AVENGERS V1- Really Cool Hits w download ( 1966 Original So Cal SURF ) - Label:DIONYSUS The Avengers VI "Real Cool Hits" limited edition white vinyl repress - includes free digital download
THE AVENGERS VI were a clean-cut surf band from Anaheim, Calif., whose one and only album, Real Cool Hits, was issued in 1966 as a promo for Good Humor ice cream. The group's name wasn't even mentioned on the cover although it was pictured on the kick drum. The LP, originally issued on the Mark 56 label, was sold from the Good Humor ice cream trucks and has since become a highly-valued collector's item. In 2008 an original copy went for $315 in an online auction. What set THE AVENGERS VI apart from many of the other surf groups was their superior musicianship. Guitarist Jim Ferguson was reported to practice eight hours a day while organist Mike DeYoung had formal musical training and a wide knowledge of classical music. The group's repertoire, which encompassed covers of popular surf instrumentals, mood music, movie themes and some first rate originals, attracted both teens and adults to their appearances in southern California. THE AVENGERS VI had largely been forgotten, except by die-hard collectors, until Bacchus Archives reissued Real Cool Hits on both vinyl and CD in 2001. The vinyl reissue has itself become collectible, bringing prices of $30 and up, which is why we've decided to repress this gem! FIREBIRDS- Light My Fire ( 60s stoners ) SAALE - Label:CROWN The 1968 released 'Light My Fire' album by the Firebirds , is a loose stoner heavy power album and a truly awesome relict from the Sixties. It offers a very heavy, psych flavored hard rock with blistering guitar leads inspired by the likes of Hendrix, Cream and early Blue Cheer. With the exception of the title track, all songs are group originals and the song writing is simply amazing. Considering this is a so-called exploitation album, the band has a stunning musical quality, which made the LP sought after and highly prized by collectors over the years. The new edition contains all track stated on the cover incl. 'Free Fuzz' and 'Free Drum'. Both these recordings were not included on the original album, but ended up on another exploitation album the same people did under the moniker 31st Flavours for the same label. This reissued LP comes with original labels and original cover. LP $18 SKU:14888

MR ALBERT SHOW- 180 gram original artwork , heavy carton sleeve.- Label:PSEUDONYM he Eindhoven-based Mr. Albert Show can be considered as one of the jam bands from The Netherlands in the late sixties, combining elements from rhythm & blues, rock, soul and psychedelica. The five-piece band, led by saxophone player Bertus Borgers (Sweet d'Buster, Golden Earring, Groove Express) was a truly wild sensation for anyone who witnessed one of their gigs between 1969 and 1973. In between those years, the band recorded two albums, both fetching high prices from international record collectors. Now, for the first time since its release in 1970, their debut album Mr. Albert Show has been reissued by Pseudonym Records on a 180 grams audiophile pressing, taken from the original master tapes. SUN RA - Second Stop is Jupiter - Label:NORTON The Second Stop Is Jupiter is the companion volume to Interplanetary Melodies in that many of the same tunes are on both discs in previously released and unreleased form. There's just a bit more of a "rehearsal" aspect to this volume, with some song breakdowns and a bit of arrangement discussion. The space references are a bit more overt as well, with "Spaceship Lullaby" and "Second Stop Is Jupiter" both containing elements that would end up in the Arkestra tunes "Rocket Number Nine" and "Interplanetary Music." Juanita Rogers' "I'm So Glad You Love Me" is more of her pure '50s teenage romance, but the swinging arrangement of the issued single is fantastic. "Stuff Like That There" is another track that's kind of surprising to hear Sun Ra sing. Ra fans suspected that there was material like this awaiting release. CD $12 SKU:15087

YOUNG SINCLAIRS - Change Your Mind (powerpop ) -Label:13 O CLOCK BW Once or Twice. Hot on the heels of their new album on Ample Play comes a new single from The Young Sinclairs! This top-notch two-sider finds the Roanoke, Virginia-based group in peak form as they display their signature sound: a mixture of jangly folk rock diffused through a prism of paisley pop, and accentuated at times by garage, powerpop, and mod moves. The key equation to their sound is thoroughly demonstrated on the A side of this single, a jangly Byrdsian folk rock song with spot-on vocal harmonies, steeped heavily in the pot of Rain Parade-style paisley underground pop. On the flipside, the group adds thick dollops of powerpop to this mixture, rounding out what rest assured is a single to stay in constant rotation on turntables everywhere!“Beautiful 60's-inspired folk-pop” - Carrie Quartly, Louder Than War“A band with an impressive ability to evoke the music of the masters without coming across as derivative” - Nathan Ford, The Active Listener“If the 70's perfect power-pop bands actually existed in the 60's they might hope to sound like these new mad mod modulators” - Waymon Timbsdayle, Rocktober
