COYNE, KEVIN- Room Full of Fools (rare U.S. release) -Label:RUF Kevin Coyne is a strange one. As influenced by the rough-and-tumble sounds of Mississippi blues as by his job as a counselor to London drug addicts, he arrived in the '70s with a cawing birdcall voice and a collection of songs about madness, guilt, and despair. His signature tune was the chilling asylum classic 'House on the Hill', cut when the then unknown guitarist Andy Summers was in his employ. CD $10 SKU:24346

Dominique Blanc-Francard -Ailleurs-ST Label:LION Dominique Blanc-Francard’s “Ailleurs” is trippy and weird... and yet… the songs are catchy and the album rocks out. Fuzzy guitar, chunky drums, weird effects, a thick mix of layers of sound — all tasty ingredients. Pink Floyd meets T-Rex? It’s a terrific recipe, which surely must describe other albums? Even so, we can’t think of another album that sounds quite like “Ailleurs.” •Eight page insert booklet includes an interview of Dominique Blanc-Francard by Jean-Emmanuel Deluxe, in French and EnglishLP $24 SKU:24345
PLASTIC CLOUD -ST-Label:LION Plastic Cloud recorded, quite simply, one of the greatest psychedelic albums ever made. This is a record with few equals, full of foreboding melodies and lovely hippie harmonies, as well as some of the most superb and trippiest, Eastern sounding fuzz guitar ever recorded. There is no point singling out a specific track, they are all excellent -- one is equally as good as the next. Take for example the album centerpiece, the ten-and-a-half-minute 'You Don't Care,' an insane piece of social commentary that features terrific back-of-the-mix fuzz guitar as an elusive focal point to its extended pounding-drum laden instrumental breaks; with a great chorus and a plaintive melody in the verse, it doesn't overstay its welcome, winding its way to a final freak out. Essential psychedelia!" 180 gram vinyl; Comes with lyric insert and replica vintage press release. LP $24 SKU:24344

SEEDS -VAMPIRE/ BUTTERFLY CHILD (60s garage psych) Label:HYPNOTIC BRIDGE The Seeds remain amongst the most beloved and iconographic of the original 1960s garage-psych avatars. To many, their edgy dissonant sounds and relentless fuzz-fuelled drive, tinged with flights of psychedelic fancy, makes The Seeds the quintessential exponent of the genre, as heard on such classics-for-the-ages as “Pushin’ Too Hard,” “Can’t Seem To Make You Mine” and “Mr Farmer.” 45 RPM $10 SKU:24292
FAHEY, JOHN- On The Sunny Side Of The Ocean DBL CD-Label:BROOK Slim-line jewel case, w/slipcases Simply put, this compilation is a different and much cheaper version of The Best of John Fahey, 1959-1977. The tracks are in different order, but the contents are the same. These 15 tracks are taken from just a few Fahey albums on Takoma -- Death Chants, Breakdowns and Military Waltzes, The Legend of Blind Joe Death, The Dance of Death & Other Plantation Favorites, and Leo Kottke, John Fahey & Peter Lang -- though he recorded more than a dozen. He selected them himself for the original LP, though at least one -- "Dance of the Inhabitants of the Palace of King Philip XIV of Spain" -- was recut specifically for this collection. The CD includes a liner essay by Chris White.” —AllMusic CD $10 SKU:24305
FREAK SCENE - Psychedelic Psoul ( 60s raga rock ) SALE- Label:LION Fresh from his studio experiences with The Deep and the Third Bardo, Rusty Evans decided to create a psychedelic “happening” which would also function as a recording group. He gathered together a few New York musicians, including three members of the Deep (David Bromberg among them), dubbed them the Freak Scene, and began work on the “Psychedelic Psoul” album, which was released in 1967. The intention was to pursue the Indian-Eastern influence in rock—and this raga rock idea is used to great effect on songs like ‘Grok’ and ‘Rose of Smiling Faces’ (sounds like it could have been the sole inspiration for Damon’s “Song of a Gypsy” album). As the only true psychedelic band on Columbia at the time, the Freak Scene got decent exposure. No doubt this number would have been much greater had the band been a touring ensemble, instead of a one-time psychedelic event. The album is gritty, tense, subversive, brittle, and yes, psychedelic. Perfect in its own way. Included as bonus tracks are nine demos from the summer of 1966, some of which would end up in quite a different musical context on The Deep “Psychedelic Moods” and Freak Scene albums. These songs, with their P. F. Sloan/Dylan (or even Sixto Rodriguez) vibe deepen the legacy of edgy, insightful songs from Rusty Evans/Marcus Uzilevsky. Comes with a 16-page booklet which includes a biographical portrait of Marcus, printed on FSC recycled, chlorine-free, 100% post-consumer fiber paper manufactured using biogas energy. CD $10 SKU:11550
FUNKADELIC -One Nation Under A Groove (stone-cold 1978 classic!)-Label:CHARLY Here are some accolades for this classic from well-known sources: Rolling Stone: Ranked #177 in Rolling Stone's "The 500 Greatest Albums Of All Time” 5 stars out of 5 - "...the stone-cold 1978 classic…”; Entertainment Weekly "...a glorious distillation of Funkadelic founder George Clinton's concepts of verbal anarchy and tight funk grooves....Framed by the irresistible title song (as catchy as anthems get)...NATION is a deep source of riffs and ideas for '90s rock and rap….”; Vibe Included in Vibe's 100 Essential Albums of the 20th Century; Melody Maker "...[a] very fine entry point for the uninitiated....it remains the apogee of Funkadelic's formula…”; Mojo "...The music was as straightforward as P-Funk ever got, a mix of disco funk and lyrical positivity…" (2019 Reissue) CD $15 SKU:24306
GONG -Opium For The People (electric cheese!)DBL CD slipcase -Label:ATOM slim-line jewel case, w/slipcases Thirty-one tracks originally recorded for the BYG-Actuel label and released on the following albums: “Magick Brother, Mystic Sister” (1970), “Banana Moon” and “Camembert Electrique” (1971). Leaning a little toward the pop end of the spectrum, “Magick Brother” is a fairly light album. Gilli Smyth's "space whispering" makes its debut on the opening track, though the album is not as spacy as it is ethereal. Daevid Allen's guitar sound is muted throughout this project, dynamics taking a back seat in most of these recordings. He relies on distortion and various guitar augmentations, all of which works quite well in the context of the collective sound. As for “Camembert Electrique,” well, it’s the epitome of the band's early Daevid Allen phase with Ph.P.'s (pothead pixies) in full, blazing glory. The band's eclectic "electric cheese" rock is a mixture of psychedelic rock, spacy atmospherics and lyrics, and doses of jazz often presented with a pop sensibility, yet always intense. From the first cut on “Camembert Electrique,” you are transported to planet Gong via the voice of a "radio gnome.” Daevid Allen leads the band through several compositions musically (not lyrically) reminiscent of, and possibly influenced by, early King Crimson—a hard, raw-edged sound propelled by a strong guitar-sax-percussion combo. Drummer Pip Pyle played on only a few Gong sessions; he is a major figure here, as is saxophonist Didier Malherbe. Both are up front on the wailing progressive rocker ‘You Can't Kill Me,’ which also features guitarist Allen in top form. Allen's declarative ‘I've Bin Stone Before,’ the first part of an inventive three-song medley, is of particular interest; introductory church organ and avant-garde sax make this the quintessential Gong experience. Suffice to say, the tracks from “Banana Moon” are also quite weird, and a great deal of fun. CD $10 SKU:24307
GROWING CONCERN, THE- ST (6os West Coast psych pop) SAALE!- Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA "Although virtually nothing is known of Growing Concern, their only album (Mainstream, 1969) is an enjoyable piece of West Coast psychedelic pop” CD $10 SKU:23378

MAGMA-Uber Kommandoh (French prog rock) DBL CD Label:ATOM slim-line jewel case, w/slipcases 2-cd set contains the Üdü Wüdü and Attahk albums in their entirety as well as a live track from 1988. Led by classically-trained drummer Christian Vander, the Paris-based Magma was, in their way, perhaps the ultimate progressive-rock group; while other artists achieved greater commercial success and critical acclaim, Magma typified the many ambitions and excesses of the genre which won it as many detractors as fans, even going so far as to invent their own lyrical and musical language in order to bring their unique vision to life. The son of a jazz pianist, Vander initially followed in his father's footsteps, modeling his technique on the work of John Coltrane alum Elvin Jones and starting his career with a number of jazz and R&B outfits. While in Paris in 1969, however, he was struck by a vision of earth's spiritual and ecological future which so disturbed him that he decided to explore his fears by musical means, assembling Magma with the aid of wife and vocalist Stella, singer Klaus Blasquiz, and fusion bassists Francis Moze and Jannick Top. This fourteen track 2xCD set contains the entirety of “Udu Wudu” (their seventh album, originally released in 1976), and “Attahk” (their eighth album, originally released in 1977), as well as an eighteen-minute track recorded at The Taverne De L'Olypia in Paris in June 1975. CD $10 SKU:24308
MINERS OF MUZO-REALLY.. IS THAT A FACT? (DUTCH 60s inspired garage psych)--Label:DOWN AT THE NIGHTCLUB The official release of 'Really.... Is That A Fact?' on Down At The Nightclub Records. A few copies of this CD were previously released in 2013 by the band as a promo CD. The CD features Lee (vocals and guitars), GJ (drums), Marc (bass), Wannes (guitars), Corn Biekens (lead guitar on #4) and The Salsa Kid (Trumpets on #4, #9 and #12). The CD contains an eight page lyrics booklet. On offer are 13 sparkling guitar songs, sometimes stomping fierce, fuzzing and rocking the garage way, sometimes melodic, or even melancholic, but always with conviction and persuasion and depth. You can hear the influences from the past, you can hear some '60s twang or some '70s hook, but it is definitely a contemporary sound. The Miners are diggin' deep once more. The title refers to an old J.R. Ewing (Dallas) quote. CD $14 SKU:19410
MINERS OF MUZO-LOVE & LIFE PART 2: DIGGIN' THE FUTURE (2CDR) AUTOGRAPHED DBL CD HANDMADE BOX SET-Label:DOWN AT THE NIGHTCLUB This DOUBLE-CD boxset, featuring 23 previously unreleased songs from the years 1999-2010, is dedicated to the loving memory of Gert Jan Smits (r.i.p. 2013), a skilful engineer, a great drummer and a fine man. CD $15 SKU:19411
NATIONAL HEALTH- Dreams Wide Awake (1975 prog rock)DBL CD Label:ATOM slim-line jewel case, w/slipcases National Health was one of the last of the great Canterbury progressive rock bands, containing a heady and unique mixture of rock, jazz and classical music. The band was formed in the fall of 1975 by keyboardists Alan Gowen (ex-Gilgamesh) and Dave Stewart (ex-Hatfield & The North), who wanted to create a large "rock orchestra" by combining personnel from their previous bands. I think any listener would find it hard to deny that the first two National Health albums ("National Health" and "Of Queues and Cures", from 1977 and 1978, respectively) contained most of their very best stuff. "Dreams Wide Awake" is a two-disc compilation which contains all of the music from those first two classic albums (albeit not in the same running order, something which iTunes and a couple of blank cdr’s can easily fix). For a newcomer to this music, the 95 minutes of total music on "Dreams Wide Awake" is a great introduction to this band's unique sound, with their complex structures and compositions, numerous key modulations and time changes, continuously developing themes, and intricate, innovative sounds and melodies. CD $10 SKU:24310
NURT - COMPLETE RADIO SESSIONS 1972/1974 (first Polish heavy rock band )Label:KAMELEON The two opening tracks are great stuff, especially the second. It's heavy and raw bluesy, progressive rock. The fourth track, Syn strachu, reminds med of Deep Purple bar the organ but holds a surprising trumpet solo, performed in a sort of primitive Miles Davis fashion. Interesting track, which leaves the Purple territory and heads into some sort of ballad and back to the jazzy menace of Davis vs. Purple. Morze ognia is more hardrock, Holograficzne Widmo is progressive and Gato is simply raucious but great.

PRINCIPAL EDWARDS- Round One (60s uk weirdness)Label:ESOTERIC The band managed to amass an impressive series of live appearances opening for such luminary acts as PINK FLOYD, ELTON JOHN, JOHN & YOKO ONO, VAN DER GRAF GENERATOR, CARAVAN, FLEETWOOD MAC, YES, KING CRIMSON, LED ZEPPELIN, EGG, THE WHO, DAVID BOWIE, MANFRED MANN, DEEP PURPLE, and THE STRAWBS among many others.Originally released on Decca's Progressive imprint Deram in 1974, “Round One” (produced by Pink Floyd member Nick Mason) was the band's only album for the company. Originally formed in 1968 at Exeter University, the band was first known as Principal Edwards Magic Theatre and was a "loosely based musical and theatrical co-operative". PEMT were, at their height, a 14-piece group who delved into costumes and theatrics during their surreal shows. They released two albums (Soundtrack (1969) and The Asmoto Running Band(1971)) on John Peel’s Dandelion label before folding. After this, however, a subset of the group decided to continue as a tighter, more compact unit, with a fittingly more compact title: Principal Edwards. This Esoteric Recordings reissue has been remastered from the original Deram master tapes and includes three rare bonus tracks. Digitally remastered and expanded edition — the album’s first ever official UK CD release. CD $12 SKU:24311
PROTOTIPES - WE ARE BACK (90s Spanish power pop) SAALE! -Label:NO TOMORROW LAST COPIES.The album debut by a band formed by ex-members of Spanish punk rock legends of the '90s SHOCK TREATMENT and DEPRESSING CLAIM. A superb collection of sing-along power-pop, bittersweet midtempo melodic-punk and some killer blasts of mean punk'n'roll thrown in for good measure. A must for fans of the Spanish punk pop sound of the '90s and for anyone interested in classy punk rock. CD $8 SKU:19898
SAN UL LIM THE FIRST CD (1977 psych power pop garage)Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) Gentle garage psych with a dreamy west coast flair and tons of awesome fuzzed out guitars with lyrics in Korean language. It clearly sounds like the best psychedelic power pop and garage stuff you could get in the UK and USA ten years earlier, a typical 1966 garage sound with fuzzy axes and some thin but sympathetic Farfisa organs. They released this debut album back in 1977 while the compositions actually have been conceived from 1971 to 1975. They heavily remind of The Zombies. Even though San Ul Lim play in a way more direct fashion, they do have these heartwarming vocal melodies and are all in all gifted players. Other acts we could take as references are The Flies (UK, Pre-T2) or The Petards (Germany). A lovely flashback to the golden age of music.. CD $10 SKU:16721

SOFT MACHINE -Shooting At The Moon (1967) DBL CD- Label:BROOK slim-line jewel case, w/slipcases Recorded in April '67, this collection of demos is interesting because we get to hear what they would've sounded like with guitar. It's played here by Daevid Allen, who left before their first album to form Gong. "The Soft Machine" (1968) contained no guitar, and the band went without it until 1975. These early tracks differ from what fans came to know and love in two major ways. For one, the emphasis is tilted toward rock at this point in their development. It's incredible how much jazzier they became as a drum, bass, and keyboard trio without guitar. Then again, Soft Machine were always enamored of avant-jazzers like Cecil Taylor and Sun Ra - as opposed to the blues-inspired Cream (to name another trio). The songs are pretty rough and ready, as you'd expect, save for Robert Wyatt's always-excellent drumming. Being a big fan of the first Soft Machine album, I was really interested to hear the early versions of the Vol. I songs, plus the ones that never made it to record. The songs here on Jet-Propelled Photographs have more of a traditional pop sensibility than anything else the Softs recorded, but they're super lo-fi, and the tracks that made it to Vol. I in reworked form do sound better on that album. Of the non-album tracks, the highlights for me are "She's Gone", "I'd Rather Be With You", and Ayers' "Jet-Propelled Photograph", which later turned up on Shooting at the Moon. CD $10 SKU:24314
SORROWS - OLD SONGS NEW SONGS (1966 British freakbeat/garage R&B giants rarity) DBL Label:WOODEN HILL British freakbeat/garage R&B giants the Sorrows relocated to Italy in 1966, recording the album Old Songs New Songs a couple of years later for a small independent label based in Milan. Now extremely rare as an original pressing. This new, band-approved reissue features the fully restored album in sparkling sound quality and adds an extra 100 minutes of music, nearly all of which is previously unreleased. Among the highlights are the magnificent heavy psychedelia of the bands aborted early 1968 Pye single Which Way/My Way Of Thinking, the theme song to the cult Italian spy caper Ypotron, a couple of movie collaborations with soundtrack maestro Ennio Morricone, and even an entire late 1968 demo album that, following the departure of two group members, was eventually scrapped and replaced by Old Songs New Songs! Completed by a previously unheard live gig from 1980 that proved the Sorrows savage garage band instincts were fully intact a decade later, this package features new, extremely detailed sleevenotes concerning their time in Italy, with fresh band quotes and some superb, previously unpublished photos. Forget what you may have read and heard elsewhere, this incredible 2CD package is the final word on the bands lengthy but previously little-documented Italian sojourn! CD $19 SKU:10207
TEEN TRASH VOL.10- Falling Spikes (60s style garage)-Label:MUSIC MANIA The FALLING SPIKES have been making great music in the Northwest corner of the United States since 1985. UMBRA - ST(Brown ACid 70s heavy)Label:LION Umbra’s story is that of a band from the early 1970’s who recorded what they wanted to record: heavy, heavy music from the start of the “American Comedown Era” as we’ve seen it described by our friends for their “Brown Acid” series; a band whose music, terrific though it is, has never to this point been released out into the wide world. The tracks are hard-edged and heavy, verging on acid rock at times. Makes sense, as Umbra was a power trio most of their too-brief existence. Yet the songs (heavy though they are) have a deft touch. Spacey intros and weird effects were created by recording guitar licks, then re-recording them played backwards at double speed. There is an utterly refreshing category-free approach to writing songs that makes Umbra’s music exciting to hear. Comes with a 16-page booklet, with lyrics, photos, plus interesting and funny things that can only happen to musicians, and did to Umbra. CD $14 SKU:21740

DOWN IN THE VALLEYVol 3-A heavy dose of Garage Rock & Psych-Funk tracks-SAALE!Label:PERFECT TOY A heavy dose of Garage Rock & Psych-Funk tracks" runs the sub-title of the compilation series 'Down In The Valley' from Perfect Toy, encapsulating in a nutshell the multifarious pleasures on offer. The Perfect Toy label continues its righteous quest to unearth the finest rare sounds from way out with Volumes 3 and 4 of its Down In The Valley series and in doing so delivers what is most certainly “A heavy dose of garage rock & psych-funk.”
Vol. 3 opens with a characteristically inspiring cut - Sand's cover of Down By The River - one of the best (and certainly one of the most obscure) versions of the Neil Young classic. This is followed by two fine examples of garage rock with a funky twist - Pegasus' Honeysuckle Willow Pride and Enalpria's Sliding, in the slipstream of which follows Heart and Soul's raw psych cut Afterthought. Also featured on this volume are two tributes to Jimi Hendrix that the big man himself would be proud to hear - The Fabulous Troubadores' version of Hey Joe (here literally entitled Tribute To Jimi Hendrix) as well as a psych-soul cover of Stone Free by the The Good Earth. Side B kicks off with Lifeless, the farewell 45 from La Crosse, Wisconsin outfit Today's Tomorrow and also includes two cuts occupying the nexus of garage and psych-funk from Milk & Cookies and Sound Inc., along with the Del Counts's fierce organ-led funk instrumental Who Cares and a very special contribution from GIN whose Louisville Luck is one of two previously unreleased tracks.
Deepest respect goes out once again to crate-digging supremo, Chan The Man, the curator of these two brand-new volumes in the Down In The Valley series. His ambition to search for the impossible and get his hands on private pressings that no one except the freakiest vinyl nerds knew existed has set the path to the release of these two discs. Accompanied by detailed liner notes and never-before-seen photos of the artists, Down In The Valley 3&4 continue the same attention to quality and detail set by their predecessors. BISCUIT -TIME FOR ANSWERS (60s style psych freakbeat) -SAALE! Label:NO TOMORROW Biscuit is one of those (rare) bands than take their inspiration mainly from 60s sounds (beat, garage, psychedelia, freakbeat, hard-rock, folk-rock, soul, rocknroll) but do not sound like just another 60s band. Their sound is uniquely their own, and trying to compare them to another band is so silly that lazy reviewers come out with comparisons as diverse as Urge Overkill, Soundtracks of Our Lives, the Byrds or The Prisoners in the same line. Which of course are all wrong. What is sure right is that these guys have a good thing going when it comes to combine meaty, solid guitar riffs with beautiful melodies. They know the secret of how to make well-crafted, passionate songs, the kind that grow with every listen. They can rock as fuck one minute and melt your heart the next. You can feel the anger, rage and desperation in their songs, but also the gratefulness, love and tenderness. You can feel the people behind the music. In a phrase, they've got soul. In my book, a truely classic record". LP $14 SKU:19899

OZ KNOZZ -Ruff Mix( US 70s private press hard rock/prog)Label:OZONE First legit reissue of one of the best US private press hard rock/progressive rock albums of the 1970s. Formed in 1969 in Houston, TX, Oz Knozz's original crew included multi-instrumentalists Jack Alford, Bill Massey and Duane Massey. Alford left the group in 1971 and was replaced by drummer Marty Naul, while the next year the trio was joined by guitarist Richard Heath. The band had also a three-man horn section, which was dropped quite fast, although horns remained a part of the band's sound, even on their rare and epochal 1975 private press debut ''Ruff Mix,” released on the band’s own Ozone label.“Ruff Mix” mainly grooves in Hard Rock territory—the second track 'Peanut Butter Yoni' sounds a bit like Judas Priest with a proto-Metal feeling; but the album also has elements of Progressive Rock, Horn Rock and Pomp Rock. Like most bands of the era, the idea was to throw out a few different styles to see if something would stick… the theory being that a major label would hear the private album by chance and sign said band so they could open for Led Zeppelin or Foghat's next US tour… or something like that. What separates Oz Knozz from others is a strong compositional component, the band have plenty of original ideas and muster superb instrumentation. The guitar work ranges from hard and powerful to melodic and bluesy and is supported by some great keyboard, including awe-inspiring organ and synth waves. The three-part 15-minute 'Doodley Squat’ suite features heavy dual keyboard parts, crunchy guitars and expressive vocals; the result is a terrific Hard Prog track with lot of energy. For many, the standout track is the groovy and infectious horn rocker, which sounds as dated as the movement itself and easily could have been from 1969. High energy and impressive songwriting LP $22 SKU:21411
PLASTIC CRIMEWAVE SYNDICATE -Massacre of the Celestials (deep psych)Label:GALACTIVE ARCHIVE (USA) ‘Massacre Of The Celestials’ is presented in a 350 gram Gloss Laminated Sleeve and comes with a download code. 300 Pressing Worldwide. Steven Krakow (aka Plastic Crimewave) is a dark sonic visionary whose every output is infused of the deepest psychedelic music (or just plain old music) out there. With Plastic Crimewave Syndicate you are treated to a howling, menacing, throbbing freak-out sthat is never for the faint hearted. Aided by skronkin' sax goddess Taralie Peterson (aka Louise Bock/Tar Pet) of avant musical coven Spires that in the Sunset Rise, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate go into uncharted realms on their 4th new epic album, "Massacre of the Celestials." Recorded over the course of a tu- multuous year on this small planet, a concept emerged of a story we all know and love-- the rise and fall of humanity, and then the post-apocalyptic rebirth of a new furtherly- dystopian mutated world. PCWSyndicate didn't discriminate with the freaky sonic tools needed to craft this molten behemoth of a LP, utilizing: damaged waves of No Waves, free-festival rave-ups that punters will knock down fences to pogo to, monochord Doom ruminations...and could that be groovy post-post-punkin' Funakdelica? These cosmic cats also go to the roots of all: The Blooz--elemental, drugged, n grungey--and like JAZZ, MAN! (free, not expensive, for thee people). Plastic Crimewave (bellows/guiterror), Kosmik Jru (bass rumble), and Jose "The Beast" Bernal (kit smash), keep the freaks a-rollin and a- tumblin on an LP destined to score the end of this feeble Earthen sphere. SILVER THUNDERS-ME GRITAN MELENUDO (1968 Spanish garage)Label:MUNSTER The Silver Thunders was one of the best bands to emerge from Bogota's lively beat and garage-rock scene during the second half of the '60s. Until now that is! Dating back to 1968, 'Me Gritan Melenudo' contains a raw and wild mixture of Mersey beat, garage rock and surf influences. The tracklist includes originals as well as cool cover versions of songs known from The Beatles, The Monkees, The Troggs, Lovin' Spoonful, Miriam Makeba and The Ventures.
