BRAT FARRAR - ST Label:OFF THE HIP It’s his third minimally-titled, full-length offering and Brat Farrar has toned down the electro sounds and gone straight for the throat with guitars at warp speed. It’s more raw, edgy and melodic punk-cum-stoner rock with a true DIY spirit shining through. CD $8 SKU:18911
BROWN, JAMES -20 ALL TIME GREATEST HITS Label:POLYGRAM UNSEALED ONE COPY ONLY. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP CD $5 SKU:18926
DANNY MCDONALD-FIBROTONES (Aussie powerpop)Label:OFF THE HIP He might not mind the powerpop tag, but Australian singer-guitarist Danny McDonald's output is nowhere near insubstantial. In fact, recent efforts put more celebrated counterparts well in the shade. Danny's a storyteller, painting pictures of rural and beachside Aussie life in a way that few can equal. For the most part, it's set against a musical accompaniment of hooky, finely-honed guitar pop or tuneful garage raunch. In other words, powerpop with balls. CD $8 SKU:18915
DUNHILL BLUES - ST- RAW POWER Sonics, /MC5, / Dictators/ New York Dolls style -Label:OFF THE HIP "The Dunhill Blues play a pummelling, primitive and pulsing style of rock 'n' roll that's best viewedbeer in hand" - JEREMY SHEAFFE Beat Magazine CD $8 SKU:18916
DUNHILL BLUES - HULACIDE- RAW POWER Sonics, /MC5, / Dictators/ New York Dolls style -Label:OFF THE HIP "Hulacide" is The Dunhill Blues' third album and it's tighter and more in your face than those that have gone before. The sense of scrappy irreverence is intact but The Dunnies now sound like a well-honed unit. They still mix it up but have developed their own cohesive sound - without losing many rough edges. CD $8 SKU:18917
DUNHILL BLUES - HARD TRUTH RAW POWER Sonics, /MC5, / Dictators/ New York Dolls style -Label:OFF THE HIP The Dunhill Blues, hailing from Sydney, are the ultimate bourbon-drenched, B-movie party band. Their expertise in pumping out a spicy hybrid of soulful garage rock, snotty punk, scuzz-bucket country, twisted surf and fried-brain psych ensures that this album absolutely shakes with the type of primitive, ‘ice-pick through the amps’ raw power that made legends such as The Sonics, The Monks, The MC5, The Dictators and The New York Dolls so much eardrum-exploding fun." - BY GRAHAM BLACKLEY CD $8 SKU:18918
GIMMIES- Roll UP (JAPANESE STOOGES/MC5 style garage)Label:OFF THE HIP THE GIMMIES are rock action personified with screaming guitars that tap into the Detroit tradition of the Stooges & MC5 and matched by a cockiness that would put The Pretty Things to shame. Combined with their love of Australian garage rock and their English-as-a-second-language-lyrics, they twist rock music into shrapnel only matched by their Japanese brethren Guitar Wolf, Teengenerate and the King Brothers. CD $8 SKU:18914
MESA COSA - YA YA BROUHAHA Label:OFF THE HIP Mesa Cosa are a gang of rambunctious punks out to remind the world that rock 'n roll is the devil's music, and the devil loves any excuse to get loose. Boisterously uplifting garage riffs, mandatory-shout-along one-word choruses, anarchic noise walls and enough Mexi-folk flavour that summons the spirits of a possessed mariachi band covering the stooges at in a neon Tijuana dive. Mesa Cosa sing in both Spanish and English but they only speak one language - party. With the world in such a depressing state of affairs Mesa Cosa have determined now is the time to unleash a full album of their festive freak-outs. YA YA BROUHAHA is stuffed with sonic snarls and sly smiles, brimming with the raw energy that's made their gigs infamous (though you will have to obliterate your own tambourine for the authentic experience). From the jaunty jangle of Melbourne-pride anthem 'Sydney' to the brutal boogie of occultic banger 'Satanas' it's clear Mesa Cosa are out for a raucous good time and want everyone else in on it. They wander into darker territory with tracks like the unpretentiously self-explanatory 'Creepy' and murkily volatile 'Bad Blood' but whenever audio-anxiety levels are about to teeter over the edge Mesa Cosa never fail to explode into a triumphantly melodious redemption-riff. CD $8 SKU:18920
MESA COSA -INFERNAL CAKEWALK Label:OFF THE HIP When you open up a record entitled ‘YaYa Brouhaha’, you go into it knowing that you’re probably not going to find the next Bob Dylan. In fact, it’s more likely you’ll find a howling, fuck-eyed Iggy Pop, in the smearing-peanut-butter-over-his-belly phase of career. Yeah, that comparison probably sits right. It’s too fun of a title to be anything as macabre as GG Allin, and it’s too idiotic to be anything that takes itself seriously. So, basically the perfect mix of punk rock and hellfire carelessness. CD $8 SKU:18921
MOONSTONES - FUZZ FARFIZA FIESTA(MIRACLE WORKERS, CHESTERFIELD KINGS STYLE GARAGE)- Label:OFF THE HIP THE MOONSTONES are influenced by bands such as THE MIRACLE WORKERS, THE CHESTERFIELD KINGS or THE SONICS and produce correspondingly superb music. The title of their debut album FUZZ, FARFISA Y FIESTA already says what they are all about: Rocking music filled with a lot of Fuzz guitar, 60's farfisa organ and a crazy party attitude; all of which is set in Spain. This album is Garage Rock at its best; brilliant melodies, groovy hammondsounds, wild and fuzzy guitars, a strong, mainly CD $8 SKU:18919
PAPA PILKO AND THE BINRATS -TILL THE END OF THE WORLD(swampy, bluesy, downright sleazy rock and roll )-Label:OFF THE HIP "The versatility of the bands sound is incredible – not once moving away from the core image, sound, style and personality of the band. This is definitely a band I’ll be keeping an eye on." - Meghan Player, Push To Fire. CD $8 SKU:18922
PRONTO- WHEN YOU’RE GONE (punky power pop)-Label:OFF THE HIP “The Melbourne five piece channel the vintage '77 era punk sound but don’t sound like shit.”The punky power poppers take the spirit, sentiment and melody of 70s acts such as the Nerves and Protex, the neurosis of Feederz and bizarre/obscure KBD gems then mix in self depreciation, a sentimental and sometimes hostile approach to romance and humour. They are from a time when people actually handed out flyers at shows and punk rock was all about agitation. CD $8 SKU:18913
THEE PSYCHO DELMATICS - Tough Guys Can DAnce (PRIMAL GARAGE)Label:OFF THE HIP Primitive, primal rock n roll, and project an image that is heavily in vein to the 50s....you can say it has a 50s-meets-garage sound. CD $8 SKU:18912
WYLDE OSCARS, THE-Rosilita GARAGE ROCK-Label:OFF THE HIP Conjure an image, if you dare, of Bo Diddley crashing a punk bus into Hamburg-era Beatles, and you’ll be close to uncovering Thee Wylde Oscars’ modus operandi. From further essential ingredients, including the sweat of Little Richard and the death-or-glory ramshackle chords of Chuck Berry, Thee Wylde Oscars have concocted their own treasure-trove of gems from a pirate’s garage. … CD $14 SKU:18927
ZOMBIES - ODESSEY & ORACLE Label:REPERTOIRE UNSEALED ONE COPY ONLY. Archive copy previously owned by either the owner of ALIVE or BOMP CD $15 SKU:18923
