POP MUSIC TEAM - Society Is A Shit (ultra rare Mexican 60s psych Iron Butterfly/Doors style )Label:VAM MEXICO Pop Music Team were among the first psychedelic bands in Mexico, writing original material influenced by Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, and the Doors (they even opened for the Doors at the Forum in Mexico City). This is a reissue of their legendary unreleased album, recorded for Orfeon in April 1969, with killer fuzz guitar and organ, mostly sung in English. This music should be known to all psych music heads, but it isn’t: so what happened? It’s simple. A demo recording of the band’s track ‘Tlatelolco 68’ was broadcast on the radio in 1969. The Mexican government heard the track, and immediately quashed the release of the album; their objection: the song described the brutal repression of the student movement in Mexico (students were slaughtered at La Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City). For a long time, about 36 years to be precise, no one knew that an entire album had been recorded, or where to find the masters. But here it is, psychedelic garage jams with sweet fuzz and farfisa, including ‘Tlatelolco 68’, which turns out to be a 10-minute freaked out long jam. Sure, the cover art looks like a bubble gum packet (there was no original jacket art, since the album was never released), but don't let that or the band name scare you. This is wonderful stuff! CD $8 SKU:15123
RAMONES -OLD WALDORF,SAN FRANCISCO,JANUARY 1978 -Label:ECHOEs On CD, this is an energetic and complete KSAN-FM radio broadcast performance, recorded at The Old Waldorf, San Francisco in January 1978. Comes with remastered sound and background liners. Armed with guitars, drums and with the trademark "1,2,3,4.." assault, the band rip through their 1978 setlist, a near carbon copy of their more familiar NYC performance from the same period which was aired on the King Biscuit Flower Hour. Incidentally, Tommy Ramone would leave the band shortly after these shows to make way for ex-Voidoids drummer Marc Bell (a.k.a. Marky Ramone) and to concentrate on producing. CD $12 SKU:16554
REINHOLD, MOLITOR- REINHOLD 60s PSYCH)-Label:VAM Globe-trotting artist Bodo Molitor may have been born in Germany, but he’ll forever be associated with the psychedelic scene in Mexico and South America. In addition to creating the zoomorphic art for his own bizarre album, “Hits Internacionales,” he also created the psychedelic art for the legendary Kaleidoscope album, for La Libre Expresion, and for his brother Reinhold’s solo album. He had this to say about the Reinhold record: “My Brother Reinhold came for a visit from Germany where he was playing with several bands. He was only 19. I knew Edghar Zamudio (from Peru) and one day he asked us to record that LP. Just acoustic—guitars and a banjo played brilliantly by my brother. I think we recorded the whole album in three or four days. I played some guitars and did some vocals as well. It’s folky and bluesy with originals some covers and traditionals. My brother sings and plays guitar and banjo, on some of the songs he wrote.” The Reinhold album is so rare, even with the connection to his more famous artist brother, no one seems to have discovered it… until now. Despite being from the end of the 1960’s, Reinhold has more of an early-60's NYC Greenwich Village Cafe Wha?-ish folk underpinning. The best tracks have gravel-pated vocals in a vaguely Tom Waits or maybe Joseph Spence sort of vein—really syrupy and quite excellent. Overall, a dark and morose vibe dominates; and we can all use some minor key laments, now and then, right? Limited edition of only 500 copies, CD $10 SKU:19373

RIPPLE - Sons of the Gods (70s R&B /Funk/Soul)-Label:BIG BREAK Ripple were an interracial R&B/Funk/Soul group that came together in Michigan, Illinois in the early 1970’s. With their radio friendly funky sound, which could evoke Kool & The Gang and Stevie Wonder, Ripple first charted in 1973 while signed to GRC Records with the groove classic 'I Don’t Know What It Is, But It Sure Is Funky' which peaked at #11 R&B and #67 Pop and was featured on their eponymous debut album released in the same year. After hitting the upper reaches of the R&B singles chart throughout the middle of the 1970’s Ripple moved from GRC Records to the increasingly influential Salsoul Record label to record and release their second album, 'Sons of the Gods,' 1977. With Salsoul Records behind them Ripple were able to create a set of very strong dance grooves that more than stand up to the releases of many of their contemporaries of the time. The aptly titled ‘The Beat Goes On And On,’ a solid funky groove that continued the groups success on the Billboard R&B singles, was released as a single. Slick Afro/Latin percussion and smooth interplay between the horns, keyboards and guitar parts while lead singer Keith Samuels holds the R&B/Funk/Soul/Jazz/Disco melting pot together with his assured soulful vocals. Expertly re-mastered and complete with extensive liner notes and a bonus track. CD $5 SKU:19198
NEW RIDERS OF THE PURPLE SAGE-Powerglide (ultimate psych country rock w JERRY GARCIA )-Label:LION In the days before genre obsession, a rock and roll fervour drew on a rediscovery of blue grass, folk, blues and ‘country music’. Add to the mix consciousness-expansion afforded by the proliferation of psychedelic drugs, and the music scene of the West Coast of America percolated, powered by this heady brew. At the heart of this experiment in new music and consciousness the New Riders of The Purple Sage were born. The history of the New Riders will forever be intertwined with that of their fellow travelers the Grateful Dead. Both bands shared a down-home vibe, and shared members for recording dates. Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead co-founded the New Riders with John Dawson and David Nelson as an opportunity to play pedal steel guitar—although he plays banjo and dobro on Powerglide, first released in 1972. Dawson and Nelson returned the favor, playing on Dead masterpieces "American Beauty" and "Workingman’s Dead". Phil Lesh and Mickey Hart of the Dead rounded out the New Riders rhythm section until David Torbert took over on bass and Spencer Dryden of Jefferson Airplane fame took over on drums. Grateful Dead drummer Bill Kreutzman plays percussion on this album. To add to all that star power, noted British pianist Nicky Hopkins (Beatles, Kinks, Stones) played keyboards on Powerglide. Dave Torbert's ‘California Day’ is a gem, a hymn to the West Coast with some beautiful slide and fuzz guitar work; ‘Contract,’ is an equally impressive blend of country rock and old west imagery. NRPS's cover of 'Willie and the Hand Jive' has a distinctly Grateful Dead jam vibe to it. This wasn’t music desperate for chart success, it was a soundtrack to an outlaw, countercultural lifestyle that aimed to escape the city and get away to the mountains. So, saddle up! LP $16 SKU:18630

POP MASINA - KISELINA (Yogoslavian Grand Funk style 1973) Label:ATLANTIDE They're comin' to your town to rock your party down. They're a Yugoslavian band. And the name is POP MASINA! They have the Grand Funk running through their veins while cruising down the railroad with a steaming iron horse and there is even more in it that will make your heart pump the blood faster. POP MASINA were one of the most outstanding 70s rock and hard rock acts from former Yugoslavia and knew to combine groovy power songs with ethereal ballads and dreamy psyche tunes to blow your mind. The gentle songs show an unearthly beauty and drag you into spiritual depths you never explored before. When POP MASINA go for more power in their performance they lay down an earth shaking groove upon which the guitars and organs get into a wild dance with each other. And especially the vocals with lyrics in their native tongue prove the pop sensibility of the band with memorable melodies that still dig down deep into your soul to light a fire there. And POP MASINA do not even stop before some wicked and twisted jazzy progressive rock to add even more colors to the already shiny and adventurous music. Fans of bands like LOCOMOTIV GT from Hungary, PHOENIX from Romania and US rock in the vein of SIR LORD BALTIMORE, BLOODROCK and GRAND FUNK RAILROAD will find joy and passion in this band. CD $12 SKU:20870
POP MASINA -NA IZVORU SVETLOSTI (hard rock)Label:ATLANTIDE n the mid-'70s Yugoslavia was a country with a very rich musical landscape, especially in the field of rock and hard rock. Somewhere in between both categories POP MASINA have found their place. 'Na Izvoru Svetlosti' is their second album and again shows the two faces of this legendary band. There are steaming and rough edged hard rock compositions and a live recording of a sleazy, boiling heavy blues that shatters your soul with its rough and crunchy feel despite the really transparent and voluminous sound. Embedded in between those ripping guitar driven beasts you find a few more solemn and gentle pieces that grab your heart instantly with their dreamy and longing harmonies. No matter if these pieces are dressed in lush arrangements of organ and string quartet patterns or float through your soul with a relaxed west coast groove and beautiful slide guitars, your heart will open wide and be filled with love in sheer purity. POP MASINA really go for this diversity to blow your mind with a kaleidoscope of sounds and feelings. Even within some of the heavy scorchers you have mellow sections with a thought provoking, slightly melancholic mood. And this works utterly well with one who loves picturesque rock music that drives visions to ones mind while listening. Fans of Hungarian gods OMEGA, mellow kraut hard rock like JANE, EPITAPH or KIN PING MEH and eastern power pop in the vein of CZESLAW NIEMEN will go nuts for this smoker! CD $12 SKU:20871
POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology ( LATE 70s POWERPOP ) -Label:BOMP he Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. PRIMA DONNA- Nine Lives and Forty Fives - GREAT ROCK AND ROLL Label:ALIVE Born and raised in the San Fernando Valley on a steady diet of punk and glitter rock, Prima Donna are infamous on the LA scene. Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, Glen Matlock & The Philistines, The Dictators, and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs. While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is “Nine Lives and Forty Fives”, a 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in US. The song was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage. CD $5 SKU:16436
PRINCIPAL EDWARDS MAGIC THEATRE- Asmoto Running Band (late 60s John Peel fave) LAST COPIES Label:CHERRY RED he multi-media Principal Edwards Magic Theatre cut a compellingly original swathe through a late-1960s music scene seemingly inhabited by wall-to-wall blues bands. Their first ever gig was witnessed by benefactor and producer John Peel. The legendary DJ promptly signed them to his Dandelion label. ‘I guess he liked what he heard,’ says guitarist and chief songwriter Root Cartwright. A stand-alone single released before the first album, ‘Ballad (Of The Big Girl Now And A Mere Boy)’/ ‘Lament For The Earth’, is included in this package as a bonus track. ‘Soundtrack’ hit the record racks in August 1969, the third Dandelion long-player to be released. The sometimes whimsical, sometimes epic (verging on progressive rock) writing style of guitarist Root Cartwright, was paired with the eclectic lyrical contributions of David Jones, Gillian Hadley and Monica Nettles, and was performed by vocalist Vivienne McAuliffe. The violin and recorders of Bindy Bourquin were another key element of the group's trademark sound. Lyn Edwards, originally on bongos, took over on the drumkit. CD $5 SKU:19084
PROTOTYPE- ST (old school AOR 1983) Label:PACEMAKER A great AOR album, with a Hipginosis cover and a top 30 hit in Video Kids. Prototype was Dan Lowe and Brad Stekel who had been in the 49th Parallel, Painter and 451. "Very good, if you like old school AOR with great keys, you'll love this CD. Doug Riley is a fantastic singer and this is indeed a very fine AOR album. I don't think you'll find better examples of pompy AOR than 'Behind Your Eyes' or 'Live Forever.’ An excellent blend of high class melodic rock with great use of backing vocals and loads of keyboard blasts coming out of everywhere! CD $10 SKU:21225
PSYCHEDELIC MOODS PART 2 - Sunset Love & Inner Sanctum Journey Thru Inner Space)Label:CICADELIC After releasing the “Psychedelic Moods” album, in October of 1966, Mark Barkan envisioned another psychedelic album for his next release. It was to be performed by a Greenwich Village band called “Inner Sanctum”. The theme of the album was to be a psychedelic journey into the various psyches of the mind. The trip started with a journey into the past (The House Of Yesterday) then covered the inner workings of the mind (ID) then the descent into madness (Hydro Pyro) hallucination (Purple Floating) and finally culminating in nirvana (Snow Petals). Unfortunately, Barkan was unable to find a record company willing to lease the masters and so they languished for decades unreleased. Now, at long last the masters for this aborted album are mixed from the original four track tapes and forty plus years later the psychedelic sounds of “Inner Sanctum” are now ready, willing, and able to blow your mind. Sunset Love” was comprised of band members from New Mexico and Texas. In the fall of 1968, thirteen original songs and two covers were recorded for a potential album, but nothing was ever released. “Sunset Love’s” lush harmonies, soaring vocals, superior song writing, and flower power consciousness pervaded their songs with a depth and quality unheard of from most 60s’ bands. While their sound can be compared to such bands as “The Mamas and The Papas”, “The Peanut Butter Conspiracy”, “Spanky and Our Gang”, and “The Love Exchange”, “Sunset Love” had their own inimitable style that transcended a generic stereo-type. Had Sunset Love released their album in the 60’s, there is no doubt it would have been an instant rarity of excellence. The “Sunset Love” tapes are sourced from the original stereo versions and reveal the great harmonies and surrealistic lyrics of an undeservedly overlooked and forgotten band from the late 60’ CD $10 SKU:12399

QUAD - ST (Sun Dial psych Sonic Boom style ) Label:LION "Comparable to the work of close peer Sonic Boom in Spectrum and EAR, Quad stretch out and dive deep over three long tracks... Very different from Sun Dial's fuzz-heavy psych rock, the meditative, ind-altering nature of 'Temple,' Projection,' and the side-long 'Revisitation Mantra' come closer to Ramon's work with astral explorers Coil, while also sounding distinctly ahead of their time." —Shindig! Magazine (latest issue, review of Sulatron LP edition)The material recorded by Sun Dial approximately between 1990-1997 under their alter-ego QUAD has been among the most elusive prizes for fans of psychedelia, as it was issued many moons ago as an extremely limited LP in a clear plastic sleeve. It is an album certainly great enough to deserve such avid pursuit by fans of all sorts of psychedelia—mesmerizing, drugged-out and trippy at all times, with sitar and guitar floating in and out and up and down in the mix over some decidedly funky grooves. If there was ever music for dj’s to sample, and yet also for heads to enjoy at home, this is it! Quad started out as a Gary Ramon solo project, on which he worked with collaborators (including "Other Way Out" engineer Lee Allen) to try to develop a library of recordings devoted to electronic cosmic music. The main inspiration was the work of great electronic artists (who were still quite obscure in those days), such as Silver Apples, Tony Conrad, Terry Riley, Pierre Henry, Roland Kovac and improvisational bands including Amon Duul, Siloah—and of course Kraftwerk, Ash Ra Tempel and German bands on the Cosmic Courier, Ohr and Brain labels. RADIO BIRDMAN - Radios Appear- TRAFALGAR DOUBLE CD Label:TRAFALGAR Deniz Tek moved from Ann Arbor, MI, to Australia and founded Radio Birdman in 1974 with Rob Younger and the rest of The Rats' rhythm section. By the time 'Radios Appear' was recorded in 1977, the group was already legendary with a cult-like following and an ascetic devotion to the fierce 1960s rock'n'roll Tek assimilated as a Michigan resident. Homage to these influences is one aspect of 'Radios Appear'. It boasts a fiery cover of 13th Floor Elevators' 'You're Gonna Miss Me', the lyrics to 'Do the Pop' wax nostalgic for The Stooges and MC5, and 'Radio Birdman' was, of course, taken from a misheard lyric in The Stooges '1970'. However, Radio Birdman's maverick performances and songwriting on this debut elevate them far beyond pure pastiche. Opener 'What Gives?' kicks the record off at an alarmingly fast pace inspired by punks new up-tempo glee, but the trotting bass lines and savage guitar solos that follow reveal a staunch rejection of punks then-hip ineptitude. Hyperactive riffs underpin vocalist Youngers assertive, clear delivery, and Pip Hoyle takes a brilliant keyboard solo. Each instrument is separate in the mix and the production highlights Radio Birdman's technical proficiency honed for years in Sydney's few rock clubs with open doors to the uniformed sect of elitist rockers. Record labels were eager to place Radio Birdman in the new context of late-'70s punk-somewhat, inaccurately considering the band's long hair and technical skill, so WEA picked up 'Radios Appear' for distribution after its initial mail-order release on the Trafalgar imprint. Then, legendary Sire boss Seymour Stein saw Radio Birdman while visiting Australia to sign The Saints, and resolved to re-release 'Radios Appear' internationally with a different track order and particular overdubs. This version is presented here, as heard by so many late-'70s youth before starting bands of their own and citing 'Radios Appear' as an influence in interviews to come. CD $19 SKU:17489

RALLIZES DENUDES, LES -Hadaka No Rallizes) “yodo-go-a-go-go-Label:10th AVENUE FREEZE OUT Legendary Japanese rock outfit Les Rallizes Denudes were formed in 1967 and incredibly for a group that had only one official release (Oz Days Live, a double vinyl compilation release in 1973), played their last gig almost 30 years later in October 1996. The bands name apparently means "f*cked up and naked" which more than adequately describes their music. Formed by band leader Mizutani Takashi, the music remained remarkably familiar over the years, and is best described as high volume, raw lo-fi repetitive feedback-drenched guitar noise fests with nods in the direction of the Velvet Underground and Blues Creation but without the electronics. Radical left wing politics was never far from the bands agenda, with one original band member (Wakabayashi) being involved in the Japanese Red Armys hijacking of a flight to North Korea.. Consequently, the group's live appearances became less frequent and increasingly clandestine. All the bands albums were released in very small quantities and because of the group's reputation for secrecy and violence, as well as the difficulty in tracking down their recordings, Les Rallizes Denudes has assumed almost mythical status. REICHEL & MACHINES, ACHIM - AR 3- (70s Legendary underground freak Label:GERMANOFON If this album wasn't made in Germany and was entirely instrumental, one could easily mistake it as a "psychedelic/space rock" album, because it's made up of mostly kosmiche, spacey jams. It's the occasional vocal chants and keyboards which give it a nice Krautrock flavor. A superb album with no major flaws, indeed an excellent addition to any prog/psych music collection. Especially recommended for fans of spacey and psychedelic music, and essential to Krautrock enthusiasts. Happy listening..." -progarchives.com "For Achim Reichel's 1973 release, and first on his vanity label Zebra, the talented Okko Bekker and noted Krautrock producer Thomas Kuckuck were invited along with many others, with the results being a higher-level mix of echo-guitar excursions, imaginative ensemble playing and kosmische folk-blues. COOL AID BENEFIT ALBUM- 1969 jam w 3 discs(2xCD + DVD)Label:REGENERATOR Originally released on LP in 1970, this amazing album captures both the innocence and the time period of Vancouver's Local music scene in the late 60's. Some of the city's top bands of the day appear on this album including Mock Duck, Papa Bear's Medicine Show, Hydro Electric Streetcar, Route 9, Blacksnake Blues Band and Spring. The original LP has always been a collector's item and the re-issue has been in the works for a while now.
Back in 1969, there was a house in Vancouver that existed solely as a home for Hippies and homeless youth, known to locals simple as "the Cool Aid House." It operated mainly from donations and funding from the government; when that funding stopped, the house was in danger of closing. Top area of bands united (in 1970) and offered their songs for a benefit album—and since the local music scene produced some of the best bands in Canada, the album has long been a much sought-after collector's item. What no one knew was that the original LP was intended as a double-album set: contractual problems forced the Cool Aid House founder, John Walsch, to remove tracks by the great Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck—tracks that are now restored to this package, along with the remainder of what would have been the original second LP. So, the end result is this three-disc package, jam packed with tracks by the city's top bands of the day, including Mock Duck, Papa Bear's Medicine Show, Hydro Electric Streetcar, Route 9, Blacksnake Blues Band and Spring, as first released; it also has unreleased tracks by Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck, Spring, Greydon Moore and Leo Jung, a band called Nancy, Blacksnake Blues Band, Route Nine (listed on the tape box as 'Root' 9), Hydro Electric Streetcar and Mock Duck. Both CDs are taken from the original multi-track studio tapes, and sound incredible. The third disc is a DVD which has footage from the archives of CBC Television: see Cool Aid proprietor Elmore Smalley in historical newsreel footage along with Hippies and other residents of the Cool Aid House; the DVD also features original film footage of Mock Duck, Papa Bears Medicine Show, Mother Tucker's Yellow Duck, and Spring performing on CBC's Let's Go show in 1968-1969, freshly transferred for this project, with remastered audio. MURPHY BLEND - First Loss (70s German psych prog )Label:MISSING VINYL Murphy Blend’s only album is one of the best and rarest early German progressive rock records. Excellent Hammond organ, that delivers a unique heavy psychedelic Krautrock sound. It was originally released on the legendary KUCKUCK label in 1970. This album, is a perfect example of the early 70s German progressive Krautrock scene and should be part of every serious 70s progressive rock collection. English lyrics.” Nobody knows where this group of Berliners came from, nor why they named themselves after a pipe tobacco, but they were responsible for one of the best albums released on Polydor's legendary Kuckuck label. Murphy Blend favored heady psychedelic instrumentals, with heavy guitar and chunky Hammond organs; they were a rarity in early German rock, as singer/organist Wolf-Rüdiger Uhlig utilised his keyboards to incorporate classical themes into the band’s heavy progressive music (he had studied classical music for three years in Berlin); the album contains six proper tracks (mostly written by Uhlig) as well as the shortest German song of all time, the 3/10 of a second long "Happiness"! It's impossible to name highlights, as all material is truly excellent. Sadly, Murphy Blend disbanded soon after recording this album. Uhlig went on to create Hanuman, and guested on Frumpy's third album, "By The Way" in 1972; Andreas Scholz went on to join Blackwater Park. Limited edition, deluxe 180g vinyl, heavy exact replica texture cover. LP $19 SKU:10992

The album features guitar work of Gerald O' Connell who was a big fan of Ash Ra Tempel's guitarist Manuel Gottsching. Formed in 1975 by guitarist JACK LEE, bassist PETER CASE, and drummer PAUL COLLINS, the Nerves are one of the most influential garage/punk pop outfits to come out of the mid-70's LA scene, and certainly one of the least documented... until now. Mostly remembered for their classic "Hanging On The Telephone," a Jack Lee composition which has been covered over the years by a myriad of artists from BLONDIE to L7 to CAT POWER, the Nerves were above all a high energy rock'n'roll band with all three members composing and singing. Playing fast, ear-catching garage pop songs, sometimes wearing matching suits, the trio had more than a bit of the stripped down street energy of the Los Angeles's early punk movement. They shared the stage with the Ramones and Mink Deville during their infamous US "Magical Blistering Tour," played the Punk Palace and the legendary Masque in Hollywood, and headlined shows with the Avengers, the Zeros, The Dils, The Screamers and Shock, to name just a few. After the band's break-up in 1978, Peter Case and Paul Collins formed The BREAKAWAYS, and later went on to front the legendary PLIMSOULS and The BEAT, respectively. Following the success of "Hanging On the Telephone," JACK LEE has mostly focused on his songwriting career, releasing an album in 1981. Both Peter and Paul are still recording and touring. PETER CASE's latest album "Let Us Now Praise Sleepy John" (Yeproc 2007) was nominated for a Grammy. This collection, authorized for the first time ever by the three band members, features their 1976 EP (now regarded as a power pop classic), as well as demos and previously unreleased live recordings, REMASTERED and complete with notes and photos. A last hurrah worthy to the L.A.M.F. legacy." — Alan di Perna (Guitar World, Guitar Aficionado)."These recordings were made in September of ’91, half way between Johnny [Thunders’] death, and Jerry’s own demise. In addition to Greg Allen on guitar and vocals, and bassist Chicago Vin Earnshaw, there are guest appearances by old pals Buddy Bowser on sax, and Walter Lure on guitar. OMNIBUS - ST (70s psych double LP plus 7”)Label:WAH WAH New Jersey's Omnibus formed from the ashes of garage bands from the New Milford area: The Cliffhangers, The Forerunners and The Vandals. Original members came from these three local bands and consisted of Jay Polt, Al Raimondi, Bob Wegrzyn, Bobby Marcinczack and Jerry Garino. They soon hit the local scene and got in touch with brothers Steve and Eric Nathanson who would become their managers and finance their first recordings. A United Artists recording deal was the next step, through wich the band issued their debut 45 "The Man Song" / "It's All In Your Heart" plus their eponymous LP in 1970. Omnibus had an amazing psychedelic sound that took all the right elements from West Coast bands like The Doors or The Jefferson Airplane, Bosstown sound acts like Ultimate Spinach or Chicago hipsters like H.P. Lovecraft to produce their very own Made in Milford, N.J. mixture. Strong, dramatic vocals, tons of fuzz guitar and swirling organs built up their magic sound. Wah Wah proudly offers the first ever reissue of their original 1970 album, plus a whole second LP compiling previously unreleased recordings from rare acetates with earlier recordings of some of the LP tracks and some non released songs. Also added is an extra bonus 7" with the garage killer "The Farm", which would have been an explosive 45 for the band had not been withdrawn from release. A luxury remastered 2LP + bonus 7" set that includes a facsimile of a vintage Omnibus gig poster in a gatefold package respecting the original artwork, plus an 8 page booklet with photos, lyrics and liner notes written by Jay Polt himself and reissue curator Ezra Lesser - all this in a strictly limited edition of only 500 copies, get yours while still available! If you like bands like The Doors, The Children, Ultimate Spinach, The Beacon Street Union, Fever Tree or Clear Light you ought to have this one on your collection LP $45 SKU:21159
OOSTEN, MICHAEL - St (70s hippie psych) HAND SCREENED COVER w 3 bonus tracks.-Label:WAY GONE + LION PRODUCTIONS (USA) Keeping a band together was difficult in the late 1960’s. Tough too, because Michael Oosten was writing songs that veered away from pop-song structures. There was also the relative ease and lack of responsibility required for hauling around a guitar. So, Oosten took off, with a Martin guitar in tow, playing coffeehouses and clubs across the country. By the end of 1973, he was ready to record an LP—five psychedelic folk/rock tracks, ranging from the brightly smiling ‘Sunny Day’ to the epic ‘Hungry Horse Montana,’ where Oost switched seamlessly from Celtic picking to Middle Eastern chord progressions. Oosten filled out his folk/rock/psych sound with the help of a few friends: piano from Tom Hennick on ‘Hey Babe,’ vocals from Jan Reek on ‘Garden,’ and bass from Al Byla on ‘Sunny Day.’ Oosten's wayward vocals puts us in mind of other meandering faves from various eras (Incredible String Band, Perry Leopold, or the Meatpuppets, to name but three), and Oost proves himself a stellar guitarist in an eccentric and percussive mode. Considering the individualistic nature of the album's genesis, no surprise that marketing and publicity for the album was limited. Columbia Records expressed interest in Oosten's music; but after a single meeting with the label, it was clear that the album would be too difficult for the mainstream honchos to market. Oost and friend Lester D'ore (editor of Chicago countercultural paper Seed and designer of the Yippie flag) holed up at D'ore's Wisconsin commune farm to silkscreen each LP jacket by hand. For our deluxe Lion Productions replica edition, they’ve done that again—we've used the original screens for this hand-screened, hand-assembled replica edition. The work of a renegade, ripe for rediscovery.

ORANG-UTAN - ST 1971 hard rock/psych- w insert ,rare pix and liner notes -Label:SOMMOR Included is an insert featuring rare pix and liner notes telling the bizarre story of the band for the first time.
Orang-Utan was a London based band that was actually named Hunter. The line-up featured vocalist Terry "Nobby" Clarke (of psych-pop legends Jason Crest), guitar player Mick Clarke, drummer and songwriter Jeff Seopardi and bass player Paul Roberts. They recorded their sole album in 1971. In a bizarre twist of events, their producers/managers took the tapes to the USA, where they arranged a release on Bell Records under a new band name, Orang-Utan, without telling any of the band members. The album is a lost classic of blazing, early hard-rock with minor psychedelic hangover vibes, a twin-guitar attack, and waves of fuzz/wah, along with powerful vocals. Think Leaf Hound, Budgie, Bang, Sir Lord Baltimore, Hard Stuff... This first ever legit reissue is done in co-operation with the original members. LP $26 SKU:16062

OUT OF FOCUS-Four Letter Monday Afternoon DBL LP Label:MISSING VINYL What do you get if you cross Jethro Tull with Pink Floyd and take away the Blues influence: Out Of Focus!” Lucky for us then that this excellent band from Munich made three extraordinary albums on the super-collectable Kuckuk label before fading away. Hennes Herring on keyboards (mainly Hammond organ), Remi Dreschler on guitars, Moran Neumuller on vocals and wind instruments, and Klaus Spöri and Stefan Wisheu on drums and bass respectively made an incredibly tight unit. Their music was somewhat similar to early British prog, but gradually evolved into a kind of jazz-rock of an XHOL Caravan type. Another view, this time from the invaluable Crack in the Cosmic Egg guide to Krautrock: “It seems amazing that a band were able to start off with a masterpiece and better it with each subsequent album, yet that's what Out Of Focus did! Existing for ten years or so, Out Of Focus were amongst the finest of German rock fusion bands. Formed in late 1968 in Munich, they rapidly established a stylish and refined blend of rock and jazz that also had psychedelic overtones. The early albums exhibited that unique character of Krautrock (akin to Xhol Caravan, Thirsty Moon, etc.), with pure invention in a music that transcends boundaries, taking the rock song beyond its normal format with extended instrumentals, featuring an abundance of solos and surprises. I would argue that Out Of Focus started excellent, and got even better with each album. Probably the finest of all their albums was the monumental double “Four Letter Monday Afternoon” (almost certainly a dedication to Soft Machine and their revolutionary “Third” album). It had mainly instrumental and lengthy tracks; although the first record of the set is a little more down to earth, the unprecedented surprise is the extended suite that encompassed the whole of the second LP. It's a shame that Kuckuck withdrew its interest in Krautrock in the mid-70's, as it left Out Of Focus without the chance of a contract elsewhere. There were plans for a release with the April/Schneeball collective in 1975, in fact an album was recorded, yet all that eventually emerged was one track on a festival LP, by which time they had changed into a more conventional jazz-rock band, featuring only one original member: Remigius Drechsler (who subsequently went on to Embryo). OUTSIDERS- CQ (60s Dutch garage) Intro by Mike Stax (editor of Ugly Things Magazine)- Label:JACKPOT * Deluxe Gatefold heavy duty silver foil jacket
* Color 4 page insert with Ronnie Splinter interview about the making of CQ
* Intro by Mike Stax (editor of Ugly Things Magazine)
* Limited Edition Vinyl Only Release
With The Outsiders still spoken of in hushed tones in even the deepest circles, were thrilled to help shine some light on what might be one of the most underrated bands ever. Originally released in Holland in October 1968, "CQ" (pronounced "Seek You") was the third and final album by Dutch garage punks The Outsiders. These rowdy teenagers from Amsterdam were part of the thriving "Nederbeat" scene with the band taking their cues from British and Stateside garage acts of the day (including singing entirely in English). "CQ" spans R&B, spacey experimental numbers, folk rock and a revved-up kind of punk that pre-dates the angular moodiness of what would become the no wave/post punk sound a decade later. This unpredictable stylistic approach, when coupled with across-the-board amazing songs, make this one of the masterpieces of late 60s psychedelic garage rock, and a cornerstone album of the genre. Pressed in a vinyl-only limited edition, this deluxe reissue is replicated precisely with gorgeous silver foil cover art. Extensive liner notes include a 2009 interview with lead guitarist Ronnie Splinter about the recording of the album and an exclusive introduction by Mike Stax, editor of Ugly Things magazine.
