NEW ARRIVALS
ELECTRIC FLAG --Best of the Electric Flag (1967 POST PAUL BUTTERFIELD-Label:FLOATING WORLD he short-lived but successful Electric Flag was formed in 1967 by guitarist Mike Bloomfield after he'd left The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, ostensibly to give original guitarist Elvin Bishop, in Mike's words, "A little space." Undoubtedly he had also become uncomfortable with Paul Butterfield's position as bandleader and was anxious to lead his own band. When Bloomfield left, he brought vocalist Nick Gravenites with him. The rest of the original group was a collection of seasoned professionals from some of America's most successful bands. Drummer Buddy Miles had done session work with Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett, bassist Harvey Brooks had been with Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs and Judy Collins. Keyboard player Barry Goldberg had previously played with Steve Miller and Mitch Ryder, Peter Strazza on tenor saxophone had also played for Miller. Trumpeter Marcus Doubleday had backed The Drifters, Jan And Dean as well as Bobby Vinton. Herbie Rich, a well seasoned session man, completed the ensemble on baritone sax . CD $10 SKU:26514
FUSIO N - TOP SOUL (1975 CHILEAN ROCK)Label:LION Impossible to find jazz/soul/funk monster by Fusion, issued in Chile in 1975 by ALBA (ALD-041)-a fulsome combination of funk, electric jazz, and soul, with Latin roots. Bassist Enrique Luna had lived and studied art in New York, and knew first-hand the last, avant-garde years of John Coltrane, and Miles Davis' mutation from hard bop trendsetter into an electric jazz pioneer; Matias Pizarro had appeared on the scene in the mid-60s as a young pianist of outstanding technical ability and advanced ideas. Together they formed a band around a core of Peruvian musicians, with soloists including David Estanovich (tenor sax) and Lautaro Rosas (guitar), plus a rhythm trio of Mario Lecaros (electric piano, former Village Trio), and Orlando Avendaño (drums), with guest appearances by trumpeter Daniel Lencina, and young percussionist Santiago Salas (Santa y su gente). Censorship during the Chilean military regime meant heavy restrictions on artists. Thus the Fusion album was pressed in a very limited quantity, and never legally re-issued-until now! Comes with a bi-lingual booklet which explores the story of Fusion in the context of the rich Chilean rock music scene. CD $10 SKU:26515
MODERN ART - Oriental Towers lost 80s psych gem)-Label:LION Guitar, drum machine and keyboards creating a calm yet dark atmosphere, sometimes psychedelic and no way mellow. Truly a great lost gem!" —Mutant SoundsWelcome to the darkly enchanting minimal synth-pop and psych-tinged world of The Modern Art. CD $10 SKU:26513
PRITCHARD, DAVID - Nocturnal Earthworm Stew-Label:Artoffact A pioneering Canadian composition that combines minimal electronics, prog, tape loops, industrial, and musique concrete, first released on Island Records in 1977. The Artoffact reissue contains bonus tracks, updated cover art, and a new essay celebrating the life and work of David Pritchard. The work features contributions by Nash the Slash, as well as Martin Deller of famed prog band FM. CD $10 SKU:26516
SANTA Y SU GENTE- (SANTA & HIS PEOPLE) Urgente Label:LION In the 1970's in Chile, recording anything was complicated. The state-owned IRT label was administered by the military. Domestic releases gave way to an invasion of foreign music. At most, a Chilean group like Santa Y Su Gente (Santa and his People) could hope for one appearance on television, or a very low-key event-this was the reality of the music world after the coup. Few groups had the good fortune to overcome the prevailing censorship: this was the case with Santa Y Su Gente (Santa and his People). Santiago Salas was a percussionist stepped in jazz. It was he who assembled a band with musicians of the caliber of Lautaro Rosas and Mario Lecaros. The latter was a powerful musician, who would appear in other jazz fusion projects in those difficult years, and then leave Chile together to do an impressive job abroad with his group Comet. The one and only album by Santa Y Su Gente, "Urgente," was released by RCA/IRT/Alba in 1974. This album is very rare, and therefore not well known, apart from the collections of a few dj's. But it contains all you can ask for-a burbling brew of Latin Afro-jazz fusion, half salsa and half Afro, with something powerful to say. Highly recommended! Comes with a bi-lingual booklet which explores the story of Santa Y Su Gente in the context of the rich Chilean rock music scene. CD $10 SKU:26517
VANAY, LAURENCE- (JACQUELINE THIBAULT) Evening Colours-Label:LION Digitally re-mastered and expanded edition of this 1975 album including bonus tracks. Laurence Vanay is the pseudonym for Jacqueline Thibault, wife of music producer and musician Laurent Thibault (Magma). Pure genius: almost all instrumental, with gorgeous keyboards of many types (Hammond, Fender Rhodes, etc.), acoustic/electric guitar, even a little Zeuhl bass. Shimmering, dewy, mysterious, deeply emotional examples of melancholic musical beguilement; anyone with an affinity for golden age 4AD bands like the Cocteau Twins or Dead Can Dance will find much to love here. A devastating high-fashion follow-up to the legendary Galaxies. Comes with 24-page booklet. CD $10 SKU:26518

REVERBERATIONS -- GONE WAY/MY THIRD EYE (garage psych)Label:ROGUE RECORDS Following in the long tradition of Pacific Northwest garage-psychedelia, The Reverberations have been spreading the love of fuzz, 12-string jangle, pounding drums, and Vox organ across Portland and far beyond for the last 7 years. After one cassette, two LPs and four singles on US and European labels, this is their first release since 2020. 'Gone Away' is a bouncy rude number straight from the garage, and the psych-pop flip, 'My Third Eye' suggests searching inward, while rockin' outward. 45 RPM $14 SKU:25144

AKBAYRAM, EDIP-ST- (70s Turkish fuzz) Label:PHARAWAY SOUNDS Edip Akbayram's a frail guy who spent his childhood unable to walk, but once he grew up he was on Istanbul TV in a whitey-fro and knee length colored robes. Akbayram's voice is big & open, and it took him all across Turkey at the height of Anatolian psychedelia. This 1st album collects precious singles from 1972-74, with dark melodies that descend in loose spirals, seemingly forever. Tunes taken from mystic Sufi poets who played the baglama, but retrofitted with hard plowing electric bass lines, funky drums, fuzz-wah guitars and keyboards. Remastered sound, insert/booklet with photos and liner notes by Angela Sawyer (Weirdo Records). CD $12 SKU:25155
BILLYLEE JANEY -Gimme Some Lightning (classic hard rock from ex Truth and Janey guitarist)Label:ROCKADROME If you dig the sounds of Hendrix and Trower, you’ll dig this! This time around, it’s a full throttle non-stop barrage of down and dirty smoldering heavy blues rock guitar licks that just keep coming at you from start to finish. It’s almost like one long heavy guitar jam session where Janey just cuts loose at will. Janey’s mean and nasty tone and signature axe-slingin style are totally electrifying here. And as with all of Janey’s solo albums, it’s not just the guitar playing that stands out but also the great catchy classic rock and blues songs as well. This could very well be his strongest solo album yet! CD $10 SKU:26406
BLUE CHEER -7 (1979- Rare look at the world’s first Heavy Metal Blues band!) Label:SHROOMANGEL A new limited edition TEXAS ROCK DYAMONDS series of small press-run CD releases Raw, heavy, and straight to the point—a rare and wonderful glimpse of Dickie Petersons Blue Cheer. Produced by Eric Albronda and Jim Keylor. Recorded at Army Street Studios in 1979. "Blue Cheer 7 represents a rare look at the world's first true Heavy Metal Blues Band during a late 70s reincarnation which was closest to the sound of their original great success with "Vincebus Eruptum," their million selling debut. "In 1972, the late Dickie Peterson, walked out of the studio after announcing Blue Cheer was finished, after punching his drummer in the mouth for trying to make him drink carrot juice. Despite a glowing review of their sixth LP, "Oh! Pleasant Hope!" by Lester Bangs in Rolling Stone, the band's demise was swift, and about as loud as one hand clapping. Peterson, by his own admission, struggled for years with drug and alcohol abuse, but wasn’t ready to give up on his band. In 1974, an association with Kim Fowley could not get the revamped Blue Cheer lineup a recording contract, though the demos they made together were quite good. Five years later, Dickie had another go at it, briefly enlisting guitarist, singer and songwriter Tony Rainier (whose older brother had been a Cheer roadie before dying in Vietnam) and drummer Michael Fleck." Packaged in a luxurious 6 panel digipac includes expanded artwork and seven additional bonus tracks not on the LP version! CD $12 SKU:24719
BOSSMEN - Personally Yours: The Complete Anthology w liners, rare photos, booklet. -Label:LION Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks ,Massive color booklet with rare photos, Limited to 500 copies. Dick Wagner and his guitar. The Frost. Ursa Major. Lou Reed's "Rock 'n' Roll Animal". Alice Cooper's "Welcome to My Nightmare". Kiss. Aerosmith. Peter Gabriel. Wagner's contribution to rock 'n' roll is immense. And it all started a little bit north of Detroit with the Bossmen. In just three years (1964-67), The Bossmen amassed an impressive run of no less than eight regional number one singles. When you listen to these eighteen original compositions you can sense the long hours and the countless amount of blood, sweat and tears that went into creating them. Whether it's a stinging guitar solo (the sonic blast of an intro on 'Sunshine' comes to mind), a regal four part vocal harmony or a soaring arrangement, each tune bears the distinct early characteristics of the ‘Wagner’ sound that would later bring him success on a global scale and write him into the annals of rock ‘n' roll history. "I look back on the days of The Bossmen with a sort of reverence. These were my first days of recording my own original songs, entering the concert scene and learning the basic trials of making it in the music business. I get chills even today just thinking back on the two or three block line that formed every time we played our home town venue, Daniel’s Den. The Bossmen were the heroes and purveyors of the primal Rock energy for that angelic group of screaming youth. MAN… those were the days!" —Your Boss man, Dick Wagner • Liner notes by Dick Wagner + reflections on the Bossmen by Bo White and Ryan Sparks CD $10 SKU:15879

CHARGE (UK) -ST (Legendary heavy 1973 prog rock)Label:SEELIE COURT Legendary heavy progressive rock concept album that includes the epic side long 'Child Of Nations' suite, and unlike many anti-war songs band leader Dave Ellis had direct experience of the subject having been on active service with the British Army in the Far East. Dominated by Hendrix-esque lead guitar and powerful bass and drums, the original LP was privately issued in a plain white sleeve in 1973 apparently in 99 copies, and now finally sees a reissue. CD $19 SKU:25166

CONTINENTAL CRAWLER- The Anthology 1977-1979 featuring former members of punk band The Misfits-Label:NOT ALOUD . Continental Crawler was many things rolled into one; one part garage, one part power-pop, one part punk — but all featuring former members of punk band The Misfits. In the mid 70’s, The Misfits’ lead singer Glenn Danzig was a member of several groups, playing original material with drummer Jim Catania and guitarists Stevie Lin and Chaz Jones. In 1977, Catania and Lin joined up with bassist Mike Myers and became Continental Crawler; Chaz Jones then joined on keys and guitar. Lin and Jones were Danzig’s first writing partners, uniting his lyrics and original music from Lin and Jones and Catania eventually moved into drummer’s chair for The Misfits. Catania left the Misfits in 1978 to return to Continental Crawler, recording a 45 that now sells for $50+ on the collector’s market. This CD gathers the original six Continental Crawler studio tracks, along with rare live, demos, and basement tapes recorded between 1977 and 1979. CD $10 SKU:26410
DEVIL’S KITCHEN BANDBeen A Long Time Coming, Be A Long Time GonE (late 70s S.F. psych)Label: Covers their entire rambling, gigging, rubbing-shoulders-with-a-multitude-of-famous-bands in the legendary San Francisco psychedelic scene of the late 1960’s existence. Duplicates only one track from the Lysergic Sound LP release of the band’s recordings, one of our best sellers here at Lion Productions… which means eleven recordings get their debut on this disc! "Devil's Kitchen Band was a four-piece rock and roll band that lived and performed in San Francisco from the spring of 1968 through the summer of 1970. They were the “house band” at Chet Helm’s “Family Dog on the Great Highway,” opening for, and often jamming with, many of the most well-known groups of the times. They performed at all of the major West Coast venues from San Francisco’s Fillmore to L.A.’s Whisky A Go Go. This CD is a collection of live recordings from 1969 and 1970 in San Francisco and is an attempt to give the listener the feel of being at a show at one of the venues of the times. The tracks were recorded on different days, in different halls, by different engineers. We have remastered these tracks to sound as much as possible as if they were all recorded the same evening as a coherent set of live music. We hope you enjoy this set of twelve songs from the late 60s San Francisco by one of the very talented but little known bands of the era. Peace, Love & Music, from Devil’s Kitchen” Legendary stuff, available at a crazy low price, in the least expected format in this day and age. So why hesitate or wonder? Buy it in profusion and be well satisfied! •Limited edition of 300 copies. •Companion to superb vinyl-only album of unreleased music (info below) •Different versions of 6 of the 8 songs on the LP release—duplicates only one song, Farm Bust Blues CD $10 SKU:26194
DOUG SNYDER & BOB THOMPSON - Daily Dance (IGGY/MC5 influenced) -Label:LION After meeting at a Stooges/MC5 concert, drummer Bob Thompson and guitarist Doug Snyder met one fine day in October 1972 in Thompson’s kitchen and bashed out this set of fiery improvisations, seemingly influenced as much by Iggy’s proto-punk moves as John Coltrane’s whole "sheets of sound" ethos; the result is a mythical frenzy of distorted guitar and improvised drums, creating walls of psychedelic noise; its sound is unparalleled for its time, preceding its closest kin, New York's no-wave explosion, by a solid five years. And because of it's lack of pretensions (it was done almost innocently), the record comes off as something, dare we say, a little more "spiritual" than is the norm for such excursions. It is a singular recording, one that mainlines the classic high energy pantheon of the Velvet Underground, Stooges, Pharaoh Sanders, Sonny Sharrock, etc. while anticipating the free jazz/noise/no wave synthesis of groups that would follow in their footsteps. Thompson and Snyder get into some abstruse territory, with Snyder tearing industrial gamelan shapes from his six strings while Thompson uses the guts of his kit as the basis for new tonal alphabets. But it’s all rendered with a strong savage ethos that effortlessly equates monochord rock obliteration with the celestial freedom of Cecil Taylor/John Coltrane, et al., while establishing new territory as advanced as that attained by the most far-reaching visionaries of the rock ‘n’ roll blueprint... still hard to believe that this was recorded in 1972. A major historical unearthing, remastered from the original tapes, and beautifully packaged in a Stoughton paste-on mini-LP jacket, with an informative Obi/U-Card, and an extensive 20-page booklet of liner notes and photos. Produced in conjunction with Cantor Records, who recently made Daily Dance available on vinyl for the first time in 35 years. Includes one bonus track (not included on the LP reissue), which was intended for the original release, but left off at the last moment for time considerations.
"They generate waves of energy through cascading feedback squall and drumbo bash and shimmer. A few tracks will start with something vaguely resembling a 'groove,' before they quickly deteriorate into their lonely Buckeye din." —Dante Carfagna.
"In 1972-73, all of their respective busy-'60s musical experiences coalesced in the birth of this Daily Dance disc you're now sliding into. With Bob the more seasoned pro at this point, his drums carry the careening melodies, while Doug's electric-guitar forays furnish the skronked rhythms, a kind of role-reversal that gives this set its terrific texture. I reviewed the original Daily Dance LP in Creem magazine back in 1977, when I called it, "Abstract, but terribly immediate music... Highly Recommended. There's nothing I could add to that capsule now." —Richard Riegel
(Riegel's writings about music have appeared in Creem, the Village Voice, the Washington Post, and other publications, since the 1970's).

DRUIDS-Burnt Offering( 1969 acoustic folk) -Label:ATOM The Druids were a superb acoustic folk quintet formed in 1969, who started a little too late to achieve the major popularity of outfits like Steeleye Span and Fairport Convention, although they were very well respected across the UK. The cover design, containing The Wicker Colossus of the Druids (depicting a scene like something out of the denouement to The Wicker Man), showed that the group meant business, and they had the musical smarts to back it up. There's not a dull or predictable moment here, whether they're singing of lust (‘The Cuckoo's Nest’), plague victims (‘Gabriel John’), or romantic woes (‘The Butcher and the Parson'), as well as a straight acoustic rendition of one version of ‘A Sailor's Life,’ a song that became something of a concert standard for Fairport Convention as an extended electric piece. Itinerant fiddler Dave Broughton joined them, and in 1970, while appearing in a documentary film about English folk musicians, they met fifth member Judi Longden, who added her voice to the proceedings. With their reliance on acoustic instruments, the Druids were far more tradition-based than either Fairport Convention or Steeleye Span. Their repertory consisted of traditional English, Scottish, Welsh, and Irish songs arranged for four voices, and their music had a pleasingly archaic feel, not resembling folk-rock at all. If anything, they sounded more like the kind of outfit that A.L. Lloyd or Ralph Vaughan Williams (editors of the definitive collection of English folk songs) would have approved of, without a trace of uncalled for elegance or pretentiousness. Burnt Offerings is the first time on CD and deserves to be out there sharing a piece of Folk history that allows the world to see how it is done. CD $12 SKU:24840
GOLEM - Orion Awakes (70s Kraut psych space rock)Label:ACME/ LION Epic early to mid-1970's instrumental psychedelic space-rock from the Pyramid Records archive, said to be pseudonymous after-hours studio sessions featuring the biggest names on the Krautrock scene at the time; heavy drums, jamming guitars and Hammond organ: in short, and amazing improvised free-form trip of impressive magnitude, on par with the music of Krautrock heavyweights like Neu! and Gila. An adventurous atmosphere throughout, whether the result is hallucinogenic and jazzy ('Jupiter'), the heavy freak and roll of 'The Returning,' with crushing guitars and massive, repetitive almost funky rhythm, or the Jimi Hendrix-inspired 'Godhead Dance.' Booklet essay examines the controversy surrounding this and other recordings first made known to the world via Virgin Records' three disc "Unknown Deutschland" series of compilations from the 19901s, including the fact that one "Genius P Orridge" is named as producer of the Golem album. It1s clear enough to all that Genius P Orridge is strangely similar to the name Genesis P Orridge, he of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV fame. The fact that the other names on the Golem album jacket lead nowhere only adds to the confusion. In any case, a deep and fascinating record, still fresh despite the years... and meant to be played loud. 3A space-rockin' hybrid of Gila and instrumental Hendrix type moves, Golem were another band from the lost Pyramid Records archive. Totally instrumental, and a feast for guitar fans... On first listen Golem comes across as a lost classic of Krautrock without a doubt, with a music that blends everything from Neu! to Novalis, and all crammed full of solos.2 ‹Crack in the Cosmic Egg CD $10 SKU:11999
GREEN - ST plus bonus tracks (Chicago 80s glam power pop) -Label:LION Seven bonus tracks, including the CD debut of the band’s 1984 EP "The Name of This Band is Green." Printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. "Their (first) 45 had two absolute masterpieces: ‘Gotta Getta Record Out,’ which yelps and shouts along like the best of the old Bongos or Jam or Feelies or somebody, and ‘I Don’t Want To Say No,’ which is the sort of white Motown that assholes like the Replacments could never get right. This is not a punk record, except perhaps in spirit, but it isn’t any worse for that."—Steve Albini CD $10 SKU:14882
GROWING CONCERN, THE- ST (6os West Coast psych pop) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA "Although virtually nothing is known of Growing Concern, their only album (Mainstream, 1969) is an enjoyable piece of West Coast psychedelic pop” CD $10 SKU:23378
IMPECCABLE--Live on the Rox(Rare Texas private press 1979 )Label:ROCKADROME Long anticipated reissue of rare Texas hard rock private press record originally released in 1979. Loud, ferocious, untamed guitar work, courtesy of Darren Welch, dominates this 6/21/2019Lubbock, Texas band's hard to find debut album. Impeccable deliver a massive dose of raw in-yourface rock and roll energy here, captured live in 1979 at a popular night club in Lubbock called The Rox. IMPI-ST (Rare sole 1971 album by African influenced prog rock band)Label:FRESH Not much information out there about this rare one-off 1971 album (released by CBS back in the day); African influenced progressive rock, by some or all of the members of the South African band the Bats. There are the occasional flashes of pastoral flute/pennywhistle tinged folk mixed with psych guitar, jazz rock brass, soulful vocals and thundering percussion. Comparisons with Vertigo bands Jade Warrior, early Gravy Train and Assegai and bands like Chicago and Greatest Show on Earth. As for the Bats: It all started in 1964 when Eddie Eckstein, Paul Ditchfield, Pete Clifford and the late Barry Jarman, burst onto the local scene and became, to many ardent followers, South Africa's answer to the Beatles. They toured for more than a year (1966) in the UK, sharing the stage with the Kinks, the Troggs, the Zombies, etc. They had a string of successful singles and LPs on CBS, before going through the temporary identity crisis that resulted in the Impi album CD $14 SKU:20404
INDONESIAN JUNK - LIVING IN A NIGHTMARE(Dead Boys/Cheap Trick/ BOmp style!)Label:RUM BAR Raised on a diet of a.o. Dead Boys, The Choir, Bomp! INFINITY- Collected Works 1969-70 (UK psych legends) Label:ACME Legendary UK psych outfit Infinity formed in 1969 from the ashes of “Chocolate Soup” psych faves the Flies and Cymbaline. The mission: to develop a heavy psychedelic/pop sound, and express it through complex original songs. Thanks to some funky Hammond organ, punchy guitars, and the band’s unique harmonies, Infinity were no run of the mill outfit. Upon their return to mainland England from a residency in Jersey, they joined the high-profile NEMS agency, alongside heavy hitters like Pink Floyd, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Soft Machine, and Pretty Things. In late 1969 and early 1970, following support slots with The Searchers and Marmalade, Infinity recorded original material for a proposed album, which was meant to explore “time, space, matter, energy and chicken phal, said in some circles to be so hot in a culinary sense that it's temperature approached infinity,” or so they have said, with tongue-in-cheek, we have to believe. Sadly, they broke up soon after the sessions. The good news is that the band left behind the recordings presented on this disc, which can now be enjoyed in the digital format after the passage of more than four decades! Comes with a 24-page booklet which includes band history, photos, and more, printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. CD $10 SKU:11333
JARDINE- Look in the Window( lost jewel of late-1960's UK psych)Label:LION Jardine’s album was recorded in three glorious weeks in June 1969, at Sounds Aquarian Studios, a stone’s throw from that justifiably famous fashion hub, Carnaby Street. The sessions were fun. Polydor was supposed to release the album. Musicians dropped in to say "hello" and ended up on the record (uncredited)—among them Peter Frampton, Andrew "Andy" Bown (Herd and Status Quo), and Brian Appleyard (drummer from East of Eden). Singer Mickey Cox had been in Robert Plant’s pre-Led Zeppelin group The Band of Joy—it was Cox, in fact, who became their singer when Plant left the band. But suddenly, thanks to band management problems, the LP was shelved. Keith Law, who had written all of the songs, joined Velvett Fogg for their only album, and Jardine was forgotten. Now, forty years later, you can be among the first to discover the brooding excellence of these tracks, music both strange and sinister, with moments of fragile beauty. There are some very pretty songs here (haunting melodies abound), but there is no escaping the dark side of life (‘Masochists of Strangulation,’ ‘Execution of the Child,’ and monumental dirge ‘Blackbirds of Jardine’, which tells of self-same birds, and the fact that they will “destroy you, and leave you pain, pain, pain”), songs perhaps more akin to the band Comus than to anything else we have encountered from the psychedelic era. There are also heavy guitar solos, churning organ, flute, and flowing sitar, for good measure. A 16-page booklet includes a band history lyrics, and comments on the songs by Keith Law. A lost jewel of late-1960's UK psychedelia, from a short-lived but charismatic band! CD $10 SKU:10134
JEM TARGAL-Luckey Guy (1978 SOLO SESSIONS)Label:OBSCURE OXIDE 1978 MEGA RARE PRIVATE PRESS PSYCH ORIG Jem Targal first made his mark as vocalist/bassist/main songwriter for Detroit power-trio legends Third Power (their lone Vanguard album from 1969 still rightfully well-regarded today). After the band split in 1972, a despondent Jem took up home recording, laying down hours of tape on a Teac 4-track machine. Jem selected the best cuts from these solo sessions in 1978 and released “Luckey Guy”—pasting the gatefold covers and handling all sales himself in true DIY fashion. The album never stays still with one style for too long, but rather drifts along with spaced-out guitar (‘Bumble Bee Drive’), tortured, dissonant piano (‘Ring Out The Bells’), culminating in a sparse, apocalyptic tale (‘The Bomb Tune’), with bits of childlike whimsy and Jem’s eerie harmonies woven throughout, not to mention a few musical touches that indicate its mid-1970's vintage. Were we to shamelessly namedrop, we might mention Syd Barrett, Skip Spence, Brian Wilson and Gary Wilson as starting points... But we're above that, for its the first ever appearance on compact disc of this odd and eclectic bit of loner folk/psych. The label tracked down the master-tapes, miraculously still in storage at the original pressing plant, and created a mini-LP sleeve replica of the original album jacket, that includes an insert booklet with liner notes and newly-transcribed lyrics handwritten by Jem himself. Audio digitally transferred, with no added compression or equalisation, from the 1/4" analogue two-track master reels.” CD $12 SKU:26197
JULY- Second of July ( Stunning demos by one of the most important psychedelic bands to ever exist ) -Label:ACME/LION •Digipack with 12-page booklet detailing the history of July and their recordings
•Available again on CD after more than a decade By this time, anyone with an interest in psychedelia that stretches beyond the Beatles or maybe Strawberry Alarm Clock (at a pinch), knows who July is. Well, at least they know that a band called July put out a super rare album that is considered by many to be one of the pinnacles of the psychedelic era. There's no way to overstate the excellence of the album, with its eerie sound, Indian-influenced chord sequences, studio trickery (tape loops/phasing), and heavily reverb-laden vocals. But that’s not the story we’re here to tell. Even before that quintessential psychedelic album was made, band leader Tom Newman was experimenting with home recording equipment. In 1967, he installed basic recording facilities in the bedroom of his flat in an old Victorian house in Ealing. There, he and guitarist Peter Cook tried out ideas, coming up with many of the standout songs from the July album. The demos they recorded display the kind of confidence that Newman feels was lacking in the album proper (yes, the ultra- famous psychedelic classic album!) that they recorded in 1968. Let’s go back to the near-beginning of it all, to a flat in a Victorian house in Ealing, and listen in on demos recorded with DIY alacrity by a studio whiz, tracks which will change the face of psychedelia, eventually, after decades of obscurity. KING BEE -ST (1979-81 unreleased and live )Label:DOOMTOWN SOUNDS More than 40 YEARS IN THE MAKING! Doomtown Sounds, in collaboration with Toody Cole and the surviving members of the band, is proud to present the release of the King Bee album, containing a dozen unreleased studio and live songs recorded between 1977 and 1981. King Bee was Fred Cole's late '70s band, and their music occupied an important position in Fred's development as a songwriter. This often-overlooked part of Fred's career saw him combining elements of his '60s roots with this new sound called punk rock, and it was this synthesis of styles which led to the Rats, and, eventually, to the creation of Dead Moon. These missing gems are being made available here for the first time ever, recovered from archived tapes, carefully restored and mastered. Compiled from master reels and cassette tapes that had been stored in a box for more than 40 years, this album contains more than a dozen unreleased studio and live tracks, as well as the three tracks from the band's 1978 7" EP. LOST SOULS--ST mid 60s unknown U.S. Brit Invasion/ psych) SAALE!Label:LION The Lost Souls never released any records, yet the meager recorded evidence that survives indicates that they were one of the finest unknown American groups of the mid-'60s, able to write both catchy British Invasion-type rockers and, in their latter days, experimental psychedelic pieces with unusual tempo changes and song structures. The band were also unusual in their occasional embellishment of the typical period guitar-bass-drums lineup with flute, sax, and mandolin. Although popular in their Cleveland hometown, they broke up in 1968 to attend college. Rhythm guitarist Denny Carleton, who wrote and sang some of their best material, went on to briefly join The Choir, their chief (and more successful) rivals." —Richie Unterberger The music scene in Cleveland in the mid to late 1960’s was ripe with talent: the James Gang with Joe Walsh and Glenn Schwartz, The Choir, Eric Carmen (pre-Raspberries), Glass Harp with Phil Keaggy, the Damnation of Adam Blessing… and the Lost Souls. Of all those bands, only the Lost Souls never released a record. Then again, they were in high school, trying to navigate dress codes and bullies—and playing in front of a couple thousand fans when not suspended. Sure, they lost a battle of the bands at Teen Fair 1968, but it was to the James Gang with Joe Walsh. And somehow it is the Lost Souls who emerge from that time and place with the greatest mystique and some of the most adventurous music, music which few have heard. Lost Souls main songwriter Denny Carleton released a cassette of the band’s original recordings in 1984. It received airplay on hundreds of college and public radio stations in the USA (and around the world), and garnered glowing reviews… and that was it, until now.Not only is this the first time the music of the Lost Souls has been available since that cassette, our Lion Productions edition is the first release for many additional Lost Souls cuts, including alternate versions of key tracks like the insightful ‘Things That Are Important’ and ‘I’m Falling’ (the closest to a hit the band ever had), all taken from the original tapes and carefully mastered. Seven bonus tracks highlight the work of Lost Soul's main songwriter Denny Carleton (one-time member of The Choir, and more surprisingly, punk legends the Pagans); selections by The Choir, Moses, Milk and Carleton, many in all possible low-fi glory, recorded on various 4-Track devices, ranging from power-pop to grimy garage.•Whopping 32-page booklet has the full story of the band and info on the recordings by Carlton
•Includes a multitude of unseen photos from his personal archive
•Carefully remastered from the original tapes (+ the occasional post-Lost Souls 45 single)

MARCUS (Rusty Evans) - Original LP and Outtakes DBL CD (60s psych w 32 bonus tracks and 20 PAGE BOOKLET) - Label:LION fter the release of the Freak Scene album, psychedelic guru Rusty Evans made his way from NYC to San Francisco, a geographic shift that resulted in work for the legendary San Francisco Sound label, producing bands such as It’s A Beautiful Day, Tripsichord, and Indian Puddin’ and Pipe; it also led to a drastic shift in style from the psychedelic "happening" of the Deep album for Cameo Parkway and the raga rock of the Freak Scene album for Columbia. And so it came to pass that Evans reclaimed his birth name of Marcus, and recorded a very mellow LP in 1969 for Kinetic Records, a label formed by the Kinetic Playground Ballroom in Chicago. Like much of Marcus’ work, the album is a fascinating relic of a particular time and place, in this instance San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury district in the post-Summer of Love era. The Marcus LP is richly orchestrated psychedelic-folk music, with a pronounced Donovan and/or Tim Harden flavor to it, something that did not escape its creator. The mood is dreamy, the songs reflective, the voice vibrato, the album a yin to the yang of the Freak Scene "Psychedelic Psoul" album which precedes it by two years. So we have the hot and aggressive Freak Scene album contrasted—some might say perfectly balanced—by the diffuse and tranquil Marcus album two years later. To our mind, further proof of the excellence of the artistic mind behind both albums. This is the first actual re-issue of the vastly under-rated Marcus album since 1969; the only previous CD edition used alternate takes and not the album versions. Our fulsome edition indulges any completionist fantasies we might harbor, as it also serves up thirty-two bonus tracks, nearly two hours of alternate takes and acoustic demos (plus a few non-album tracks). There are guitar/voice demos recorded several months before Kinetic came along and offered a deal; other home demos have Marcus with acoustic guitar, bass and cello. There are guitar/voice demos were recorded six to eight months before Kinetic came along and offered a deal; other home demos have Marcus with acoustic guitar, bass and cello. There are also abundant demo studio versions, some of tremendous quality. The end result is (apparently) our first "interactive" release, as you can create your own ideal version of the Marcus album. Budget-priced double disc package includes a 20-page booklet, with an introduction by Marcus, his incredible history in music, as well as lyrics. Printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. CD $10 SKU:14223

NEON PEARL1967 Recordings-UK Psych garage- Label:LION Lost-in-time, dreamy, mysterious sounding British psychedelia from the magical year of 1967, never released at the time. Neon Pearl was created in 1967 by supreme drummer/songwriter Peter Dunton (The Flies, Gun, Please, T2...) with the intention of playing in Germany. Once there, they played a lot of gigs and were offered a residency at the Top Ten Club in Siegen. Their particular sound, mix of covers, original material (written by Dunton) and psychedelic improvisation, earned them local cult status. After some line-up changes, the band regrouped in London as a trio: Peter Dunton on drums/keyboards/vocals plus Bernie Jinks (Bulldog Breed, T2) on bass and Nick Spenser on guitar. This line-up recorded some studio demos, featuring tracks like 'Dream Scream', which was usually their final number in their live sets, where they extended it to 10 minutes or more. With no interest from record companies, Neon Pearl split, giving birth to Please, another cult band led by Peter Dunton. Those demos were first recovered by the Acme label in 2001 and subsequently released as '1967 Recordings'. Taken from the original masters. "The music of Neon Pearl is not about complication or extraordinary guitar playing - Neon Pearl is about the steady redemption of warm fog, ethereal jangling guitars, dream laden lyrics and the altered state of consciousness it's able to bring on though an elegant deep and pervasive sedative drone." ~Jenell Kesler CD $10 SKU:26172

PARAMETER- GALACTIC RAMBLE (1971 prog folk Syd Barrett style) Label:SEELIE COURT Stellar progressive psychedelic folk rock with a huge Syd Barrett influence and lashings of distorted fuzz guitar psychedelic ballads. PLEASURE SEEKERS- What a Way To Die w the Quatro Sisters (60s ) - Label:CRADLE ROCKS Digitally remastered with many never before released recordings! the original 60’s all girl rock and rollers who started a revolution. The Pleasure Seekers lived, played, partied, and rocked the music scene in the Renaissance era of the 60’s, when female musicians were looked upon as “novelty acts”. The Pleasure Seekers and the music they played gained the attention and respect of Detroit “male rockers”, as well as the legends of the era. In just under five years, the Pleasure Seekers toured extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East, as a headliner, as well as being support for acts like the Yardbirds, Eric Burdon and the Animals, Joe Cocker, Alice Cooper, Procol Harem, Badfinger, MC5, Bob Seger, Iggy Stooge, and many others. POP MUSIC TEAM - Society Is A Shit (ultra rare Mexican 60s psych Iron Butterfly/Doors style )Label:VAM MEXICO Pop Music Team were among the first psychedelic bands in Mexico, writing original material influenced by Iron Butterfly, Jefferson Airplane, and the Doors (they even opened for the Doors at the Forum in Mexico City). This is a reissue of their legendary unreleased album, recorded for Orfeon in April 1969, with killer fuzz guitar and organ, mostly sung in English. This music should be known to all psych music heads, but it isn’t: so what happened? It’s simple. A demo recording of the band’s track ‘Tlatelolco 68’ was broadcast on the radio in 1969. The Mexican government heard the track, and immediately quashed the release of the album; their objection: the song described the brutal repression of the student movement in Mexico (students were slaughtered at La Plaza de las Tres Culturas in Tlatelolco, Mexico City). For a long time, about 36 years to be precise, no one knew that an entire album had been recorded, or where to find the masters. But here it is, psychedelic garage jams with sweet fuzz and farfisa, including ‘Tlatelolco 68’, which turns out to be a 10-minute freaked out long jam. Sure, the cover art looks like a bubble gum packet (there was no original jacket art, since the album was never released), but don't let that or the band name scare you. This is wonderful stuff! QUARTETO 1111 -Singles and EPs(POP PSYCH 1967)-Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) A band that featured the most legendary musician in Portuguese pop music history (Jose Cid, widely renowned in mellotron and progressive music circles), and yet this is the first chance we ve had to hear anything by his legendary group. What we find is a very nicely packaged fifteen track collection of delicious melodic pop/psychedelia that leads off with Quarteto 1111 s striking debut single A Lenda De El-Rei D. Sebastiao from 1967, a song which changed the course of pop music in Portugal. As with any band of quality in that heady time, Quarteto 1111 (Jose Cid in particular) had run-ins with the politicos, which caused some of their output to be suppressed; yet, here are tracks from every year between 1967-1971, including their two English language songs Ode to the Beatles and Back to the Country ; the Beatles were obviously a very big influence on Quarteto 1111, which is evident in everything from melodic construction of the songs, to use of backward tape effects, instrumentation, string arrangements, etc.)

ST. MIKAEL - MIND OF FIRE (80s PSYCH) -Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUND Incredibly enough, but very naturally, after 11-years silence heres a new album by this mysterious and legendary Swedish psychedelic multi-instrumentalist. S.T. Mikael spearheaded the DIY psychedelic rock/folk movement of the late 1980s-mid-90s, with a collection of albums that now fetches up and over $1000 on Ebay. During his long absence S.T. Mikael grew more secretive and reclusive, but all the while he was still writing music. Now that hes finally back heres at last a chance for the world to join in to his psychedelic world again. The music, stretching out in many different musical directions, has been done freely and spontaneously in an extremely relaxed and happy environment, where Mikael joined forces with Dungens Reine Fiske and Fredrik Bjorling whos musical expertise now also grace the grooves. These otherworldly acid tripper recordings now exists in the real world and S.T. Mikael, proves, once again, to be a gifted songwriter and an unconventional performer with a very personal ear for acoustics and an emotional honesty seldom seen these days. Folk rocky melodic elements flow with waves of heavy fuzzphase leads, weird detached haunted vocal echoes over the band and the whole thing seems to teeter on the brink of psychedelic oblivion. Not revival either but purely of the now. You do get the feeing that Mikael actually lives the lifestyle rather than just emulating it. His soaring vocals, surreal lyrics, fragile, folky melodies, heavy fuzz riffs, mind bending soul funk and penchant for the spiritual and mystical make this altogether a fascinating voyage that is so mind twisting, soul swirling, upper psychedelic that your third eye takes you on a joyride thru an altered state! This album makes your brain start thinking in those pebble splash pond mind circular expanding waveforms that people on this vibe await the returning ship their roots sent out to bring back the password to tomorrow. A homage to LSD which helped him make the transformation possible. This is part one of a suite of two separate albums. The CD also contains 9 previously unreleased vintage recordings and an unique spoken introductions by Mikael. CD $10 SKU:25076

STONER - TOTALLY ( heavy blues, desert rock and psych rock jams) SAALE!Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUL f the name Stöner seems a little on the nose, well... it is. Brant Bjork and Nick Oliveri, founding members of the stoner rock legend Kyuss, are joined again by drummer Ryan Güt (of Bjork's solo band) and they've got dibs on the thick and dusty swinging grooves, returning as Stöner with their sophomore release 'Totally...' Stöner's love for their early inspirations (bands like Blue Oyster Cult, Kiss, Ramones, Blue Cheer, Misfits, Black Flag, The Stooges, MC5) result in big, groovy, sunbaked riffs that can cruise low and slow but then floor it and run all the red lights. Live, this is a band about the magnetism between the players, the groove, the loose vibe and straight up badass rock and roll... Stöner are masters of their trade. With 'Totally...' Stöner is in its true form, getting together and having fun. Stöner's world is a colorful joyride, heavy of rock but not of head. The record cranks with vibes of classic hard rock, heavy blues, desert rock and psych rock jams - things that come organically to this trio. Stöner can't help but express an abundance of punk rock rawness and passion for real rock and roll swagger. With two records, 'Live At Mojave' and 'Stoners Rule' (available on Heavy Psych Sounds), 'Totally...' sees the band realizing the chemistry of these old friends developing a statement of pure rock and roll fun.
Produced, recorded and mixed by Yoseph Sanborn and Stöner. Guest appearances on guitar by Greg Hetson (Circle Jerks) and Mario Lalli (Yawning Man). CD $17 SKU:25127
STRAWBS -Strawberry Sample Number 1 (1969 privatepress)-Label:WITCHWOOD MEDIA In 1969, the Strawbs assembled a privately pressed sampler of unreleased material to circulate among publishers to solicit possible cover versions (just 99 copies were pressed, of which only two or three are known to exist today). Among the tracks are different versions of songs that appeared on the Sandy & the Strawbs, Preserves Uncanned, Dragonfly, and Grave New World albums, as well as one tune, the lush pop-folk ballad 'Whichever Way the Wind Blows,' which was never released anywhere else. Although the differences between those and the other takes in circulation are sometimes slight, there are some notable and intriguing differences, as in the ambient pub voices and piano of 'How Everyone but Sam Was a Hypocrite?'; the strings on the Cousins-sung versions of 'And You Need Me' and 'Stay Awhile'; the jaunty orchestral arrangement of 'Sweetling'; and a downright strange instrumental waltz rendition of 'And You Need Me' that segues into 'Josephine.' Beautiful stuff... as would be any record with alternate versions of Sandy Denny & Strawbs tracks on it. CD $10 SKU:26060
SUN ALSO RISES - ST (Superb 70s Brit acid psych folk) Label:LION Superb sought-after 1970 British acid folk rarity from the Village Thing label. The Sun Also Rises is another case of a folk/psych duo (we’re thinking of Emtidi, whose “Saat” album we have also reissued) who virtually disappeared in the flesh, once they had left behind a small but fascinating recorded legacy. The sole Sun Also Rises album has been reissued (legally and illegally) on several occasions, a testament to continuing interest in the music contained therein. Who were they? They were Graham and Anne Hemingway from Cardiff, described everywhere as a mystical, magical hippie female and male folk duo, who played guitars, dulcimer, glockenspiel, vibes, bells, kazoo, percussion—joined throughout by label-mate John Turner (bowed and finger-picked string bass), and Andy Leggett. Their one and only album is very much in the creative style and delivery of the Incredible String Band, with similarities to the work of their contemporaries Dr. Strangely Strange, COB, Comus, Forest and Tir Na Nog, as well as others of the original freak-folk brigade. The results of their efforts were tripped-out, spellbinding, esoteric folk collages—songs of wizards and dragons, dreams and intentions, love, flickering candlelight, the sweet scent of half-remembered summers, death, jasmine, and suicide. We hope that this album will come as a wonderful surprise for lovers of the Incredible String Band and their ilk, as there were few bands that were able to stray into this much loved and much loathed world of fantasy and folk music, and live to tell the tale. Our Lion Productions edition comes with a 16-page booklet printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy, which contains a small dose of band info, album lyrics, histories of the Village Thing and Saydisc labels by co-founder Gef Lucena, as well as a Village Thing label discography. CD $10 SKU:10594
SUN DIAL-Return Journey (psych classic)Label:GALLIUM ARSENIDE (USA) More recordings from the same time period as their stone cold psychedelic classic "Other Way Out” album, including some less-polished interpretations of early Sundial tracks, and an incredible cover version of Open Mind's 'Magic Potion’. Tripping the flashing trip fantastic, with characteristic great guitar from Ramon. Slightly revised artwork for this U.S. reissue of the out-of-print Acme LP/CD. CD $10 SKU:26404
TIN HOUSE- ST (70s powerhouse rock) w liners, rare photos, insert plus pic slv EP -Label:LION There's a vibe within the grooves of Tin House, which makes it sound fresh even 46 years after its initial release. This relatively obscure power trio from Orlando, Florida were admired and approved of by Johnny and Edgar Winter, and Leslie West was also a fan. Comprising ten juicy tracks and clocking in at 34 minutes, Tin House is a roller-coaster ride through hard and heavy blues rock blasters and gentler twists and turns, all executed with individuality and excellent musicianship. High testosterone levels fuel the frenzy of pile-driving opener 'I Want Your Body,' with its naff lyrics taking a back seat to the full on proto-metal assault. It's a killer track, and not the only one. 'Silver Star,' with the opening line "Ride a crimson horse through the depths of hell," exudes more class than all-out bombast, with hints of Cream and Mountain shining through the darkness. 'Be Good and Be Kind' is another belter, as is ‘Jezebel,' while the semi-acoustic ‘Tomorrow' shows a mellower side, as does the lush string section on majestic closer 'Lady of the Silent Opera. Early-70s American hard rock albums don't get much better than Tin House. Floyd Radford is the star of the show with his tasteful playing, soloing, riffs, textures, and overall tone. Had he not been poached by the Winter brothers, who knows what kind of future Tin House would have had? LD — Classic Rock magazine, March 2017 CD $10 SKU:17823
TWENTY FIVE VIEWS OF WORTHING-ST (rare 70s prog rock)-Label:SEELIE COURT Legendary Canterbury scene band with long complex progressive rock tracks in the vein of Soft Machine, Egg, Matching Mole and Caravan. Hugely popular and highly active in the early seventies, the band didn't get a deal and had no releases until the highly acclaimed 'Wind Walker' edition of 2021 which sold out upon release. Includes extensive booklet with band history and photos. CD $19 SKU:25169
WAPASSOU-ST (70s French Prog) Label:LION Wapassou is one of those hard to classify prog group, not really on the rock side of prog, but it would be a shame not to include it, the same way Art Zoyd or Univers Zero are in the archives. Their music is a mix of classical with meditative (almost hippie) moments and spacey ethereal music. Their line-up is just about as unconventional as there is no drums and bass guitar, concentrating between violin, electric guitars and organs. Sounds intriguing? Well it is. CD $10 SKU:26179

Arequipa? yes, Arequipa, the second most populous city in Peru, up in the Andes mountains at an altitude of 2,380 meters (7,800 feet) above sea level; Arequipa, nicknamed La Ciudad Blanca (The White City), nestled beneath the snow-capped volcano El Misti. Arequipa. Get your Peruvian beat fix with groovy tracks from Los Incógnitos and Los Texao. Want some face-melting psychedelia instead? check out Los Texao’s ‘Stone’ or their fuzz-guitar laced instrumental ‘Swarlb’—both a musical style called "Niebla" (Fog), because of the effect produced by the band’s rotor amps and reverb and echo effects. (Los Texao were the first group in the province to record using FuzzTone effects, using powerful Dynacord amps imported from Germany). Prefer a more laid-back style? then you’ll love Free Love System. Looking for some heavy grooves? ‘La pelea del gobernador’ (Los Texao) or ‘Un paseo por el recuerdo’ (Free Love System) might do it for you. Sixteen-page booklet has mini-biographies of all five bands in Spanish and English; all tracks are from the master tapes, with the exception of Madera Fresca’s freak out ‘Any Time’—a classic at parties—and their acoustic version of ‘La lenta que apura,’ both rescued from the obscurity of a rare cassette. The first regional rock compilation from Peru's rich and mostly undiscovered musical history, but certainly not the last! COMP CD $10 SKU:20202

BURGHERS ORQUESTRA-ST (Dutch guitar pop thrashers)Label:DEWITYOURSELF Dutch guitar pop thrashers Burghers put out a handful of EPs and singles in the last couple years. This time the duo, consisting of Niels de Wit (ex-Johan, Electric Tears a.o.) and Simone Mansveld (ex-Bugs) has suddenly morphed into Burghers Orquestra, opening new dimensions. Their cute poppy faster louder approach has deepened, inspiration coming from countless different places. Their love for 1960s pop, psych and garage is still a driving force, but on this debut LP, simply called 'Burghers Orquestra,' the simple guitar-bass-drums setup is less dominant. Instead we go careening in all kinds of directions, thanks to a songbook coloured by kaleidoscopic pop-rock, enticing vocal harmonies, slightly psychotic organ playing, galloping movie music, intimate brushes, heavy pounding, disorienting dub, surprising and tasteful horns, vibrating guitars, mind-expanding surf and much more. The album was recorded at home, making sure the music sounds as intimate and in-your-face as ever. Comes on black vinyl (Erwin Hofman/Written In Music). LP $28 SKU:25515
CARPETTES - FIGHT AMONGST YOURSELVES (80s Stones infl) SAALE! Label:RADIATION RSD 2022 release. Neo-Mod act the Carpettes began as a Stones-influenced school band, formed in the small northeast Norman town of Houghton-le-Spring in the mid-1970s, the trio of frontman Neil Thompson, bassist George Maddison, and drummer Kevin Heard shifting to punk before signing to Small Wonder as a Mod revival act. By the time they joined the Beggar's Banquet roster in 1978, Heard was replaced by Tim Wilder (with Simon Smith of the Merton Parkas briefly in the fold). Sophomore album 'Fight Amongst Yourselves' is arguably their best, the appealing material ranging from the socially-relevant power-pop of the title track and the pop-punk of 'The Reason I'm Lonely' to the reggae cadences of 'The Last Lone Ranger'. LP $20 SKU:25091

The boys are big fans of ROLLING STONES, ALLMAN BROTHERS, NEIL YOUNG, TOM PETTY, CHEAP TRICK, HENDRIX as well as many more and each of those artists has influenced this LP. KARAKORUM - PRISON BITTERNESS (1969 studio demos, Keith Moon fave!) Label:SEELIE COURT The only surviving 1969 studio demos of this important underground band. Keith Moon raved about them, they were known for their live reputation. Karakorums sonic inner space inevitably conjures up images of heavy cannabis and marijuana usage. The band lock into darkly introverted grooves, with complex patterns, eastern influences, and left field lyricism and vocal, heavy guitar led tracks and the use of wah-wah. They were ultimately uncategorisable, poetic, and this album needs multiple plays to connect to. LP $30 SKU:25510

PLASTIC CRIMEWAVE SYNDICATE- Space Alley-Label:LION Plastic Crimewave Syndicate has finally returned with a wide-ranging/raging new album — recorded two years ago in an expansive, benevolent alleyway in the midst of a dark, diseased, claustrophobic time of global chaos. The new PCWS album, entitled "Space Alley," boldly travels into the relatively unexplored malevolent terrain of free doom, space/noise punk, and darkly dubbed-out library/soundtrack grooves (call it 70's crooked-cop show/freak-funk, if you must). This is all capped off with a sidelong, (beat of the) earth-harvesting modal exploration of synthed-out kraut-throb. With new bassist Rob Rodak (Dead Feathers) aboard, and guests like sax-skronk legend Taralie Peterson (Spires That in the Sunset Rise), flautist Sara Gossett (Spiral Galaxy), and synthlord Will MacLean (Protovulcan), new influences have seeped into PCWS's dystopian vision. The Syndicate have opened for revered deities like Nik Turner, Loop, Simply Saucer, Chrome, and Josefus; but now a more diverse and groovy array of past underground sounds like Skin Alley, Sound of Imker, Here and Now, Mann/Sharrock, Black Sun Ensemble, Parson Sound, and Schizo have influenced PCWS's journey. Recorded by Eric Block (Rhys Chatham, Sick Gazelle) of Rec Rooms studios, and mastered by Monster Magnet/Desert Sessions guitar god JP McBain, the mind-fry level is set to 11 on Space Alley!
