JOSEFUS --Not Dead Yet (Texas hard rock Unreleased 1978 Studio Sessions & Live)-Label:SHROOMANGEL Josefus are part of the first wave of Hard Rock bands formed in the end of the 60s, being the true pioneers of Heavy Rock in Texas. Their Dead Man album is one of the greatest American Hard Rock albums of the early 70s and deserves all the cult status it has been given all these years. The band resurfaced in the late 70s and then again in the late 80s, recording sporadically never abandoning their Bluesy Hard Rock roots. In the new millennium when everyone was thought the band was history, Josefus hits the stages again and keeps to this day active. This collection of rare material starts with 4 demo tracks from 1978, plus selected live cuts (mostly from 2012), where we can see the power of the band revived and refreshed after 5 decades of existence.
Presented in a 6-panel Digipak and limited to only 300 copies! Second in the Texas Rock Dyamonds Series. File Under: Heavy Rock, Blues Rock, Southern Rock, Psychedelic Rock. (LIMITED TO 300 COPIES - TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS SERIES) CD $14 SKU:24717

JUJUS- You Treat Me Bad 65-67 (60s garage psych PEbbles style ) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Since their arrival on the music scene in 1965, the mystique of The JuJus and their lead singer, Ray Hummel, has continued to grow over the ensuing decades (helped along by the inclusion of 'You Treat Me Bad' on the first volume of Pebbles in 1979). Their first single 'You Treat Me Bad' rose to the number two position on the top 40 and catapulted the band to regional fame in Michigan. The JuJus initially blended an impressive brand of folk-rock and British-invasion sounds with a raw garage band sound. In 1967 they opted for a more psychedelic sound. Compiled on this CD are all the JuJu singles, as well as a plethora of unreleased gems from 1965 to 1967. A detailed booklet contains photos, radio surveys, band memorabilia, and a retrospective of The JuJus as related by band member Rod Shepard. The front cover photo of The JuJus features Ray Hummel, Max Colley, Bill Gorski and Rod Shepard. Also pictured are the JuJus at Kent Country Airport during the heigh of JuJu-mania, ready to take on the world in 1965." CD $10 SKU:23101

KATH - 1 Obscure garage psych ACID ARCHIVES FAVE! - DBL CD Label:LION (original album) + Unreleased Material -...As Patrick the Lama said in Acid Archives, “Obscure and impressive melodic basement garage/psych excursion with a lo-fi atmosphere that would have most purveyors flip out, hits the Ampex two-track echo & tinny drum sound dead on.... At times the vibe is almost like Mystery Meat or Index, and that's not something you run across every day. KENSINGTON MARKET- Avenue Road (60s pop) LAST COPIES! Label:PACEMAKER A staple on the Yorkville Village scene in Toronto during the mid-to-late '60's, Kensington Market were discovered in 1967 by musical entrepreneur Bernie Finkelstein (who would later help The Paupers and Bruce Cockburn, among others). Finkelstein was able to land the band a record deal with Warner Brothers. In 1968 Kensington Market did the soundtrack to the NFB film "The Ernie Game"—a big deal for a Canadian band. That same year they released their debut album, “Avenue Road,” (named after a street that intersects Yorkville Avenue). It was a modest effort, noteworthy for decent pop instincts and solid songwriting. This album tinkles like wind-chimes, refracts light like a sun-catcher in the window, has the charm of a luminous crescent moon candle, glow-in-the dark stars on the bedroom ceiling. Kensington Market were produced by Felix Pappalardi of Mountain fame, who also produced the Cream. Kensington Market were: Gene Martynec (keyboard, guitar, vocals), Keith McKie (rhythm guitar, vocals), Luke Gibson (guitar, vocals), Alex Darou (bass), and Jimmy Watson (drums & percussion). Same personnel both albums. Martynec later showed up as an arranger on Lou Reed's “Berlin” album! A band ripe for rediscovery. CD $10 SKU:19936

"With their stellar musicianship and impeccable style, a more perfect album is scarce. Intent on bringing back the neglected elements of swing, they infuse it with barhouse boogie-woogie, gospel, and ragtime. It's surprisingly authentic, as these boys have obviously done their homework. The lyrics are superb, with a sense of humore bigger than a plate of pasta at your aunt Dora's, and nearly as big as her. Not ones to skimp, they give up a fifteen songs here without a single clunker." - E. Wadharmi / Lollipop CD $25 SKU:2271

LEOPOLD, PERRY - Experiments in Metaphysics (70s hippie artifact)Label:GEAR FAB Experiment in Metaphysics is one of the rarest and most sought-after artifacts of the hippie era. Recorded live during a five-hour session in the basement of a shoe-repair shop in June of 1970, most of the 300 original copies of Experiment in Metaphysics were simply given away in one afternoon, yet, inexplicably, bootleg copies of the album later sprang up half-way around the world. The reason for the album's staying power is apparent: the music is gorgeous, first-rate progressive folk. In fact, Side Two of the original LP's label was given the title "Acid-Folk" (the other side was called "Kommercial"), probably one of the very first uses of that term. Perry Leopold creates a proto-gothic ambience full of dark and brooding imagery that is much less cartoonish than most of what passes as "acid," while maintaining that music's visceral punch. Like much of the youth countercultural scene of the times, Leopold can occasionally give into mystical pretentiousness. Experiment in Metaphysics has moments -- namely the spoken-word monologue in the middle of the mostly stellar opening cut, "The Absurd Paranoid" -- of philosophical meandering. Still, even those moments maintain a period charm. Experiment in Metaphysics is exquisitely intelligent and forward-looking. Leopold's mood is much more pious than most music that came out of the psychedelic era, and, indeed, extreme piety tends to be a product of youth, yet there is something aged and wise about Leopold's music. The "Kommercial" side, cryptically subtitled "SMOKE," is conceptually bleak, and after "The Absurd Paranoid," it takes on a much more palpable quality, grounded in experience ("Cold in Philadelphia" and the gorgeous "The 35th of May"). The "Acid-Folk" side (subtitled "DROP") opens with the stark, multi-part title track. Each of the three songs in this section is a virtual mini-suite, with the closing cut, "The U.S.S. Commercial," standing as the album's magnum opus. Experiment in Metaphysics shows some truly progressive and experimental songwriting, even for the time period. Each song, even the instrumental cuts, feels like a story, with beginnings and endings and all kinds of interesting ideas and storylines sandwiched in between. The album is a relic that has not lost one iota of its power. ~ Stanton Swihart CD $10 SKU:22317

LIFEBLUD - ESSE QUAM VIDERI(1970 folk /prog) -Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Ultra rare serene folk inflected progressive rock. Cherry Red used one song from a poor condition acetate on a recent compilation. 3 acetate copies were made in 1970, and Seelie Court used the only surviving near mint LP that's owned by an ex-member as source with great audio. The songs Oakenshade' and 'Waxing Of The Moon' are poetic genius, using a guitar with a damaged bridge to create a sitar like drone, the vocals have an air of resigned melancholia, and the lyrics connect with a mystical understanding of and reverence for nature. Issued with the full cooperation of all the band. Lifeblud later explored a heavier sound that sometimes hits the level of High Tide. CD $19 SKU:24824
LIFEBLUD - SOngs 1973-1978 (1970 rarity) DBLCD -Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Double CD with an awe inspiring 34-songs, these later tracks find Roger Knott taking on the Lifeblud mantle with various members of The Fixx, Adam and the Ants, and Ducks Deluxe helping out. Here Lifeblud reflect backwards and immerse themselves in the golden age of rock, drawing influences from Roy Orbinson, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, and British Pop Psych, as they steer into a glorious proggy pub rock that eventually morphed into punk. The musicians on this album spread outwards from this moment ending up with artists such as Nanci Griffith. CD $22 SKU:24827

SOLEDAD BROTHERS- The Hardest Walk - SWIRL VINYL plus INNER SLEEVE! Label:ALIVE LIMITED EDITION ON SPLATTER VINYL. OUT OF PRINT FOR MORE THAN A DECADE!
Discover or rediscover the band fifth and final studio album. Thanks in large part to singer-guitarist Johnny Walker’s soulful delivery, the Soledads are just as convincing when they stroll as when they chug, and such psychedelic numbers as “Loup Garou” and the sitar-meets-pedal-steel “True to Zou Zou” show that, despite a major debt to Jagger-Richards, the brothers have also paid attention to Brian Jones’s contribution to the late-‘60s Stones. – Mark Jenkins / The WASHINGTON POSTThe Motor City’s newest hitmakers. – Lauren Gitlin / ROLLING STONE..An album filled with many pleasantly surprising “one of these things is not like the others” moments. – Dan McIntosh / POPMATTERS…They remained cool enough right up to the end. – Joseph Neff / The VINYL DISTRICT LP $25 SKU:24634

SPARKLES -THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS Texas 60s garage (+7"/CD)-Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY The Sparkles were associated with the garage-band and psychedelic rock scene of 1960s Texas, as epitomized by their classic underground hit 'No Friend Of Mine'. The line-up changed few times before 1962, and Stanley Smith finally recruit Harold "Lucky" Floyd (drums and vocals), Donnie Roberts (guitar) and Bobby Smith (bass). Their first recording was the single 'U.T.' under the small label Caron. This third incarnation proved a great hit among the clubs of West Texas, notably the Music Box and The Village Swinger. Indeed, in 2000, local legend Joe Ely described them as the "city's best rock'n'roll band" in the history of the Lubbock music scene published by Texas Monthly. Interestingly, The Sparkles boasted a pair of drummers, with one, the flamboyant Harold Floyd, also lending his voice to their performances. 1966 would constitute a turning point for The Sparkles. Larry Parks -drummer for Roy Orbison, turned producer in Nashville, Tennessee- invited them to sign with Hickory Records, the historic music label founded by Roy Acuff and Fred Rose in 1954. The band came up with 'The Hip', which proved an immediate hit in Austin and extremely popular within the fraternity scene at the University of Texas. On a roll, The Sparkles then recorded 'Something You Said' followed by 'Jack And The Beanstalk'. In 1967, The Sparkles, already a decade old, recorded their chef-d'oeuvre 'No Friend Of Mine', with Nunn's raging guitar riffs and Floyd's remarkably tense vocals. This fiery tour de force would be consecrated by its inclusion on the first CD set of the legendary compilation 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968'. Following their final single, 'Hipsville 29 B.C.', for Hickory Records, The Sparkles once again entered rocky waters, with Nunn and Holt finally deciding to throw in the towel in 1968. Floyd, Smith and Marriot immediately set sail for California, along the way renaming their group The Pearly Gate. This brief interlude would include a handful of appearances on the ABC sitcom 'Judd, For The Defense'. Legend has it, they were also scheduled to perform before Bobby Kennedy the evening of his tragic assassination on June 5th 1968... Returning to Texas, Floyd, Smith and Marriot resurrected The Sparkles, bringing into the fold Steve Weisberg, future guitarist for John Denver. But Floyd's departure in 1975 for California to join Red Wilder Blue spelled the end of this group's 15-year musical odyssey, a tumultuous journey typical of such modest rock'n'roll heroes posthumously crowned by multiple thematic compilations. However, the one you're now holding constitutes the very first anthology dedicated to these incredible Texans LP $30 SKU:21875

SPOILS OF WAR - ST (PRE MORMOS PSYCH )60s DOUBLE-LP with POP-UP GATEFOLD SLEEVE and a BONUS 7-INCH! Label:WAH WAH A fantastic release offering the complete late '60s recordings from US pre-MORMOS outfit SPOILS OF WAR. Before relocating to France, where he formed the highly regarded prog/psych-folk unit MORMOS in the early '70s, American musician James Cuomo was the creative force of The Spoils Of War. This interesting band combined psychedelic rock with adventurous electronic experimentation, comparable to f.i. The United States Of America/Joe Byrd And The Field Hippies and 50 Foot Hose, with a dash of folkrock due to the contributions from female vocalist Annie Hat. Back in the day the band only released two rare 7-inches, but thanks to the -now out of print- releases from Shadoks Records, Spoils Of War achieved cult status afterall. Now this deluxe Wah-Wah Records double-LP collects the remastered '60s studio recordings from the band, complete with previously unissued material, making for a splendid release. Also included are a repress of the debut 7-inch, a sticker, full colour pix, and liner notes from Jim Cuomo and Klemen Breznikar (It's Psychedelic Baby). Essential for psych lovers and collectors everywhere! LP $45 SKU:24156

"Awash with bursts of energy and moves into industrial punk territory with krautrock influences." - The Guardian LP $20 SKU:17196
STEVE BROWN BAND- Soul Full of Sin (70s cool jazz)-Label:SEELIE COURT Steve brown formed this outfit in 1971, and they quickly developed a tight style of cool but potent jazz rock, characterised by lengthy powerful instrumental breaks and sax, and infectious beats. This LP pieces together what should have been a debut record on Transatlantic from remaining studio tapes and acetate sources. The six tracks are pure killer, opening with ‘Hitman’ which is sung first person from the point of view of an assassin for hire; stone cold cool with a fantastic bass-line and rhythm it conjurs up early seventies nihilistic film and tv imagery. The side ends with a genuine lost anthem in ‘Shine A Light,’ epic and melancholic. The lyrics are fab, and have a worldly wise quality about them. One of the greatest bands no one has heard of, hereby rescued from slipping into the ether, despite once being on the verge of a deal with Transatlantic and garnering a massive live following in their native Newcastle area during the early to mid seventies. A completely pro band, with brilliant songs, and a unique style. In 1973, the band hit a bad patch, burnt out by extensive gigging, they crashed their Transit Tour Van on a motorway, miraculously surviving. LP $32 SKU:24688
STEVENS, MEIC - SEPTEMBER 1965: TONY PIKE SESSIONS ( lost acid folk classic) Label:TENTH PLANET Regarded as a national treasure in his native Wales. In 1965 however he was just another Dylan/Donovan folkie. In 1965 he recorded this batch of songs to hawk around the various labels as a finished album. Unfortunately the acetates were lost. Recently rediscovered and including previously unheard songs like "Winter of the clan", "Not for me mister MP" and "It ain't for me to ask the reason why". This is the first ever release of this long lost demo album. 190 Gram, vinyl only pressing including liner notes by Meic and limited to 1000 copies. LP $21 SKU:24291

The LP was originally pressed in a super limited run of 25 copies, which nowadays are obviously unaffordable! Sir John Graves, who after his musical career became a leading authority on the psychiatry of drug addiction, recorded this delightful, somewhat Donovanesque LP with two friends (Valentine Lewis Lloyd and Martin Farquharson) in Wales when he was only 17 years old. TELESCOPES -THIRD WAVE (Random color vinyl) ltd ed of 200-Label:Weisskalt Records Originally released in 2002 on Double Agent Records, 'Third Wave' heralded the return of The Telescopes after a 10 year hiatus. With Lawrie's innovative experimentation of computer technology (contemporary at the time) amongst other influences outside of the formal music studio environment, the consequence is an album exquisitely divergent from its predecessors. 19 years later in 2021, Weisskalt Records are delighted to present the long awaited and oft requested 'Third Wave' reissue featuring new album art, another testament to its long abiding resonance and relevance. To this day, The Telescopes remain an enigmatic entity, continually pushing the boundaries of sonic possibility. "Third Wave saw the iconic space rock of The Telescopes revived for a third studio album in 2002. The aptly titled 'Third Wave' embraced ambience and texture to create a sound world that was simultaneously becalming and disorientating. The album marks The Telescopes as a house of many rooms, pushing the boundaries of sonic possibilities. Full-on head music with a hallucinogenic agenda." ~Norman Records. Limited to 250 copies. UP - Killer Up! 10” SEALED Label:Total Energy The Up is one of those "should've been" bands. Similar in sound to Blue Cheer and political philosophy to MC5, Killer Up represents the complete recordings of the Detroit band from the '60s. Save for two singles, none of this material was released by the band while it was still together between 1967-1973. The Up was closely aligned with MC5, living with them in the White Panther Party commune in Ann Arbor and often sharing the bill with them at area concerts. But while the Five and fellow Michiganders the Stooges got record deals and fame, Up remained a regional act.The disc features both of Up's singles, plus several songs from a recording session at Head Sound Studios in Ypsilanti, MI, and some live cuts recorded at the Agora Ballroom in Columbus, OH, in 1972.High volume cuts like "Just Like an Aborigine" and "Free John Now" are further examples to back up the argument that punk rock was invented in '60s Detroit. It's hard to imagine Up gaining a mass audience, but the music on this disc makes one wonder why the band never broke on a large scale outside of the Midwest. LONG OUT OF PRINT ONLY TEST PRESSINGS LEFT LP $75 SKU:22498

WEED DEMON CRATER MAKER (stoner rock) GOLD VINYLLabel:ELECTRIC VALLEY Not for the faint of heart, 'Crater Maker' launches with eleven minutes of instrumental stoner rock to set the mood. By the time you get to the devastating vocals of 'Serpent Merchant' you know you're in for a rare treat. Infused with bluesy roots and defined by a search for the perfect tone, 'Crater Maker' is a sonic quest like few others. Their worship of bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard is apparent throughout, but these Columbus, Ohio doomsters are clearly in touch with another side of themselves on this record. An album that rewards multiple listens, it promises to be a worthwhile listen for doom freaks across the globe. Electric Valley Records has once more signed a winner - are you ready to join them on the journey to this riff filled land? LP $25 SKU:23208
WEIRDOS Destroy All Music (70s LA PUNK LEGENDS) STARBURST VINYL W. ORIG INSERT! Label:BOMP The Weirdos were in many ways the greatest of L.A.'s punk bands. In early 1977 their mighty sound and singular style were the big-bang igniting the L.A. punk rock scene, as they proclaimed "we're not punks, we're weirdos from Hollyweird!". This wasn't just goofy sloganeering, this was a stance intended to distinguish them from the burgeoning punk rock scenes in New York and London. The Weirdos were not only bringing a new sound and writing teen punks anthems, they were also responsible for their graphics (posters, covers, flyers) and designed their own clothes! Their 1977 Bomp single "Destroy All Music" was a nihilistic anthem, and is now regarded as a classic, and by the time they made their mini-LP two years later they had turned into a powerful, polished band, without losing any of their outrageous attitude. "Destroy All Music - 30th Anniversary Edition " compiles the now classic 1977 EP Bomp and the 1979 "Who, What, When, Where, Why?" mini-LP in its entirety and includes previously unreleased early demos. LP $25 SKU:21177

In 1972 the guys were finalists in a talent contest organized by Melody Maker magazine. The band's album includes the side-long title-track which has to be heard to be believed. In Hans Pokora's '7001 Record Collectors Dream' guide 'Parable' has been given the maximum rarity scale rating. This reissue includes an insert with liner notes and photos. LP $25 SKU:23551
WHITE NOISE SOUND- St- w Pete Kember of Spacemen 3 -RED VINYL LAST COPIESLabel:ALIVE WHITE NOISE SOUND is the eponymous debut from the Swansea/Cardiff, Wales-based sextet. Completed with the help of Pete Kember (Spacemen 3, Spectrum and E.A.R) and magician Cian Ciaran (Super Furry Animals), the album is is a psychedelic dream-piece, and the realization of a band conjuring their own particular wall-of-sound -- at once relentlessly pulsating and blissed-out. …"In this day and age of ironic and increasingly obtuse band names, a band like White Noise Sound is refreshing. Like the heyday of generic foodstuffs, what you see on the label is exactly what you get here (...) WNS has been influenced by earsplitting bands from both sides of the Atlantic, including Velvet Underground, Suicide, Jesus And Mary Chain and of course the aforementioned Spacemen 3." – MOKB …"Blending corrosive feedback, pulsating krautrock rhythms, floating vocals and wall-of-sound guitars, the track (Sunset) builds and builds into a perfectly judged ear-shattering, blissed out climax." - The Mad Mackerel…"If you're gonna (essentially) cover Spacemen 3's 'Revolution' in 2010, good god this is the way to do it." - ArthurLP $15 SKU:14332
