DATURA4- Demon Blues - BLUE VINYL ltd ed of 150 - Fans of Radio Moscow will love this album! “As psyched-out, louder-than-Sabbath blues goes, this record is out there on its own.” – The BLUES Magazine 8/10 review
“Demon Blues” is ‘very 70s rock. There’s also a deftness and pop sensibility in the undertow. It’s a happy marriage of the hard-edged and the hooky. – I-94 BAR 4.5/5 review
Their sound is very much vintage, but for some modern references I can thrown in Swedish acts such as The Nomads and the ace Sewergrooves. If those names mean sh*t to ya, then "Demon Blues" is pretty much satisfaction guaranteed. – VIVE LE ROCK 9/10 LP $15 SKU:16759
JAMES LEG- Below the Belt CLEAR VINYL ltd ed of 150-Label:ALIVE NOTE: The vinyl doesnt have a download card.. We recommend you add the CD for a great price, use the pulldown menu! Some of the filthiest, most driving soul/jazz/blues-powered rock 'n' roll since T-Model Ford's debut. - NO DEPRESSION
Leg howls and growls, as he describes his vocal approach in the liner notes, through the hard luck “Nobody’s Fault” (“I blew all my dough / I ain’t got no place to go”), the haunted, smoky (ha) “Drowning in Fire” and the album’s emotional centerpiece, “Drinking Too Much”, which feels especially torn from Small Change‘s tales of booze, denial and regret: “Go on and pack your bags and leave / You tell me that I’m drinking too much. . . / Don’t you think that I know it myself?” With Leg’s desperate, sozzled delivery, the tune is truly heartbreaking. Long live rock and soul and pianos and devil horns. - POPMATTERS LP $15 SKU:16816

LEFT LANE CRUISER- Dirty Spliff Blue- HAND PRESSED CLEAR w.SMOKE VINYL ltd ed of 200 -Label:ALIVE Gorgeous SMOKE VINYL! Check the image, it’s a clear vinyl with wisps of black smoke running thru the vinyl! Led by founding member Freddy J IV (aka Joe Evans) on vocals and slide guitar, and now joined by Joe Bent on bass and skateboard slide guitar (yes, he uses his skateboard as an instrument) and Pete Dio on drums & assorted other junk, this three-headed hydra, birthed in either Fort Wayne, IN or Hades depending on who you ask, still whips up the same frenzied mess of trashed-out punk/blues that LLC is known for. But on Dirty Spliff Blues there’s a decidedly more rock ‘n’ roll approach to their mean-ass blues. Songs such as “Tangled Up In Bush” or ” Skateboard Blues” still slink like snakes in the grass, but tracks such as the pile-driving opener “Tres Borrachos,” “Cutting Trees,” “She Don’t Care” and “Dirty Spliff Blues” rock with a newfound intensity, and that’s saying a lot for a band long known for both their intense, sweat-soaked live shows and in-the-red recordings. Of course, LLC’s very backbone – the Blues – is also evident throughout, from the hip-shakin’ groove of “Elephant Stomp” to, well, really just about every damn song on the record.Any way you roll it – from the new cover art created by renowned artist William Stout to the THC-laced sh*t-kickers – Dirty Spliff Blues smokes like no other Left Lane Cruiser album before it.Along with their music being featured in the hit television series Breaking Bad and receiving critical acclaim across the globe, Left Lane Cruiser have also toured relentlessly over the years, sharing the stage with artists such as Robert Belfour, T Model Ford, Lee Bains III & The Glory Fires, Bob Log III and many others, and are also regular performers at the Deep Blues Festival now held annually in the cradle of the blues, Clarksdale, MS.LP $16 SKU:17262

STUD- ST ( Texas ‘75 private hard rock rarity ) -Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) - Remastered reissue of Texas band Stud's 1975 self-titled album, a private hard rock ultra-rarity originally released in an edition of 200.
- Formed in 1974 in Houston, Stud featured the killer lead guitar of 17-year-old genius Tim Williams, the brutal Rickenbacker bass attacks of Paul Eakin, and the solid-as-a-rock drumming of George Lasher.
- Includes color insert with lots of previously unseen photos and liner notes by Paul Eakin telling the band's story for the first time.
- "A three-piece progressive hardrock band that play so well together that it allow them to maneuver through long passages with fresh imagination and not become a stereotypical mid-seventies trio. Guitar wizard delivers unceasing solos with a rhythm section poised in the background acting as a two-man metronome. Only a few copies of this album are known to exist." --Scott "Loopden" Bubrig, The Acid Archives
Private hard rock ultra-rarity from Texas exhumed for the first time. With only 200 copies released in 1975, the Stud album has become a holy grail for collectors. A mystery for many years (all the band members used pseudonyms on the album credits), the band seemed impossible to track down... until now. Formed in 1974 in Houston, Stud featured the killer lead guitar of 17-year-old genius Tim Williams, the brutal Rickenbacker bass attacks of Paul Eakin, and the solid-as-a-rock drumming of George Lasher. The chemistry was born when they first starting played together, and after many rehearsals they decided they were ready to record their first album. So they entered the Barons Studios in Rosenberg, and Stud was the result. Powerful hard rock ("A Woman Like You" and "Jim/Blues"), killer boogie-rock ("Captain Boogie"), hard psychedelic jams (the 13 minutes of "Stud"), and progressive hard rock on the impressive "The War Song." File next to Morly Grey and Incredible Hog. Remastered sound. Color insert with lots of previously unseen photos and liner notes by Paul Eakin telling the band's story for the first time. BEATING ON THE BARS-Twisted Tales from the Vinyl Wastelands Volume 2 -Label:TRAILER PARK RECORDS (United States) The Twisted Tales From The Vinyl Wastelands series takes the listener on a dark adventure, a wrong turn into a bizarre, alternate world of American country music performed by small town, unknown hicks. The second volume, Beating On The Bars, collects eighteen ultrarare hillbilly 45s recorded for long-lost independent record labels. The theme this time is incarceration -- the county lock-ups, state pens and prisons. When Johnny Cash released his live at Fulsom Prison and San Quentin LPs to critical acclaim and commercial success, small-town hopefuls rushed into backwoods recording studio across the South to tell their own tales of crime and punishment. Until now, most of these records lay forgotten in the solitary confinement of the bargin bins. The 16-page CD booklet features, liner notes from Country Music legend Bill Carter, track-bytrack comments from Texas rockabilly singer (and serial killer researcher) Mack Stevens, plus an original short story from underground writer Avery Powell, all pulled together with amazing graphic artwork from acclaimed illustrator Olaf Jens."COMP CD $17 SKU:17269
BEAT OF THE EARTH- This Record Is an Artistic Statement (U.S. private press psych ) -Label:RADICH Two foundational documents of American private-press psychedelic rock emerge from decades-long shadows, deeply illuminated chapters authored by prototypical "terminally unique" Southern California artist/seeker Phil Pearlman and two of his early, briefly extant bands. From 1967, Phil Pearlman (The Electronic Hole (RAD 002LP) and the majestic Relatively Clean Rivers (ASH 3007CD)) leads a free assemblage of local Southern California acid-heads through loping Velvetica tribal incantations. The Beat of the Earth earns its name in two side-length jams brimming with eastern-tinged luminosity. It is the sun-dappled mirror of The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray." Instead of the urban decay and black and white pop art of the Warhol scene, The Beat of the Earth represents the same idea, looking west across the Pacific. This comes from the same yet intrinsically polar opposite frame of mind from the VU noise marathons of their epic live shows. Mind-expanding psychedelia done by sun-gobbed hippies that were totally out of step with everything else happening in Southern California of the pop-psych '60s. This record stands as much an outsider statement as ESP-Disk's Cromagnon record (ESPDISK 2001CD/LP), or any of the Swedish bands of the Silence stable. It is a truly zonked masterpiece of tribal hippy culture dosed to the gills! Limited edition of 300.
- Reissue of The Beat of the Earth's 1967 LP This Record Is an Artistic Statement, a truly zonked masterpiece of tribal hippy culture from Southern California artist/seeker Phil Pearlman (The Electronic Hole, Relatively Clean Rivers).- Two side-length jams brimming with eastern-tinged luminosity; the sun-dappled mirror of The Velvet Underground's "Sister Ray" and as much an outsider statement as ESP-Disk's Cromagnon record (ESPDISK 2001CD/LP), or any of the Swedish bands of the Silence stable.- Limited edition of 300. KNIGHT RIDERS -SAN FRANCISCO 1965-THE AUTUMN SESSION -Label:BREAKAWAY Any fan of mid '60s Brit invasion, garage and folk rock should get this! Really!!!An LP of great 1965 recordings from SF legends (by word of mouth) THE KNIGHT RIDERS (who'd later be responsible for an acetate album under the Jungle moniker), combining British invasion energy with west-coast folk-rock harmonies. The band put these nine track to tape for Autumn Records (Beau Brummels, early Grateful Dead, Great Society), but unfortunately the label never took care of a proper release. But now you can get these tunes afterall! On offer are eight superbly infectious group originals and a killer version of Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' that has the same class as The Byrds' 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. LP $24 SKU:17122
LIGHTDREAMS -Islands In Space (70s psych)Label:Got Kinda Lost Records “…we can make [enough] progress inside our heads and the heads of our friends to lay the foundations of an intergalactic life more meaningful than our earthbound condition…” – John Peel, International Times. Mirroring the sentiment of the prescient UK radio legend in his Vibrations column for the International Times in the ‘70s, LightDreams leader Paul Marcano took one further step beyond his intimate colleagues and chose to spread his ideals concerning peaceful outer space colonization to all with open ears. Islands In Space, dotted with acoustic jams, backwards guitars, lyrics alluding to the British progressive era, smoking hot electric leads, synths galore, and the dreamiest of melodies, is both Marcano’s love letter to the work of science-fiction author Gerard K. O’Neill and the psych-tinged folk explorers who came before him such as McDonald & Giles. Originally privately-issued in 1981 in an edition of 1,000 copies, Islands In Space explores space travel and cosmic ideology making for a sci-fi psych odyssey and is filled with atmospheric, lysergic creations atop a hybrid of sounds from the cosmic-psych/progressive-folk/new age spectrum. Home-recorded (yet hi-fi), Islands In Space carries a singular quality, defies easy categorization and has long been savored over by collectors of otherworldly joys. Got Kinda Lost Records is absolutely ecstatic to allow this singular, beatific work another chance to shine from Earth’s surface to the outer reaches of the galaxy. RIYL: Dreamies, Donovan, Pete Fine, Robert Lester Folsom’s hazy, synth-led moments, McDonald & Giles, Ramases, Simones, and the out-of-time bliss of Bobb Trimble, et al. “The album’s free floating dreaminess is grounded in solid songwriting and impressive arrangements, [making Islands In Space] one of the better albums from the era; consistent, talented and transporting in a friendly psychedelic way.” – Patrick “The Lama” Lundborg (The Acid Archives LP $28 SKU:17292
QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE - Live at Fillmore East, Friday, June 7, 1968 2LPLabel:VINYL LOVERS As everyone knows, Quicksilver Messenger Service at their peak in 1968 were one of the greatest live bands the world has ever seen. Rather than some foggy hearsay legend, proof of their prowess is available via a few live recordings fortunately preserved from oblivion. This one is a particularly devastating night at the Fillmore East in June 1968. LP $30 SKU:17268
RELATIVELY CLEAN RIVERS- ST ( 70s West Coast rural rock ) 180 gram 2014 repress SAALE -Label:PHOENIX RECORDS (UK) 2016 repress; LP version. Former Beat Of The Earth leader Phil Pearlman assembled Relatively Clean Rivers in the early '70s and eventually released this excellent rural rock album in 1975. Although Pearlman's first recorded effort was a surf/hot rod 45 entitled Chrome Reversed Rails which appeared on the Fink label in the mid-'60s, it was with Beat Of The Earth that he began to forge a distinctive musical voice. The band was one of the earliest-known experimental bands with a sound reminiscent of their East Coast counterparts, The Velvet Underground, whose influence is often discernible on Relatively Clean Rivers. That said, RCR is recognized by those fortunate enough to have heard it as one of the very finest albums of the era, with a clearly-defined American sound akin to The Grateful Dead in all their American Beauty pomp or CSNY circa Déjà Vu. An album highly recommended to anyone even remotely interested in '70s West Coast music or simply great music in general. Finally available on 180 gram vinyl once again, and comprehensively remastered using the latest 48-bit technology.
180 gram vinyl LP reissue of this all-time U.S. underground classic, originally released in 1976.
- Formed by Phil Pearlman, who led seminal experimental band Beat Of The Earth.
- "All California sunsets and country living clean, you can feel the wind in this album, in the melodies and in the guitar lines. This is Grateful Dead-esque music for people who hate the Grateful Dead (and also those who love 'em)." --Other Music LP $25 SKU:7931
ROGERS , KENNY - & THE FIRST EDITION "LIVE VEGAS '72-Label:MAPLEWOOD The New Christy Minstrels helped launch the careers of such notables as Gene Clark (The Byrds) and Kim Carnes; it also helped launch the careers of Kenny Rogers and Mike Settle. After a short stint with the Minstrels, Rogers and fellow members Mike Settle, Terry Williams, and Thelma Camacho left the group. They formed The First Edition in 1967 (later renamed "Kenny Rogers and The First Edition"). Yes, that Kenny Rogers. The Gambler. But before he was the Gambler, Kenny was a long hair with an earring and pink sunglasses.Presented here, by Maplewood Records, for the first time ever is a live album that was recorded over three nights at the Las Vegas Hilton in 1972. The lineup for the First Edition during this recording included newcomers Gene Lorenzo on Hammond organ and Jimmy Hassell on guitar/backing vocals replacing the departed Mike Settle. The record was produced by Jim Callon, founding member of the Glass Family, in the year after the concert recordings. It was cut from several nights and meant to showcase the band’s live acumen, which was a tight hard rocking machine. It delivers. Long buried in Jim’s garage, you will hear hot versions of such notable numbers as 'King of Rock n’ Roll,' 'Tell It All', 'Take This Hammer', and the band's biggest hit 'Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In).' When listening to this record, it’s easy to imagine yourself in a smoky nightclub in the Las Vegas Hilton, don’t you think? Maybe having a cocktail with your old lady or old man after an afternoon of hitting the tables? Give it a listen and see where it takes you. Limited to 500 copies.

UTHER PENDRAGON-San Francisco Earthquake 3LP -previouslysame house for many years and rehearsing seven days a week, building their own recording studio and music corporation, being managed by Craig Pedersen (Something Wild, Tripsichord Music Box), being involved in an occult-themed rock opera called Sabbat, and much more, is told with all the details by Mike Stax from Ugly Things in this set's extensive liner notes, with rare photos. Produced from the band's vast archive of original master tapes, San Francisco Earthquake includes their unknown-until-now 7" acetate from 1967 (fab garage-psych in the vein of The Human Expression or The Music Machine); tracks from 1966-'69 including a groundbreaking, moody psycher from 1966; a demo tape from 1969 recorded at Pacific Recording -- an incredible document for any lover of early SF garage-psych (think Oxford Circle, The Savage Resurrection, Moby Grape . . .) -- and many tracks recorded at their home studio in Palo Alto. 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven. HIGHLIGHTS
- A treasure trove of previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia from 1966-1975 by lost San Francisco band Uther Pendragon.
- 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven.
- Sourced from the original master tapes.
- Includes detailed liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things) and rare photos.
- Three-LP box version housed in purple-and-gold hot-foil-stamped box with eight-page insert and poster.
- "Although they recorded extensively, Uther Pendragon did not release any records in their original lifetime, a situation that has now been rectified in grand style with this sprawling three-disc collection." --Mike Stax (Ugly Things)"Really cutting edge music from where teen garage became early raw psych. You can hear the early SF anarchy in the music, much like Oxford Circle. Impressive!" --Patrick LundborgLP $59 SKU:17267
WHITE LIGHT - Parable (scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych ‘74)-Label:SOMMER Super scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych hard-rock beast, packed to the gills with cheesy organ, jubilant fuzz guitar, and frenzied drumming”. – Ken Scott (The Archivist First ever reissue of this ultra-obscure private pressing (as featured in the last Hans Pokora’s “7001 Record Collector Dreams” book with the maximum scale rarity). Done under license from the band members. Insert with liner notes and photos.Formed in Glasgow in the early 70s, White Light were not an ordinary Xian rock band: influenced by the explosive sound of The Who, the hard blues of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and even Black Sabbath, their live performances across the country featured heavy rock sounds, feedback howling round, phased lighting effects and commitment to the real enjoyment of Rock Music. They weren’t formed to play in churches – but to take The Message to the rock generation in loud clubs, halls and big rock venues. In 1972, they were finalists in a national rock competition organized by Melody Maker magazine. This event encouraged the band to enter the studio for the recording of their first album. “Parable” was released as a private pressing in 1974. Housed in a mysterious looking cover, the music is Xian hard psych straight from the garage with lot of raw fuzz guitar and Vox Continental organ.Combining hard-rock with heavy blues and dreamy moments, it features the monster sidelong track “Prodigal”, which has to be heard to be believed. LP $28 SKU:17291
ZIPPER - ST (73 Zep Sabbath style)-Label:PERMANENT RECORDS U.S. Official 40th Anniversary Reissue "File under awesome. 1973 no-frills, no bullshit, cock rock. This is Zipper—Fred Cole and company’s sicko American twist on Zeppelin and Black Sabbath." - Aquarium Drunkard. For our 50th label release, Permanent Records could not be MORE EXCITED to announce the 40th Anniversary reissue of Zipper's self-titled LP from 1975! You all know Fred Cole from Dead Moon. And yes, Pierced Arrows too! But preceding both of his more "famous" bands (and others like The Rats, etc, etc) was Zipper! Formed when Fred and Toody Cole returned to Portland, Oregon after homesteading in Alaska, Zipper was the beginning of both Whizeagle Records, their in-house label, and Fred's long illustrious DIY career. Equal parts acid fried psych, raw blistering guitar fireworks, proto-punk pummel and bone crunchin' heavy rock machismo, Zipper was Fred's headfirst dive back into the rock world after his disillusionment with the "garage scene" post Weeds / Lollipop Shoppe. No managers to tell him what songs to play or what "sound" was in. No label to fight with. Just Fred Cole and a close knit group of fellow disenchanted rock n rollers (Lorry Erk, Jim Roos and Greg Shadoan), playing their in-the-red whiskey and cigarette fueled music as loud and furious as can be! So for those into scorching Acid Archives psych rock, Zipper is yer next fix! And for those those Fred and Toody Cole completists, this reissue is ESSENTIAL, as originals go for as much as $250!!!! For everyone else, if you like yer rock n roll, RAW, MEAN AND UNHINGED, just like it should be, YEAH YOU NEED THIS ZIPPER LP TOO! "Fred Cole’s mid-70s album is as uncompromising as anything he’s done. His vocal style is especially strident on these hard rock songs, which don’t have the garage-style feel of Dead Moon or the occasional subtleties of Lollipop Shoppe. The first song is a bunch of raunchy double-entendres. Pretty twisted…This LP is worth hearing. It’s unique and wild. And the cover is handmade to the extreme." —Acid Archives. LP $24SKU:17126

MILLENIUM - Pieces- Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans!- Label:VOICEPRINT (England) By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band’s “Begin” album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by the label. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP. Yet the Millennium's breakup did not eliminate all interest in the group. Somewhere along the line, enough "people in the know" purchased or were handed copies of their album, and soon a small but devoted cult began to form around the record. For whatever reason, a good amount of unrealized Millennium material languished in the vaults. It is an incredible revelation to finally hear these missing puzzle pieces which reveal a band of enormous depth and songwriting talent. After listening to these unreleased demos, the divine results of the cosmically profound collaborative effort known as the Millennium become even more apparent. Unlike most of the concurrent L.A. super-groups (e.g. Rhinoceros), the members of the Millennium actually gelled musically. The various band members engaged in a variety of writing partnerships that resulted in some of the most beautiful (if under-appreciated) music of their era. Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! CD $10 SKU:12228

PANDORAS, THE - It's About Time ( Psych fuzz goddesses- TEMP OUT OF STOCK Label:VOXX Psychedelic fuzz goddesses The Pandoras were the first, and in many ways the most original, of L.A.'s garage revival bands. They transformed the traditional garage sound of their "Pebbles" favorites into a vehicle for an all-girl band in wild day-glo fashions, openly sexual, assertive and outrageous in a time when girl bands were expected to be more like the demure Bangles. PETERS , DUANE GUNFIGHT- Gunfight digipack (Great OC skatepunk ) sAALE -Label:DISASTER Records The original skate punk rock and roll madman, Duane Peters, presents his new brand of old school punk rock, the Gunfight. In addition to US Bombs and The Hunns/Die Hunns, you've got this here outfit dealing in crusty Social D style punk. Peters has melodic So Cal guitar punk in his DNA so this here outfit features roots based guitars from the 1982 mould, think Shattered Faith, TSOL, and ol' Mike Ness hisself. This band straddles the rock-punk of early Clash with the country-blues punk of the greaser Hootenanny scene. If you've heard some of Peters other stuff, this ranks with the best of it, and while no diss on his other works, this might be his best to date. Pay attention to "Yer Too Sensitive" and "Blow My Brains," you'll find yourself with a mohawk standing outside the Cathay de Grande. This is a tight record of classic punk with standout guitars and some tough vocals that don't have to prove their tough through screaming, it's the real deal. - Sid Arthur 7/11 Culture Bunker CD $5 SKU:13134
PIG RIDER -The Robinson Scratch Theory DBL CD Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS Bedroom/lo-fi psychedelia by unsung heroes of the '80s DIY cassette culture scene. Double CD edition includes four bonus tracks that are also available as a free download via Bandcamp. From outsider synth-pop to Barrett-esque lysergic folk; from lo-fi garage-punk to basement prog: acid-fuzz guitars, cheap keyboards, primitive electronics, homemade vibes, and bizarre, funny lyrics. Pig Rider were formed in Kent, UK, in the late '60s by John Mayes and Colin Kitchener. With the help from some friends they recorded and self-released a series of acetate-only psych-folk albums in the mid-'70s (Heterophonies, Bloody Turkey Sandwiches...), which are prime examples of early DIY psychedelic music, highly sought-after since a review of Heterophonies appeared in Richard Morton Jack's Galactic Ramble book. In 2013, collector Alexandre Mansuy (from the influential Somewhere There Is Music blog) found Mayes and Kitchener and was astonished when they told him their story: Heterophonies was only one of their many, many great recordings, 22 in all, including 45s, acetates, and tapes. Thanks to Mansuy, Guerssen is launching a comprehensive Pig Rider reissue campaign, starting with The Robinson Scratch Theory. The compilation includes tracks originally recorded between 1980 and 1986 and released as private cassettes. Pig Rider's sound brings to mind obscure DIY bands like The Desperate Bicycles, Instant Automatons, or Beyond the Implode -- if those bands knew how to write catchy and well-crafted songs. But the most amazing thing is that Pig Rider were creating this kind of music for their own amusement without any knowledge of the post-punk or DIY movement. Although they were listening to bands like the Bonzos, Pink Floyd, and The Misunderstood -- "I played their 'Children of the Sun' 45 until the groove was worn out!" says Kitchener -- Pig Rider claim that the main influence on what they played was the availability of instruments and what they could do with them -- not always what they were designed for -- and always pushing their limits. The Robinson Scratch Theory is presented in master tape sound with an insert/booklet containing detailed liner notes and photos. TThe compilation is released in advance of first-ever reissues of two of Pig Rider's ultra-rare '70s acetates, Bloody Turkey Sandwiches (1974) and Heterophonies (1975). Welcome to the twisted world of one of the truly pioneering DIY psychedelic pop bands. CD $22 SKU:16790

PINK FAIRIES- Do It WAREHOUSE FIND- Label:Total Energy ONE COPY ONLY . Place any of the first tracks from this compilation next to anything of the White Panther MC5's Kick Out the Jams and you find the material uniquely mated for message and visceral rock energy. This compendium of live recordings from 1969-1971 includes two versions of "Do It!," covered by Henry Rollins on his first solo album. While these '60s superstars played as part of huge, outdoor festivals, the Pink Fairies denied all pretense and jammed outside, entertaining for free. Twink (ex-Pretty Things), drummer and vocalist for this most idealistic of the era's hard rock acts, wrote liner notes for this album chronicling the hippie philosophy of this time period and its decline on many levels. PIP PROUD - A FRAYING SPACE w 3 bonus tracks, lyrics, 20 page booklet -Label:EM RECORDS (JAPAN) AN Australian outsider, with his untutored and uninhibited singing style, his primal guitar playing, his resolutely personal vision captured on recordings from 1967 to the early '70s -- except that, unlike most outsiders, he was loved and accepted, with two of his three album releases on a major label, with frequent television appearances and coverage in music magazines. Heralded in his native land though he was, he maintained a low profile from the early '70s, never made an impact overseas, and his recordings have been difficult to access. This collection has been selected by Proud's biographer David Nichols and will engender a new appreciation of Proud's music. Considered by some as a sort of Antipodean Syd Barrett, listeners will hear that Pip was clearing his own private and primal path, more poet than pop star, despite the media attention. Other than one Velvets-style band track, all songs here feature Pip solo, some with appealingly primitive overdubs. Fans of ramshackle, oddball, weirdo portastudio, lo-fi bedroom pop of the '80s, '90s and beyond, whether of the NZ, UK or U.S. varieties, will find a precursor here. CD includes with three bonus tracks and features a 20-page booklet with liner notes by David Nichols as well as Proud's lyrics. CD $19 SKU:16095

PLEASURE SEEKERS- What a Way To Die w the Quatro Sisters (60s ) - Label:CRADLE ROCKS Digitally remastered with many never before released recordings! the original 60’s all girl rock and rollers who started a revolution. The Pleasure Seekers lived, played, partied, and rocked the music scene in the Renaissance era of the 60’s, when female musicians were looked upon as “novelty acts”. The Pleasure Seekers and the music they played gained the attention and respect of Detroit “male rockers”, as well as the legends of the era. In just under five years, the Pleasure Seekers toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East, as a headliner, as well as being support for acts like the Yardbirds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Procol Harem, Badfinger, MC5, Bob Seger, Iggy Stooge, and many others. The historic recordings (many previously unreleased by the Quatro sisters) capture the beginning of their rock-n-roll revolution. The Pleasure Seekers were a forerunner, changing the myth of female musicians. Rockin it raw, with edge and attitude, they took over the garage, and unleashed their “Detroit Rock City” music on an unsuspecting world, starting a revolution for women to rock their music hard. To this day, these multi talented sisters are known as the teenagers who dared to go where women had not gone before, against all odds, stomping their way into a male-dominated heavy rock scene.

PLIMSOULS- Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal w 4 bonus tracks- Label:ALIVE Live! Beg, Borrow & Steal" showcases the PLIMSOULS at the height of their power, tearing the roof off and on the verge of starting a riot on L.A.'s old Sunset Strip. Recorded at the Whisky A Go Go on October 31, 1981, this previously unreleased 18 song live album includes many of The Plimsouls' classics as well as plenty of surprises. It has been stunningly remastered, features previously unpublished and gorgeous photos by renowned photographer Bob Matheu, and also includes three pummelling tracks with special guests The Fleshtones (CD only).
The first vinyl pressing of the record includes a poster and is limited to 1,000 copies. Considering that all of The Plimsouls official studio releases are currently out of print, this explosive live document of the band igniting The Whisky nearly three decades ago stands as not only a highly anticipated release from the band, but also as a testament to the power of pure, unadulterated rock & roll.Formed in 1978 by Peter Case (vocals, guitar) following his departure from The Nerves and The Breakaways, with Louie Ramirez (drums), Dave Pahoa (bass) and Eddie Muñoz (guitar), The Plimsouls effectively blended roots, British Invasion and garage rock into one unique soul-punk, garage-pop combo. "They boasted a soulful front man and gifted songwriter in Peter Case; a brittle, unconventional lead guitarist in Eddie Muñoz; and a gutsy, power-packed rhythm section in bassist Dave Pahoa and drummer Lou Ramirez. The ‘Souls didn’t just replicate the cliches of power pop, as so many others did – they, and especially Case, were intent on putting their own imprint on the rock and R&B styles they derived their sound from. Their keen originality and their ‘let’s-rock’ attitude removed them from the run of the mill. Despite the misguided notions of observers intent upon categorization, The Plimsouls were always their own men." — Chris Morris SEE SITE FOR TRACK LISTINGS . CD $10 SKU:11185

POP MUSIC TEAM - Society Is A Shit ( ultra rare Mexican 60s psych ) Paper mini slv replica - Label:VAM MEXICO Pop Music Team were among the first psychedelic bands in Mexico, writing original material influenced by Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, and the Doors (they even opened for the Doors at the Forum in Mexico City). This is a reissue of their legendary unreleased album, recorded for Orfeon in April 1969, with killer fuzz guitar and organ, mostly sung in English. This music should be known to all psych music heads, but it isn’t: so what happened? It’s simple. A demo recording of the band’s track ‘Tlatelolco 68’ was broadcast on the radio in 1969. The Mexican government heard the track, and immediately quashed the release of the album; their objection: the song described the brutal repression of the student movement in Mexico (students were slaughtered at La Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City). For a long time, about 36 years to be precise, no one knew that an entire album had been recorded, or where to find the masters. But here it is, psychedelic garage jams with sweet fuzz and farfisa, including ‘Tlatelolco 68’, which turns out to be a 10-minute freaked out long jam. Sure, the cover art looks like a bubble gum packet (there was no original jacket art, since the album was never released), but don't let that or the band name scare you. This is wonderful stuff! CD $12 SKU:15123
POPPEES -Pop Goes The Anthology ( POWERPOP ) -Label:BOMP (available only thru Bomp until April 25th ) The Poppees were one of the creators and the embodiment of what soon came to be known as the "Power Pop" sound of the late 70s. This long overdue anthology finally gives this notable and highly underrated band its due, elegantly chronicling the Poppees short but influential role in the history of the New York New Wave scene of the late 70's. While anchored around their two classic Bomp singles, "If She Cries/Love of The Loved" (the latter track produced by Craig Leon of the Ramones fame), and "Jealousy/She's Got It" (produced by Cyril Jordan of the Flamin' Groovies), "Pop Goes The Anthology" features never before released recordings, including demos, early live recordings, and culminating with a rip-roaring live performance at CBGB. It is complete with liner notes and unpublished photos. "After all, what would be more punk at that time than being in the Poppees - a band that emulated the early Beatles, from their moptops to their Cuban heels?" - WFMUFormed in In the mid-'70s in New York by Bob Waxman, Arthur Alexander, Paddy Lorenzo, and Donny Jackrel, later replaced by Jet Harris. CAN YOU DIG IT - DBL CD The Music and Politics Of Black Action Films 1968-75 - Label:SOUL JAZZ RECORDS (UK) Subtitled: The Music and Politics Of Black Action Films 1968-75. "Can You Dig It? charts the rise and fall of 'Black Action Films' from 1968-75. As well as featuring a double-CD collection of the stunning music from these films, Can You Dig It? comes with a 100-page booklet, mini-film poster cards and stickers. The Black Action Films of the early 1970s gave Hollywood its first African-American cinema -- actors, directors, cameramen, editors and writers. These films discussed aspects of the African-American experience in the form of entertainment. Storylines interwove post-civil rights revolution with action stories, many involving pimps, prostitutes, drug dealers or private detectives. The films also featured the finest funk and soul black music of the time as stars such as James Brown, Curtis Mayfield, Willie Hutch and Roy Ayers produced some of their finest work, with film budgets allowing for the addition of huge orchestral arrangements by jazz legends such as Quincy Jones, Johnny Pate and JJ Johnson. In the early 1970s, Black Action Films exploded into the cinema with three extremely successful films -- 'Shaft', 'Super Fly' and 'Sweet Sweetback's Badasssss Song.' The most profound statement of these films was their actual existence -- black actors and black directors entering the previously closed Hollywood film industry. Black Action Films were a representation of politically everything that had gone before and stylistically of everything that was current. Civil rights, Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, Black Power, Black Panthers, Vietnam sit alongside the criminal worlds of policemen, private investigators, bail bondsmen and the criminals, drug dealers, pimps and hustlers that they parole. Black American culture is reflected in the scorching soundtracks, some seriously funky clothes and the language of the street. Rarely does ten minutes pass when someone will expound 'Right on!', 'Can you dig it?,' 'Stay loose' or the eponymous 'Is it Black enough for you?'. The term 'Blaxploitation', was created by a writer for Vogue magazine, a confused word implying exploitation of African-Americans. 'Exploitation of black', or 'black exploitation films'? Black characters in these films are nearly always strong, the bad guys are usually white bad guys, and the resolution of the narrative in most of the films is nearly always morally correct (although sometimes complex) and as Gordon Parks noted at the time, 'it is ridiculous to imply that blacks don't know the difference between truth and fantasy and therefore will be influenced in an unhealthy way'. In 1973, the first black female lead roles were created. Pam Grier starred in Coffy and the follow up Foxy Brown, and Tamara Dobson in Cleopatra Jones, all three films featuring incredibly strong female lead characters created specifically for these two black American actresses. For the next few years, Black Action Film mutated across genres, weaving its way through black cinema versions of horror (Blacula), martial arts (Black Belt Jones), westerns (Soul of Nigger Charley) and any permutation thereof. Can You Dig It? presents the best of the killer musical soundtracks to these films alongside analysis of the social and political conditions that helped create the films. The booklet also comes with an in-depth guide to the films including many film stills. Also included is a set of mini- film poster cards and stickers." COMP CD $24 SKU:10979

DAWN OF PSYCHEDELIA - VA Early psych inlfluences -DBL CD - Label:CHERRY RED "'Piper At the Gates of Dawn,' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band,' 'Electric Music for the Mind and Body,' 'The United States of America,' 'Forever Changes,' 'A Child's Guide to Good and Evil,' 'We're Only In It For The Money': just some of the conceptual masterpieces of the psychedelic era. But these monuments didn't suddenly materialise. What of the earlier musical influences that inspired them, what of the art that cleared a path for psychedelia? The Dawn of Psychedelia charts the course of the artistic momentum that had been gathering internationally for decades. Edgard Varèse, the "Father of Electronic Music", the "Matinee Idol of Modernism" and musical guru of Frank Zappa; Aldous Huxley's 'holiday from reality', yearning (as Timothy Leary would) to attain the cosmic conciousness of unity, light and love; the Alice B Toklas Cook Book Recipe for Hashish Fudge; the mysteries of Indian classical music and its introduction in the west (Ravi Shankar, Vilayat Khan, Ali Akbar Khan and his brilliant disciple, Sharan Rani); Sun Ra and the jazz hybrids created by Ken Nordine, Yusef Lateef, Herbie Mann and Gabor Szabo as each sought to break the boundaries of convention; the bewitching, other-worldly music of Sanctus from the Missa Luba, a version of the Latin Mass based on traditional Congolese songs, which establishes the magical atmosphere of Lindsay Anderson's "If...", a film that is a microcosm of the revolutionary 1960s and one of the most important films in cinema history. The culmination of these pure, unadulterated divergent strands created the environment in which psychedelia would so memorably flower. COMP CD $12 SKU:16374

DANGEROUS RHYTHM- ST( 1978 Mexican punk ) Label:BEAT GENERATION (Spain) This first vinyl reissue is pressed on 180-gram vinyl and features replica cover art and insert plus a new article written by Piro. Edition of 500.
Dangerous Rhythm formed in Mexico in August 1978 and can claim to be one of the first punk bands in the country. Piro, the band's vocalist, immersed himself in the whole Los Angeles scene, and was in contact with the Chicano side of the city through Tito Larriva from The Plugz and other bands from the area like Circle Jerks, Fear, and Black Flag. The impact of punk classics like the Sex Pistols, The Clash, or the Ramones obviously had an influence on the sound of the group. Dangerous Rhythm never forgot their family tree, absorbing large doses of unconventional rock like the New York Dolls, The Stooges, and Lou Reed. All these elements helped the band forge their own style and sound, starting with songs sung mostly in English and vibrant, direct melodies. After laying the foundations of the non-existent punk scene and recording their debut, Electroshock, they released their first eponymous LP in 1981. It was released by Hip 70, a label run by Armando Blanco, who owned the club of the same name, which was the focal point of the Mexican scene in the '80s. Key figures of '70s counterculture like Ricardo Ochoa (Peace and Love, Nahuatl) and veterans like Max Reese (sound engineer for Tom Petty) collaborated on the recording, which was then mastered by Wally Traugott, who worked on the live album The Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl (1977). The end result was mind-blowing and shows a band with nerve that played new wave with a punk rhythm. LP $24 SKU:17205
ELECTRONIC HOLE - Ltd ed of 300 Label:RADICH Two foundational documents of American private-press psychedelic rock emerge from decades-long shadows, deeply illuminated chapters authored by prototypical "terminally unique" Southern California artist/seeker Phil Pearlman and two of his early, briefly extant bands. This record stands as much an outsider statement as ESP-Disk's Cromagnon record ( or any of the Swedish bands of the Silence stable. It is a truly zonked masterpiece of tribal hippy culture dosed to the gills! Limited edition of 300. LP $25 SKU:17093

SABATTIS - Warning In The Sky (68 heavy psych)-Label:OUT-SIDER Housed in a new cover design,Remastered from the original tapes, Including an insert with rare photos and liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It s Psychedelic Baby). Sabattis were an underground hard-rock band from New York formed in 1968 by Jim Marvin (guitar & lead vocals), Gary Culotta (keyboard and vocals), Larry Wegman (drums) and Rocky Kaler (bass). Influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Mountain and Grand Funk, they gigged around town playing lot of psychedelic clubs and venues.
