DENIM DELINQUENT-Complete Collection Book-Label:HOZAC First-ever official Denim Delinquent fanzine compendium, the legendary monolithic bastion of proto-punk journalism. Quite possibly the equivalent of the 'Dead Sea Scrolls' of modern punk fanaticism, and one of the rarest self-produced publications to emerge from the pre-DIY years of the early 1970s. It's such a shame how few sets of eyes have seen these primitive pieces in real life, and that's why it was nothing short of prerequisite to forge this book into reality, which will undoubtedly set the clock back a few years on the standard 'punk' timeline. We couldn't be happier to see the free-form intertwining of heavy rock, proto-punk, and primitive power pop represented with such unbridled enthusiasm, in a time before it was compartmentalized, commodified, and repackaged for the suburban teen market. Denim Delinquent is a true gem of unadulterated punk amateurism, condensed into an incredibly hard-edged slice of the early '70s you can immerse yourself in without pretense or punditry, a true pioneer of the underground press culture right at time in rock history where anything was possible, and the open-ended creativity ran wild. As they say, some of the most far ahead-of-its time music came from this early-mid '70s era, and as the rest of the music world sat idly by and waited to be spoon-fed their mellow mediocrity, some real adventurous wild rockers were right there lapping it up as it was happening in real-time, and the founder/editor/publisher Jim Parrett just so happened to fit this profile. Scientists and physicists can keep toiling away at trying to build time machines, but for us, there's no better vehicle for slipping into another time and place than when you are flipping through the pages of underground magazines like Denim Delinquent. The band illustrations are miniature masterpieces, and the writing is highly infectious, as any good fanzine should be- 100% driven by genuine excitement and a bleeding desire to spread the word. Happening across original copies of the magazine would be instant recognition of museum pieces, so we're proud to present this North American cultural artifact complete with all of the rough edges intact, and with that irresistible and unmistakable excitement literally bleeding off the edges of each page. 200+ pages. 2nd printing of 300." FAT MATTRESS-ST (60 psych w Noel Redding)Label:RADIATION DELUXE SERIES (SPAIN) - Deluxe reissue of the 1969 debut by Fat Mattress, formed by guitarist/vocalist Noel Redding while he was still playing bass in a little group called The Jimi Hendrix Experience.- Drawing comparisons to Love, the Buffalo Springfield, and The Byrds, Fat Mattress is harmony-heavy and tuneful psychedelia with a distinct West Coast folk-rock bent, and their fantastic debut has come to be known as a lost classic of psychedelic rock.- High-quality 180-gram LP in gatefold sleeve. Formed by guitarist/vocalist Noel Redding while he was still playing bass in a little group called The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Fat Mattress released their debut in late 1969 on Polydor. Though Noel's more famous group was known for its hard edged psychedelic rock, Fat Mattress instead opted for the breezier side of things, with a distinct West Coast folk-rock bent. Drawing comparisons to Love, the Buffalo Springfield, and The Byrds, Fat Mattress is harmony-heavy and tuneful psychedelia. Though it was well received by critics at the time, sales were slow and Redding soon left the group. In the intervening years, though, Fat Mattress's fantastic debut has come to be known as a lost classic of psychedelic rock and this high-quality gatefold 180-gram LP reissue is a welcome relief from high-priced originals. Essential for fans of both Jimi Hendrix and psychedelic folk-rock. LP $26 SKU:17981

RESTOCKS
PAUL MARTIN- It Happened(1966-67 garage anthems)Label:OUT-SIDER 1966-67 garage anthems, jangly folk-rock and baroque pop courtesy of prolific songwriterPaul Myerberg aka Paul Martin. "There a new man in town? Martin!" So began the liner notes from the picture sleeve of his second 45 record in 1967. Actually, Paul Martin started life as Paul Myerberg. Growing up in Manhattan, Paul was influenced by the exciting music of the day, like the Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan. In the mid-sixties Paul started writing and recording some impressive demos which ran the gamut from garage-punk, to jangly folk-rock, soul-pop and baroque, orchestrated pop. Many of these were cut on 4-track tape at Tower Sound Studios in midtown Manhattan with the help and guidance of the skilled jazz musician, Frank Owens. While at Tower, Paul met Herb Ostrow who released Paul's first single on the Impex label out of Philadelphia. "It Happened", a terrific garage number, came out in the spring of 1966. The following year, Paul released a second 45 on his own Rodin label - "The Last Remains Of Our Love" (another impressive, passionate garage gem), backed with "The Fairy Princess" (a dreamy pop-psych track). Almost 30 years later Paul's first album was released on the Distortions Records label in 1996, compiling tracks from his two sought-after singles plus studio demos and acetates. For many people, this was the first introduction to the music of Paul Martin. "An Aladdin's cave of well-crafted garage pop" -- Robert Cochrane (CultureCatch). Features new artwork and an insert CD $17 SKU:17923
RESIDENTS-Daydream B-Liver Label:KLANGGALERIE (AUSTRIA) Daydream B-Liver was released by The Residents' Fan Club UWEB in 1991. It's an assortment of music from the years 1971 to 1991. The oldest material is a recording of a live show at The Boarding House in '71. The Residents were assisted by Snakefinger for the event. Then there are three tracks from the Stars & Hank Forever sessions that were not used on the original album. 'Daydream In Space' was recorded by the band especially for this compilation. It is a nod to Sun Ra and Barry White. 'Dog Glue' is an unused snippet from the 'Baby King' music used on The King And Eye. The 1990s are represented by music from the Freak Show and Cube E sessions, including a live rehearsal for a German TV show. The song that gives the album its title (apart from it being part B of Liver Music) is a cover version of The Monkees' hit single of the (nearly) same name. As a bonus, we have included the 'Special Almost Dance Mix' of 'Hit The Road Jack', a song that The Residents recorded in 1987 as a follow-up to Kaw-Liga. This version has previously never been available on CD. Comes with a new front cover by Pore No Graphics." CD $18 SKU:17837
UTHER PENDRAGON-San Francisco Earthquake DOUBLE CD -previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975.-Label:GUERSSEN RECORDS (Spain) A treasure trove of previously unreleased West Coast guitar psychedelia, 1966-1975. "Uther Pendragon was more than just a band, it was a family. Closer than brothers, they lived together, made music together, worked, played, laughed, cried and dreamed together." --Mike Stax (Ugly Things)This is the incredible story of Uther Pendragon, a lost psychedelic band from San Francisco whose music has remained buried until now. Formed in the Bay Area in 1966 as a teen garage group called Blue Fever, Uther Pendragon lasted from 1966 until 1978. During that time, the band went through different names and phases, as their music evolved from garage to psychedelia to hard rock, but the core of the band always remained the same: Mark Lightcap (rhythm guitar, vocals), Bruce Marelich (lead guitar, vocals), and Martin Espinosa (bass, vocals). After finding their ultimate drummer in Mike Beers, the group finally settled on the Uther Pendragon name in the early '70s. But despite being active for all that time and recording at numerous studios (including their own in Palo Alto), Uther Pendragon never released any recordings. Their complex and fascinating story, which involves winning a Bay Area Battle of the Bands and playing with Country Joe & The Fish, recording a killer garage-psych 7" acetate in 1967, going to the legendary Pacific Recording Studios in 1969 to record a demo, living as a family in the same house for many years and rehearsing seven days a week, building their own recording studio and music corporation, being managed by Craig Pedersen (Something Wild, Tripsichord Music Box), being involved in an occult-themed rock opera called Sabbat, and much more, is told with all the details by Mike Stax from Ugly Things in this set's extensive liner notes, with rare photos. Produced from the band's vast archive of original master tapes, San Francisco Earthquake includes their unknown-until-now 7" acetate from 1967 (fab garage-psych in the vein of The Human Expression or The Music Machine); tracks from 1966-'69 including a groundbreaking, moody psycher from 1966; a demo tape from 1969 recorded at Pacific Recording -- an incredible document for any lover of early SF garage-psych (think Oxford Circle, The Savage Resurrection, Moby Grape . . .) -- and many tracks recorded at their home studio in Palo Alto. 100% unadulterated West Coast guitar psych and hard rock that recalls QMS and even Kurihara-era White Heaven. EVERYWHERE CHAINSAW SOUND - VA- Legendary 1960s US garage psych compilation w booklet Label:FEED THE MIND (UK) Feed the Mind presents a reissue of Everywhere Chainsaw Sound, the legendary 1960s US garage psych compilation. Featuring tracks from many legendary 45s, it includes a 12-page full-color booklet. "In a field full of weeds the earliest garage psych/punk compilations still possess a charm that endears them to collectors. Back in the early 1980s a number of now extremely rare compilations were briefly available via mail order. They almost immediately disappeared onto the shelves of a small but hardcore group of US '60s rock fans. Everywhere Chainsaw Sound was one such compilation that originated in France and was produced in a microscopic numbered edition of only 100 copies. Housed in a plain white card sleeve with handmade artwork, it remains, even to this day, almost unknown by the majority of '60s US garage psych collectors. Inspired by Elektra's Nuggets LP, grey area compilations such as Pebbles, Boulders, and Acid Dreams (PAPR 1007LP/2094CD/2096CD/2097CD) created a demand for underground compilations that grew into the US garage rock reissue market that has since produced many thousands of records. An unceasing demand for music from probably the most exciting period of rock and roll has turned into a minor industry. Thankfully Everywhere Chainsaw Sound is once again available as a limited edition high quality vinyl reissue with improved sleeve notes and sound. You may have some of these recordings on other compilations but somehow the mystery excitement and sense of discovery that fuelled the first era of the garage rock revival is captured on this iconic compilation." --Richard Allen, founder of The Freak Emporium, now writes for Shindig! Everywhere Chainsaw Sound includes tracks by Lincoln St. Exit, The Spiders, The K-Otics, The Scepters, The Reverbs, Strangers, Ken & the Fourth Dimension, The Guilloteens, Fe-Fi-Four Plus 2, Unchained Mynds, Kan Dells, The Spokesmen, The Original Dukes, Heros, The Monacles, The Music Explosion, and Electric Prunes. HIPSVILLE - VOl 2 (60s garage ) - Label:NORTON The second volume in Kramden Records' (an early forerunner of Norton) Hipsville series scores big rockin' points with this collection of what they refer to on the front cover as "16 more delicious mystery appetizers." Split evenly between a "Friday Night side" (party tunes) and a "Saturday Night side" ("no money, no honey, no nothin'"), this musically follows in the footsteps of the debut entry. On the Friday night side, the highlights are plentiful, but heading the list are the Caravans' "3 Musketeers" (that's right, an ode to a candy bar), the Cardinals' "Hatchet Face," Florian Monday & His Mondos' "Rip It Up," "Go Go Ferarri" by the (no relation to the band of the same name that did "Time Won't Let Me") Outsiders. On the Saturday night loser side (also check entry for Shutdown '66 for more prime mid-'60s self-pitying material), the Fearsome Five's "It's Alright," the Revelles' "You Don't Love Me No More" (complete with a jaw-droppingly lame harmonica solo), and the Hermon Knights' "You're Not Mine" are raw genius, loaded to the gills with '60s teenage angst galore. If '60s garage band records chock full of sizzling fuzz guitars, trebly Farfisa combo organs, simple but noisy drumming, and hyperkinetic tambourines to go with the alternately wimpy and sneering lead vocals is your thing, you can't do without this one for the collection. ~ Cub Koda COMP LP $14 SKU:11716

It's Zimmerman's World features all kinds of obscure tracks by Terry and the Trip-Outs, the Toads, Billy Easley and the Gorillamen, the Changin' Times, the Love Society, and many more." MARIJUANA UNKNOWNS 60s STONER songs about pot!) -Label:STONED RECORDS Marijuana Unknowns is a good idea—a comp full of tracks about pot. Marijuana Unknowns contains a variety of styles, and many of the tracks are late-sixties psych, but about half of them are really just songs that indulge stoner lyrics. Long-time fan, professional party animal and metal/punk singer-songwriter-producer Andrew W.K. took the original album session tapes to three of the songs and, as he puts it ever so modestly, 'remixed, over-produced and totally ruined reimagined' them to create sonically stunning brand new versions of 'The Next Big Thing,' 'Two Tub Man,' and 'Weekend' for this Black Friday exclusive release! But that's only half the treasure that awaits Dictators fans on this 10" EP, which comes on beautiful opaque red vinyl; in the course of reviewing the tapes for this project, Sony Legacy A&R Producer Timothy J. Smith also located a reel of unreleased session outtakes including a completely previously unknown recording that never made it to the album, 'Backseat Boogie,' along with an alternate take of 'The Next Big Thing' and an instrumental take of 'Weekend.' Back cover and label artwork boasting previously unseen photo contact sheets complete the package. LIMITED EDITION OF 2500." LP $25 SKU:17105

STUD- ST (Private 1975 hard rock ultra-rarity from Texas)-Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) LP version. Private hard rock ultra-rarity from Texas exhumed for the first time. With only 200 copies released in 1975, the Stud album has become a holy grail for collectors. A mystery for many years (all the band members used pseudonyms on the album credits), the band seemed impossible to track down... until now. Formed in 1974 in Houston, Stud featured the killer lead guitar of 17-year-old genius Tim Williams, the brutal Rickenbacker bass attacks of Paul Eakin, and the solid-as-a-rock drumming of George Lasher. The chemistry was born when they first starting played together, and after many rehearsals they decided they were ready to record their first album. So they entered the Barons Studios in Rosenberg, and Stud was the result. Powerful hard rock ("A Woman Like You" and "Jim/Blues"), killer boogie-rock ("Captain Boogie"), hard psychedelic jams (the 13 minutes of "Stud"), and progressive hard rock on the impressive "The War Song." File next to Morly Grey and Incredible Hog. Remastered sound. Color insert with lots of previously unseen photos and liner notes by Paul Eakin telling the band's story for the first time.
