) Outer carton slim case CD-Label:GUERSSEN Mysterious Bill Quick..this guy was son of North-American dad and Venezuelan mum, and landed in Madrid in the early 70s, spending most of his time playing music and manufacturing leather belts and other stuff that he later sold at the popular Rastro flea market in Madrid, meeting point for all hippies of the time. He somehow got in touch with famous producer Alain Milhaud, who got really impressed by his work and quickly offered him a deal for recording a long-play to be released in Milhauds own Explosion label. Then Bill recruited some of top studio musicians and foreign friends who were also living in Madrid at the time; the list of people who play on the recordings is impressive: Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellico (ex-Cerebrum), Rafa Galvez (Vainica Doble), Frank Rojas (Sangre). Jess Lam (Jess & James).. and up to eleven musicians joined Bill in the recording studio. As a result, "Maravillosa gente" (Beautiful people) was recorded. Ranging from beautiful, introspective, acoustic solo tracks like "Beautiful People", "Only the weather" or the acid-folk of "Winters gonna come" to full backing-band hard-edged ones like "Take me away", "Somebody" and the folk-rock sounding of "With you, Lord" or "I sing this song", the album is a real treat from start to finish. It has an awesome sound and amazing production (it was recorded at one of the most advanced Spanish recording studios at the time), along with top musicianship and Bills amazing songwriting. A real big ticket that was absolutely ignored in Spain at the time, and even today remains unknown to most of folk-rock collectors and fans. Curious enough, the album got released in Brazil as well (with poor sales again), with a different cover artwork. Now this is reissued for the first time, including a booklet with pictures and detailed liner notes telling the wonderful and strange story of this mysterious musician and carefully remastered sound. First ever vinyl reissue with original UK artwork. Remastered sound and insert with photos / memorabilia plus liner notes by band member Steve Brayne. Formed in Brighton in 1968 with roots to the mod-soul scene, The Fox consisted of Steve (Stephen) Brayne on lead guitar & vocals, Winston Weatherill (ex-Gary Farr & The T-Bones) on lead guitar & sitar, Alex Lane on keyboards & vocals, Tim Reeves on drums and Dave Windross on bass. During their brief existence they supported The Herd and opened for David Bowie. Their sound was loud and righteous with great vocal harmonies, tight rhythm section and wonderful keyboard /guitar solos. After getting signed to a London management, they recorded their only LP in one session and they had it released in the UK on the Fontana label and on the USA on Crewe, featuring a different cover. Sadly, the band broke up following year and since the inclusion of “Butterfly” in one of the Rubbles comps several decades later, they've become a cult group among psych collectors LP $25 SKU:22891

This album builds on the raw sound of its predecessors with a further blast of psych'n'roll. Tremelo and wah wah pedals get abused to squalling effect, Keith Moon-esque drums clatter and the Hammond wails. It's ALIVE! And THRILLING! The songs are stuffed with pop melodies and the sound has its tentacles over all manner of '60s bands - the cover of Bohemian Vendetta's 'Enough' gives a clue as to where the band's collective head is. The album is beautifully produced in a way it sounds like it wasn't produced at all. Totally raw and occasionally rough-edged, exactly how music was recorded, before technology smoothed everything out to near blandness. Guitars twang, chime, fuzz and wah-wah into a frenzy of excitement, vocals stretch beyond their abilities and occasionally scream and break, while the drums biff bang and pow (er) their way through, while somehow holding everything together. Organs swirl, and a variety of 'strange sounds' all of which were created by experimentation, rather than using modern day 'plug ins' or 'pressing buttons', will have you wondering, what is that?...
