MY EDUCATION -BAD VIBRATIONS (Texas psych)Label:STRANGE ATTRACT Described as "advanced ecstacy" by David Fricke in the pages of Rolling Stone, Austin, Texas instrumentalists My Education create sweeping, cinematic music evocative and of the high-lonesome expanse of the Texas Hill Country landscape they call home. Formed in 1999 and comprised of former members of Austin-area psych mainstays Stars of the Lid, ST37 and Cinders, the band has since played over 300 shows all over the United States, alongside like-minded artists Pelican, The Black Angels, Six Organs of Admittance, A Place to Bury Strangers, Isis and many others. Three full-length albums, several compilation appearances and multiple singles are to their credit, including a must-have 12" vinyl collaboration with avant hip-hop act Dalek released last year. Additionally, My Education have received the remix treatment by Kinski, Pelican, Red Sparowes and the aforementioned Dalek, and even have composed an original score to the F.W. Murnau 1927 silent film Sunrise: A Song of Two Humans, which premiered at the famed Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in March 2007. In short, the band has gotten around. MYLLA -VANJA (ultimate psychedelic party-band 70s sytle )-Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUNDS Mylla came into fruitation at the now legendary illicit club/speakesy BZ in a Stockholm cellar. Mylla is the ultimate psychedelic party-band for the loosely knitted family of musicians centered around the Subliminal Sounds label (like Dungen, The Works, Life on Earth! and St. Mikael and many other Swedish psychsters). Were happy to finally be releasing their debut album "Vanya". The album was recorded in a limestone cottage at a secluded island far out in the Baltic Sea known by sailors for centuries as the "White Hawaii". The island Faro has been closed for all foreigners up until a few years as it contains several top secret army bases. The music is steeped in the Swedish 70s "Progg" tradition. Like Dungen the band sings in Swedish but unlike Dungen the Mylla experience might only be for the natives, but at least its no longer forbidden for anyone to try it out. Gustav Ejstes from Dungen turns up as a guest with his fiddle too. CD $8 SKU:20023

The sound can be described as a mix between a '68 biker movie soundtrack and the signature Scandinavian psychedelic sound. WILSON, CHRIS -SECOND LIFE (Flamin Groovies, Barracudas)-Label: ROCK PARADISE SPECIAL EDITION Guitarist and multi instrumentalist Chris Wilson is the ex-singer of the best-remembered line-up San Francisco's cult classic band The Flamin' Groovies and a long-term member of The Barracudas, another band with a dedicated and loyal fan base that stretches right around the world. His musical career's highlights include the classic Flamin' Groovies album Shake Some Action [1976] - one of the finest pop albums of its time - while his songs and music have appeared in Hollywood movies, including Clueless [1995], and are repeatedly covered by other bands. Now resident in North London, the US-born musician continues to gig and record - his most recent venture into the studio resulting in a new album, Second Life. The album mixes classic 60s-tinged rock ' roll, 12-string guitars and blues with a hint of folk and country - everything that made the Flamin' Groovies so well loved. It's more of the same but new... CRAMPS -HOT PEARL RADIO BROADCAST-LIVE ZURICH 1986 -Label:MIND CONTROL LIVE ZURICH 1986 - In 1986 The Cramps released one of their most well known and best selling albums, A Date With Elvis, which did especially well in Europe. On 21st of April of that year, the group led by Lux and Ivy, rolled into Zurich to perform in front of yet another full crowd of adoring fans. Constantly changing, constantly evolving, Group 1850 were musical extremists on a do-or-die mission to explode all expectations. Sparks flew, ideas flared, feedback swirled through misty nights, the dead walked, skeletons danced, flies buzzed, mountains fell, words rained fire from angry purple skies. Group 1850 raised all kinds of hell. My god, were they good. Recorded, edited and mixed over one long Red Lebanon hash-fueled weekend in October 1969, Group 1850's second album, 'Paradise Now', remains one of the high-water marks of European psychedelia. A wide-eyed, wide-open, synapse-electrifying set of songs, it sounds like the transmissions of a burnt-out satellite spinning through the galaxies of inner space. Group 1850 leader Peter Sjardin skillfully edited the group's free-flowing improvisations into eight cohesive, yet distinctly different tracks, part 'Saucerful Of Secrets', part 'Electric Ladyland', part Guru Guru, part Can circa 'Monster Movie'-era. PENTHOUSE 5-IT'S ALL MY OWN BIZARRE DREAM + 7"( rare mid sixties TEXAS garage psych) -Label:BREAK-A-WAY Hailing from the Dallas suburb Oak Cliff, The Penthouse 5 had its heyday in 1966-'67, when the band recorded a number of self-penned tunes and released two 45s. Several recordings from 1967 and other, more psychedelic influenced tracks remained unreleased, but demonstrate the musical versatility of the band. In 1966 the group underwent a substantial line-up change when three of the original band members, among them vocalist Rob Graham, left the group. He was replaced by Jon Williams, who had previously been with the By Fives and WordD. Alongside the Penthouse 5 recordings, the rare 7-inches of these closely linked bands are all collected for this release. Additionally an until now completely unknown 5-track '65 acetate rounds up this collection of rare and lost recordings by one of the greatest local '60s bands from the Lone Star State.
