Yet as Alice Cooper's Greatest Hits record attests, the grandfather of shock rock brought much more to the rock arena than boa constrictors and simulated decapitations. In addition to classic hard rock anthems like "I'm Eighteen," "No More Mr. Nice Guy," and "School's Out," Cooper unleashed rollicking barroom rockers like "Under My Wheels" and tugged at the heartstrings with cuts like "Desperado" and "Hello Hooray." In retrospect, his songs have more in common with the Who and the Faces than with Black Sabbath or Judas Priest. A pivotal moment in the Hawkwind story, this 1975 LP is their prime-period masterpiece of progressive hard rock; it was during the tour for this LP that Lemmy was fired from the band. HUMBLE PIE -THUNDERBOX -2012 JEWEL CASE RELEASE- Label:LEMON NOTE: NOT SEALED MINT DISC. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP. Digitally remastered edition of this 1974 album from the British Blues/Boogie band led by former Small Faces main man Steve Marriott. Twelve songs appear here, six of them covers, Ann Peebles song 'I Can't Stand the Rain' once referred to by John Lennon as the perfect single; 'Anna (Go to Him)' originally written and performed by Arthur Alexander and 'Oh La-De-Da' by the Staple Singers. Incidentally, the word Thunderbox is a 17th century slang word for the toilet which gives an example of Humble Pie's sense of humor. The cover shows a keyhole through which a woman can be seen sitting on a toilet. We're doing a presale to see how many we will need. Will ship in early October. Deerfield "Nil Desperandum” Flat Rock Records FRS 1: Original copies from 1971 of this private press release by this obscure Texas late night psych rock band. Some acid fuzz guitars, organ, mandolin, autoharp, pedal steel, bass, drums and male vocals, overall, they're more of a rock band, with some psych and roots rock touches. All copies in original shrink, although on some that shrink has come apart, shredded, or opened up. The LP saw scant distribution outside of the Houston area, but is now a solid, sought after collector's item.LP $100 SKU:25551

DEERFIELD- LIVE - Original copies 1971 Label:FLAT ROCK Original copies from 1972 of this private press live release. On this live follow-up, Deerfield truly rock out, though still incorporating some of the roots rock flavor they demonstrated on their studio album. Recorded at Love Street Sound And Light Fantastic in 1972, the same year this was released in an edition of 400x copies. These copies are not in shrink — they are EX/EX originals in resealable poly sleeves. FOX- Simple Songs (West coast pop 1972) - Label:GEAR FAB On the heels of the Majic Ship breakup, guitarists Phil Polimeni and Tom Nikosey added the alents of Jim Ayoub to form Fox, the Brooklyn-based acoustic trio whose original melodies and harmonies set the stage for their move West to California in 1972.These recordings have been revived, sounding amazingly fresh and timeless. Half of Fox's tapes were made at the infamous Glenn Holly Studio, owned and operated by Phil Polemini, where may famous musicians would hide away to record, late into the morning hours. CRAWLING WALLS- Inner Limits - Great Pebbles style psych garage LAST COPIES- Label:VOXX LAST COPIES! This one stands side-by-side with the teenage garage anthems of the Pebbles or the Moxie records, which apparently the band had studied very well, alongside with the ? and the Mysterians. CREEPY JOHN THOMAS-ST (1969 psych blues GEM) SAALE! Label:LONGHAIR This is one of Long Hair's favorite psych-blues albums and every track is a forgotten gem of past generation. It starts with hard blues rock tune, 'Gut Runs Great Stone' with great rhythm that just kicks you at the very beginning, making you headbang and simultaneously tap the rhythm with your hand. Next tune is '(Do I Figure) In Your Life,' a chilled psych classic rock tune. Melody is the real thing here but highlight of this song is the guitar solo, it's one of those Hendrix's solo, with so much emotions that after few listening it became one of your favorite solos. 'You've Gotta Hide' is a bluesy tune with solid elements of pure classic rock, chorus is catchy and it's a good fitter on first side of album. 'One Way Track Blues' has an awesome blues riff, lead and acoustic guitar and filled with riffing on electric guitar. 'Trippin' Like A Dog' is another Muddy Waters-stylish blues tune but with psychedelic guitar wailing through whole song. 'Ride A Rainbow' is a psychedelic-trip themed tune, made by hippies for hippies - oriented on peace, unity and love. Thomas' guitar talent is obvious - with his psych-bluesy guitar sound he's painting every song with colors of vivid picture. Next tune, 'Green Eyed Lady,' instantly reminded one on the bass groove on 'The Other Side Of This Life' by Jefferson Airplane. 'Sun And Woman' is a winner with its cheery and catchy guitar. The pumping rhythm of 'Lay It On Me' will really satisfy you and 'Bring Back The Love' will wake the oriental side in you with its bongos and sitar. The album comes with comprehensive insert sheet with bandstory, different covers and photos. Recommended! This is the first official re-release on vinyl under licensed courtesy of Cherry Red Records Ltd, UK, remastered from a master copy. In 1967 Australian John Thomas moved to Düsseldorf, where his girlfriend lived, got a record deal with EMI and recorded one of the era's great lost albums: Rust's 'Come With Me,' (Long Hair LHC281). John meanwhile living in Cologne met up with sound engineer Conny Plank. They recorded with bassist and guitarist Andy 'Shotgun' Marx and drummer Helmut Pohl, who subsequently joined Gomorrha (both albums on CD and vinyl on Long Hair). Originally released at the end of 1969 The Melody Maker was impressed by the album: "Gutsy virile singing and fine guitar from the amazingly-named Mr Thomas supported by bass and drums. set the standards for the garage scene to come playing all
original material in a time when most similar bands relied heavily on covers. They also understood that the clothes are as important as the music. During the short life span the Crimson Shadows released two self produced 45's, and due to demand a few more records were released after the demise. The second 45, 'Even I Tell Lies,' stands as one of the classics of the whole eighties garage wave. 'It's The Crimson F****** Shadows!' is the definite collection of this legendary band containing a slew of horrific hits plus two previously unreleased tracks culled from a 1986 rehearsal tape. Limited to 200 copies on pink vinyl. LP $30 SKU:25721

CROOKED OAK -From Little Acorns Grow (70s folk)-Label:SEELIE COURT Crooked Oak is one of the very few folk bands who imbued their songs with mystery, power and grandeur. The combination of Steve Evans’ sonorous voice and haunting Irish pipes convert the songs into a beautiful mystical experience. It might compare to the stunning ‘Wild and Beautiful’ by Silly Wizard, with that same captivating majesty of form. Very rare, the late great record dealer and collector Walter Geertsen, one of the founding dealers who helped shape the progressive rock market, considered this LP as one of his personal favourites, alongside COB "Moyshe Mc Stiff" and John St Field “Control." Very different LPs, but all with moments of aching, dark melancholia.
