CYMBELINE- “1965 - 1971”TWEAKED CORNER DISCOUNT! Label:GUERSSEN GREAT DEAL FOR A SMALL CORNER BEND! *Insert with photos and liner notes by band member Michael Journath LP includes digital download carPreviously unreleased DIY homemade psychedelia, teenbeat and fuzz-psych/prog by this amazing Swedish band, 1965-1971!!Tracks like “Third Image” or “Look at the stars” are an incredible find for anyone into US garage-psych (they wouldn’t sound out of place on any Pebbles or Psychedelic Unknowns volume!) and others like “Flicka”, “Stolta Vingar” or “Mittuppslag” are top notch ‘70s fuzzed out Scandinavian psych/prog. We can’t believe that such fabulous stuff has remained hidden in a carboard box until now.Formed in the industrial town of Norrköping in the mid ‘60s, Cymbeline (also known as Motala Ström and W&J) only released a 45 in 1971 before breaking up. But during their existence, the band recorded a lot of stuff, included here for the first time along with their rare 45.Cymbeline was basically two guys, Michael Journath and Anders Weyde, who met in 1965 while they both played in beat bands. They started recording songs at Anders little home studio with help with some friends and that’s how songs like “Imagination” and “Look at the stars”, amazing examples of homemade teen-beat, were born. At the same time, Michael and Anders were feeling a bit tired of playing cover versions with their beat bands so decided to start recording more experimental stuff, using armchairs and furniture as percussion, sounds from seagulls and birds, an electric cocktail mixer, improvising lyrics…these incredible experiments were recorded as “Images”, including the killer garage-psych sounding “Third Image”.
As the years passed by, the home studio improved and new songs were recorded in a more psych-prog vein, some of them included here. They also played a few live gigs with some help from other local musicians. In 1970, Ulf Ryberg joined the group and soon after a 45 was released containing his song “New York”. The flip side was “Sixth Image”, originally one of the “Images” but rearranged and re-recorded.In 1971, demos for an LP where recorded at Europafilm Studios in Stockholm. Two fantastic songs are included here and the sound is different from the earlier recordings – closer to the groups live performances.
So, 40 years later, here’s the LP that Cymbeline always dreamed of.
*Remastered sound LP $15 SKU:19310

MASON -HARBOUR (1971 hard rock) Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) The great 1971 offering from this Virginia Beach band that broke all sorts of records for concert attendance in the early 70's up and down the east coast!!!
Barnstorming hard rocker with an early progressive sound and overtones of folk and blues from Virginia, circa 1971. Originally released on the Eleventh Hour label with an alternate paste-on cover. Powerful vocals, loud guitar, flute, and killer Hammond organ -- in the Deep Purple, Jethro Tull, Grand Funk vein. Master tape sound; includes repro of the original multi-page insert plus liner notes. (sealed Press:"This is an interesting and diverse hard-rock album. If you can picture slow, organ-rich heavy prog, jazzy sax instrumentals, and snappy riff rockers, you'll have an idea of what you're in store for there. There's an air of professionalism usually absent from this kind of self-made records. 'Tell Me' has a fuzz guitar tone to die for." --Aaron Milenski, The Acid Archives LP $17 SKU:19415

These youngsters from Colorado formed in 1964 and they were famous for driving to gigs in a custom Cadillac hearse. Between 1965 and 1968, they released a bunch of singles for labels s.a. Chicory, Denco, Liberty. This retrospective collection includes the best of their 45 sides, plus some tracks that are previously unreleased on vinyl. AGAPE -The Problem Is Sin: Live And Unreleased (1973 blazing acid jam but with Jesus!)-Label:HIDDEN VISION Collection of rare material, much of it only previously available on an extremely rare promo-only 8-track tape (!) from one of the first hard rock Jesus music bands, formed around the talent of Fred Caban during the early stages of what became known as the Jesus People movement. Most of it is live from 1973, the stand-outs being a blazing acid jam versions of ‘Wouldn’t it Be a Drag’ and ‘Change of Heart’, live at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, CA. Upon graduating from high school in the spring of 1968, Hendrix-influenced guitarist Fred Caban and his bandmates squeezed into a small Volkswagen van in search of venues to perform. One night, at Huntington Beach's Lightclub, they met a group of enthusiastic teenagers whom Caban described as being "totally immersed with the message of Christ." Though not totally understanding the "Lightclubber's” message, Caban began praying for an introduction to "whomever was out there." When he returned to the van he shared his experience and found that fellow bandmate Jeff Newman had also undergone a spiritual conversion. Caban formed another band naming it Agape, the Greek word for God's love. Having established himself as a guitarist of some merit, the band capitalized on his name to gather crowds. Agape's vision became evangelistic–desiring to share their experience with their peers. "We'd play one or two songs, we'd jam, we'd blow them away and then boom, we'd start preaching..... and people would actually stick around and listen." Within six months a group of fifty young converts had joined the trio as a loose amalgamation of spiritually searching teenagers who gathered together for Bible studies and strategy sessions to promote the band's concerts. ARCHIE WHITEWATER- ST -LAST COPIES! ( for collectors of 70s psych, funk, jazz rock, etc)Label:RPM RECORDS Archie Whitewater was not a person, but an eight-member band, none of whom were named Archie Whitewater. Their sole and self-titled album attracted little notice on its 1970 release, in part because it was recorded for the Cadet/Concept subsidiary of Chess, which was nearing the end of its time as an active label of consequence. Fast forward to today, and the album is extremely in-demand among fans of funky breaks, selling regularly for £100+, attracting collectors of psychedelia, funk, jazz rock, horn rock and hip-hop alike. Based in New York, Archie Whitewater were spotted by Robert Stigwood and signed to the same Chess stable as the acclaimed Rotary Connection. Re-mastered from the original tapes. 'Highlight Cross Country' was famously sampled by hiphop legend Common (on Chapter 13 - Rich Man Vs Poor Man ) while 'Hulk' was borrowed by Blahzay Blahzay. CD $15 SKU:19081
BIG BOY PETE - Cold Turkey (60s trippy psych) -Label:GEAR FAB That darling of the U.K. is back again. Big Boy Pete (A.K.A. Peter Miller) is emptying his archives to give us his final recordings of the 1960's in his typical flower pop style. Featuring his 1968 hit "Cold Turkey", these psyched-out tracks will not dissappoint. CD $10 SKU:14118
BREAD LOVE AND DREAMS - ST ( 60s folk psych) Label:HUGO MONTES The first, and perhaps the dreamiest album from these famed folk/psych purveyors (Decca, 1969), who include David McNiven (he wrote all the lyrics for the amazing Human Beast "Volume One" album), and Carolyn Davis from Looking Glass; flowery yet mournful stuff—fragile and introverted songs in minor keys reminiscent of no one— and all of high quality. CD $8 SKU:19195
BULLDOG BREED - Made in England ( 60s UK psych) w bonus tracs NEW LO PRICE -Label:(UK) LION Orig. rel. in 1969 on Deram. Official rel. of one of the best late 60’s UK sike lp’s. w. members of PLEASE, NEON PEARL and the FLIES. Original stereo master tapes. GOLEM - Orion Awakes (70s psych) -Label:ACME/ LION Epic early to mid-1970's instrumental psychedelic space-rock from the Pyramid Records archive, said to be pseudonymous after-hours studio sessions featuring the biggest names on the Krautrock scene at the time; heavy drums, jamming guitars and Hammond organ: in short, and amazing improvised free-form trip of impressive magnitude, on par with the music of Krautrock heavyweights like Neu! and Gila. An adventurous atmosphere throughout, whether the result is hallucinogenic and jazzy ('Jupiter'), the heavy freak and roll of 'The Returning,' with crushing guitars and massive, repetitive almost funky rhythm, or the Jimi Hendrix-inspired 'Godhead Dance.' Booklet essay examines the controversy surrounding this and other recordings first made known to the world via Virgin Records' three disc "Unknown Deutschland" series of compilations from the 19901s, including the fact that one "Genius P Orridge" is named as producer of the Golem album. It1s clear enough to all that Genius P Orridge is strangely similar to the name Genesis P Orridge, he of Throbbing Gristle and Psychic TV fame. The fact that the other names on the Golem album jacket lead nowhere only adds to the confusion. In any case, a deep and fascinating record, still fresh despite the years... and meant to be played loud. 3A space-rockin' hybrid of Gila and instrumental Hendrix type moves, Golem were another band from the lost Pyramid Records archive. Totally instrumental, and a feast for guitar fans... On first listen Golem comes across as a lost classic of Krautrock without a doubt, with a music that blends everything from Neu! to Novalis, and all crammed full of solos.2 ‹Crack in the Cosmic Egg CD $14 SKU:11999
PLEASE- 1968/69 (SUPERB COLLECTION OF UK PSYCH)-Label:ACME Superb and historic collection of 1968-1969 UK psych—excellent somber, moody, minor key demo material taken from original master tapes and restored acetates. Trying to follow the chronology of Peter Dunton’s projects is difficult—these tracks were recorded soon after the demise of Neon Pearl (a band documented by our own Acme/Lion CD release), around the time the other original members of Please were recording the Bulldog Breed album for Deram (another band documented by an Acme/Lion CD release), and just after Dunton had left Gun to rejoin forces with bass player Bernie Jinks, his co-leader in phase one of Please for the band that would eventually emerge as T2. Booklet contains lyrics, and notes on the various moves and disintegrations. This disc features the original killer demo version of 'No More White Horses' (a song that T2 would take into another dimension on their epochal "It'll All Work Out In Boomland" album, also available in our Acme/Lion series), as well as 'Folder Man,' written by Peter Dunton, which has been utilized by Gnarls Barkley on 'The Odd Couple.' Includes an alternate version of the stunning Syd Barret-esque 'We Aim To Please' as a CD-only bonus track.CD $15 SKU:19303
POLIFEMO- ST (70’s psych prog) - Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA (Korea) RARE debut album by this Argentine rock super-group, led by David Lebon (ex-Color Humano and Pescado Rabioso) on guitar and vocals, Rinaldo Rafanelli (ex-Color Humano and Sui Generis) on bass, Juan Rodríguez (ex-Los Mentales and Sui Generis) on drums, and keyboard player Ciro Fogliatta (ex-Los Gatos, Sacramento and Espíritu; a blend of rock with some slight psychedelic and progressive touches, especially the use of mellotron and moogs; the main thrust of the album is hard and heavy blues-based rock—more than a casual nod to Uriah Heep and other UK hard rock bands; includes both of their rare EMI singles+ b-sides as bonus tracks. CD $8 SKU:18993
TONCHO PILATOS- ST (Stunning Mexican psych album from 1973 - Paper mini slv replica ) -Label:CIRUELA ELECTRICA (Mexico) Stunning Mexican album from 1973, which has some excellent psychedelic jamming and a fine blues based Led Zeppelin style. YAYS & NAYS- ST- ( 60s garage 6 stars in Pokora book!) MINI LP SLV - Label:GROOVIE SPAIN "Monster rare USA private pressing from 1968, rated with 6 stars in the Hans Pokora 3001 book. The Yays & Nays were a groovy, hip group comprised of three guys and three girls. This is a truly unique sounding album, full of creative songwriting and vocal arrangements and a style that defies any categorization. There's some fab garage folk-rock on it (the opening track 'Gotta Keep Travelling' is really astounding!), and also some tracks in a bizarre crooner-lounge 'Incredible Strange Music' vein. Reissued for the first time, in collaboration with band members, and with original artwork." CD $8 SKU:14713
ZOOT MONEY-Transition (LOST 70S PSYCH GEM)-Label:RIGHTEOUS An excellent album! Featuring the same players who were in the Big Roll Band (including future Police guitarist Andy Summers) on all tracks, Zoot Money came up with this tip-top set, which has soulful ballads, up-tempo mod material and a couple of dreamy sitar numbers written by Summers; 'Soma' inspired Summers and Money to push the boundaries and encouraged the band to wig out further, and in a state of psyche-pop bliss, they decided they were so far out of the Big Roll Band sound that they should change their name to Dantalian's Chariot. They played shows with the Pink Floyd and featured a couple of the tracks from “Transition” in stranger incarnations; Dantalion’s became a cult classic in the process, but turned their existing mod following off and failed to ignite. After the Dantalion hiatus, “Transition” was finally released (in 1968) on the Direction label; by that time, the mods had embraced the psychedelic bug and the album slipped into obscurity, and became one of those buried treasures that is talked of but seldom actually even seen. Finally, this lost gem has made it to CD. Remastered from the original quarter inch tapes, with all of its glorious sweeping sounds, aching vocals and groovy upbeat tunes intact, it's the epitome of cool. CD $8 SKU:19014
GOOD TO THE LAST DROP- VA Killer Rare Sixties & Seventies Soul - Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE (England) Killer collection of obscure soul tracks! Ember Records founder Jeffrey Kruger sought out the best soul sounds, and the label maintained a steady stream of classy soul releases throughout the sixties and seventies. The CD begins with five well-known Northern Soul tracks: Mr. Floods Party come in with a propulsive version of the Gene McDaniels song ‘Compared To What’; dance-floor favourite ‘Looky Looky’ by The Brothers Grimm is included here too. R&B flavoured items such as Jewel Akens ‘Wee Bit More Of Your Lovin’ have been getting more exposure in the clubs in recent years. The Casinos were known for their ballads, but ‘That’s The Way’ proves they could deliver a commanding performance on uptempo tracks too. Milt Matthews gives impassioned performances on four of his compositions, ‘Oh Lord (You Gotta Help Me),’ ‘That’s What I Feel For You,’ ‘Disaster Area’ and ‘Can’t See Myself Doing You Wrong.’ The Pac-Keys hip instrumental ‘Dig In’ was recorded at Hi Studios in Memphis. Dee Edwards has two tracks: the sprightly dancer ‘Why Can’t There Be Love’ and the yearning ballad ‘Hurt A Little Everyday.’ Tony & Tyrone whip up a storm on their pounding dance tracks ‘Everyday Fun’ and ‘Whip Your Loving On Me.’ Fork In The Road have the most sought-after Ember soul 45—both sides, ‘Can’t Turn Around Now’ and ‘Skeletons In The Closet’ are included. Ed Robinson’s ‘Hey Blackman’ is fine deep soul, a heartfelt call to black Americans to assert themselves. Mary Frazier Jones was best known as a professional gospel singer and offers a sanctified performance on Jackie DeShannon’s rousing message song ‘Put A Little Love In Your Heart.’ The catchy disco track ‘Good To The Last Drop,’ that also provides the title of this compilation, was produced by music business veteran Johnny Otis together with his son, guitar-star and incredibly underated solo artist Shuggie Otis. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging. COMP CD $8 SKU:16375

SUMMER TURNS TO AUTUMN - Ember Rock, Vol. 2 (RARE 60S PSYCH& PROG)-Label:FANTASTIC VOYAGE British indie label Ember released a number of rock albums and singles between 1969 and 1972, which today are much sought after by collectors of psychedelic, progressive and folk rock sounds. Many of the best tracks from these are gathered on “Summer Turns To Autumn”. Foremost among the artists compiled here is progressive rock band Blonde On Blonde, represented by tracks from both of their Ember albums. Fantastic Voyage has salvaged two tracks from Blue Beard s album. An early songwriting/production project for Bob Welch, who next surfaced in Fleetwood Mac, the album was only released in Italy, but the single ‘Sly Willy’ was more widely available and is highly prized by collectors of funky rock. Tyrannosaurus Rex-style acoustic hippy duo Knocker Jungle and progressive folk group 9.30 Fly each managed one now highly collectable long player for the label. The remainder of the material ranges from the fuzzy psychedelic rock of Canadians The Dorians and the melodic folk rock of Paddy Maguire, backed by heavy friends Steve Winwood and Jerry Donahue (of Fotheringay), to the soul-rock fusion of Milt Matthews Inc, here interpreting a Blind Faith song, and a previously unissued folk rock rendition of ‘East Virginia’ by Polly Niles. “Summer Turns To Autumn” complement Fantastic Voyage’s existing, highly popular compilations of Ember Beat and Ember Pop, with no duplication of tracks. Nice shrink-wrapped slip-case packaging. COMP CD $8 SKU:19046

DEVIL’S KITCHEN- ST (SF 60s psych ) Label:LYSERGIC SOUND First ever release by DEVIL’S KITCHEN, perhaps the best of the greatly talented but “forgotten” bands from the legendary San Francisco psychedelic scene of the late 1960’s. This heavy guitar-powered psychedelic four piece band moved from their original Southern Illinois base to the Bay Area during The Summer Of Love. The band came to the attention of Bill Graham and Chet Helms in 1968 and was soon playing on a regular basis at The Fillmore West. A short time later Devil’s Kitchen became the house band at Helms’ Family Dog Ball-room on The Great Highway in San Francisco and remained there in that capacity from the spring of 1968 until the summer of 1970. Devil’s Kitchen played all the major venues in The Bay Area and Los Angeles during this time period, opening for and playing frequently with many very well-known bands, including The Jefferson Airplane, The Grateful Dead, Santana, Quicksilver Messenger Service, The Allman Brothers, Big Brother And The Holding Company with Janis, The Charlatans and many, many others. The band spurned a recording contract offer from Mercury Records in 1968, displeased with the lack of creative control offered them by the label. Consequently, they never released any recordings. There are eight original unreleased tracks on this album and all were taken from the original master tapes that were recorded in 1969 at The Family Dog Ballroom On The Great Highway in San Francisco and the Sierra Sound Recording Studio in Berkeley. The music has a great and unmistakable late 60’s acid-drenched West Coast guitar-driven blues-psych sound with snakey electric slide and roaring fuzz guitar throughout, provided by the talented Robbie Stokes who later went on to play with Quicksilver Messenger Service and appeared on Mickey Hart’s 1972 “Rolling Thunder” LP, just to mention two of his many musical credits. The discovery of these master tapes and this subsequent release of Devil’s Kitchen’s first full length album, more than forty years after the recordings were made, is an exciting find for the collectors of obscure 60’s psychedelia. How a great band like this remained under the radar and unreleased for all these years is mystifying. Limited pressing of 1,000 hand-numbered copies. Welcome again to the great San Francisco sound of the late 1960’s! LP $21 SKU:12995
GREEN -ST (POWER POP) Label:LION Color insert comes with notes, lyrics, and photos from band leader Jeff Lescher, The ultimate reissue of this vaunted power pop classic!Green arrived on the alternative rock scene in the mid-80s, amidst a Chicago scene that included bands like Naked Raygun, Big Black, and Ministry. While Green bypassed the major label-express that other bands rode to fame and fortune, they continued to make records their own way, records which were lauded in the pages of Trouser Press, Spin, and The Village Voice, among others. And with each passing year there are those many who are convinced that their debut LP is worthy of those Mojo/VH1/Spin/ lists of the top 50 or 100 rock albums of all time. Green may be the bee’s knees for power poppers, but they deserve much more notice than that. They were an all-embracing band, with a taste for punk, glam rock and soul—and with the twitchy sort of energy that burbled around in the late-80s, pre-grunge underground (a little Feelies anyone?). It remains a mystery why so many other bands are fixed in the collective memory as the era's best; at the very least, Green should make a list of top obscure pop groups of all time! Color insert has band history and lyrics, plus many a fine photo, all courtesy of band leader Jeff Lescher. According to one astute reviewer: "Green darts through decades of pop history as impatiently as the 'Spiral Scratch'-era Buzzcocks, with band leader Jeff Lescher’s voice ranging from Princely falsetto to gravel-tinged field holler, but most often sounding as though someone stepped on Paul McCartney’s toes in 1965." Another reviewer quite rightly added, "This is such a flawless pop masterpiece that I’m not even ashamed to trot out terms like 'flawless pop masterpiece.' LP $15 SKU:19293
GREYLOCK MANSION-ST (underground PSYCH 68 w 3 inserts)Label:Lysergic Sound Unother buried treasure of pure underground psychedelia: •Comes with three inserts! A true masterpiece of 60’s U.S. underground psychedelic rock, finally re-issued GREYLOCK MANSION, who emerged loudly from Tucson, Arizona in 1968. The band's sound (as heard on the opening track of LSD's best-selling "St. Albert's Dream" compilation) is powerful, deep underground psych with thick, dominant funereal organ and distorted fuzz guitar and effects, backed by heavy precise drumming. The Doors and Iron Butterfly influences are evident, and a touch of early Black Sabbath’s slow grinding sludge rears its head at times. For all the desired heaviness, which is plentiful, the lyrics might be even more impressive—dark, meaningful, thoughtful, masterfully constructed and thought provoking, with mystical, sci-fi and otherworldly themes like time travel, death, and other wicked inventiveness. It would be difficult to believe that Greylock Mansion's lyrics and music were written by a 19-year old, until you realize that the teen in question was Merl Reagle, soon to be a master wordsmith, raconteur—oh, and the most famous crossword puzzle author in the U.S. Reagle was syndicated in the largest newspapers in the country, made numerous television and movie appearances, and was even portrayed on the enormously popular TV show, The Simpsons. Roaring heavy fuzz guitar, doomy organ and spiritually mysterious psychedelia—a robust and compelling mix of original songs that meld science fiction, horror movie themes and Reagle’s lyrics. Greylock Mansion's musicianship, heavy yet melodic tunes, and songwriting are superior to many of the “big name” bands of the time; they can finally and deservedly be heard and appreciated by fans of the heavy ultra-obscure underground psychedelic gems of the era. Included are three inserts—a 4 page folder with pictures and text; a psychedelic poster w/lyrics; and a color reproduction of a poster from Unifest 1970 in New Mexico.Nine original songs, all of restored and remastered from the original 1969 studio reels. Three of the tracks were released on private label 45 micro-pressings in 1970 and 1971; the other six cuts are released for the first time!! LP $24 SKU:17972
OUBA - ST Canadian 60s acid psych rarity(insert with photos and liners) -Label:OUT-SIDER (Spain) A Canadian rarity from 1968, recorded under the influence of hallucinogenic substances by underground musicians Michel Pagliaro, Tony Roman, Denis Lepage and Andy Shorter. The album consists of just one long freak-out jam divided in two sides. You get a raw basement sound featuring acid guitar, stoned vocals, keyboards and loud drums, similar to early Soft Machine, Pink Floyd at their most free-form phase, or Can. Comes with newly remastered sound, plus an insert with photos and liner notes. LP $16 SKU:16168
