SODA POP KIDS- Teen Bop Dream (Dolls/ Bators style punk)Label:FULL BREACH One thing that the punk revivalists tend to forget is that the first wave of punk bands, from the Flamin' Groovies to the MC5 to the New York Dolls to the Ramones, were hugely influenced by '50s and pre-psych '60s rock. Treating 1977 as Year Zero produces music that lacks the beating rock & roll heart of a song like Blondie's "In the Flesh" or the Clash's "Brand New Cadillac." The Soda Pop Kids don't fall into this trap: Write Home owes as much to the early Beatles or even Buddy Holly as it does CBGB's. The songs are dead simple, sounding like two-minute pure pop blasts even when the song lengths creep up to over twice that long. Singer Jonny P. DOMNICKS - Super Real (Stems DM3 Someloves)Label:CITADEL digipack Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger 'n' roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard's pedigree boasts 80's Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones' replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. One thing is for sure, few people can claim so many identities in less than a decade. Composer, interpreter, producer & arranger, Milan is also all of these throughout the '60s. This anthology would like to pay homage to the man. The A side is dedicated to the singer and performer, and the B side to the producer and arranger. Unfortunately, Milan's fame was due to be short and by the end of the '60s he was diagnosed with a brain tumour and disappeared from the music business. LP $16 SKU:18505
