ARCHIVAL 70s CASSETTES
We found a handful of cassettes in our storage area that were recorded and owned by the late, great GREG SHAW. Each cassette has a label either typed or handwritten by Greg himself, most of them from the 80s. These were tapes he used to trade with other collectors and for his own listening enjoyment.
DONT BE ALL ASKING ME WHAT’S ON THEM, these are being released because they are rather historical, not for their specific content. SOLD AS IS!

COUNTRY FUNK -ST (1970 psych/blues/country) Label:SLIPSTREAM First released in May 1970, Country Funk's debut was a confident and heady mix of psych, blues rock and country rock. Despite achieving little success in their day, 40 years on the "Funkers" are now highly regarded, finally achieving the credit that they were originally denied. The 'Country Funk'-LP was released in May 1970 after a few name and line up changes, plus a short prison sentence. At the album's heart lie the influences of Buffalo Springfield, Poco and a dose of hairy Byrds, Moby Grape and the Dead. Although not a classic, this loosely groovin' but tight collection of songs moves along nicely with genuine heart and soul." Country Funk's debut has been newly packaged with extensive liner notes, unpublished photos and 4 unreleased bonus tracks, and four 1967 cuts from earlier outfit ADAM including the superb Bee Gees like 'Woman' (later covered by Pure Prairie League) and the trippy 'Melrose Street 5829' (which easily rivals anything Emitt Rhodes cut around this time). CD $14 SKU:23525
EXPLORERS CLUB- TO SING AND BE BORN AGAIN (covers of 60s bands) Label:GOLDSTAR Based in Nashville, The Explorers Club launches a 10-track album featuring covers versions of songs by '60s bands/artists including Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Turtles, Manfred Mann, The Zombies, The Lovin' Spoonful, Orpheus and The Walker Brothers. GIUDA-RACEY ROLLER (SW) 70s style glampop-Label:BURNING HEART Their mix of anthemic '70s glam pop hooks and the punchy delivery of early UK punk, has stunned listeners all across the globe.Working from the same glammy three-chord blueprint as groups like Slade, T.Rex, Faces, Status Quo, and The Sweet, Giuda take you back to a monumental bygone era of '70s rock'n'roll, specifically the pre-punk, glitter days when music was all about monstrous riffs, boisterous attitudes, high energy experimentation and fun CD $14 SKU:23310
GREEN SEAGULL- Cloud Cover (60s pop Left Banke, The Kinks style)Label:MEGA DODO Cloud Cover' sees Green Seagull develop their fascination for melodic sixties pop and combine it with glorious vocal harmonies to create a mellow Stateside vibe filtered through early '70s UK acts like Brinsley Schwarz and Danny Kirwan-era Fleetwood Mac. Their shared enthusiasm for late '60s baroque psychedelia and 12-string jangle has blossomed into a prolific songwriting team that now includes contributions from their keyboardist Sarah Gonputh. CD $16 SKU:23523
MANTIS - sT( Obscure 70s prog rock) Label:PROGAOR Obscure '70s prog rock band from Canada with influences also from hard rock and glam. Their lone album is a cult rarity from the '70s Canadian rock scene. In 2018 a limited Canadian CD issue came out with the album remastered and with an unreleased bonus track and in 2020 UK label ProgAOR licensed the album and released it on CD remastered with the bonus track for the European market. CD $19 SKU:23287
NOISE FIGURES -THE PERFECT SPELL( fuzz, garage rock)-Label:MADE OF STONE This duo from Athens relied on analog methods when recording their first album, an album filled with fuzz, garage rock vibes and psychedelic aesthetics. Meaty, catchy, fuzz driven guitar lines and overwhelmingly powerful drumming create a full, loud wall of sound and keep muscle and intimidation in play throughout the album. With the cooperation of their sound engineer Nikos Triantafyllou and long time producer Alex Bolpasis, The Noise Figures play their ace and build a heavy psych soundscape, sticking close to their raw power roots. CD $19 SKU:23072
PERMANENT CLEAR LIGHT -COSMIC COMICS (superb psych pop)Label:SULATRON A superb psychedelic pop album by Finland's number one band for phantastic earworms in a psychedelic way! Permanent Clear Light is often referred to as Finland's top psychedelic group. They released their debut album, 'Beyond These Things', in 2014 to a high critical acclaim. After that, the group has released several singles, EPs and appeared on a number of compilation albums on the British Fruits de Mer label. Although PCL's musical roots lie in '60s psychedelia their sound is strictly contemporary. The trio considers the recording studio their main instrument, and their sound is characterised by multi-layered instrumental work and strong melodic vocals. After a creative break, PCL is finally ready to release its second album, 'Cosmic Comics', which shows that the band has travelled a long way through the spheres since their debut. Mastering for all tracks by Eroc. CD in gatefold digisleeve, limited to 500 copies CD $18 SKU:23400
BLACK GREMLIN -The Fun is Over (The MC5, The Pink Fairies, Motörhead style)Label: RETRO VOX Based in Parma, Black Gremlin releases 12 shameless tracks full of attitude and ignorance. Compared to the band's previous EP, this album sounds slightly more retro. Influences include The MC5, The Pink Fairies, Motörhead, Zeke and Thin Lizzy's rowdy and rough rock'n'roll. The whole thing is dressed up with the sharp riffs and the fast rhythms of early '80s thrash metal and hc punk LP $25 SKU:23485
COCKTAILS -CATASTROPHIC ENTERTAINMENT(S.F> POWER POP) Label:ALIEN SNATCH! From the San Francisco power pop band Cocktails is full of fuzzed-out melodies, catchy choruses, sticky guitar riffs, and pop rock heaters. EMBRUJO ST (1970 Chilean psych)- Label: SURVIVAL RESEARCH Chilean prog band Embrujo began as El Embrujo Ques Besa or Kissing Spell, formed by the guitarist, singer and drummer Carlos Fernandez with chief songwriter Juan Carlos "Tato" Gomez on bass and vocals and Ernesto "Kiko" Murillo on lead guitar, with organist/flautist Ernesto Aracena and pianist/flautist Guillermo Olivares joining later. Signing to Camilo Fernandez's Arena Producciones in 1970, debut LP 'Los Pajaros' was issued under the Kissing Spell moniker, but Chile's unstable political climate, subject to CIA meddling, saw them renamed Embrujo for their coveted second album, the self-titled disc mixing subtle Latin elements within their beautifully-delivered songs of quietly contemplative psychedelic rock. A must-have for all South American psych fans out there, limited to 500 copies only. LP $25 SKU:23419

The music is on the punky side of garage rock, taking inspiration from sixties garage rock, seventies punk and pub rock, eighties garage revival, Medway garage and rhythm & blues. The Wednesday Knights play garage rock without aping current trends in garage and without trying to sound like an exact copy of a 1966 band (you'll never see them in matching suits). Ten original songs and two covers (by The Modds and The Passions LP $21 SKU:23483

NEW CHRISTS-DIVINE RITES (Radio Birdman)Label:CITADEL The New Christs were originally formed by Radio Birdman and New Race vocalist Rob Younger after he was offered the support spot on Iggy Pop's Australian tour of 1984. T6/29/2020he other members had played in groups such as Celibate Rifles, Lime Spiders and Hoodoo Gurus. The tour proved a success and the band stayed together, recording the two singles Like A Curse and Born Out Of Time for Sydney independent label Citadel Records.
These releases gained acclaim for their tough and uncompromising nature and were soon released in Europe by French based label Sonics. With the prospect of an album deal and European tour possible, the other members however chose to return to their other band interests. Younger was left to pursue a career producing some of the finest upcoming Australian alternative bands.
In 1986 Barracudas bass player Jim Dickson returned to Australia from the UK and together with Younger started a new line-up. Featured were Charlie Owen, a gifted but as yet unknown guitarist and drummer Louis Burdett who soon left and was replaced by Nick Fisher who had previously played with Ed Kuepper and Wet Taxis. Over the next three years, the band released a series of hard hitting singles; Black Hole, Headin' South and the EP Dropping Like Flies. These new tracks were compiled under the title Divine Rites and released in Europe as a mini-album thus allowing the group to tour there for the first time.
The group then went on to record the landmark album Distemper but soon broke up, leaving Younger again with a long period of inactivity. Following the breakup all of the band's early tracks were compiled onto CD for the first time and released in 1990 under the title Divine Rites through Citadel's Germany imprint. CD $18 SKU:23317
OLIVERS - THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS 964-71 U.S. psych w 8 bonus tracks - Label:BREAK A WAY The Olivers from Fort Wayne, Indiana are best known for their highly sought after 1966 picture cover 45 on Phalanx Records titled 'I Saw What You Did' b/w 'Beeker Street'. The single got picked up by RCA Records for nationwide release and is today rated as one of the best and most exciting double sided major label garage 45s of the 1960s. A planned second single and LP release for RCA never happened. 'Complete Recordings, 1964-71' is a 15-track CD presenting the band's 1969 top notch psych album 'Lost Dove Sessions', featuring the nine minute long 'Jessica Ryder', the spooky 'Mushroom', the brooding organ driven 'The End', psychers such as 'Ball Of Fire', heavy rockers such as 'Free' and the trippy never ending 11-minute slashing guitar freakout of 'Social Slavery'. None less than eight bonus cuts are added to the CD including the group's sole double sided 1966 fuzzkiller 45rpm, two rare 1965 single releases by pre-Olivers garage band 'The Serfmen' responsible for one of the most ever snarling '60s punk version of Ronnie Love's 'Chills & Fever' plus three more incredible early Aldrich/Richie penned killer garage originals. The CD closes with a rare 45 recorded by former Olivers members under the name Triad. This amazing 60-minute trip through the sixties and captures the incredible talent and versatility of the Olivers and proves that the band does not only deserve the plaudit "Indiana Sixties Rock Heroes", but also had the potential for the national breakthrough that never happened. A 16-page booklet documents the band's long career as told by its original members and a cache of unseen photos completes the band's 1964-'71 history. CD $14 SKU:14793
ROOSTERS All of Our Days ( 60s jangly garage W stunning never-before-seen photos.) - Label:BREAK-A-WAY The Roosters have been known among fans and followers of the Californian mid 60s folk rock scene for a long time. Their “One Of These Days” b/w “You Gotta Run” 45 has been included on early garage compilations and is a huge favourite among collectors. Less well known is their second and at least as brilliant 45 “Rosebush” / “Ain’t Gonna Cry Anymore”. Additionally there´s a rare 1965 surf/mersey punk single released under the name “Five More”, an early 1965 acetate put down as the Avengers and most of all, three 1966 stunning unreleased folk/garage janglers recorded at Gold Star Studio. This collection finally puts all these gems in one place and unravels the enigmas behind the band on a LP sized full glossy insert with a detailed history of the band emerging from the memoirs of guitarist and songwriter Timothy Ward and the band’s vocalist Ray Mangigian. This is embellished with a load of stunning never-before-seen photos. Finally here´s the legacy of an underrated, but excellent band direct from Los Angeles, the mid-Sixties epicenter of jangle – The ROOSTERS! CD $10 SKU:19670
SEVENTH RING OF SATURN- ORMYTHOLOGY (60s psych Nuggets style)Label:NUSRAT LAST COPIES!!! CD edition housed in a hand-stamped miniature gatefold cardboard sleeve. On Ormythology, Selke and bandmates spin a weird spell combining a deeply groovy brand of '60s psychedelia with, at least sometimes, a 70s songwriting sensibility. There are beautiful tangles of buzzing guitar solo, drums that sounds as if they're being played with sticks the size of tree branches, bubblegum -y vocals. There's even a sitar effect, winding along above a rumbling bass groove. This is space rock at its finest - unapologetically retro freakouts with swirling , fuzz-drowned guitars. The Seventh Ring Of Saturn crafts deep psych rock and pop grooves that could have easily been culled from a long-forgotten cache of outtakes from Lenny Kaye's 'Nuggets' compilation, swimming in tripped-out improvasations and a total freak-out sound. Album includes cover versions of 'Faces"(T.C. Atlantic), 'Spaceman' (HURDY GURDY) and 'Karli Daglar' (ERKIN KORAY) CD $17 SKU:23280

TEK,DENIZ- GROUP -EQUINOX (RAdio Birdman)Label:CITADEL The fourth of Deniz's solo albums, Equinox features a complete band change and reversal of his usually minimalist production philosophy. An 11 Track solo album delving into a strange world of surreal vignettes and soundscapes. Bigger production and new band. CD $14 SKU:23300
