FIREBIRDS- Light My Fire (60s stoners)-Label:CROWN The 1968 released 'Light My Fire' album by the Firebirds , is a loose stoner heavy power album and a truly awesome relict from the Sixties. It offers a very heavy, psych flavored hard rock with blistering guitar leads inspired by the likes of Hendrix, Cream and early Blue Cheer. With the exception of the title track, all songs are group originals and the song writing is simply amazing. Considering this is a so-called exploitation album, the band has a stunning musical quality, which made the LP sought after and highly prized by collectors over the years. The new edition contains all track stated on the cover incl. 'Free Fuzz' and 'Free Drum'. Both these recordings were not included on the original album, but ended up on another exploitation album the same people did under the moniker 31st Flavours for the same label. Released on the soon-to-be-bankrupt PVC label, original copies now fetch a hefty sum online. REAL KIDS- Grown Up Wrong ( proto-punk/power pop rockers ) - Label:NORTON Boston's proto-punk/power pop rockers the Real Kids have been lionized as legendary through the years that have passed since their short, original run. The few studio recordings they released officially during their lifespan contain great, hook-ridden songs but don't hint at the true ferocity that fans who caught them "back in the day" swear to. Luckily, Norton Records has blessed the world with Grown Up Wrong, and this incredible live document confirms that every bit of ancient hyperbole about the Kids was true. The tracks are culled from a live radio broadcast, unreleased soundboard tapes, and the band's two tracks from the seminal Live at the Rat compilation; the Real Kids prove to be just as sweaty and explosive as rumored, far more visceral than their studio recordings ever suggested. RELATIVELY CLEAN RIVERS- ST (70s West Coast rural rock ) 180 gram 2014 repress SAALE -Label:PHOENIX RECORDS (UK) 2016 repress; LP version. Former Beat Of The Earth leader Phil Pearlman assembled Relatively Clean Rivers in the early '70s and eventually released this excellent rural rock album in 1975. Although Pearlman's first recorded effort was a surf/hot rod 45 entitled Chrome Reversed Rails which appeared on the Fink label in the mid-'60s, it was with Beat Of The Earth that he began to forge a distinctive musical voice. The band was one of the earliest-known experimental bands with a sound reminiscent of their East Coast counterparts, The Velvet Underground, whose influence is often discernible on Relatively Clean Rivers. That said, RCR is recognized by those fortunate enough to have heard it as one of the very finest albums of the era, with a clearly-defined American sound akin to The Grateful Dead in all their American Beauty pomp or CSNY circa Déjà Vu. An album highly recommended to anyone even remotely interested in '70s West Coast music or simply great music in general. Finally available on 180 gram vinyl once again, and comprehensively remastered using the latest 48-bit technology. 180 gram vinyl LP reissue of this all-time U.S. underground classic, originally released in 1976. Formed by Phil Pearlman, who led seminal experimental band Beat Of The Earth. The first 45 was quite an accessible punk affair, whilst their second and third were more British-influenced. After one final and disappointing rock and roll 45, drugs and the draft had accounted for many of the band and they regrouped as The Pointing Hand Group. This retrospective album on Voxx includes material spanning their career from 1965-69 with 45s, unissued and live material.
