LOTS OF SAALE ITEMS & MORE TEST PRESSINGS!
The last of our product is arriving from the now defunct RAINBO RECORDS, home to so many indie labels for 80 years. We’re very sad to see them go, but the good news is that they were storing some very historical TEST PRESSINGS, now back here in our warehouse. Many of these tests were assumed to be gone forever, but it’s a treasure trove, including the first test for IGGY KILL CITY and lots of others. Keep an eye on our site for weekly adds, I’m getting to them when I can, and listing the IGGY here this week. These are sure to be very interesting for future collectors. Check our WAREHOUSE FINDS section for lots more tests and other items of interest from the amazing BOMP warehouse. These items won’t be back so don't snooze on it.
Also just listed, some more of those cassettes you love so much, and more LION TEST PRESSINGS, these are the last copies of these titles except as tests! And we have them all.
PLUS LOTS of SAALE items and adds to our famous LAST COPY section, huge discounts on things we’re clearing out. And of course some restocks and other bargains.
Thanks for all guys,
Suzy Shaw

MORNING REIGN - CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF IT (Prev unrel 60s garage psych)SAALE-Label:PERFECT TOY It does not happen very often anymore that unreleased music from 50 years ago surfaces. And it's even more unlikely that the songs put on tape are such treasures. But that is exactly what we have here. The Morning Reign was a crowd pleasing band that played throughout the Pacific Northwest during the years between 1966 and 1972. Their journey was peppered with lots of travel, whether they were playing gigs in Crescent City or Aspen, and they also made a gaggle of trips to LA to record, or once, to film a TV appearance. Surprisingly, they have released only four 45rpm singles during their existence although they had recorded enough material for an entire album. However, the songs remained in the can. This is the story of The Morning Reign, a band of young fellas who could have become famous and mentioned in the same breath as The Doors, Eric Burdon & WAR, and all the other music legends of the garage/psychedelic rock era - if their songs had been released back in the day. Dive in and enjoy the sound of Morning Reign, it is truly special. Perfect Toy Records are thrilled to be the label to finally release their work, and sincerely hope that they will finally receive the worldwide appreciation they so richly deserve. CD $15 SKU:20489

MOTHERS ANGER-ST -(SEATTLE PSYCH) PROD BY MICHAEL DAVIS MC5-Label:DIONYSUS The Mother's Anger is a two-piece psychedelic punk band from Seattle, WA that incorporates Middle-Eastern melodies and Drum n' Bass rhythms into a heavy, danceable, dream-like adventure
The Mothers Anger is a two-piece band from Israel that sounds like a five piece band from Detroit. Could this be because the debut full length by Drummer/Vocalist Jimi and Guitarist/Vocalist Stitch was produced by bassist Michael Davis of legendary Detroit rockers The MC5? You read that right, a two piece band in which the guitarist tunes a few strings to play the bass and guitar parts simultaneously, enters the studio with a producer who happens to be a famous bass player (and also plays on a track!). CD $3 SKU:19778
MOUNT CARMEL - GET PURE Digipack ( for Radio Moscow fans! ) - Label:ALIVE Amid the current industry of cool, Mount Carmel’s lack of gimmick is a welcome anachronism. The trio’s third album “Get Pure” is full of swagger, packed with great songs and inspired performances. This is true rock music like you haven’t heard in years. Crank it up!
Mount Carmel reeks of surging guitar riffs and thunderous backbeats. They’re a power trio in the truest sense of the term and certainly nowhere near as anonymous as their cover art would have you believe. As you may have guessed, this is an album for the heavy blues guitar freaks. – 194 CD $10 SKU:15855

MUSTANGS - And That’s for Sure- Riverside 60s garage legends Label:UGLY THINGS Full-color 16-page booklet packed with rare photos of the band, plus full liner notes by Mike Stax ) Two minutes and five seconds of tough fuzz, stomp and bad attitude, the Mustangs' 1965 single "That's For Sure" is considered one of the Holy Grails of '60s garage rock. That one, hopelessly rare 45 would be their only release. However, in January 1966 the Mustangs went into Locy Sound in Riverside, California, where they recorded 14 more songs, demonstrating not only their dynamism and versatility as a live cover band, but also their remarkable talent for original material, from wailing rockers to haunting Beatlesque ballads. Those tracks are presented here for the first time, along with "That's For Sure" and its grooving instrumental flipside "Nova Blues." This CD only release includes a full-color 16-page booklet packed with rare photos of the band, plus full liner notes by Mike Stax. CD $8 SKU:4641
MYSTIC EYES-OUR TIME TO LEAVE! (primal ‘60s garage rock sound.)Label:GET HIP 4 bonus tracks. If ever there was a band that could do justice to a ‘60s folk-rock chestnuts like “Clam Me Down,” it’s the Mystic Eyes. And on this LP, they prove it yet again. “Clam Me Down” is not only faithful to the original in form and delivery, but also recreates the feel of the primal ‘60s garage rock sound. But as good as their take on the Human Expression hit is, it doesn’t compare to the absolutely breathtaking originals that they churn out on this LP. 14 songs in all including a couple choice covers. CD $12 SKU:21822

NERVES - One Way Ticket (powerpop legends ) digipack -Label:ALIVE After nearly 30 years of being transmitted in the form of bootlegs and mixtapes, of being covered by other bands, of becoming the stuff of rock & roll legend, the Nerves' four-song EP has finally seen a proper reissue on Alive Records' new One Way Ticket - along with unreleased tracks, demos and live cuts. NEUTRAL SPIRITS -ST (1972 private press psych jewel)Label:GEAR FAB One of those privately pressed jewels from 1972, with a great weird garagy PSYCHEDELIC sound, we are all hunting after. Doors-inspired music with great fuzz sound and distorted guitars. Their songs range from songs of protest such as 'Speaking Freeley' and Flying' to the 7 minute fuzz-fest 'Flower'. Only 500 originals were pressed 400 of which were destroyed in a fire, so remaining originals are very hard to come by and go for the 4 digits in bucks, and still hardly ever pop up. Featuring nice photos and story of the band. CD $10 SKU:21724
TITTY TWISTER -GIMMIE SOME NOISE (Japanese punk/rock and roll) Label:DEAD BEAT Titty Twister are Japan’s best kept secret weapon maintaining their heavy activity in the Japanese Punk / Rock ‘n Roll scene for well over a decade now. They formed out of their mutual love for first wave NYC punk bands like the Ramones, Dead Boys, Heartbreakers and the New York Dolls and those first-wave finger prints are inked all over their fourth album ‘Gimmie Some Noise’. With loud slashing guitars and Thunders licks galore they fuse their power punk electricity with the girl group bubblegum-pop hooks of bands like the Go-Go’s, Blondie, the Ronettes and Nikki And The Corvettes. ‘Gimmie Some Noise’ is an infectious romp through Rock ‘n Rolls more electrifying side with songs that run the gamut from loud'n'fast three-chord Ramones punkers to brut, guitar-swinging, bar room rockers to ’60s girl group pop boppers all forged with Titty Twister’s contagious, combination of poppy bubblegum melodies and muscular, gritty guitar work. It’s a high energy album oozing with ear-candy hooks spewed across 12 buzzsaw slices of rowdy blitzkrieg pop. CD $14 SKU:20799

COMP LP $22 SKU:18392
STRIP-O-RAMA + CD- Vol 3 (50s and 60s strip morsels?) Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY Perhaps the densest (and most scandalous) compilation yet by the ever daring El Vidocq. Already a third folding album that opens to teasingly reveal more sumptuous "strip music" morsels. Indeed, the 1950s and '60s represent an inexhaustible source of delicious tunes, most of which just never hit it off with the media or masses. Once again, our indefatigable connoisseur raises the curtain on an arousing series of smooth tunes, with their languid rhythms, well-rounded melodies and cheeky grooves. An exciting mix of styles struts its stuff in various states of undress: rockabilly (Rusty & Doug Kershaw, Clyde Stacy), pop (Betty Reilly, Ella Johnson), crooner (Louis Jordan), rock (Chuck Miller), swing jazz (Joanie Sommers), burlesque (The Ramcocks), r'n'b (Gino Parks)... An eminently naughty selection of musical gems to peel off one by one. COMP LP $22 SKU:20715

PANDORAS, THE - It's About Time PURPLE! (Psychedelic fuzz goddesses)Label:VOXX Psychedelic fuzz goddesses The Pandoras were the first, and in many ways the most original, of L.A.'s garage revival bands. With the help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate only psych-folk albums in the mid-70s (“Heterophonies”, “Bloody Turkey Sandwiches”…) which are prime examples of early DIY psychedelic music, highly sought-after since a review of “Heterophonies” appeared on the Galactic Ramble book. In 2013, collector Alexandre Mansuy (from the influential “Somewhere There Is Music” blog), having only listened to their “Heterophonies”album, found John and Colin and was astonished when they told him their story: “Heterophonies” was only one of their many, many great recordings, 22 in all, including 45s, acetates and tapes. Those included complete, and to date unperformed, opera for schools, a song-cycle about Luton, a town they knew nothing about; songs designed to be played backwards, songs which are slightly offensive and others which are too offensive to play at all, anywhere, ever. “The Robinson Scratch Theory”, is a compilation featuring tracks originally recorded between 1980 and 1986 and released as private cassettes. Pig Rider’s sound bring to mind obscure DIY bands like Desperate Bicycles, Instant Automatons or Beyond The Implode but only if those bands knew how to write catchy and well-crafted songs LP $15 SKU:20922

PLIMSOULS- Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal (AMAZING 70s POWERPOP) purple vinylLabel:ALIVE Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal" showcases the PLIMSOULS at the height of their power, tearing the roof off and on the verge of starting a riot on L.A.'s old Sunset Strip. Recorded at the Whisky A Go Go on October 31, 1981, this previously unreleased live album includes many of The Plimsouls' classics as well as plenty of surprises. It has been stunningly remastered, features previously unpublished and gorgeous photos by renowned photographer Bob Matheu. LP $18 SKU:13868
POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology ( Great 70s power pop! ) CLASSIC BLACK VINYL -Label:BOMP The Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. PRIMA DONNA- Nine Lives and Forty Fives - YELLOW VINYL - ROCK AND ROLL! Glitter punk Label:ALIVE Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of punk and glitter rock, Prima Donna are infamous on the LA scene. Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, Glen Matlock & The Philistines, The Dictators, and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs.
While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is “Nine Lives and Forty Fives”, a 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in US. The song was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. LP $10 SKU:16433
QUATERMASS (ST (70s power prog-rock trio) DBL Label:AKARMA Repress. Quartermass made one self-titled album in 1970 and that was the end of them. Its a shame that they came and went so fast. They could have been very popular with the proper management and backing, but it was not meant to be. This group was a power prog-rock trio along the lines of the early Atomic Rooster. The trio was John Gustafson (vocals, bass), Mick Underwood (drums), and Pete Robinson (keyboards). John Gustafson voice was similar to Ian Gillans. Their sound was not only interesting and captivating; it was complete and full-bodied with the three people and the three instruments that they played. We can only wonder what could have happened if they met with more success and continued to develop. We are glad that we have this great album to enjoy and to add to our prog-rock classics lists LP $29 SKU:21881
RABBLE RABBLE- Composure (PSYCH LSD space trip) SWIRL VINYL -SAALE! Label:EYE VYBE RECORDS (USA) Rabble Rabble spent nearly a decade building a heavy reputation for raucous basement shows where any attendee will inevitably leave the room drenched in beer and twice as drunk as before. The addition of Kieterang See Jru (also of Strychnine, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate) in 2013 effectively spiked the band's punch with a healthy dose of LSD, and soon their live shows became full on psychedelic space trips, infusing the heavy, reckless garage punk they built themselves on with krautrock rhythms, proto metal edge and a dash of Smashing Pumpkin-esque guitar leads. Composure is a great finale to the trip that was Rabble Rabble. Limited to 300 copies, 12 min/side; plays at 45 rpm; includes lyric insert; pressed on random marble swirl vinyl by gotta groove records. LP $10 SKU:19484
RATIONALS--10” Temptation Bout to get Me (60s Detroit ) Label:TOTAL ENERGY LAST COPIES When serious collectors compose lists of the top shoulda-been-bigger bands of the '60s, the Rationals are often among them. Coming out of the same Ann Arbor, MI scene that gave birth to the MC5 and the Stooges, the group's forte was a sort of garageish take on blue-eyed soul, built around the fine RB-hued vocals of frontman Scott Morgan. Their mid-'60s singles, however, didn't break in many areas outside of Michigan (where they had some big local hits), and by the time they got to record an album, they had long passed their peak.the Rationals actually predated the MC5/Stooges by quite some time, both chronologically and stylistically. When they began recording for the local A2 label in 1965, they were, like many garage bands, heavily influenced by the British Invasion, although they gave their material a more soulful flavor than most similar units. "Gave My Love" was a chart-topper in Ann Arbor (and a hit in Detroit), as was a follow-up single of "Respect" (which predated Aretha Franklin's version). Picked up for national distribution by Cameo/Parkway, it nudged into the lowest regions of the national charts as well.” LP $10 SKU:22014

MOVEMENTS-LIKE ELEPHANTS 2 (Swedish psych rock) -Label:CRUSHER In the fall of 2013 psychedelic rock band The Movements, from Gothenburg, Sweden, released their long-awaited album 'Like Elephants 1'. An album that was to score top reviews and end up at several music journalists "best-of-the-year" lists. The year 2014 sees the release of the second and final part, 'Like Elephants 2'. With 'Like Elephants 1' The Movements proclaimed their distance from today's fastfood consumption of songs pulled out of their context and instead dare to demand a greater commitment by the listener. That through these two volumes, which not only stand strong individually but together also create a whole, a kind of continuity. On 'Like Elephants 2' there is the catchy opening track 'Six Feet Under', spellbinding psychedelia in 'Stolen Love', and the raw and groovy 'Give It To Me' to name three of the ten well-crafted songs to be found on this album. MY EDUCATION -BAD VIBRATIONS (Texas psych) SAALE! WORKING CLASS DEVILS - Vol. 2: Fuzz, Vodka & Flowers – Polish Psychobeat 1965-1972" SAALE! Label:BEAT ROAD "A 16-track collection of Polish 1960's rarities. Just when you think you know all about the late 60's/early70's scenes on the planet, along comes the second volume of the mind-broadening Working-Class Devils series to deliver unbelievable cuts and bands. The favorite bands from volume 1 are all there including Krzysztof Klenczon & Trzy Korony's prime freakbeat/psych fuzz rocker, Zdrój Jana's trademark proto no-wave skronky-guitar weirdness or Niebiesko-Czarni horsing around again with a distortion pedal. The newcomers Wi lanie and Lancety take no prisoners with their crude US-style garage punk while Piotr Pastor & S o ce and Wi lanie 69 reveal more folk/hippie leanings thrown in for good measure; there's even a Nederbeat gem that… turns out to be Polish and many, many more. These sides no doubt make for the ultimate in what could be tolerated in an Eastern Bloc country during the Cold War. Most of the tracks are excruciatingly obscure recorded during the cold war and then were shelved before excavated here in their juvenile glory. Non of these is re-issued on vinyl to date, which would spare you years of crate-digging. Couple all that with great band pictures and well-researched and exciting English-written liner notes and you have one hell of a disc including songs that could stand proud alongside anything released in the Free World at the time. 500 copies only." OUT OF FOCUS-Four Letter Monday Afternoon DBL LP SAALE!Label:MISSING VINYL What do you get if you cross Jethro Tull with Pink Floyd and take away the Blues influence: Out Of Focus!” Lucky for us then that this excellent band from Munich made three extraordinary albums on the super-collectable Kuckuk label before fading away. Hennes Herring on keyboards (mainly Hammond organ), Remi Dreschler on guitars, Moran Neumuller on vocals and wind instruments, and Klaus Spöri and Stefan Wisheu on drums and bass respectively made an incredibly tight unit. Their music was somewhat similar to early British prog, but gradually evolved into a kind of jazz-rock of an XHOL Caravan type. Another view, this time from the invaluable Crack in the Cosmic Egg guide to Krautrock: “It seems amazing that a band were able to start off with a masterpiece and better it with each subsequent album, yet that's what Out Of Focus did! Existing for ten years or so, Out Of Focus were amongst the finest of German rock fusion bands. Formed in late 1968 in Munich, they rapidly established a stylish and refined blend of rock and jazz that also had psychedelic overtones. The early albums exhibited that unique character of Krautrock (akin to Xhol Caravan, Thirsty Moon, etc.), with pure invention in a music that transcends boundaries, taking the rock song beyond its normal format with extended instrumentals, featuring an abundance of solos and surprises. I would argue that Out Of Focus started excellent, and got even better with each album. Probably the finest of all their albums was the monumental double “Four Letter Monday Afternoon” (almost certainly a dedication to Soft Machine and their revolutionary “Third” album). It had mainly instrumental and lengthy tracks; although the first record of the set is a little more down to earth, the unprecedented surprise is the extended suite that encompassed the whole of the second LP. It's a shame that Kuckuck withdrew its interest in Krautrock in the mid-70's, as it left Out Of Focus without the chance of a contract elsewhere. There were plans for a release with the April/Schneeball collective in 1975, in fact an album was recorded, yet all that eventually emerged was one track on a festival LP, by which time they had changed into a more conventional jazz-rock band, featuring only one original member: Remigius Drechsler (who subsequently went on to Embryo). OUTSIDERS- CQ (60s Dutch garage) Intro by Mike Stax (editor of Ugly Things Magazine)- Label:JACKPOT * Deluxe Gatefold heavy duty silver foil jacket
* Color 4 page insert with Ronnie Splinter interview about the making of CQ
* Intro by Mike Stax (editor of Ugly Things Magazine)
* Limited Edition Vinyl Only Release
With The Outsiders still spoken of in hushed tones in even the deepest circles, were thrilled to help shine some light on what might be one of the most underrated bands ever. Originally released in Holland in October 1968, "CQ" (pronounced "Seek You") was the third and final album by Dutch garage punks The Outsiders. These rowdy teenagers from Amsterdam were part of the thriving "Nederbeat" scene with the band taking their cues from British and Stateside garage acts of the day (including singing entirely in English). "CQ" spans R&B, spacey experimental numbers, folk rock and a revved-up kind of punk that pre-dates the angular moodiness of what would become the no wave/post punk sound a decade later. This unpredictable stylistic approach, when coupled with across-the-board amazing songs, make this one of the masterpieces of late 60s psychedelic garage rock, and a cornerstone album of the genre. Pressed in a vinyl-only limited edition, this deluxe reissue is replicated precisely with gorgeous silver foil cover art. Extensive liner notes include a 2009 interview with lead guitarist Ronnie Splinter about the recording of the album and an exclusive introduction by Mike Stax, editor of Ugly Things magazine. OUTSIDERS- CQ MYTHOLOGY (GATEFOLD 2LP) 60s Dutchgarage ) - Label:PSEUDONYM RECORDS (NETHERLANDS) The original releases striking gatefold cover art, designed by artist Anton van der Gulik, was supposed to fold out into four rather than two panels. But apart from the album sleeve that Polydor has released, Van der Gulik made a second design. Its a compelling document of a true masterwork-in-progress. LP $28 SKU:13502
P205- Vivat Progressio Pereat Mundus (Ultra rare 70s mystical German Heavy Psych) SEAM DAMAGE BARGAIN!Label:GOLDEN PAVILLION shrink wrapped, but a little damage (less than 1/2 inch) to the top seam, GREAT deal. Ultra rare mystical German Heavy Psych gem. First time reissued on vinyl. Founded in Wendelstein near Nuremberg in 1970, P205’s sole LP saw a release only in 1978 on the collectable Brutkasten label. These guys were delivering quite unique live shows with pyrotechnics, burning torches and fog in a sinister decor with their faces painted very much like KISS did. The music has a progressive and mystical edge close to Pink Floyd and the harder raw and darker side of Black Sabbath and Paternoster. Fully sung in English. Here’s a fully licensed offcial release, faithful to the rare original LP. For fans of Black Sabbath, Paternoster, Lava, UFO—or fans of Virus and My Solid Ground” LP $18 SKU:21864
PATERNOSTER -ST ( acid fueled Krautrock 1972) SAALE!-Label:OHRWASCHL Prime Krautrock (albeit from Austria), circa 1972—what goths would have listened too had there been goths back then! hippy psychedelic acid-fueled downer rock, complete with full-blown psychedelic guitar freakouts, coupled with somber church-like organ and a vocalist who sounds on the verge of tears throughout the album. Oh so sad. This is a complex album, to be sure, with terrific flights into the cosmos often compared to those fine Krautrock exemplars Gila and Virus. A most melancholic, wonderful record, the sort of thing that all too often is relegated to the prog/psych collectors corner; an odd, but excellent, hidden treasure that shares a dark mentality with the likes of Comus. PELOMA BOKIOU - ST (underground Greek rock 1972)SAALE! DBL LP - Label:APS NOVA(Greece) Peloma Bokiou were a short-lived underground Greek rock band that released only one album in 1972 and three singles (1970-71). A recipe for being utterly forgotten, if not for the fact that their sole album is one of the best rock/progerssive albums from Greece (yes, this statement holds true even for a nation which produced tremendous bands like Socrates, Aphrodite’s Child, and Axis). Vlassis Bonatsos ended up becoming a television and film star in Greece, until his untimely death in 2004. This mega-limited numbered edition of 250 copies includes all of the band’s ultra-rare singles tracks too. Great organ and guitar work!" LP $24 SKU:20959
PENTAGON -Die Vertreibung der bösen. (70s German blues prog) SAALE! .Label:GARDEN OF DELIGHTS (Germany): "Pentagon was the first group on the small Munich label German Blues and Underground, which later on also released the two Siloah records. The 7” single was supposed to be followed by an LP, but it never got beyond the dubplate/acetate stage, a kind of demo pressing. A music cassette, however, was released, the simple cover of which was used for the LP cover, too. Although very young at the time, the three musicians already played respectable blues rock. The tracks of side 2 of the vinyl album were taken from the master tape, the tracks of side 1 were digitally decrackled by Cedar’s NoNoise system. It’s a first-class find, saved from oblivion in the very last minute. The title means in English “The expulsion of the evil spirits from the Pentagon”. Limited edition of 1000 numbered LPs. Comes with 8-page LP sized booklet. LP $22 SKU:20883

Produced by 'Green Tambourine' hit maker Paul Leka, the album that followed featured 10 more slices of juicy bubblegum pop including a second Top 10 smash, 'Don't Wake Me Up In The Morning, Michael.' The band cut two further singles both added here but by late '69s it was all over as the sound of love faded from the airwaves. First time on CD in the UK for this bubblegum classic. PLASTIC PENNY - Two Sides of a Penny - 180 gram (UK 60s psych pop) SAALE! Label:RADIATION DELUXE UK psych-pop group Plastic Penny released this, their debut LP, in 1968 on Kinks' manager Larry Page's Page One label. The opening track, 'Everything I Am' - written by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham, and originally recorded by Alex Chilton's group The Box Tops - was a #6 hit on the UK charts in early '68. While that was the extent of most of the world's exposure to Plastic Penny at the time, the rest of the album is a glorious slice of orchestral psych-pop with light progressive touches, and in the intervening years it has become a highly sought-after collector's item. Fetching three figures on the online market, 'Two Sides Of A Penny' has moody arrangements, killer guitar work, swirling organ, and hooks galore, along with vocals reminiscent of the aforementioned Kinks' Davies brothers as well as a taste of Joe Cocker. PREVOST, GREG "STACKHOUSE”-UNIVERSAL VAGRANT-((Stones,Yardbirds ,NY Dolls style).)Label:MEAN DISPOSITION After a career lasting close to four decades, it was only two years ago when Greg decided to launch his first solo record: the celebrated "Mississippi Murderer”, an album where Delta blues and hi-energy R&R were combined in a masterful mix heavily influenced by the likes of the Stones, the Yardbirds and NY Dolls. This recording has become a cult classic, but the ever adventurous Prevost is now back with a brand new artifact: "Universal Vagrant". This second album goes one step further than his previous waxing and can be safely described as the best recording in his long and illustrious career. It also confirms what those in the know already knew: the fact that Prevost is a top-notch songwriter, one of the coolest R&R singers ever, and that he has a deep understanding of the roots of his music...be them the original blues greats ("Moanin' The Blues", "Mean Red Spider"); the personal idols inscribed in his DNA, Keith Richards and Johnny Thunders ("Gin Soaked Time Warp", "Shot of Rock and Roll", or the superb, gospel-oriented "Lord Shine a Light on Me"), as well as the dark, dangerous Stooges-infused sounds ("Evil On My Mind" or his killer version of "Codine"). Here you have the results: a perfect production, an explosive sound, a recording cooked with ease and among friends, but with edge, attitude and sheer class. This is a first rate R&R album where all pieces fit neatly. No mean feat. LP $14 SKU:18291
PRODIGAL SONS -Emerge From The Void (Killer hard rock from 1972) DINGED CORNER DISCOUNT!Label:VOID Very small dinged corner. GREAT deal. Killer hard rock from 1972, sounds like a mix of Bolder Damn and Allman Brothers, with maybe a little Feather Da Gamba. Lost music from a lost time. The mystery and music of The Prodigal Sons continues to thrill and mesmerize listeners to this day. Who are they? Where are they? The answers my friend lay in the vault of the Void. An extremeley consistent blend of heavy metal, power-trio hard rock, and some boogie blues driven hard rock, featuring good wah-wah guitar. A great party album, leading one to believe they must have been a truly excellent live act. If you like Wildfire, Tin House and early BTO you will dig this! There's even some British influence (John's Tune, Saga Of Yeti) here. This is a killer throughout, and unknown heretofore." LP $14 SKU:21093
PSYCHOTIC YOUTH - 21 (legendary power-pop-surf-punk heroes) SALE!~ - Label:WATERSLIDE/TARGET EARTH “After an 18-year gap between the band's classic LP Stereoids and the triumphant comeback The Voice of Summer, we only had to wait two years for 21. And this album is everything you would expect from Psychotic Youth. It's a whole lot of power pop, a little bit of garage, a little bit of punk, and a little bit of surf. The harmonies are to die for, and as always Jörgen absolutely excels at writing about matters of the heart. He will devastate you with his songs about loss, longing, and relationships gone sour - and then turn around and write something like "You're The One" that reminds us of why we bother to endure all of that heartbreak in the first place. I always have to chuckle when people criticize pop-punk or power pop bands for writing love songs and not tackling more "important" topics. Seriously? The quest for love has defined our species and its art for thousands of years. What could be more important than that?! I think we become even more aware of this as we get older, which explains why Jörgen is writing some of his most powerful material in his 50s. LP $10 SKU:21472

QUICK, BILL - MARAVILLOSA GENTE (70s obscure psych gem) -Label:TIME LAG Pressed on 180 gm audiophile grade vinyl, and limited to 1000 copiesDeluxe LP reissue of amazing little know gem (entitled “beautiful people”) from 1972. Born in Miami to an American father and Venezuelan mother, Bill split the USA and went to Madrid, Spain in the early 70s. Once there, he landed a recording deal with famous producer Alain Milhaud for the Explosion label, and set to work on this, his sole album. Sessions included an impressive cast of players in the studio, including Salvador Dominguez & Chema Pellicó (from Cerebrum), Jess Lam (Jess & James), and Frank Rojas (Sangre). One of the album’s real hidden treasures, though, was the assistance of unknown Texan Mark Gottschall, who co-wrote the title track and adds perfect vocal harmonies as well a second acoustic guitar. The album has an air of mystical psychedelia, and there's a real sun-blasted quality to it all that makes you want to crank the volume. The lyrics (all in English) feel deeply sincere; when combined with Quick’s unique voice, unusual accent, and loose delivery, it makes for one hell of a cool record. Reissued here for the first time, with the collaboration of original producer Milhaud. packaged in a heavy weight gloss coated exact reproduction of the original cover, including the original double sided insert, as well as a huge new full color foldout insert which reproduces at nearly full size the Brazilian version of the album art. Extensive notes by Salvador Dominguez, Mark Gottschall, and Alex Carretero (Guerssen Records, Spain). Art includes rare picture sleeves 45s, promotional inserts, lyric sheets; the LP labels reproduce the original psychedelic full color Explosion label art. LP $14 SKU:19296

RAVEN -Who Do You See(1972 hard rock prog)-Label:GOLDEN PAVILION George Phelps who had joined The Carnations met up with Goliath members in a studio and through a myriad of circumstances, teaming up with drummer Robert Wolff (ex "Micah") these musicians merged into Raven in Louisville KY in late 1972 (even though they were all fro Terra Haute, Indiana). From this moment on, the band toured extensively through 24 states non-stop for the next four years before recording this material in 1976, which remained unreleased until today. Soon after the recording was completed, Raven got a record deal with Capricorn records. Two weeks later, Capricorn went bankrupt. The tapes were subsequently destroyed in a fire. Raven was literally like fish out of water, and slowly but steadily what had felt like the beginning of something unique, was lost. Musically the album relies on a hard driving progressive sound with a very rhythmic approach, filled with virtuoso guitar & keyboard solos as well as pulsating bass lines in a hard-rock backing. Think Primus meets Emerson, Lake & Palmer with a touch of Yes, Deep Purple, Rush and Dream Theater. Features Robert Wolff, previously with Micah and currently with Corvus Stone. Limited to 500 copies LP $17 SKU:21072
