NEW ARRIVALS
FUNGAL ABYSS - BARDO ABGRUND TEMPLE (Seattle hallucinatory psych jam )
Label:ADANSONIA The debut studio album of Fungal Abyss, the psychedelic improv sister project of Seattle's doom/sludge heavyweights Lesbian. Originally released on cassette in 2011, 'Bardo Abgrund Temple' contains the band's hallucinatory, lengthy, unedited psychedelic jams. The album captures the band's free-flowing improvisations under the influence of the sacred Teónanácatl mushroom, leading to an intensely heavy, lysergic psych trip drenched with screaming, echoing guitars, spiralling synthesizers and crashing drums. Now the album appears on CD for the first time, including one bonus track CD $17 SKU:23137
MEDIA- BRIGHT NEW FUTURE (1978 UK punk style)Label: LOVE CHILD The Media were a Portsmouth band formed in 1978, influenced by the UK punk explosion of 1977. The Media played loads of shows, honed their '60s beat meets '70s street/seminal suburban songs, got a bit good, built a large following, released two singles and by 1980 were featured in a youth TV series called 'Going Out'. What could possibly go wrong? Their debut EP 'No Darling I Love The Media' appeared in 1978 on their own Tearaway Records (Cherry Red Records distributed it). A second single, 'Southcoast City Rockers' and 'Back On The Beach' came out the following year on the Portsmouth collective Brain Booster Records. The single showed the band moving on musically, taking in elements of the UK's emerging ska scene (led by The Specials' Two Tone label) and the Mod revival inspired by The Jam. On the back of the money they were paid for the 'Going Out' TV series, the band went in the studio with the aim of recording songs for an album - 9 songs were completed. But, trouble at one of their support slots led to the cancellation of a series of gigs, including a prominent London show, and the band split in 1981. Fast forward 37 years and the master tapes from that album session were found by a band member in their loft. On the advice of Acid Attack's Dave Clarke the tape is sent to Paul Orwell at Love Child Records, who in turn played it to Adam Cooper of parent company Heavy Soul Records, both of these uber music fans gave it a massive thumbs up. So now 40 years after release of first Media EP the album 'Bright New Future' is now available! CD $18 SKU:23073

JOHN THE REVELATOR- WILD BLUES (70s Dutch blues) Label:PSEUDONYM Back in 1970 the Dutch blues band John The Revelator won the prestigious Loosdrecht Jazz Concours. Record label Decca immediately offered them a recording contract, which resulted in the release of the legendary album 'Wild Blues'. It was recorded at the Phonogram studio with producer Tony Vos, who had a great track record with bands like Cuby + Blizzards, Ekseption and the Oscar Benton Blues Band. At that time John The Revelator had grown into a seven-piece band. They had just two days to record the album and one evening to mix it. Most tracks were done in two or three takes, with a bare minimum of overdubs: just vocals and horns. 'Wild Blues' has since become a highly sought-after collectors item. This deluxe 180-gram audiophile vinyl LP set presents the original album in its entirety, plus two extra songs: the instrumental 'Yeah' and the (in 1971) recorded B-side of a never released single, 'One Track Mind', all dynamically mastered from the original tapes. The gatefold sleeve features restored cover art, along with rare archival photos and liner notes. John the Revelator is still alive and kicking and has been on the road now for 45 years. They play all over Europe and toured Australia. Exclusively restored dynamic 24 bit remastering from the original master tapes - LP high quality 180 gram audiophile pressing - Original restored artwork - Deluxe 350 gram carton gatefold sleeve - Rare photos & liner notes included LP $24 SKU:23209

OZ KNOZZ -Ruff Mix( US 70s private press hard rock/prog)Label:OZONE First legit reissue of one of the best US private press hard rock/progressive rock albums of the 1970s. Formed in 1969 in Houston, TX, Oz Knozz's original crew included multi-instrumentalists Jack Alford, Bill Massey and Duane Massey. Alford left the group in 1971 and was replaced by drummer Marty Naul, while the next year the trio was joined by guitarist Richard Heath. The band had also a three-man horn section, which was dropped quite fast, although horns remained a part of the band's sound, even on their rare and epochal 1975 private press debut ''Ruff Mix,” released on the band’s own Ozone label.“Ruff Mix” mainly grooves in Hard Rock territory—the second track 'Peanut Butter Yoni' sounds a bit like Judas Priest with a proto-Metal feeling; but the album also has elements of Progressive Rock, Horn Rock and Pomp Rock. Like most bands of the era, the idea was to throw out a few different styles to see if something would stick… the theory being that a major label would hear the private album by chance and sign said band so they could open for Led Zeppelin or Foghat's next US tour… or something like that. What separates Oz Knozz from others is a strong compositional component, the band have plenty of original ideas and muster superb instrumentation. The guitar work ranges from hard and powerful to melodic and bluesy and is supported by some great keyboard, including awe-inspiring organ and synth waves. The three-part 15-minute 'Doodley Squat’ suite features heavy dual keyboard parts, crunchy guitars and expressive vocals; the result is a terrific Hard Prog track with lot of energy. For many, the standout track is the groovy and infectious horn rocker, which sounds as dated as the movement itself and easily could have been from 1969. High energy and impressive songwriting LP $24 SKU:21411
PERTH COUNTY CONSPIRACY - (UK-ST( Obscure 70s psych folk)-Label:FLASHBACK Recorded shortly after the release of the debut-LP, the band's obscure 1970 album that was recorded for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation gets reissued for the very first time. The tracks, rooted in psychedelic folkrock, are originals as well as striking cover versions of songs by Bob Dylan, Donovan and Smokey Robinson. The LP is pressed on 180-GRAM VINYL, including a thick gatefold sleeve, a flyer and a 16-page booklet offering a detailed band history and rare photos LP $35 SKU:23210
PYRAMID (GERMANY)- MIND MAZE (BLUE) (Zep/Sabbath style 70s acid rock)-Label:MADE OF STONE Pyramid is a band set to remind us there was a time "when music could make a difference", a time when bands like Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin and King Crimson were at the zenith. That's what Pyramid, the instrumental stoner/krautrockers from Nuremberg, are. The album takes listeners to a 40-minute trip in a world full of acid rock touches and stoner, prog rock or grunge influences, spanning from the '70s to the '90s and today. Among them careful listeners can trace bands like Yes and Pink Floyd, Kyuss and Fu Manchu, as well as Colour Haze and Sungrazer. With 'Mind Maze' Pyramid do accomplish a milestone that bands crave for: to build a solid and interesting debut, which is accessible and "fun" through its psych jams and spacey krautrock grooves, while at the same time provides enough hidden musical gems for those willing to listen carefully. Clear blue vinyl version LP $36 SKU:23071

WEED DEMON CRATER MAKER (stoner rock) GOLD VINYLLabel:ELECTRIC VALLEY Not for the faint of heart, 'Crater Maker' launches with eleven minutes of instrumental stoner rock to set the mood. By the time you get to the devastating vocals of 'Serpent Merchant' you know you're in for a rare treat. Infused with bluesy roots and defined by a search for the perfect tone, 'Crater Maker' is a sonic quest like few others. Their worship of bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard is apparent throughout, but these Columbus, Ohio doomsters are clearly in touch with another side of themselves on this record. An album that rewards multiple listens, it promises to be a worthwhile listen for doom freaks across the globe. Electric Valley Records has once more signed a winner - are you ready to join them on the journey to this riff filled land LP $29 SKU:23208

ALLEN, GREG- Fringe Religion - Elevator Girl/Queen of ARt (Hard Rock NY DOlls/THUNDERS related)Label:STRAIGHT TO THE TOP Greg Allen's Fringe Religion is a Boston-based band that formed in 2013 - but they are hardly beginners when it comes to rock and roll. Singer, guitar player and songwriter Greg Allen and bass player Chicago Vin Earnshaw were in a band with the late great Jerry Nolan (drummer for the New York Dolls, Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers). Allen has released a number of recordings (including those famous last songs with Jerry Nolan) and has done some time with the underground in London and New York. Earnshaw is a veteran East Coast side-man (Luther Johnson Chicago Blues Band, Jack Smith and the Rockabilly Planets, Lazy Lester and Hubert Sumlin to name a few) and an actor who has appeared in stage, TV and film productions. Allen and Earnshaw are joined by guitar player Curt Florczak who rocks hard but with a real sense of melody and finesse and spent his time in the gunk punk underground with LA's B-Movie Rats, and the equally formidable drummer Chris Michaels.Greg Allen might have played with New York Doll/Heartbreaker Jerry Nolan but he's no Johnny Thunders clone. Yes, he's got that guttersnipe, raw guitar tone but he has a unique song writing style that evokes a dystopic world through a cast of twisted characters. The music is rock and roll with a nod to all the greats. The band sounds simultaneously familiar and fresh. Hints of classic arena rock, power pop, sleazy glam, proto punk, gut bucket blues and even some country honk serve as backdrop to Allen's unique story telling. Its pure rock and roll, the kind they don't make anymore. Listen to Greg Allen's Fringe Religion and restore your faith in rock and roll. CD $2 SKU:20625

EDWARDS HAND-RAINSHINE (1971baroque pop post-Picadilly) Label:WOODEN HILL The first-ever issue of 'Rainshine', the semi-mythical third and final LP from post-Picadilly Line outfit Edwards Hand, recorded in early 1971 with legendary producer George Martin at the helm. Despite persistent collector-world rumours of a withdrawn or promo-only pressing on the Regal Zonophone label, the album failed to gain any kind of release - until now, that is. As can finally be heard, 'Rainshine' turns out to be a lost early '70s soft rock/baroque pop classic, with a clutch of wonderful songs ably supported by sumptuous vocal harmonies, sympathetic musicianship and some exquisite baroque pop arrangements from George Martin. Taken from the original master tapes, this long-overdue release features a beautiful 12-page booklet with lots of previously unpublished photos as well as the full story behind the LP. CD $17 SKU:23040

This release offers no less than 24 tracks, plus a 12-page booklet with info and rare pix. CD $17 SKU:23042
NAVINS- NOT YOURSELF TODAY (100% guitar rock !) Label:GREEN MONKEY The Navins are 100% guitar rock dudes from Seattle. They favor vintage amps and vintage guitars. You might say they are somewhat vintage themselves. They have a teensy bit of organ, but sometimes that's just what guitar-band dudes do. T'aint nuthin' weird or freaky here, just one tight band with great songs living at the crossroads of indie, alternative, garage, jangle, twang and power pop, where absurd pop notions tinged with chemical longing meet the psychedelic, late-night creakings of the devil present in our every nature. CD $15 SKU:22822
ONYX (UK) - KALEIDOSCOPE OF COLOURS -DEMOS (1967 psych pop).Label:WOODEN HILL After relocating to the outskirts of London in the summer of 1967, Cornwall band The Onyx went on to record a clutch of late Sixties singles that are now highly regarded by psychedelic pop fans. A collection of studio demos recorded in late 1967 as they prepared to sign to a major label, Kaleidoscope of Colours features early versions of subsequent single tracks (including So Sad Inside and Youve Gotta Be With Me, the latter with songwriter Guy Fletcher on lead vocals), the bands original recording of subsequent She Trinity B-side Climb That Tree and a host of previously unissued day-glo psychedelic pop offerings, including the extraordinary, heavily phased title song. CD comes with 12 page booklet including previously unpublished photos as well as the first-ever telling of the Onyx story. All tracks previously unissued CD $17 SKU:23043

Now all those recordings, dating back to 1980, are available on one killer compilation album. Co-release with Rerun Records (USA) CD $19 SKU:22750
SONIC DAWN- INTO THE LONG NIGHT (STONER PSYCH)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS 'Perception' is the debut album by The Sonic Dawn from Copenhagen. The sound can be described as a mix between a '68 biker movie soundtrack and the signature Scandinavian psychedelic sound. A coherent album full of twangy guitars, dreamy vocals, sitar and groovy rhythms. Several tracks feature the immensely talented organist Erik 'Errka' Petersson of Siena Root and Dean Allen Foyd. Originally released on Nasoni in 2015. Fans of psychedelic rock, neo-psych, freak beat
and classic rock will surely enjoy this record. CD $14 SKU:20052
SONIC DAWN- ECLIPSE (STONER PSYCH)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS The rays of The Sonic Dawn are like a reminder that reality is only temporary. Flickering between light and darkness, their sound burns with an intensity that places the Danish trio among the top psychedelic acts of their time. Following their first two album releases, The Sonic Dawn have toured Europe more or less constantly, only returning home to focus on their biggest work to date: Eclipse. Their third full-length, is the product of a full year's labor, with all 13 tracks carefully selected from among over 40 candidates. Inspired by personal tragedies and the current meltdown of the world as we know it, the songs deal with a feeling of despair that many will recognize, but also seem to say that one can heal and come out stronger, if one dares take the leap. The result is a cinematic journey in sonic technicolor. Here, even the catchiest melody casts a mysterious shadow, and every mind-altering solo is torn out of Emil Bureau's guitar as if it owed him money. CD $14 SKU:23062
SONIC DAWN - ENTER THE MIRAGE(Blazing stoner psych)Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Enter the Mirage is arguably the most blazing and powerful album yet by The Sonic Dawn. It has an unusual live feel for a studio album, ptacking much of the raw energy and electricity that has made The Sonic Dawn's psychedelic concerts famous in the rock underground. CD $14 SKU:23063

SPARKLES -THE COMPLETE RECORDINGS Texas 60s garage (+7"/CD)-Label:JUKEBOX MUSIC FACTORY The Sparkles were associated with the garage-band and psychedelic rock scene of 1960s Texas, as epitomized by their classic underground hit 'No Friend Of Mine'. The line-up changed few times before 1962, and Stanley Smith finally recruit Harold "Lucky" Floyd (drums and vocals), Donnie Roberts (guitar) and Bobby Smith (bass). Their first recording was the single 'U.T.' under the small label Caron. This third incarnation proved a great hit among the clubs of West Texas, notably the Music Box and The Village Swinger. Indeed, in 2000, local legend Joe Ely described them as the "city's best rock'n'roll band" in the history of the Lubbock music scene published by Texas Monthly. Interestingly, The Sparkles boasted a pair of drummers, with one, the flamboyant Harold Floyd, also lending his voice to their performances. 1966 would constitute a turning point for The Sparkles. Larry Parks -drummer for Roy Orbison, turned producer in Nashville, Tennessee- invited them to sign with Hickory Records, the historic music label founded by Roy Acuff and Fred Rose in 1954. The band came up with 'The Hip', which proved an immediate hit in Austin and extremely popular within the fraternity scene at the University of Texas. On a roll, The Sparkles then recorded 'Something You Said' followed by 'Jack And The Beanstalk'. In 1967, The Sparkles, already a decade old, recorded their chef-d'oeuvre 'No Friend Of Mine', with Nunn's raging guitar riffs and Floyd's remarkably tense vocals. This fiery tour de force would be consecrated by its inclusion on the first CD set of the legendary compilation 'Nuggets: Original Artyfacts From The First Psychedelic Era, 1965-1968'. Following their final single, 'Hipsville 29 B.C.', for Hickory Records, The Sparkles once again entered rocky waters, with Nunn and Holt finally deciding to throw in the towel in 1968. Floyd, Smith and Marriot immediately set sail for California, along the way renaming their group The Pearly Gate. This brief interlude would include a handful of appearances on the ABC sitcom 'Judd, For The Defense'. Legend has it, they were also scheduled to perform before Bobby Kennedy the evening of his tragic assassination on June 5th 1968... Returning to Texas, Floyd, Smith and Marriot resurrected The Sparkles, bringing into the fold Steve Weisberg, future guitarist for John Denver. But Floyd's departure in 1975 for California to join Red Wilder Blue spelled the end of this group's 15-year musical odyssey, a tumultuous journey typical of such modest rock'n'roll heroes posthumously crowned by multiple thematic compilations. However, the one you're now holding constitutes the very first anthology dedicated to these incredible Texans LP $28 SKU:21875

YESTERDAY'S CHILDREN-ST VINCENT SWAIN WANTS ONE, NOT PAID (This 1969 underground classic)Label:AKARMA Repress. This 1969 underground classic LP from Connecticut-based band Yesterday's Children is real lost gem. This was the only album they ever made, but oh what a stunning success it was musically, even though it wasn't recognized on a national level. Reggie Wright played a significant role as the lead guitar player. His strengths were more than obvious in each song as he tore his way through each number relentlessly without clutter. The group was led by brothers Denis Croce (guitar) and Richard Croce (vocals). The rhythm section of Chuck Maher (bass) and Ralph Muscatelli (drums) were stand up from start to finish, providing the pumping and thumping force that drove their musical machine. Side one is very good and side two is nothing less than remarkable. The four songs presented are solid and unfailing, featuring the powerful fat chords of Wright. The rest of the band easily falls into line with such resourceful leadership to complete the overall effects of each and every track. Notable as well is the colourful and detailed cover art. This is a fine album that flirts with progressive hard rock continually. LP $22 SKU:21884
