NEW ARRIVALS
6 FEET UNDER - In Retrospect (NEW JERSEY counterculture 70s psych)-Label:ARF ARF Very nice collection of counterculture psych from obscure New Jersey psychedelic band 6 Feet Under: “Like the Jefferson Airplane, Neighb’rhood Children and United States of America, Six Feet Under was blessed with a dynamic diva who soared amidst searing fuzz leads, swirling organ chords, and gifted songwriting with prophetic lyrics.” They released a couple of flop 1970 singles on Scepter before disbanding. Influenced by the Doors, Iron Butterfly and Jefferson Airplane, they favored gloomy minor melodies and naively earnest songs reflecting the state of social unrest and psychedelic exploration in the counterculture circa 1969-70. This reissue includes previously unreleased material that approximates what their debut album might have sounded like, along with some unissued home, live and rehearsal recordings. Prior to recording for Scepter, their drummer, Tico Torres, had been replaced on the grounds that he wasn't good enough; he became the only member of 6 Feet Under to make it in the music business, as part of Bon Jovi CD $12 SKU:19626
APHRODITE'S CHILD - It’s Five O Clock (1969 pop psych)Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) The first single, ‘Let Me Love, Let Me Live,’ released in October 1969, made it to a number one position in the French charts, but it was the B-side ‘Marie Jolie’ that was most popular in the rest of Europe. The title track ‘It's Five O'clock’ quickly followed the same path; released in December 1969, it did well in the charts of many European countries. Dream-like, baroque, carefully crafted pop/psych with English lyrics, in some ways very much in the style of English bands of the era, but with that little twist that makes it very special; three bonus tracks include rare singles; lyrics and photos too in the 16-page booklet. CD $10 SKU:18951
BLUE THINGS - Let The Blues Things Blow your Mind W BOOKLET liners, photos (dbl cd 60s garage psych) Label:CICADELIC Amazing retrospective by beloved 60's Garage band! 65 tracks including early recordings by Blueboys plus all recorded output, live and demos by Bluethings. Alsio includes great booklet with in-depth liner notes, photos and very detailed info. Ltd. DBL CD $15 SKU:19791
DEEP - PSYCHEDELIC MOODS OF..(rare 66 acid drench psych)Label:CICADELIC Reissue of the incredibly rare stereo version of the most fascinating and sought after psychedelic album of all time. A 1966 studio project from Rusty Evans, also responsible for THE FREAK SCENE amongst others. Filled with strange music, weird sound effects, haunting vocals and acid drenched lyrics. GW PICK IMPORT CD $14 SKU:19759
FALLEN ANGELS-The Great Society Sucks: Halloween 1968 ONE ONLY Label:CICADELIC We're not evil, but we do evil things. Anything to blow society's mind. When we play, we take people's brains out and then put them back in. A dry-cleaning job,' said the Fallen Angels lead singer and songwriter, Jack Bryan, in an interview with the short-lived Dapper Magazine in 1968. Since that time there has never been a live performance from the 60s of the Fallen Angels released. This album seeks to rectify that situation and is a time capsule of that turbulent year. Since Washington DC was the home for the Fallen Angels, the band did not miss out on radicalizing the 1968 presidential elections by letting their disparaging views on the LBJ and his 'Great Society' be aired. Amidst all the politics is a great live performance by the Fallen Angels, combining original songs from their two psychedelic albums ('No Way Out' and 'Poor Old Man') with a previously unreleased song ('Everything Would Be Fine'), along with covers of Dylan (done acid-rock style), Donovan (raga-rock style), and Love (the highlight of the show, 'Signed DC' is a nine minute tour de force interrupted by a fist fight in the audience. The Fallen Angels broke up a year later in 1969, but not before blowing many a mind on the east coast during their glorious reign in Washington DC. CD $15 SKU:19760
HUMAN EXPRESSION- Love At Psychedelic Velocity ( 60s psych ) - Label:CICADELIC "In 1966, four high school students from the Los Angeles suburbs formed The Human Expression, and by January 1967, their first single, 'Love At Psychedelic Velocity' b/w 'Every Night', was released to an unsuspecting public. It was a dazzling, driving, opus of mind-bending sounds, and a harbinger of things to come. Their second single, 'Optical Sound' b/w 'Calm Me Down', released in the 'Summer Of Love', was a two-sided tour de force, with brooding introspective lyrics by lead singer, Jim Quarles. The Human Expression's edgy bad boy image was the antithesis of the 'flower-children' image so prevalent for groups in 1967. The Human Expression's third single was 'Sweet Child Of Nothingness', written by Mars Bonfire, who offered the band another new song, 'Born To Be Wild.' Quarles thought the lyrics trite, and since he was the lead singer, the band rejected the song, even before Steppenwolf recorded it. Nevertheless, the three singles The Human Expression released during their short-lived career, would burnish their reputation as one of the finest garage bands to emerge from the mid-60s Los Angeles music scene. Compiled on this CD are all the surviving demos and tapes of The Human Expression, along with rare band memorabilia, and demos by Quarles from 1965 (recorded just before The Human Expression)." CD $14 SKU:11740
JUJUS- You Treat Me Bad 65-67(60s garage psych PEbbles style) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Since their arrival on the music scene in 1965, the mystique of The JuJus and their lead singer, Ray Hummel, has continued to grow over the ensuing decades (helped along by the inclusion of 'You Treat Me Bad' on the first volume of Pebbles in 1979). Their first single 'You Treat Me Bad' rose to the number two position on the top 40 and catapulted the band to regional fame in Michigan. The JuJus initially blended an impressive brand of folk-rock and British-invasion sounds with a raw garage band sound. In 1967 they opted for a more psychedelic sound. Compiled on this CD are all the JuJu singles, as well as a plethora of unreleased gems from 1965 to 1967. A detailed booklet contains photos, radio surveys, band memorabilia, and a retrospective of The JuJus as related by band member Rod Shepard. The front cover photo of The JuJus features Ray Hummel, Max Colley, Bill Gorski and Rod Shepard. Also pictured are the JuJus at Kent Country Airport during the heigh of JuJu-mania, ready to take on the world in 1965." CD $14 SKU:9709
LEMON DROPS -Sunshower Flower Power Midwest Psych)-Label:CICADELIC RECORDS Some of the best droning, fuzz-guitar laced heavy psych of the late 1960’s that’s what we heard when we played the first disc of this terrific double-disc set, compiled and assembled over the course of two years from master tapes. On the other hand, the label says: "The Lemon Drops were pioneers of a psychedelic flower-power sound in and around the Chicago suburbs in 1967. The mastermind behind their music was Rembrandt Records' owner, Reggie Weiss. The first song he wrote for The Lemon Drops was inspired by the effects of a LSD trip and titled 'I Live In The Springtime.' Long recognized as a classic example of psychedelic folk-rock, 'I Live In The Springtime,' has appeared on the Rhino Nuggets box set, Pebbles Volume Eight, Chicago Garage Band Greats, and many other compilations. In addition to the shimmering splendor of 'I Live In The Springtime,' The Lemon Drops left behind a great legacy of music during their brief two-year tenure. Included on this two CD set are many previously unreleased recordings (including two different versions of 'I Live In The Springtime') and a twelve page booklet with extensive liner notes and band memorabilia." We might also add this: great tracks by hard luck psychedelic band; the band's only issued 45 ‘I Live In The Springtime’, has a strong melody that suggested that better things lay ahead.... but as it turned out, none of the band’s other recording sessions were released on record until the mid-eighties on the Cicadelic label; the Lemon Drops recorded a second 45, the hard rockin' ‘It Happens Everyday’, b/w ‘Alone’, at the RCA Studios in Chicago, but it was never released. They then worked on an ambitious new project with tablas, flowery harmonies and numerous special effects the master tapes from this session are included here; by chance, the band played their tape to Buena Vista Productions who offered to put up $250,000 to promote the group: Obviously the band were thrilled, and they recorded a plethora of new songs in Chicago's Sound Studios during November and December 1968; ironically, these efforts too proved to be in vain, for the owner of Buena Vista died in his sleep and the deal was cancelled! Devastated the band split up for good. Any way you slice it (sorry!), this is a reissue that is well worth the money. DBL CD $15 SKU:19792
LEMON FOG, THE- Summer With (60s psych) Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) "The spacey psychedelic sound of The Lemon Fog never sounded better with all their singles, previously unreleased outtakes, and complete version of 'Summer,' all from the original master tapes CD $15 SKU:13561
LIGHTNIN' HOPKINS -Shootin' Fire (1969 recordings)Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) Lightnin' Hopkins recorded over a dozen songs for the Clarity Music Company at the "ACA" Recording Studio in Houston in April of 1969. These songs ranged from new originals, such as 'Born In The Bottom,' 'December 7, 1941,' 'A Rainy Day In Houston,' and 'Stinking Foot,' to oldies such as 'Feel Like Ballin' The Jack,' 'Shake That Thing' and 'Shinin' Moon.' Since the 1970's some of these songs have been released on haphazard compilations with the bass and drums mixed too high, the guitar leads mixed too low, and excessive "reverb" in an attempt to make Lightnin' sound more contemporary. Now for the first time ever the original four track masters have been re-mixed without any of the extraneous studio misjudgments that marred previous releases. As an added bonus, previously unreleased recordings such as 'Movin' On Out When The Saints March In,' 'Old House Torn Down,' 'Mistrust My Baby And She Mistrust Me,' and 'Baby Please Don't Do Me Wrong' are included on this compendium of Lightnin' Hopkins gems. A large selection of never before seen photos, contracts, and documents rounds out this collection of rarities. The net result is 77 minutes of Lightnin' Hopkins in his prime "shootin' fire". •Taken from the original four track masters. •Includes previously unreleased tracks. CD $12 SKU:19764
PSYCHEDELIC MOODS PART 2 - Sunset Love & Inner Sanctum Journey Thru Inner Space)Label:CICADELIC After releasing the “Psychedelic Moods” album, in October of 1966, Mark Barkan envisioned another psychedelic album for his next release. It was to be performed by a Greenwich Village band called “Inner Sanctum”. The theme of the album was to be a psychedelic journey into the various psyches of the mind. The trip started with a journey into the past (The House Of Yesterday) then covered the inner workings of the mind (ID) then the descent into madness (Hydro Pyro) hallucination (Purple Floating) and finally culminating in nirvana (Snow Petals). Unfortunately, Barkan was unable to find a record company willing to lease the masters and so they languished for decades unreleased. Now, at long last the masters for this aborted album are mixed from the original four track tapes and forty plus years later the psychedelic sounds of “Inner Sanctum” are now ready, willing, and able to blow your mind. Sunset Love” was comprised of band members from New Mexico and Texas. In the fall of 1968, thirteen original songs and two covers were recorded for a potential album, but nothing was ever released. “Sunset Love’s” lush harmonies, soaring vocals, superior song writing, and flower power consciousness pervaded their songs with a depth and quality unheard of from most 60s’ bands. While their sound can be compared to such bands as “The Mamas and The Papas”, “The Peanut Butter Conspiracy”, “Spanky and Our Gang”, and “The Love Exchange”, “Sunset Love” had their own inimitable style that transcended a generic stereo-type. Had Sunset Love released their album in the 60’s, there is no doubt it would have been an instant rarity of excellence. The “Sunset Love” tapes are sourced from the original stereo versions and reveal the great harmonies and surrealistic lyrics of an undeservedly overlooked and forgotten band from the late 60’ CD $12 SKU:12399
TROYES - Rainbo Chaser (67 psych Label:CICADELIC RECORDS The Troyes exploded onto the music scene with 'Rainbow Chaser' a regional smash hit that climbed to number 3 on the top 40 in September of 1966. Sensing a new phenomenon, famed bandleader Ray Anthony (who already had smash hits with 'Dragnet' and 'Peter Gunn') signed the group to his new rock label Space Records. His faith in the band was so big that nearly two albums worth of material were recorded at United Sound (Detroit) in 1966 and 1967. Unfortunately, only two singles were issued and the rest of the material was never released. Now for the first time ever, all twenty-four of The Troyes' recordings are compiled on one album. The recordings range from far-out psychedelic to unhinged fuzz and farfisa garage to moody haunting sounds. Included with this album is a detailed booklet of rare photos, radio surveys, newspaper articles, and Troyes memorabilia CD $15 SKU:19761
WINTER , JOHNNY -BYrds Can’t Row Boats 65-68 DBL CD -Label:CICADELIC The Unreleased Masters Collection 1965-1968'. For the first time ever the crucial and most creative period of Johnny Winter's career is compiled on this 36-SONG, DOUBLE-CD set, covering the years 1965 to 1968. The sound Winter was creating during these three short years includes Byrds and Dylan influenced folk-rock, psychedelia, blues and hard rock. The sound is sourced from the original masters and first generation mix down tapes . No less than 20 of the 36 tracks are previously unreleased. Included is a 16-page booklet full of rare and never before seen Johnny Winter memorabilia such as handwritten letters, original sheet music, contracts and photos. CD $16 SKU:19763
IT”S A HAPPENING!- Texas Girls of the 60s- Label:CICADELIC All seven recordings by The Heart Beats are included on this album, along with other great female led bands from 1966, such as The WordD from Dallas and The Bombshells of Houston. An added bonus is folk singer, Linda Pierre King from Houston, whose self-penned originals from 1966 foreshadowed subsequent folk singers such as Janis Ian and Melanie. COMP CD $14 SKU:12744
REVOLUTION -Teen Time In Corpus Christi (1966 Texas garage)Label:CICADELIC In 1966, famed lead guitarist Rod Prince (later of Bubble Puppy) re-wrote the 13th Floor Elevators' song 'Tried To Hide' as 'All Night Long' and released it with the Bad Seeds as their third single. They were the number one band at the time in Corpus Christi. Although 'All Night Long' would beat the Elevators' 'Tried To Hide' (on International Artists) to the market, the Bad Seeds disbanded in the summer of 1966 and other renowned Corpus bands would follow in their footsteps, most scoring top ten hits on the way: Four more with the ultra-rare single 'Problem Child' b/w 'Don't Give Up Hope'. The Zakary Thaks with 'Bad Girl' and 'Face To Face'. The Liberty Bell with 'The Nazz Are Blue' and 'For What You Lack'. The Buckle with 'Baroque Rock' on 'I've Got Something On My Mind'. Folk-rock singer Michael backed by The Zakary Thaks on all three of his singles, sounding more like a 1966 era Bob Lind than Bob Lind. And Kubla Khan singing about changin' times in 'Revolution' and pondering whether 'the brown grass will be legalized'. Memorabilia such as top 30 radio surveys, rare photos, news articles from the era, interviews with band members, sixteen page booklet, and twenty-eight tracks (including previously unreleased recordings) combine to make this a trip back to the '60s, when a revolution in sound was happening in Corpus Christi, Texas." COMP CD $12 SKU:19762
ROUTE 66- Texas 60s psych with the OUTCASTSLabel:CICADELIC The Outcasts (of San Antonio) whose signature song I'm In Pittsburgh (And Its Raining) has been covered by numerous neo-60s bands is just one of their 12 great recordings on Route 1966, and all of them have been re-mixed from the original four track masters for the first time. These recordings reflect the short-lived era, when the Farfisa or Vox Continental was a mainstay for a rock and roll band from Texas, just before the psychedelic music craze got underway, led by The Psychedelic Sounds Of The 13th Floor Elevators. Also included on this album is S.J & The Crossroad (of Beaumont) with six of their best and rarest tracks from 1966, issued together for the first time on CD. Tracks: The Outcasts (San Antonio): Route 66 (Askel 107-a), Smokestack Lightning (unreleased), Im In Pittsburgh and Its Raining (Askel 102-a), Sweet Mary (unreleased), My Love (unreleased), Everyday (Askel 104-b), Ill Set You Free (Askel 104-a), The Price Of Victory (Askel 102-b), The Birds (unreleased). SJ and The Crossroads (Beaumont): London Girl (unreleased), The Darkest Hour (Part I)(Salmar 100-a), Night Time (Salmar 103-a), Ooh-Poo Pah Doo (Salmar 101-a), Breakdown Salmar 102-a), Funny Woman (unreleased), The Darkest Hour (Part II) (Salmar 100-b). The Outcasts: Everyday (Askel 107-b, alternate version), Route 66 (unreleased-alternate version). COMP CD $12 SKU:12664
THREE O CLOCK MERRIAN WEBSTER TIME -22 Psychedelic Sounds from Texas. 66-68 Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) By the time 1966 ended, many of the groups in Texas that started out playing British Invasion and folk-rock music, were now immersing themselves in the newly emerging psychedelic music. The five groups that comprise this album reflect the changes that occurred during this period and four of them even changed their names to sound more psychedelic. The Nomads became Smoke, Carrols Mood became The Sights And Sounds, The New Imperials became The Front Page News, and The Boys became The Remaining Few. Represented by twelve tracks on this album, The Nomads/Smoke, started out playing folk-rock music, but by 1967 went psychedelic-as witnessed by their “freak-out” version of “My Little Red Book” replete with backwards tapes. “Carrols Mood” went from singing ballads to surreal songs such as “Mystical Bells”. The Front Page News went from the soul of “Baby Let Me Bang Your Box” to the fuzz drenched “Thoughts and Afterthoughts”. If the 13th Floor Elevators were the epitome of what a Texas psychedelic band was, then the groups on this album were not far behind in trying to emulate that state of existence. Here then are twenty-two tracks compiling the changes that occurred from late 1966 to 1968, when the Texas bands went metaphorically speaking from “Kool-Aid” to “Electric Kool-Aid Acid” COMP CD $10 SKU:13278
PLASTIC CLOUD- ST- (Essential psychedelia!)180 GRAM Label:LION "What remains so remarkable about the band's album is that... the performances retain an energy, but also a naivety, that somehow evokes both the Jefferson Airplane and the Velvet Underground — often within the same song." —Shindig! Magazine
Plastic Cloud recorded, quite simply, one of the greatest underground psychedelic albums ever made: a swirl of gossamer vocals and Tolkien references, swathed in the some of the most relentless fuzz guitar you will ever hear. A record with few equals, full of foreboding melodies and lovely hippie harmonies, as well as some of the trippiest fuzz guitar ever recorded. There is no need to single out a specific track, they are all excellent—one is equally as good as the next. Take for example the album centerpiece, the ten-and-a-half-minute ‘You Don't Care,’ an insane piece of social commentary that features terrific back-of-the-mix fuzz guitar as an elusive focal point to its extended pounding-drum laden instrumental breaks; a ten-minute swath of lysergic fuzz guitar that closes out the first side, it doesn't overstay its welcome, winding its way to a final freak out. Essential psychedelia! LP $25 SKU:16104

AVE ROCK - ST (70s space psych)Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) Excellent debut album from one of Argentina’s best groups, which included Daddy Antogna from Orion’s Beethoven; very spacey psychedelic progressive from 1974, featuring the sweet ‘Ausencia’, the moody ‘El absurdo y la melodía’, and the great guitars and organ of ‘Gritos’; the best track might well be the long improvised instrumental ‘Viva Bélgica’; a very good effort, full of shifting rhythms and rich melodies. “Ave Rock were Argentina’s version of a progressive Deep Purple; great guitar driven heavy prog/psych drenched in tons of Hammond organ. Songs are very well developed with some nice mood variations and dynamic arrangements. Although there are some vocals they play a minor role as the album is mostly instrumental. The entire album is pretty trippy and spacey, with tons of guitar, bass, drum and Hammond interplay. In many ways this album reminds me of bands from the Ital-prog genre. Clearly one of the classics of Argentinian rock, and a fantastic record. CD $10 SKU:18952
BEVIS FROND- Inner Marshland -Label:CHERRY RED 80s psych legends CD $10 SKU:18279
ESQUIRES & THE EXOTICS- Dallas '66 (psych-pop gems)including rare radio promos and unreleased materia SAALE - Label:CICADELIC Subtitled The Now Sound is Here. "In 1966 Dallas was a Mecca for great bands and two of the best, The Exotics and The Esquires, are included on this album. The Exotics began as a rock and roll band in 1959, but by 1966 were recording psych-pop and folk-rock gems. They released three singles, one of them, 'Come With Me,' reaching the top ten. The Esquires formed in 1965 and recorded four singles, mixing folk-rock with a hard edged sound. The wild 'Come On Come On' and 'Judgment Day' are what make The Esquires legendary today. Dallas '66 contains all seven of The Esquires' original songs and seventeen tracks by The Exotics, including rare radio promos and unreleased material." CD $12 SKU:13444
HORDE -Press Button Firmly (mid sixties rare garage) w 4 bonus tracks -Label:BREAK-A-WAY Rarest 60s garage album by North Carolina students from early 1967. Painstakingly remastered at KSL. Undoubtedly the most exciting mid sixties garage album to be recently discovered in the genre, is that by The Horde from North Carolina. The existence of this self produced album came to collectors ears and eyes only about a year ago. It was recorded more or less accidently in early 1967, released in a micro quantity of only 25 copies and among the local US garage albums of the decade it is one of the few eclectic examples with all the ingredients that makes it outstanding compared with the usual prep-school albums of the time. It contains a blend of exciting originals and well chosen, inspired covers, played in a raw, crude and frantic style. If ever it were true that the over-used assertion that a band's cover versions measured up to the originals, then it is true of The Horde. Why? These five 19-20 year old students from all over the United States did not only blaze a trail for 60s rock in then conservative North Carolina, they also had a general attitude that finds its origins in the young peoples mindset of the mid-sixties that put them outside of the local mainstream and gained them a sort of regional underground popularity. CD has 4 bonus tracks. CD $14 SKU:15346
LAS ANTORCHAS- ST (60s Mexican acid punk w liner notes, and a poster insert) Paper mini slv replica - Label:ORFEON Las Antorchas were formed in 1965 by five college students in Mexico City. They released only one EP on Orfeon, but had recorded enough material for an album. They split around 1968/69, but after a line-up change they continued under the name of Antorcha. Thanks to the persistence of VAM Records and record producer Manuel Alvarez Valdez, we now have all known material of Las Antorchas, including their Orfeon material. Their early sounds are rock/beat influenced, with most relying on organ and vocals. But the excellent ‘Dime’ is a really great acid-punk track. Truly underground Mexican rock, waiting to be discovered. This edition has liner notes, and a poster insert that replicates the Orfeon EP art. The CD features 18 tracks in all – their famous EP, plus a host of great singles – with titles that include "Opus 14 Interior 12", "Dime", "Shake", "Confesion", "El Soldado", "Sabia", "No Lo Hagas", "Canta Conmigo", and "Substitute". MASAHIKO SATOH & SOUNDBREAKERS -Amalgamation (JAPANESE 70S PSYCH)Label:DRONE SYNDICATE (SWEDEN) Number seven on the Japrocksampler Top 50, available again for the first time in over a decade! "This preposterous piece of psychedelic avant-jazz sounds like the work of aliens, each with only one foot in our universe. Propelled by cacophonous brassy blasts, volleys of machine-gunning, ecstatically 'Light Fantastic' rhythms and moments of Teo Macero-style 'Mixing Concrète' (during which the whole track becomes consumed by waves of new sound); the result is the most singular mash-up of inappropriate sounds any listener is ever likely to hear. Over two side-long tracks, shaman Masahiko Satoh sends us through a sonic mind-field, baffling our senses and our sense of gravity. Located at the centre of Amalgamation's giddy sessions was the frantic Detroit drumming of hard-bop legend Louis Hayes, whose role it was to play the bubbling ever unfolding fundament on which Masahiko Satoh's whole trip proceeded, as though the rhythm section were a magic carpet magically pulled out from under the feet of the other performers. Over this rhythmic shaking, Satoh scattered Hammond organ around and ring-modulated* his Fender Rhodes piano solos (*Roland built three especially for the record), added lead guitar from 'super session' legend Kimio Mizutani, trumpets and sax from Mototeru Takagi, scat singing from Kayoko Itoh, and strings from the Wehnne Strings Consort." (Japrocksampler) CD $10 SKU:19032
MICHAEL ANTON AND AMOK- Jesus Makes You High (STRANGE 70s GERMAN GARAGE PSYCH)Label:GERMANOFON A very strange project for Achim Reichel and legendary Krautrock producer Conny Plank and the Gorilla Musik production company (owned by Achim Reichel, coincidentally): a professionally produced German hard rock record with heavy Jesus lyrics... although it's more for the sound collage elements here that this album has attracted some notice. The title track from this album has attracted attention from appearances on “Prae Kraut Pandemonium” and “Obscured by Krauts” garage/psych compilations. First-ever reissue includes full lyrics and two bonus tracks from their only 7" release. CD $10 SKU:19037
MILLENIUM - Pieces- Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans!- Label:VOICEPRINT (England) By 1969, the Millennium, Curt Boettcher (who was also an independently contracted producer for Columbia Records), executive producer Gary Usher of the band’s “Begin” album, and a slew of Usher-produced acts like Gene Clark, the Peanut Butter Conspiracy and Chad & Jeremy, were all let go by the label. Combined with the internal conflicts the Millennium were experiencing, and multiplied by the inherent pressures of their rock-n-roll lifestyles, the loss of their recording contract was a fatal blow for the group. The Millennium disbanded in 1969, leaving behind a classic one-shot "desert island" LP. Yet the Millennium's breakup did not eliminate all interest in the group. Somewhere along the line, enough "people in the know" purchased or were handed copies of their album, and soon a small but devoted cult began to form around the record. For whatever reason, a good amount of unrealized Millennium material languished in the vaults. It is an incredible revelation to finally hear these missing puzzle pieces which reveal a band of enormous depth and songwriting talent. After listening to these unreleased demos, the divine results of the cosmically profound collaborative effort known as the Millennium become even more apparent. Unlike most of the concurrent L.A. super-groups (e.g. Rhinoceros), the members of the Millennium actually gelled musically. The various band members engaged in a variety of writing partnerships that resulted in some of the most beautiful (if under-appreciated) music of their era. Essential listening for sunshine pop and psych-pop fans! CD $10 SKU:12228
ORION’S BEETHOVEN- Superangel (Argentine 70s psych )ONE ONLY! -Label:CLOUD FOREST It is an unfortunate reality with many groups from Argentina that, although they may have spent several years developing their own sound, they rarely have a chance to demonstrate the results in the recording studio. The end result: the fame of some of these bands has only very slowly spread abroad to the general world of record collectors and fans of underground music. This is certainly the case with Orion’s Beethoven, loosely described as a “symphonic psychedelic group”, primarily, it seems, because of the way that they worked classical music themes into a jagged psychedelic wah-wah guitar shaped world of their own making. Here we have a reissue of their debut album (1973), which starts out with a riff that sounds like a schizoid version of the Get Smart theme music, and goes on from there into weird reaches of flanged vocals, hard-edged guitar solos; the second track, a thirteen minute suite, is driven by guitar—first acoustic, then a wiry-wounding electric; track three is stranger still—echo effects, flanged drums sounding like an outer-spatial blues band jam. I’m sure those “classical music” themes are there somewhere in track four, but there’s no sense of “precious” about this band. Live bonus track is brief—a portion of the suite (track two) from the album—and apparently a rare document of the band on stage. CD $15 SKU:6268
ST JOHN’S GREEN- ST (L.A. 60s psych GREEK pressing ) w liners -Label:ACID SYMPOSIUM Strange Kim Fowley produced psychedelic opus—'canyon music' as this Los Angeles area group might have described it; strange songs about the fires of hell and spacemen from Venus with some anti 'flower power' songs and stoned sounding jams that show why they were touted by Fowley as the next 'in-thing'—they weren't, of course, but a strong album all the same CD $10 SKU:18973

The “Egyptian Thing” album presents the band’s four A's & B's alongside four unreleased, same-calibre tracks from the same period, and an earlier 45 by the Ris-Kays featuring Syndicate front man Bill Rash. An in-depth insert written by Ugly Things' Mike Stax with a cache of photos compiles the legacy of a band, whose 45s are among the top wanted items in their genre, making this release the ultimate Syndicate collection and an unforgettable garage punk adventure. TIN HOUSE- ST (70s powerhouse rock) w liners, rare photos, insert plus pic slv EP -Label:LION In the twinkling universe of virtuoso electric guitarists that followed in the wake of the genre’s progenitor Jimi Hendrix, perhaps one of the most deserving of renewed recognition is Floyd Radford of the band Tin House, a little known three piece that signed briefly to CBS records in 1970 and released one highly prized album a year later. The overdriven, fluid guitar work—heavy on the wah-wah pedal—is brought to the fore by a beefy full production." —Richard Allen, Shindig! MagazineTin House were so good—their music was a hard-rocking onslaught of lust, chops and powerhouse riffs that gripped like an alligator bite—they were signed to Epic Records out of high school. They were respected by Leslie West and Johnny and Edgar Winter. Their album (released in 1971) was produced by Rick Derringer. But like other almost famous bands, Tin House fell away into unjust obscurity. Tin House's focus was on heavy rock like the sex-fueled opener, ‘I Want Your Body,' and standout track ‘Be Good and Be Kind,’ with a catchy up-and-down, down-and-up riff played adeptly by guitar prodigy Floyd Radford, and a driving monster beat laid down by drummer Mike Logan; the song tears in as a fast as a Florida hurricane and sweeps the listener up into its vortex for two-and-a-half minutes of energized bliss. Yet the album also showed diversity: Radford’s melancholy ballad ‘Tomorrow;’ the jivin’ honky tonk of ‘30 Weight Blues’ (a tribute to the band’s 1962 Ford Econoline van); ‘Lady of the Silent Opera,’ which featured orchestration by seasoned studio musicians from New York City’s Local 802 Union to underscore its positive message of “look to the heaven—smile to the blue sky.” This Lion Productions reissue includes everything Tin House recorded for Epic, including two previously unreleased tracks and the elusive (and unique) single versions of 'I Want Your Body' and 'Be Good and Be Kind'—all taken directly from 24-bit/96kHz master tape transfers. Four panel insert has liner notes by Doug Sheppard (Ugly Things) and photos from the archive of drummer Mike Logan. Lean, fluid, tight, and the best hard rock album from the USA you probably never heard of (until now)!

WILDE FLOWERS- ST ( 60s Brit pop ) booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes - Label:VOICEPRINT Booklet is packed with photos, cuttings and extensive sleeve notes from the band members. It is simplistic to merely say that The Wilde Flowers were a popular music group based in the vicinity of Canterbury, England. Although the band name itself may not ring any bells for too many people (they never released any records during the band’s lifetime, from 1964-1967), it was a pillar of the legendary Canterbury scene of the mid-to-late sixties. The Wilde Flowers have assumed an almost mythical status simply because of the musicians that passed through them. Band members included, at various times, Hugh Hopper (bass), Robert Wyatt (drums, vocals), Kevin Ayers (vocals) (all soon to form the Soft Machine), as well as the basis of influential Canterbury band, Caravan: Richard Sinclair (rhythm guitar, vocals), Pye Hastings (guitar, vocals), David Sinclair (keyboards), Richard Coughlan (drums) and Brian Hopper (lead guitar, alto saxophone, vocals). This CD is the very first commercially available record of the Wilde Flowers sessions. A number of tracks on this disc were recorded at a session at Regent Sound Studios on the 6 August 1969, though by this time, the careers of Soft Machine and Caravan were already underway; these tracks are of interest as they feature tracks recorded by Wyatt, Hugh Hopper and Pye Hastings: ‘Impotence’ (Hopper/Wyatt), ‘She Loves To Hurt ‘(Hopper), and ‘Memories’ (Hopper). A fourth track, ‘The Big Show’ (Brian Hopper), also sees Brian Hopper joining in. Thus one of progressive rock's most important bands came to an end with the formation of the Canterbury scene's most popular groups, Soft Machine and Caravan. Not all the members that passed through the ranks of The Wilde Flowers ended up in these two bands. Brian Hopper also formed the short-lived band Zobe, some of whose recordings also appear on this disc. CD $10 SKU:14884
YAYS & NAYS- ST- ( 60s garage 6 stars in Pokora book!) MINI LP SLV - Label:GROOVIE SPAIN "Monster rare USA private pressing from 1968, rated with 6 stars in the Hans Pokora 3001 book. The Yays & Nays were a groovy, hip group comprised of three guys and three girls. This is a truly unique sounding album, full of creative songwriting and vocal arrangements and a style that defies any categorization. There's some fab garage folk-rock on it (the opening track 'Gotta Keep Travelling' is really astounding!), and also some tracks in a bizarre crooner-lounge 'Incredible Strange Music' vein. Reissued for the first time, in collaboration with band members, and with original artwork." CD $10 SKU:14713
SUMMER TURNS TO AUTUMN - Ember Rock, Vol. 2 (RARE 60S PSYCH& PROG)-Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE British indie label Ember released a number of rock albums and singles between 1969 and 1972, which today are much sought after by collectors of psychedelic, progressive and folk rock sounds. Many of the best tracks from these are gathered on “Summer Turns To Autumn”. Foremost among the artists compiled here is progressive rock band Blonde On Blonde, represented by tracks from both of their Ember albums. Fantastic Voyage has salvaged two tracks from Blue Beard s album. An early songwriting/production project for Bob Welch, who next surfaced in Fleetwood Mac, the album was only released in Italy, but the single ‘Sly Willy’ was more widely available and is highly prized by collectors of funky rock. Tyrannosaurus Rex-style acoustic hippy duo Knocker Jungle and progressive folk group 9.30 Fly each managed one now highly collectable long player for the label. The remainder of the material ranges from the fuzzy psychedelic rock of Canadians The Dorians and the melodic folk rock of Paddy Maguire, backed by heavy friends Steve Winwood and Jerry Donahue (of Fotheringay), to the soul-rock fusion of Milt Matthews Inc, here interpreting a Blind Faith song, and a previously unissued folk rock rendition of ‘East Virginia’ by Polly Niles. “Summer Turns To Autumn” complement Fantastic Voyage’s existing, highly popular compilations of Ember Beat and Ember Pop, with no duplication of tracks. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging. COMP CD $10 SKU:19046
THREE O CLOCK MERRIAN WEBSTER TIME -22 Psychedelic Sounds from Texas. 66-68Label:CICADELIC RECORDS (USA) By the time 1966 ended, many of the groups in Texas that started out playing British Invasion and folk-rock music, were now immersing themselves in the newly emerging psychedelic music.

BUZZSAW - FROM LEMON DROPS TO ACID ROCK (DOUBLE LP 70s garage psych w liners) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) SOLD OUT AFTER THIS Soon after relocating to the west-coast, Chicago's legendary garage-psych youngsters THE LEMON DROPS (of 'I Live In The Spring Time'-fame) disbanded. Eddie and Gary Weiss then put together 3-piece Buzzsaw. In 1971 Max Weiss, Creedence Clearwater Revival's manager, expressed interest in the band. As a result Buzzsaw entered the Ampex and Pacific Sound studios in San Francisco to lay down some tracks. All of these recordings were produced by Roger Weiss, the original producer of The Lemon Drops and co-owner of Rembrandt Records. Sadly, Buzzsaw only released one 45 during their short lifespan. This Buzzsaw double vinyl retrospective includes all the tracks from the previous 'From Lemon Drops To Acid Rock' CD, plus some amazing songs from recently discovered acetates and unreleased master tapes. The music is orgasmic '71 heavy-psych and proto-grunge in the style of Hendrix and Blue Cheer, with killer fuzz-wah guitar parts and melodic vocals. This double-LP comes with remastered sound and liner notes by Roger Weiss. LP $25 SKU:16609
RABBLE RABBLE- Composure (PSYCH) SWIRL VINYL -Label:EYE VYBE RECORDS (USA) Rabble Rabble spent nearly a decade building a heavy reputation for raucous basement shows where any attendee will inevitably leave the room drenched in beer and twice as drunk as before. The addition of Kieterang See Jru (also of Strychnine, Plastic Crimewave Syndicate) in 2013 effectively spiked the band's punch with a healthy dose of LSD, and soon their live shows became full on psychedelic space trips, infusing the heavy, reckless garage punk they built themselves on with krautrock rhythms, proto metal edge and a dash of Smashing Pumpkin-esque guitar leads. Composure is a great finale to the trip that was Rabble Rabble. Limited to 300 copies, 12 min/side; plays at 45 rpm; includes lyric insert; pressed on random marble swirl vinyl by gotta groove records. LP $15 SKU:19484
WHITE LIGHT - Parable (scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych ‘74)- LAST TWO! Label:SOMMER Super scarce high-powered bluesy garage/psych hard-rock beast, packed to the gills with cheesy organ, jubilant fuzz guitar, and frenzied drumming”. – Ken Scott (The Archivist
First ever reissue of this ultra-obscure private pressing (as featured in the last Hans Pokora’s “7001 Record Collector Dreams” book with the maximum scale rarity). Done under license from the band members. Insert with liner notes and photos.Formed in Glasgow in the early 70s, White Light were not an ordinary Xian rock band: influenced by the explosive sound of The Who, the hard blues of John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and even Black Sabbath, their live performances across the country featured heavy rock sounds, feedback howling round, phased lighting effects and commitment to the real enjoyment of Rock Music. They weren’t formed to play in churches – but to take The Message to the rock generation in loud clubs, halls and big rock venues. In 1972, they were finalists in a national rock competition organized by Melody Maker magazine. This event encouraged the band to enter the studio for the recording of their first album. “Parable” was released as a private pressing in 1974. Housed in a mysterious looking cover, the music is Xian hard psych straight from the garage with lot of raw fuzz guitar and Vox Continental organ.Combining hard-rock with heavy blues and dreamy moments, it features the monster sidelong track “Prodigal”, which has to be heard to be believed.
