Some sides in this box have been compiled previously, legally and illegally on various artists long players & CD, but many of the sides are seeing their first issue in any format since their original release. GTO'S -PERMANENT DAMAGE LTd ed of 500 -Label:STRAIGHT Limited to 500 copies in gatefold sleeve. IMPORT The GTO's began as a collection of wildly outrageous girls who frequented the Sunset Strip in LA and hung out with the bands and groups who performed in that area during the late 1960s, such as Carl Franzoni & the Log Cabin commune, the Magic Band and Mothers Of Invention. They effectively coined the phrase 'groupies' and initially became the Cherry Sisters, then became a spontaneous performance-art collective known as the Laurel Canyon Ballet Company, which was an opening act for gigs led by Frank Zappa. Two members, Miss Frka and Miss Pamela, were also babysitters in the Zappa household. In 1969 Zappa collected this group together, producing them as one of his side projects, as the GTO's (an acronym for Girls Together Outrageously). 'Permanent Damage' consequently featured a number of renowned musicians who happened to be around the LA 'freak scene' during these psychedelic and experimental music times. The group also crossed paths with the notorious Plaster Casters Of Chicago, who became the subject upon two of their album tracks. LP $25 SKU:16617
HAIRY CHAPTER- Cant Get Through (70s bluesy hard-rock)-Label:BACILLUS Edition on 180-gram blue vinyl. (Tracks of that LP were previously issued in 1969 on an LP released by 'Billiglabel' Maritim, which was credited to the non-existing Chaparall Electric Sound Inc.). 'Can't Get Through' was the band's second album (released by Bacillus Records), which the band (in a slightly different line-up) recorded with renowned engineer and producer Dieter Dierks. Dierks added strong psychedelic rock elements to the group's bluesy hard-rock, with truly breathtaking results. LP $29 SKU:16611

Really!!!An LP of great 1965 recordings from SF legends (by word of mouth) THE KNIGHT RIDERS (who'd later be responsible for an acetate album under the Jungle moniker), combining British invasion energy with west-coast folk-rock harmonies. The band put these nine track to tape for Autumn Records (Beau Brummels, early Grateful Dead, Great Society), but unfortunately the label never took care of a proper release. But now you can get these tunes afterall! On offer are eight superbly infectious group originals and a killer version of Dylan's 'Don't Think Twice, It's All Right' that has the same class as The Byrds' 'Mr. Tambourine Man'. LP $24 SKU:17122
AND A BUNCH MORE STUFF FROM OUR PALS AT DIONYSUS JUST IN!
CREEPY CREEPS - Fink About It ( 60s style SURF garage ) - Label:DIONYSUS Creepy Creeps know that when it comes to surf rock, it’s no longer enough that you should simply play a guitar. These days, it’s about how weird you can make your guitar sound while remaining inside the boundaries defined by surf and outside of the boundaries defined by the blues-rock guitar pyrotechnics that ultimately pulverized surf rock into oblivion by the mid to late ’60s. The Creepy Creeps’ guitar warbles and chirps and resonates with pure punk static. The drums are solid firecrackers, and the keyboards are vintage and electronic. It is a wonderful sound, both authentic and novel. But the Creeps are revisionists, not pragmatists. They’ve managed to fire up the music with a boatload of their own ideas, not to mention living by a set of their own Rules to Rock. Adorned in Creepy Creeps chic (mariachi outfits, caveman drag, or spacesuits), the band plays an intoxicating concoction of surf mayhem and garage madness! The drunker you get the better they sound, and inebriation is all you can do to keep your bones from dancing right out of your skin. The Creepy Creeps home base is in San Diego and they have been playing the local surf and garage circuit for a number of years now (including a magnificent set in front of hundreds at Tiki Oasis 2008) and self-releasing their efforts. “Fink About It,” The Creepy Creeps first full-length LP for Dionysus Records, is a supercharged masterpiece. This pounding slab of '60s insanity finally gives justice to one of the toughest sounding garage bands to come out of Los Angeles.
