NEW ARRIVALS
MANDRAKE MEMORIAL:-3 Part Inventions (60s psych)Label:FLASHBACK (UK) Having made two superb psychedelic albums and gigged with The Doors, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, The Velvet Underground and many others, in June of 1969, The Mandrake Memorial came to London. The plan was to record with famed producer Shel Talmy (The Kinks, The Who, Pentangle), but when that fell through, they persevered alone. Long thought to be lost, 3 Part Inventions anticipates the woozy, dream-like vibe of their 1970 masterpiece Puzzle, combining eerie vocals, trippy guitar and otherworldly electronics to create a unique whole. Transferred directly from the master tape, it's released here for the first time, together with a detailed band history, rare images, two previously unheard outtakes from a 1969 acetate, and a rare radio interview. CD $18 SKU:18294

BRACKETT,ALAN LEE-Peanut Butter Conspiracy Theories: Lost Songs 1967-1968-Label:OUT-SIDER Out-Sider present Peanut Butter Conspiracy Theories: Lost Songs 1967-1968, previously unreleased recordings by The Peanut Butter Conspiracy's main-man, Alan Lee Brackett. Mostly written and recorded in 1967, when PBC were at their fame peak, Alan explores a number of different styles, encompassing fuzzed-out garage numbers, sunshine pop, folk rock and full blown psychedelia. Including ahead of its time garage-psychedelic, DIY homemade recordings on which Alan plays all instruments by himself plus pro-sounding studio cuts. Although best known as a member of The Peanut Butter Conspiracy, Alan Brackett enjoyed a long career in the music business that book-ended his time with that legendary group. A multi-talented musician so adept at playing numerous musical instruments, he was a veritable one man band, and a skilled songwriter who penned many of the PBC's best loved songs. Alan's musical pedigree is second to none. From his early days on the folk circuit through his time with one of the West Coast's premier psychedelic groups and on to his solo career in the seventies, he crafted a body of work that many musicians would envy. Most of the tracks included here were recorded by Alan between 1967 and 68 at his home studio, using a Teac A1200 tape deck. His employed an innovative DIY approach: he used improvised drum kits made up from household objects and manipulated amps and guitars to create feedback and distortion effects. The remaining tracks from this collection were laid down during sessions at a pro studio, Hollywood Sound, although such is the quality of Alan's home recordings you would be hard pressed to single out which ones were made in more professional surroundings. There are surprising guests such as Glen Campbell, who plays tasty lead guitar on "Freeways Of Love". Alan also collaborates with his friend Knox Henderson (songwriter of some of the hits for Mouse & The Traps) on a couple of tracks included here. Songs like "Shell Of A Man", or "Blowin' My Mind Over You" could've been easily included on any of the Peanut Butter Conspiracy albums, while others like "Summertime Changes" or "Love's Only Sleeping" are amazing examples of homemade, DIY psych-fuzz. Master tape sound; Insert with detailed liner notes by Gary Newell (Shindig!, Ugly Things), track-by-track comments by Alan Lee Brackett and rare photos. LP $28 SKU:18296

OVERSTOCK SUPERSAALE!
GABBARD, ANDY - Fluff - LTD ed of 150 PINK VINYL OVERSTOCK SAALE! (BUFFALO KILLERS- Modern Grunge Fuzz Pop with 60’s aura ) -Label:ALIVE Brimming with creativity, Fluff by Andy Gabbard, his debut release as a solo artist on Alive Naturalsound, isn't moving beyond what Andy has done, or will continue to do with Buffalo Killers. Sometimes, ultimately, you find yourself with extra moments and more ideas than one band can develop. So naturally, it made perfect sense to give that inward creative need an outlet. Fluff is the end result.Cut in one 12-hour studio session, Andy took on the full responsibility of doing a solo album literally. He played every instrument and wrote everything you hear. Reviving an established relationship with Alive Records, on Fluff you can hear the deeply-solid effects of the grunge genre and mid-'90s 'alternative music' in a sonic gestalt. Exhibiting characteristics of fairly recent genres, as well as some classics that surrounded him during his youth, Fluff breaks barriers of seemingly comfortable, unthreatening music cultivating a physical embodiment of Nirvana, The Smashing Pumpkins, latter Beatles and even Brian Wilson!Fluff defines Andy's environment, a creative environment... an environment of ultra-dimensional levels. The days of solo albums being released due to further 'artistic development' past a bands catalog of hits, are over. Buffalo Killers continue their successful run and now, it's not running alone. Fluff is the start of something great and fathers the true sonic beauty and the relative nature of one single person and their soundtrack of nearly unending smiles in a sea of tumultuous frowns. - Shawn Abnoxious LP $5 SKU:16540

FUSION FARM- Rush Job ( 1971 Stooges-like psych)-Label:SHADOKS MUSIC (GERMANY) Shadoks Music present a reissue of Fusion Farm's Rush Job, originally released in 1971. After many years of trying to locate the band to properly reissue Rush Job, a daughter of one of the band members coincidentally found Shadoks through social media. The album originally was very limited release on the S.R.T label with a hand-sprayed cover, very much like Tony Caro & John's All On The First Day (1972). Originals are very rare, fetching high prices on the collectors market. This reissue includes tracks from the rare 1974 single Fat Judy/Gypsy Mountain Woman. Fusion Farm got radio play and played a lot of shows in London and the surrounding cities before heading off to Europe to gig constantly. Germany became a second home, in particular Frankfurt and Munich and they found favor playing at many US army air bases. Fusion Farm played the Frankfurt Festhalle, with a 15,000 capacity, supporting Bad Company and Black Oak Arkansas. This show is infamous because Black Oak Arkansas never showed up and a riot ensued, leaving the venue trashed. The band changed personnel several times but the core of the band and song-writing team of Bob Bett and Normal Ley remained constant. The band split in 1979 to pursue other projects. Rush Job includes snotty, Stooges-like psych songs, with great guitars, drums, cool vocals and bass. Some tracks are dreamy and some are very powerful British underground tunes. CD $18 SKU:18215
SOGGY ST(78 STOOGES/ALICE COOPER STYLE RARITY)- Label:OUTER BATTERY RECORDS "Formed in 1978, Soggy started with covers of Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, MC5 and the Stooges but quickly began writing their own songs and developed a unique style, mixing hard rock and punk rock in a Stooges vein. In April of '81, the Waiting For The War 7" was released and a video was shot for French TV. After more than 100 concerts, the band split in July of 1982 but their cult status has only grown over the years. The French label Memoire Neuve released their record in an edition of just 500 copies and it is now long out of print. Original copies of that LP and the single are now in hot demand in collector circles, with original copies of the single selling for over $200. This release from Outer Battery is the full LP, including the tracks from the Waiting For The War single!" CD $15 SKU:18214
BEST ARIZONA GARAGE BANDS 19670 1970- VA- w 20 page booklet-Label:HDM RECORDS In addition to music that captures a moment in time, the release features a 20 page booklet filled with the story of each of the groups included here along with period photography, show flyers and more. The Arizona music scene during the sixties can easily be likened to its desert surroundings: The monotony of average and sometimes even good bands writing less than good and even average songs. Then one day you hear a band that knocks you out. Those are the kinds of bands that I had the opportunity to discover and produce that suddenly emerged out of garages and other little holes in walls ? wherever they could find a place to converge and create their music. I now have the honor and the privilege to present to you the bands that I think are Arizona's best garage bands from 1967 to 1970.' -- Hadley Murrell. "At an age when most of us were just listening to music, Hadley Murrell got involved. At 14 he started playing drums with The Carnations, and went on to work in radio, as well promoting shows and other live events. Much of what he made went towards studio time to produce the music heard in this collection. Often garage rock is under produced to its detriment. That's not the case here, Murrell recorded at Phoenix's Audio Records, other clients included Dwayne Eddy, Dyke & The Blazers and Waylon Jennings (among many others). And unlike many garage rock sides ? Hadley took his performers into the studio prepared and ready to lay down tracks as hot as the Arizona desert. In addition to music that captures a moment in time, the release features a 20 page booklet filled with the story of each of the groups included here along with period photography, show flyers and more." TONES, LOS- Psychotropic -Label:GROOVIE Psychotropic is Los Tones debut album, released on Vinyl through Portuguese garage label Groovie Records & CD through Off The Hip Records, Melbourne. Mixed and produced by Owen Penglis of Straight Arrows in only a few days out of Owen’s Kings Cross studio & mastered by Mikey Young of Eddy Current Suppression Ring. The record sees the boys continue their garage rock calamity with some subtle hints of early psychedelia & surf rock. Psychotropic features Los Tones debut single Buchanan Hammer and follow up Ordinary Man. We are now psyched to release the title track off the record “Psychotropic”. Los Tones formed in early 2013 from the ashes of Sydney bands, Mother & Son, La Mancha Negra & Glitter Canyon. All 4 members have similar influences spanning from early 50’s RNB, 60’s guitar rock, to modern outfits such as The Black Lips & Night Beats. Psychotropic takes the listener on a short flashback in time, a fast-paced slathering of guitar driven garage gems. Their previous song releases have had plenty of air play in Australia on Triple J & Fbi Radio, as well as overseas, which has resulted in the band opening for acts such as Guitar Wolf (Japan), Los Coronas (Spain), Night Beats (USA), Mark BBQ Sultan(CAN). They will be launching the record with a month-long European tour throughout October, ending with a hometown Sydney Launch on Halloween Eve. LP $18 SKU:16169

In his review of the Pebbles series for Allmusic, Richie Unterberger comments: "Though 1972's Nuggets compilation reawakened listeners to the sounds of mid-'60s garage rock, it only focused on the tip of the iceberg. Behind those forgotten hits and semi-hits lurked hundreds, if not thousands, of regional hits and flops from the same era, most even rawer and cruder. . . . More than any other factor, these compilations [in the Pebbles series] were responsible for the resurgence of interest in garage rock, which remains high among collectors to this day."[SET CONTAINS Vol 1-5 on STARBURST HAND MIXED vinyl COMP LP $65 SKU:17190
