Self-professed devotees of the work of Tim Smith and Cardiacs, that inherited DNA is still in strong evidence throughout 'Bursting', but as a whole the album seems to be striking out in a myriad of other directions. ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style) Label:BREAKAWAY The Abstracts from Long Island, N.Y. are best known for their classic song 'Always Always'. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the bands entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. They were the first band signed by Beatles producer George Martin after he left EMI to set up his own company AIR Productions. In due course, he produced the band's five singles issued on Parlophone between 1965 and 1967 as well as tracks intended for a never-released album. 'Shadows And Reflections' is far and away the most comprehensive tribute to The Action so far assembled, boasting all their known recordings in the studio and live on radio/TV. Many of the original Parlophone single mixes have never been reissued in their original form on compact disc - until now. The fresh discovery of multi-tracks and rehearsal tapes has led to a whole disc's worth of previously unheard mixes and performances. ST. S.T. Mikael spearheaded the DIY psychedelic rock/folk movement of the late 1980s-mid-90s, with a collection of albums that now fetches up and over $1000 on Ebay. During his long absence S.T. Mikael grew more secretive and reclusive, but all the while he was still writing music. Now that hes finally back heres at last a chance for the world to join in to his psychedelic world again. The music, stretching out in many different musical directions, has been done freely and spontaneously in an extremely relaxed and happy environment, where Mikael joined forces with Dungens Reine Fiske and Fredrik Bjorling whos musical expertise now also grace the grooves. This album makes your brain start thinking in those pebble splash pond mind circular expanding waveforms that people on this vibe await the returning ship their roots sent out to bring back the password to tomorrow. In 1967, The Bitter Seeds recorded their only 45, issued under The Rock Shop moniker, as they wanted to avoid confusion with The Seeds. 'State Of Your Mind' b/w 'Is That Your Halo' was released on the Rowena label and is a brutal garage-psych double sider. The following year the group recorded four studio tracks which have remained unreleased until now. These are perfect examples of the transition from R&B-garage to early psychedelia. SCAMPOLO- UNDER THE RAINBOW (1968 Hungarian rock/and roll rarity ) GATEFOLD SAALE! Label:MOIRAS Limited edition of 330 copies, housed in a nice gatefold sleeve! It's a twist of fate that it took the first rock'n'roll band that reached star status in Hungary 48 years to release their first album. At the beginning of the 1960s the band was the most popular among the few Hungarian rock'n'roll groups, their shows' atmosphere was often quite heated. The band existed until the early '80s except for some short pauses and with a few changes in the lineup. The first Scampolo album represents the period between 1968 and 1970 when they left their rock'n'roll roots behind and played a repertoire that was unique in Hungary. It consisted partly of British and American progressive rock and soul hits, partly of their own compositions. These were collected from studio, rehearsal and concert recordings. LP $19 SKU:24235

THUNDERTREE-ST (70s Mpls killer fuzzed out garage) SAALE!Label:GUERSSEN Coming from the same Minneapolis '60s scene which spawned bands like The Litter, Thundertree evolved from garage band The Good Idea. In 1970 they released their sole album for the Roulette label: a perfect example of the transition from psychedelia to hard-rock and early progressive sounds. Killer fuzzed out guitar, organ, powerful vocals. Including hard-psych classics like 'In The Morning" or 'Room At The Top Of The Stairs' along with the monstruous 17 minute long '2025' suite. For this, the first ever legit vinyl reissue of Thundertree, the label included two previously unreleased tracks: 'Pepper Palace' (a great psychedelic number) plus a storming cover of 'Sixteen Tons', which was the signature song on Thundertree's live shows. Both tracks were recorded at UA Studios, Minneapolis, in 1970. WELDERS- OUR OWN ODDITIES 1977-81 (all-female punk pop )Label:BACHELOR The Welders were an all-female punk pop band from St. Louis, MO. Formed by four young, teenage women in 1975; they started playing shows in 1976, in one of the toughest climates to get booked for bands playing original material. The Welders bonded over their love of The Monkees, The Beatles and early glam rock. The comedy of the National Lampoon Radio Hour and the Marx Brothers were just as big of an influence. The Welders played several shows in the St. Louis metro area and eventually caught the attention of a local photographer and newspaper owner. He financed a recording session in 1979, with plans to release a four song EP. The newspaper folded before the release could happen, and all that survived was a cassette copy of the recordings. The Welders continued for a couple more years after recording the EP. They had brief line up changes, and added an organ which shifted their sound more towards a '60s garage pop sound. They were ahead of their time again, pre-dating most of the neo-garage explosion of the '80s. By 1981, the band had moved on to other interests. In 2010 BDR Records (a sub-label of Rerun, designated for St. Louis area artists) issued that previously unreleased EP. The EP was well received worldwide and has been sold out for several years. This collection includes a newly remastered and improved version of the 1979 EP tracks, along with other studio, rehearsal and live recordings.
