NEW ARRIVALS
BULENT ORTAÇGIL-B-enimle Oynar Misin (1974 Turkish folk) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA South Korean pressing. Bulent Ortacgil's absolutely phenomenal 1974 debut Benimle Oynar Misin is considered a landmark album in his native Turkey, but after three decades the singer-songwriter remains virtually unknown in the United States. The songs are written and arranged simply and tastefully, with Bulent’s gravelly voice and gorgeous finger-picked guitar in the forefront of most tracks, fronting spare, introspective folk rock arrangements that feauture piano, trumpet, saxophone, and strings. The mood is melancholic, but with a strong underlying sense of hope and joy. Even though we don't understand a word of Turkish, this is one of the most engrossing records we've heard in ages. An album that promises to stick with you for a long, long time CD $10 SKU:20392
COOPER,JOHN & PHILIPPA,-The Cooperville Times (1969 Spooky psych folk)-Label:FRESH Spooky psychedelic folk rock (1969) featuring the unmistakable guitar sounds of Julian Laxton (Freedom’s Children). Unquestionably one of the rarest South African albums ever: folk tinged psychedelia, featuring the whimsical vocals of John & Philipa Cooper with guitar by Julian Laxton, which has been hailed by collectors worldwide as comparable to the legendary Mellow Candle or early Jefferson Airplane. Brother/sister John & Philipa Cooper went to Britain shortly after the album was made, and there the story ends. Even so, this amazing album is considered in the same class as those by Billy Nichols, Duncan Browne and Blossom Toes. Well composed underground songs, folk rock, effects—an album full of ideas and masterfully played... it just has the right feel, with the combination of great songs and a '60s art-vibe. The perfect underground folk-rock album CD $10 SKU:20401
COSA NOSTRA - ST (1971 rare Latin psych funk) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA Heavy duty rare Latin funk psych album recorded in Mexico City in 1971, their English language debut (not to be confused with their Spanish-language second album, reissued by Lazarus on LP); heavy grooves right from the start, with hard guitar, bass, drums and organ kicking it and not letting up; sounds a little like the Black Sugar albums, if you can imagine U-Roy “singing” along with the rhythm tracks, and some strangely dissonant background singers chiming in to boot; but all vocal limitations aside, has some great cuts, such as the eponymous track ‘Cosa Nostra’, the funky ‘Squeeze it Tight’ with a real pushy groove, the rife-for-sample intro to ‘Proud Mary’, and the shimmering ‘Change of Mind’ CD $10 SKU:20394
EL RELOJ- ST (1971 pioneers of Argentine Heavy Metal! -Label:BMG EL Reloj is a band of Argentine Hard Rock formed in 1971 in Lomas del Mirador. It is considered one of the first hard rock groups in Latin America , in the seventies and also pioneers of the Argentine Heavy Metal CD $15 SKU:20378
IMPECCABLE--Live on the Rox(Rare Texas private press 1979 Label:ROCKADROME Long anticipated reissue of rare Texas hard rock private press record originally released in 1979. Loud, ferocious, untamed guitar work, courtesy of Darren Welch, dominates this Lubbock, Texas band's hard to find debut album. Impeccable deliver a massive dose of raw in-yourface rock and roll energy here, captured live in 1979 at a popular night club in Lubbock called The Rox. As a bonus, there are two tracks from the band's ultra-rare debut single from 1978 when they were still known as Axxe. This single is on a lot of collector want lists and is nearly impossible to find these days, even here in Texas. Includes liner notes and photos from the Impeccable archives. First time reissue of classic 1979 Texas hard rock private press record that collectors regularly hunt for. Originals are changing hands for over $100, if you can find one. Has cross genre appeal for fans of classic hard rock, 70s proto-metal and Texas rock and roll or anyone into groups like Granicus, Poobah, Montrose, Moxy, early Rush, Van Halen, Ted Nugent and the like. Includes liner notes and photos from guitarist Darren Welch. Re-mastered by Tony Reed (Saint Vitus,Truth and Janey - Erupts, Iron Claw, Mos Generator, Grifter, Stone Axe and more) CD $16 SKU:20415
J. TEAL BAND -Cooks (1977 Private press hard rock) Label:ROCKADROME Digipack reissue of 1977 private press hard rock album from South Carolina, originally released on the Mother Cleo label. Well respected among collectors for it’s top notch guitar playing and clean undistorted jams. A real long lost gem from the 70s private press underground. “Surprisingly good, underrated small-town hardrocker cruising on a backbone of tight jams that enhance almost every song, with a guitar-playing that is Quicksilver-like in it’s probing flow. Billy Hardy’s lead playing is as good as anything I’ve heard on an Lp of this kind, and unusually varied. The band also offers up a long introspective Top Drawer-ish brooder, utilizing an odd psychedelic effect which again sounds like something from a late 1960s Bay Area album. This LP isn’t unknown, but I bet a lot of people out there will be surprised by how good it is” – The Acid Archiv. A CD $16 SKU:20414
KIM JUNG MI - Wind (S KOREAN 1973 female folk psych ) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA tAt the dawn of the 1970’s, South Korea’s rock music scene was at its zenith. Much of the reason for this was the god-like musical touch of guitar wizard, songwriter, producer, and arranger Shin Joong Hyun. For this album, he took a young girl named Kim Jung Mi, and transformed her from a wallflower student into a folk-psych chanteuse in record time (if Francoise Hardy is the Marianne Faithful of France, then Kim Jung Mi is, I suppose, the Francoise Hardy of Korea). CD $10 SKU:20397
KING BISCUIT ENTERTAINERS- Northwest Unreleased Masters, 1967-1970lgarage mod psych legends - Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) - A retrospective on Pacific Northwest band King Biscuit Entertainers, featuring Ray Kennedy and Roger Huycke from legendary garage band The Wilde Knights (of "Beaver Patrol"/"Just Like Me" fame).- Ranges from British-influenced mod-psych to early hard rock with stunning guitar and vocals.- A selection from their previously unreleased tape archive plus rare 45 sides, 1967-1970, including the fantastic garage-jangle 45 they recorded under the Genesis name LP $17 SKU:16755
MACKAY,DUNCAN - Chimera (70s prog w bonus track)Label:FRESH first time reissue of this 1974 debut album by ex Cockney Rebell/10CC keyboard player (he also played with Kate Bush and Camel), Duncan Mackay. It’s an epic prog rock album in the vein of Rick Wakeman, ELP and Patrick Moraz and is highly recommended for keyboard driven prog rock fans. Remember those heady days of the early 70’s, when a trio of keyboard wizards—Keith Emerson (ELP), Rick Wakeman (Yes) and Jon Lord (Deep Purple)—were winning all the polls and dominating the album sales? Duncan Mackay's “Chimera,” recorded in 1973/4 and forever forgotten by all but the most devout, is a brilliant slice of 70s progressive keyboard-based rock. All three of the wizards mentioned above are obvious influences, but McKay clearly stamps his own sound onto this three-track album. (only three tracks? well this was 1974, the era of 'Tales From Topographic Oceans' by Yes). This reissue includes a bonus track, to make it an even four. CD $16 SKU:20405
MACKAY,DUNCAN - Score (70s prog w bonus track)Label:FRESH Rock keyboard genius Duncan Mackay hooks up with heavyweight players like John Wetton (King Crimson, Asia), Steve Harley (Cockney Rebel) and the London Symphony Orchestra on his second album "Score". Released in 1977, it marks a departure from the all-instrumental direction of his debut "Chimera" to a more traditionally structured rock album without losing his prog rock virtuosity. Highlighted by soaring vocals, stellar playing and sweeping epic songs, "Score" is a welcome addition to Duncan's musical legacy." CD $16 SKU:20411
MANSET, GERARD - 1968 (1970 French rebel)3 ONLY Label:XENON FRANCE CD $18 SKU:20412
NATIONAL WAKE- ST (80s South African rock)Label:FRESH The scene for developing free-thinking rock music in South Africa was a struggle against social and political barriers unlike any place else in the world at that time, except perhaps for the Eastern Block countries then under the thumb of USSR era communism. This is a story of struggle, the sum total of which reaches far beyond the music: National Wake, the band Ian Kadey led in the late 70s and early 80s, were South Africa's first, and indeed only, multiracial punk band. And yet Kadey had kept this unique story to himself, partly because he thought no one was interested (National Wake split in 1982 just after putting out their solitary release, an album of which only 500 copies were pressed), but also, Kadey says, because "it was too painful for me, so I just buried it". The band's two black members, brothers Gary and Punka Khoza had subsequently died: the former had struggled with mental illness and killed himself; the latter died from an Aids-related illness. " Kadey formed National Wake in the aftermath of the Soweto uprising of 1976 – "one of the conditions of living in a repressive state like that is that it just seems impossible to do anything about it, there's a kind of paralysis, but that was a real 'get up, stand up' moment: look at these kids, it's time to take up the fight" – their sound influenced by British and American punk and Bob Marley. If the South African authorities had somehow managed to overlook Bob Marley, they didn't miss National Wake, whose songs didn't exactly cloak their political message in layers of impenetrable metaphor. In three minutes, the band's signature tune 'International News' manages to decry state censorship, the war in Angola and what guitarist Steve Moni calls "the ostrich life of suburban South Africa, just spending your time deliberately trying not to notice things". They seem to have been viewed with a certain awe even by rival punk bands: "They had an aura, like wanted men," says Michael Flek, frontman of South Africa's first punk band Wild Youth. "When they showed up it was like the revolutionaries had arrived" CD $16 SKU:20406
PAX- May God And Your Will Land You And Your Soul Miles Away From Evil- (70s Peruvian legendary hard psych- Label:REPSYCHLED Mini-LP sleeve, legendary hard psych album, from the master tapes, includes two bonus tracks. CD $15 SKU:20418
PUSSY-INVASION(70s post Jerusalem UK) Label:ROCKADROME "Collection of tracks from this early '70s post-Jerusalem UK hard rock group also managed and produced by Ian Gillan (Deep Purple). Includes songs from their lone single for the Deram label plus fourteen other previously unreleased recordings! After the disbanding of Jerusalem - (the rumors over the years said there was a second unreleased Jerusalem album - this is not true - it was actually the Pussy album) - Decca (Deram Label) decided to continue the Jerusalem contract for Pussy. The first and only Pussy release on Deram was a single entitled Feline Woman. The recordings found here represent what was to be the Pussy debut album plus other various tracks all recorded between 1972 and 1973." Includes a 20-page booklet of lyrics and vintage photos CD $16 SKU:20413
SEOMPI Guns in the Skies (the Black Sabbath of Texas, psych rock) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) “While releasing only three singles in the early 1970's, Seompi's mystique has continued to grow through the ensuing decades. Three posthumous releases issued in the late 1990's only added to Seompi's aura—even though two were off speed and the third has been long out of print. This was the status quo for the past couple of decades until now with the release of "Guns In The Skies". Starting off with the hard rocker "AWOL" and then spacing out with the fourteen minute unreleased opus titled "Synergy Squares", Seompi takes you on a trip back to 1971 when Austin, Texas was the stomping ground for their brand of Psychedelic Space Rock. Along the way a young Stevie Ray Vaughn must have seen Seompi perform 'Voodoo Child' because Seompi's version is the Space Rock prototype against which all others measure. "Guns In The Skies" proves that Seompi ranks up there with all the other legendary Texas heavies such as The 13th Floor Elevators, The Zakary Thaks, ZZ Top, and Johnny Winter. MADE LOUD TO BE PLAYED LOUD.”SEOMPI, or Self Expression on Musically Potential Instruments, were an American progressive rock band, formed in Austin, Texas. While diverse in style, heavy beats and distorted guitars and a dark atmosphere were trademark elements of SEOMPI's music. Several of their tracks are heavy and doom-ladden and contain other elements later to be associated with the metal subgenre of doom metal.” Metal Music Archives CD $18 SKU:20309

WILD YOUTH-A Leopard Never Changes Her Spots-(South Africa’s legendary original 70s punks) Label:FRESH : "Released for the first time on CD is the long awaited retrospective of South Africa’s legendary original punk band, Wild Youth. This massive 23 track set includes all of Wild Youth’s late 70`s seminal singles, live and demo tracks plus several songs from the band’s alter ego outfit, The Gay Marines. Wild Youth are prominently featured in the film documentary Punk in Afrika, currently showing in key US and European film festivals." “Well it all started out of boredom, two guys Mark Dyson and I bored out of our skulls. We used to spend hours in his lounge listening to The Rolling Stones ‘Hot Rocks’ and Black Sabbath ‘We Sold Our Souls for Rock And Roll.’ Our friend Peter Kunst was also around but less so as he was more successful with the girls than we were. Boredom and loads of time is very good for creating rock and roll. As they say the Devil makes work for idle hands. My first exposure to Punk came in 1971 when I picked up The Stooges ‘Fun House’ LP… (it) was a mind blowing album, so hard and powerful and sleazy in feel and though I didn’t know it at the time funky and jazzy as well. The next and probably most important step in my quest for Punk was Iggy and the Stooges ‘Raw Power’ LP. David Bowie had done such a wacked out production that beats the latter day Iggy grunge remix heads down. The lead guitar was so loud in proportion to the rest of the music. It has been critically panned as a terribly production but to me it sounded so out of control and amazing. The opening track ‘Search and Destroy’ must be one of the most incendiary tracks ever released and was to become a blue print for much of my music later on.” CD $15 SKU:20409
YOON YOUN SUN-Wing of Peace-(S Korean 70s female trippy vocals) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA in some ways, this could be the female counterpart to Lee Jang Hee’s "Meet Me In a Room": first of all, it also features "best production and trip vocal." It’s almost as if these were albums designed one to answer the other, with Yoon Youn Sun’s beautiful, brooding vocals breathing hope where before there was despair; then there are the retro-early 60’s touches that are reminiscent of French ye-ye music of the François Hardy, France Gall type, sultry, yet nurturing a languid innocence; in any case, this album by Yoon Youn Sun was not released in France in the 1960’s, it was released in Korea in 1972 (KLS-64), which makes Yoon Youn Sun a contemporary of Kim Jung Mi, all in all a good reference point; the record has several modes: there are duets with a male singer (all very tasty); the songs that groove the best (tracks five and six) occur when the cheesy farfisa organ gets involved; the second half of the record features more complex arrangements (a few strings find their way into the mix); it’s no surprise that Koreans like Greek music—some of these songs (track three for example) sound as though they could be Neo Kyma tracks from the Popi Asteriadi record previously issued by World Psychedelia, which is, of course, not a bad thing at all; then again, other tracks sound like early Selda material. One world, one music. Full-color discography included. CD $6 SKU:20399

BAKER GURVITZ ARMY-Live In Milan Italy 1976 -Label:VOICEPRINT The Baker Gurvitz Army came into existence when former Gun and Three man Army members Paul and Adrian Gurvitz joined forces with legendary drummer Ginger Baker in 1974. The Baker Gurvitz Army was the first real musical project for Ginger Baker since the short-lived band Salt in 1972 and Ginger Baker's Airforce some two years prior to that. The band released their first album the self titled “Baker Gurvitz Army” in late 1974, and the album sold well enough to break in to the American charts. The band went on to record two further studio albums including “Elysian Encounter” in 1975 and “Hearts On Fire” in 1976. This live recording, which forms part of the Official Ginger Baker Bootleg Series, was recorded in Milan on the 23rd of March 1976 during the tour to promote what would turn out to be the bands final studio album, “Hearts On Fire.” The set list at this time reflecting the desire to promote the album included four tracks from the album including ‘Hearts On Fire,’ ‘Night People,’ ‘Thirsty For The Blues’ and ‘Neon Lights.’ There are also two tracks from “Elysian Encounter” (‘People’ and ‘Time’) and two from the bands self titled debut (‘Inside Of Me’ and ‘Memory Lane’). This 1970 self-titled LP was recorded in Philadelphia and actually featured several musicians that played with Perry Leopold. Featuring the beautiful and haunting female vocals of Marci Rauer, this music is spacey, bluesy, and psych. CD $10 SKU:20321

LENO-Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney (1971 Brazilian Cream/ STeppenwolf style -Label:LION Leno’s “Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney” was intended as the next musical step after Tropicália, it’s full-blooded rock and roll approach intended to link the music that had already been made to the music that would be played a few years later. This record just might have been that bold step had CBS released it in 1971. But censors banned most of the tracks, and Leno was fortunate (thanks perhaps to his string of innocent sounding Jovem Guarda number one chart hits in Brazil as half of duo Leno e Lillian) not to experience the exile or imprisonment of other artists of the time. He was also fortunate that the master tapes survived in the CBS vaults, making them available for this reissue. The album has a sound that has more to do with bands such as Sly & The Family Stone, the Beatles (post 1967), Cream, and Steppenwolf, and features contributions from music legends Marcos Valle, Raul Seixas (anarchic surrealistic icon of Brazilian counterculture), hard psych rockers A Bolha, and members of Los Shakers and Renato e Seus Blue Caps. One of the most singular records of the 1970’s rock era in Brazil, speaking in terms both historic and musical, with a significance in Brazil that makes people who know it well wonder how it has taken so long to be known worldwide, in a time when the efforts of the Brazilian rock and psychedelic underground scene are so well-documented. A 24-page booklet (packed with photos and lyrics) details Leno’s career, as well as the story behind this exceptional record. CD $12 SKU:20090
LOST SOULS- Mid 60s unknown U.S. Brit Invasion/ psych)Label:LION The Lost Souls never released any records, yet the meager recorded evidence that survives indicates that they were one of the finest unknown American groups of the mid-'60s, able to write both catchy British Invasion-type rockers and, in their latter days, experimental psychedelic pieces with unusual tempo changes and song structures. The band were also unusual in their occasional embellishment of the typical period guitar-bass-drums lineup with flute, sax, and mandolin. Although popular in their Cleveland hometown, they broke up in 1968 to attend college. Rhythm guitarist Denny Carleton, who wrote and sang some of their best material, went on to briefly join The Choir, their chief (and more successful) rivals." —Richie Unterberger The music scene in Cleveland in the mid to late 1960’s was ripe with talent: the James Gang with Joe Walsh and Glenn Schwartz, The Choir, Eric Carmen (pre-Raspberries), Glass Harp with Phil Keaggy, the Damnation of Adam Blessing… and the Lost Souls. Of all those bands, only the Lost Souls never released a record. Then again, they were in high school, trying to navigate dress codes and bullies—and playing in front of a couple thousand fans when not suspended. Sure, they lost a battle of the bands at Teen Fair 1968, but it was to the James Gang with Joe Walsh. And somehow it is the Lost Souls who emerge from that time and place with the greatest mystique and some of the most adventurous music, music which few have heard. Lost Souls main songwriter Denny Carleton released a cassette of the band’s original recordings in 1984. It received airplay on hundreds of college and public radio stations in the USA (and around the world), and garnered glowing reviews… and that was it, until now.
Not only is this the first time the music of the Lost Souls has been available since that cassette, our Lion Productions edition is the first release for many additional Lost Souls cuts, including alternate versions of key tracks like the insightful ‘Things That Are Important’ and ‘I’m Falling’ (the closest to a hit the band ever had), all taken from the original tapes and carefully mastered. Seven bonus tracks highlight the work of Lost Soul's main songwriter Denny Carleton (one-time member of The Choir, and more surprisingly, punk legends the Pagans); selections by The Choir, Moses, Milk and Carleton, many in all possible low-fi glory, recorded on various 4-Track devices, ranging from power-pop to grimy garage.
•Whopping 32-page booklet has the full story of the band and info on the recordings by Carlton
•Includes a multitude of unseen photos from his personal archive
•Carefully remastered from the original tapes (+ the occasional post-Lost Souls 45 single)

THIRD EYE- Complete (1969 psych prog) DOUBLE CD Label:FRESH ‘Long acknowledged by psych-prog fans worldwide as one of the most important South African groups of that genre, Durban’s The Third Eye recorded three landmark albums between 1969 and 1970. Gathered together for the first time on a double disc set are the three albums plus six newly discovered, unreleased studio tracks and rare singles. Packed with photos from the band’s archive and insightful, updated liner notes this release is the complete Third Eye collection.” The Third Eye started playing in 1968, based in Durban -- a coastal city several hundred miles away from the recording and musical hub of Johannesburg. Awakening... came out in 1969 when Dawn Selby was only 14 years old. Just imagine her age when you listen to the blistering organ and piano tracks. Followed by two more albums Searching (1969) and Brother (1970), The Third Eye produced a veritable volcano of work in a short period of time, even challenging fellow peers Freedoms Children for the title of heaviest band in South Africa. Their debut, “Awakening...” is the most complex of all three of their albums, with great brass arrangements, piano, Hammond organ, fuzz-guitar and soul-infused vocals. Musically headed in the direction of bands such as Electric Flag, The Nice, and Al Cooper; pure electric underground of the best sort. On the second album, “Searching,” the music is heavier, the lyrics full of political statements—altogether more psychedelic, and a bigger step down into the musical underground. The 14-minute track ‘Awakening’ is amazing, with great organ and extra heavy fuzz-guitar. The music on “Brother” (1970) is closer to that of their debut (without the brass arrangements), with more organ-based compositions, beautiful vocals, and guitars. Comparable to bands from the U.S. and UK undergrounds, such as Electric Flag and Keef Hartley Band. As we’ve already indicated, this set has all three albums in their entirety, plus six bonus tracks that have never been released before now CD $22 SKU:20407
TIDAL WAVE-Spider Spider-Best Of The Tidal Wave(S American psych pop 1969) Label:FRESH The Tidal Wave were one of South Africa's foremost exponents of psych influenced pop music in the late 60's and early 70's with hits like ‘Spider Spider’ (1969) and ‘Mango Mango’ (1970) and ‘With Tears in My Eyes.’ Although they existed for a relatively short time, the band is regarded by many as the bridge between pop and the then developing 'underground' South African rock scene. This compilation gathers together for the first time all the hit singles, B-sides and rarities. Yes, they did play pop and had a few hits, which were featured on the top radio stations at the time, Springbok Radio and LM Radio. However Tidal Wave also played very interesting psychedelic pop rock enhanced by the fuzz guitar sounds of Mike Pilot. There is a wide variety of music styles covered on this Tidal Wave retrospective. Lovers of end-of-the-sixties psychedelic pop and rock will discover many hidden gems, including the progressive rock sounds of ‘Get It Out Of Your System’ which would not have been out of place on an Abstract Truth album. This disc also includes the funky soul sounds of ‘Town Girl’, featuring Peter Vee’s lead vocal, which was previously unreleased. Tidal Wave is fondly remembered by many and now all their music—the hits, misses and rarities can be found in one place. CD $16 SKU:20408
WARA - El Inca (strange Bolivian hard psych 1972)-Label:REVISTA ”:Very strange hard psychedelic album from Bolivia (1972) with prominent farfisa organ, and acid guitars trying to find common ground with Andean native musical structures; quite strange and interesting, and often called the best testimony (perhaps the only) to the history of Bolivian rock. The addition of cellos, violins, and oboe to some of the arrangements makes them sound ever more complex and odd than otherwise might have been the case with a simple bass-guitar-drums-organ construct. CD $15 SKU:20417
DEEP-Psychedelic Moods-A Mind Expanding PhenomenaTRIPLE LP! -Label:LION First legit LP reissue of this much beloved Canadian pop-psych rarity! Insert with rare photos, lyrics and band history•Limited to 500 copies
Rare yet much beloved Canadian pop-psych record from 1968—an album considered by many to be the best to come out of Canada during the late 1960’s! Built around the talents of singer/guitarist Jay Tefler and bassist Fergus Hambleton, A Passing Fancy made their name in Toronto's vibrant Yorkville Village scene. That initial successes playing Toronto's club circuit led to a headlining stint at the 1967 Toronto Expo. The resulting publicity saw them "discovered" by Columbia Records, who subsequently released a string of four outstanding pop/psych singles. Here's where it gets weird. In spite of the four hit singles, Columbia elected not to release an album. Indie label Boo Records was formed to release "A Passing Fancy" on LP (the singles plus four additional tracks). Although the LP received strong reviews, Boo Records couldn't sustain promotion; by the end of the year the band had called it quits. A shame, as it's a terrific album—tough edgy rock (slashing lead track and hit single, ‘I’m Losing Tonight’); pop/psych (singles tracks ‘A Passing Fancy,’ ‘You're Going Out Of Your Mind,’ and ‘She Phoned’); sunshine pop (‘I Believe in Sunshine’); a great acid rock meltdown (‘Your Trip’). Something for everybody! As usual, we went all out to try to produce a top-notch reissue. A few years of searching led us to A Passing Fancy lead singer, rhythm guitarist, primary song-writer, and later, screenwriter (1977's Kid Vengeance, starring Jim Brown, Lee Van Cleef and Leif Garrett is his), the late Jay Telfer. He supplied a band history and lyrics for all the songs to round out this reissue. LP $28 SKU:16837

SHOTGUN-Dallasian Rock(Tight, urban blues rock Previously unrel vintage studio tracks from the 1970's) - Label:SHROOMANGEL (USA) A blend of hard hitting riff rock á la early Led Zeppelin and James Gang, with a guitar attack reminiscent of bands like Leafhound or Edgar Broughton Band. Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage and soaring, soulful vocals, punchy bass and solid drumming make for a memorable set of songs that you won't soon forget. Shotgun had a successful career in and around Dallas, TX between 1974 and 1977, playing the club circuit and recording at the cities best studios. Sadly, nothing ever came of the recording sessions and Shotgun eventually morphed into VIZION, which released an album in 1980 that featured the vocals of Jan Houston. Finally after more than 38 years, Shotgun's long lost studio sessions are presented for the first time ever on LP as they were meant to be heard. The CD versions includes eleven additional bonus tracks. The most amazing thing about these tracks is how they remained on the shelf all these years! •Tight, muscular, lean and mean urban blues rock riffage. •Previously unreleased vintage studio tracks from the 1970's LP $17 SKU:19500
ESTRUCTURA - Más alla de tu mente (FIRST Venezuelan prog rock from 1977 ) Label:NOT ON LABEL Estructura has the unique distinction of being the first Venezuelan prog band. Even more amazing is the fact that they came around when progressive rock was on the decline. They were formed in 1977 by David Maman (keyboards, voice, main composer), Antonio Rassi (lead guitar, composer), Agni Mogollón (bass, voice, composer), Domenico Prioretti (drums, vocals), Walton de Jongh (special percussion, effects), Marisela Perez (lead vocals), and Maria Eugene Ciliberto (rhythmic and acoustic guitar). Their first album, "Más Allá De Tu Mente" (Beyond Your Mind), was very much like Rick Wakeman's "Journey to the Center of the Earth." It had two pieces, each taking up an album side. Although like Wakeman’s album it also features a narrator, the structure (no pun intended) of the music is completely different. At 65 minutes, it is one of the longest vinyl recordings to be made in Venezuela. One thing that characterized most bands of the Venezuelan symphonic prog scene is the addition of Latin-American elements to their british prog oriented sound (the best example of this is Vytas Brenner) and Estructura is no exception. CD $17 SKU:20333
JEAN-BERNARD DE LIBREVILLE - Allons-Y Gaiement (1969 Belgian psych garage)-Label:VEALS & GEEKS (Belgium) Produced from the original Acetate record made in 1969 and available for the first time. Jean-Bernard de Libreville’s previously unreleased and only album finally available. A TOTALLY mod-freakbeat-free-jazz-psychedelic-garage-rock MASTERPIECE from a demented FRENCH DANDY." LITTO NEBBIA-Fuera del cielo (1972 ARGENTINE PROG ROCK)Label:Melopea Discos This CD includes all tracks from the first Litto Nebbia LP, "Fuera del Cielo", and three bonus tracks representing the very first recordings of the band done in 1972 and previously unreleased. “This album represents the beginning of the most creative phase of a trio featuring Nebbia (leader of Argentine rock band Los Gatos), together with Jorge González and Néstor Astarita. Here they add music to lyrics culled from the poetry of Mirta Defilpo. A work of definite progressive caliber which continues along the familiar song structured path, although in no way conforming to normal limitations. All tracks feature harmonic arrangements, counterpoints and instrumental sequences that blend with the sung passages. The music is remarkably original, and is probably the most striking example of romanticism in progressive rock. I can't remember any other album from that era, the contents of which are as bright and completely free of dramatics as those of "Fuera del Cielo". It is an amazingly strong effort, which is on par with most of the best albums released in 1975. There is no doubt that the original LP would have an immediate international success if it would've been released somewhere in Europe or the USA or had a proper distribution. CD $12 SKU:20338

PLEASURE SEEKERS- What a Way To Die w the Quatro Sisters (60s ) - Label:CRADLE ROCKS Digitally remastered with many never before released recordings! the original 60’s all girl rock and rollers who started a revolution. The Pleasure Seekers lived, played, partied, and rocked the music scene in the Renaissance era of the 60’s, when female musicians were looked upon as “novelty acts”. The Pleasure Seekers and the music they played gained the attention and respect of Detroit “male rockers”, as well as the legends of the era. In just under five years, the Pleasure Seekers toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East, as a headliner, as well as being support for acts like the Yardbirds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Procol Harem, Badfinger, MC5, Bob Seger, Iggy Stooge, and many others. TOMBSTONE VALENTINE - Hidden World (60's/90's West Coast sound)Label:AETHER Quintet with a 60's/90's West Coast sound. Hidden World was mostly recorded at home on a Tascam 238 8-track and features 4 compositions: the title track and the magnificent "Green Sky Night" are 2 pearls of modern West Coast psych rock with Grace Slick-like female lead vocals, wah wah guitar, Country Joe & The Fish type organ patterns and strange synth noises, while the other 2 numbers are purely instrumental and vaguely sound like one of the space jams of the Grateful Dead with Cork Marcheschi of 50 Foot Hose guesting on weird electronic noises. Especially the side-filling "Elastic Reality" is an impressive, long example of avant-garde psychedelics for the next millenium. Outstanding lp, long time since I heard a release that balances so neatly between tradition and experiment, and creates something new under the sun. (Crohingawell, Belgium) CD $8 SKU:20351

INDEX - Originals Vol. 1 (1967-68(the holy grail of psych!)Label:LION All of the original compositions from the band's two self-released holy grails of psychedelia (the Black Album and the Red Album, from 1967-68) combined into one collection—all newly transferred from the original tapes! Most of you have no doubt heard of records that have been touted as “mind blowing”, “fuzz monsters”, or “lost/undiscovered classics”. The raves rarely turn out to be justified. That's certainly not the case with the music of Index—if anything, the raves underplay the essence of the band's music, which is seething with cavernous reverb, snaky guitar lines, and downer lyrics. It is fantastically minimalist, starkly atmospheric, and sprinkled with ferocious guitar work.In the mid 1960’s, Detroit Michigan was a thriving industrial city. But the great ethnic diversity in the inner city was a brewing powder keg of civil unrest. This, coupled with a disillusioned population struggling to make some sense of a questionable war in the rice paddies of Viet Nam, set an uneasy and troubling tempo for the future. Still, there were pockets of communities in the Detroit area where things were good and economic life was vibrant. The Grosse Pointes were such communities. It was on the outskirts of this political and racially tense era, in those affluent suburbs just outside Detroit, that Index was formed. The music of Index has been lauded by (and bootlegged by) music heads for decades, and with good reason: it is unexpected, atmospheric, and "home-made" in the best of all possible ways. The band has a druggie sound, with songs full of feedback and fuzzy guitars, hazy guitar riffs and loud pushy rhythms. And in there amongst the echoing canyons of sound you'll find some snotty post-punk attitude wrapped up in all that trippy velvet fuzz. It's a wonderful bleak sound, droning and murky and introspective—the atonal side of late 1960's rock that would leave the most lasting impression on those who would eventually become punk, post-punk and indie rock... you know, artists like Joy Division or the Fall or Felt to name three out of a thousand. Includes a 4-panel color insert, written by Index drummer Jim Valice, detailing the band's rock and roll adventures, replete with rare photos. LP $24 SKU:19862

PASSING FANCY- ST 60s Canadian sunshine pop-psych w new liners -Label:LION Rare yet much beloved Canadian pop-psych record from 1968—an album considered by many to be the best to come out of Canada during the late 1960’s! •First legit LP reissue of this much beloved Canadian pop-psych rarity!•Insert with rare photos, lyrics and band history•Limited to 500 copiesLP $17 SKU:17395
