CHILDREN OF THE MUSHROOM- ST Rare garage 60s psych w fold-out colour insert ,liner notes, interviews , rare photos - Label:OUT-SIDER (SPAIN) Remastered sound. Fold-out colour insert with liner notes, interview with the band members, and rare photos.. LP version. Though they only released one 45 during their existence, Children of the Mushroom epitomized the psychedelic garage sound coming out of California in the late '60s. Formed in Thousand Oaks by Jerry McMillen and Dennis Swanson, they evolved from a mid-'60s teen-beat band called The Captives. In 1967, they became Children of the Mushroom, a name which reflected their new psychedelic sound and image. The following year, they caught the attention of a couple of young producers, who signed the band for a 45 release. Recorded in 1968 for Soho Records, August Mademoiselle/You Can't Erase a Mirror is one of the masterpieces from the first psychedelic era: feedback, fuzz, organ, and mysterious vocals. Soon after, the band incorporated a new guitar player, shortened their name to The Mushroom and started playing in a more heavy psych vein, in a similar style to Iron Butterfly. This retrospective album includes both tracks from their monster 45, with sound taken from the master recordings, plus previously unreleased tracks by The Mushroom, recorded in 1968. These are raw, lo-fi home recordings with lots of fuzz guitar and organ. It's the sound of a psychedelic band in 1968 playing free and wild, without any producer or record label executive telling them what to do. An incredible document. LP $24 SKU:16347
CHOCOLATE WATCHBAND- INNER MYSTIQUE - Label:SUNDAZED Psyche fans simply won't be taken seriously without this title in their collections! LP $12 SKU:10579
CIPOLLINA, JOHN((QUICKSILVER MESSENGER SERVICE))-Raven 2LP (69 acid rock) -Label:VINYL LOVERS John Cipollina's Quicksilver Messenger Service was one of the most popular acid rock bands in the nation and Cipollina himself had risen to "guitar-god" status thanks in part to his towering one-of-a-kind amp stack and dual pick-up guitars (now on display at the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame). In fact, in 2003 he was ranked #32 on Rolling Stone Magazine's list of greatest guitar players of all time. By 1976, Cipollina was heading up a new band called Raven featuring a 10-player all-star line-up that included the likes of Greg Douglass (Steve Miller Band), Jim McPherson (Copperhead), Dave Walker (Fleetwood Mac), and Nicky Hopkins (The Rolling Stones). The songs were a mix of originals and well-selected covers and just as they were on the verge of becoming the next big thing the band broke up (but thankfully not before heading into a studio to record an album's worth of material). Some of these recordings eventually surfaced on a German label in 1980, but for the most part remained a little-known chapter in Cipollina's discography. Vinyl Lovers now is proud to bring you an entirely re-mastered and expanded version with 7 new tracks (sides C and D) not found on the original vinyl. LP $24 SKU:17209
CIRCLE BROS- Haven (SHOEGAZE) ltd ed Label:MORC Ltd vinyl version - comes in an edition of 150 copies, with gorgeous screenprinted jackets. LP $10 SKU:11694
CIRCUS - ST 180 gram ( 60s dutch ) SAALE LTD ED OF 500 - Label:PSEUDONYM Black vinyl 180 grams. 350 grams carton sleeve. Japanese plastic bag. Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Herman Brood (Cuby + B) would play piano and Henk Smitskamp (Motions) was approached as bassist/singer. Smitskamp however, chose for After Tea and Brood just did not show up. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance. Although the focus was on instrumental pieces, Circus planned to use a different singer for each song. Hans van Hemert did the "guide-vocal" of Voluntary Peacemaker and Wim Bieler put his teeth in Fairy Tales Of Truth, a long drawn out song full of psychedelia. Circus' groundbreaking sound attracted serious interest from Apple Records, the label of The Beatles. But their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa - recently found in the archives of Hitweek. Since Q65 had split up, but was contractually obliged to deliver one more album, a number of Circus songs landed on the last Q65 LP, 'Revival'. Four decades later Circus presents the original rough working versions, different and sometimes longer than what appeared on 'Revival'. Justice at last, for a band that existed only for a short period, but that made a big impression by their productivity and - above all - creativity LP $24 SKU:13229

COLLINS , PAUL -NERVES) LONG TIME GONE/TO BEAT OR NOT TO BEATLabel:LOLLIPOP Paul Collins' (from The Nerves, The Breakaways) two long lost EPs with his band The Beat from the early '80s make it to Lolipop Records as the first re-issue on all formats in over 30 years, from the "king of power pop" himself. To Beat Or Not To Beat was recorded in New York in 1983 at The Ranch with John Mathias (The Romantics) and Paul Collins/Steven Huff producing. It was released in the U.S. by Jem/Passport Records and then it was later released in Europe on Closer Records France and Dro Records Spain. The single "All Over The World" was featured regularly on KROQ in Los Angeles and got a lot of airplay in France and in Spain. Steve and Paul toured in Europe off that record for several years until they wound up in London where they recorded their follow-up EP Long Time Gone, just before returning to the States. Long Time Gone was released in 1985 on Closer France and Dro Spain, and both records were released as a two-fer on Wounded Bird Records in 2004. Paul recalls those days fondly, "I remember getting an $800 royalty check for 'All Over The World' when I was living in San Francisco so I went out and bought a used green Datsun B210! I would always hum 'All Over The World' as I drove up and down all those hills in SF!" LP $15 SKU:18842
COLLINS, PAUL- The Beat - One Night (1987 Nerves related POWERPOP)-Label:FRODIS Recorded in the twilight of 1987 and released only in Europe, One Night was the fourth full-length release by power-pop legends the Paul Collins’ Beat. Recorded in San Francisco by long-time Van Morrison band member David Hayes, the album saw Collins and co. enhancing their trademark melodies with acoustic arrangements. One Night would prove to be a temporary swan song for the Beat, and the last album to feature original bassist/co-songwriter Steven Huff; by the early ‘90s, Collins had struck out on his own, casting off his band’s moniker until 2006’s Flying High. LP $15 SKU:18146

CD $5 SKU:14227
TERCO - ST (70s Brazilian psych)-Label:DISCOS MARIPOSA Their second album (1972), a landmark of Brazilian progressive/psychedelic rock, in no small part thanks to Luiz Pablo Simas (ex-member of Módulo 1000), who brought his talent and his mini-Moog to the band. O Terço had been working on a new sound for some time, taking part in the 'Aberto para Obras' spectacle in 1970 at the Teatro de Arena do Largo da Cariocafor, the main arena for bullfighting. People wending their way through barbed-wire had to choose between looking at a lower stage, upon which Modulo 1000 was playing, or at an upper stage, where O Terço was playing. Below, a woman prepared popcorn in a stove, and further on, seated in a urinal, the brother of O Terço band-member Jorge Amiden played static on his guitar for three hours, then smashed his instrument to pieces! Participation in this sort of anarchy makes it no surprise that their album kicks off with a hard rock guitar riff, perhaps influenced by King Crimson, Led Zeppelin or even Black Sabbath; even so, other tracks present a blend of symphonic and psychedelic sounds, with beautiful pastoral passages that demonstrate the influence of Os Mutantes, the Moody Blues, and early Pink Floyd. The final track, 'Amanhecer Total' ('Complete Dawn'), is amazing - a nineteen minute collage with a pastoral introduction (and lovely female vocals), vocals, synth lines, acoustic guitars and percussion effects that provide a fine, easy atmosphere; then a psychedelic section, with strange keyboard effects merged with fading voices - dreamy, and ambient; heavy guitar riffs, low-profile keyboards, and aggressive vocals revisit the album's first track; then the finale, with soft piano (revisiting the bucolic origins of the suite) and synthesizer coloring the mantra-like chorus. A grand finale for a great album. Two bonus tracks are from an EP released between the first album and this one." CD $10 SKU:6149
