1-94 BAR gives a 5 star review to the upcoming PAUL COLLINS “Out of My Head” album, saying “By the time the song fades, the 33 minutes of “Out Of My Head” will have evoked enough feelings to tell you that you’ve just heard a classic." Read the full review here.

PAUL COLLINS premieres his new single “Go” via MAGNET magazine - A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it slice of power-pop goodness that’s all skinny ties and fat hooks. 45 years into his career, Collins has mastered this kind of song, and there seems to be no shortage of them inside of him. – MAGNET HERE

NEW ARRIVALS

BREAD, LOVE & DREAMS- ST (60s hippy psych)-Label:HUGO MONTES e first, and perhaps the dreamiest album from these famed hippy psych purveyors (Decca, 1969), who include David McNiven (he wrote all the lyrics for the amazing Human Beast "Volume One" album), and Carolyn Davis from Looking Glass; flowery yet mournful stuff—fragile and introverted songs in minor keys reminiscent of no one—and all of high quality. CD $10 SKU:6243

EDWARDS HAND- ST (UK 60’s psych pop) LAST COPIES - Label:LIGHTNING TREE Rod Edwards and Roger Hand formed this breezy, psychedelic pop outfit after briefly recording as The Picadilly Line. Sadly this album never made it to a British release as their record label folded which subsequently took their EMI deal and UK distributor contract away at precisely the wrong time. This is therefore a genuine lost UK '60's gem that received glowing reviews upon its release in the US. It makes its debut here on CD. Recorded on four track tape at EMI St. Johns Wood in late '68, with Geoff Emerick and George Martin during a break in the sporadic White Album sessions, you can hear the benefits from Martin and Emerick's vast experience, technical skills and orchestral arrangements. There is plenty of swinging London vibes and whimsical vocals here, as well as dreamy vocal harmonies and elaborate electric and acoustic arrangements very much of the era. The Beatles connection is obviously strong, and much of this material is reminiscent of late '60, early '70's Paul McCartney as well as Donovan - with it's chirpy, evocative lyrics, harmonies and warm arrangements - but there is also a late Small Faces / Kinks vibe in their lyrical descriptions of old London Town. Other late 60's comparisons would certainly include Kaleidoscope (UK) and the early orchestrated material by The Strawbs. Reissued with full consent of the producer and band. CD $14 SKU:6317

FIKRET KIZILOK - ST (Turkish 1970-1974 protest singer) Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA Collection of singles by Turkish protest singer much-beloved by young musicians in the underground scene in Tukey, but virtually unknown anywhere else; Fikret started his career playing electric guitar for Cahit Oben Dörtlüsü, which led to appearances in the Golden Microphone song contests that also spotlighted the talents of Erkin Koray, Mogollar and the brothers Hür El; Booklet has notes about the Altin Microphon contests, lyrics, and photos. CD $12 SKU:20153

FIVE EMPREES- Little Miss Sad (1965) -Label:ARF ARF In 1965, the Five Emprees from Benton Harbor, MI scored the regional smash hit “Little Miss Sad“ which broke nationally and is still played on oldies radio today. This authorized, 25-track CD retrospective compiles their complete studio recordings circa 1965–’68. On this disc you find the Emprees' big ticket album, their nine singles, three previously unreleased solid garage tracks recorded in a radio station, plus their previously unheard should-have-been hit “Lurkin” circa 1968. Package includes a 24-page booket chock full of fabulous photos and memorabilia culled from the band’s personal scrapbooks and extensive liner notes by Gary Burns. CD $12 SKU:1604

I DELFINI - ST- (1966 Italian beat) Korean Label:WORLD PSYCHEDELIA Maybe the best beat album to emerge Italy, first issued on Disco CDB in 1966 (?) or 1967; I Delfini (or, "The Dolphins" as it translates) made a pretty good splash in their day, and why not? the lads from Padua wrote tight, punchy songs, had good production values (RCA studios), could sing (always a plus), and threw in a Beatles cover at the end in English, just for kicks; lyrics and band photos in 8-page booklet are great (but where's a band history?). A strong album for beat music lovers CD $10 SKU:20152

LENO -Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney (1971 Brazilian Cream/ STeppenwolf style Label:LION Leno’s “Vida e Obra de Johnny McCartney” was intended as the next musical step after Tropicália, it’s full-blooded rock and roll approach intended to link the music that had already been made to the music that would be played a few years later. This record just might have been that bold step had CBS released it in 1971. But censors banned most of the tracks, and Leno was fortunate (thanks perhaps to his string of innocent sounding Jovem Guarda number one chart hits in Brazil as half of duo Leno e Lillian) not to experience the exile or imprisonment of other artists of the time. He was also fortunate that the master tapes survived in the CBS vaults, making them available for this reissue. The album has a sound that has more to do with bands such as Sly & The Family Stone, the Beatles (post 1967), Cream, and Steppenwolf, and features contributions from music legends Marcos Valle, Raul Seixas (anarchic surrealistic icon of Brazilian counterculture), hard psych rockers A Bolha, and members of Los Shakers and Renato e Seus Blue Caps. One of the most singular records of the 1970’s rock era in Brazil, speaking in terms both historic and musical, with a significance in Brazil that makes people who know it well wonder how it has taken so long to be known worldwide, in a time when the efforts of the Brazilian rock and psychedelic underground scene are so well-documented. A 24-page booklet (packed with photos and lyrics) details Leno’s career, as well as the story behind this exceptional record CD $12 SKU:20090

MIXTURE-The Perfect Relationship w LENNY KAYE) -Label:PINK FRUIT THE MIXTURE is a nuclear blast of reality in a mundane world…. where no one is allowed to be magnificent… And while you’re spinning this sizzling platter, keep an ear out for guitar slinger Lenny Kaye (of the Patti Smith Group and “Nuggets” fame), legendary vocalist extraordinaire P.P. Arnold (the “angel of our moring”!) and Steve Craddock, a man of wealth and taste (Paul Weller, Ocean Colour Scene). Which leaves you, dear sir or madam. Rock and roll music, if you like it, you feel it, you can’t really help but move to it. That’s what happenes to me when I listen to THE MIXTURE. I can’t help it. And neither can you!” —Bennet Freed
On the live front, THE MIXTURE as been tearing it up for the last year, headlining two shows in NYC, as well as playing with the likes of Dave Davies (of The Kinks), Flamin' Groovies, Standells, NRBQ, Midge Ure, Bun E. Carlos (of Cheap Trick) and more. Every live performance brings a dose of rhythm and blues, a pinch of funky dance grooves, a dollop of glam-theatrical escapades and a ton of high energy rock and roll attitude. Come join THE MIXTURE !! CD $14 SKU:20158

MOVING PARTS,THE- Wrong Conclusion (late 70s BOSTON Pere Ubu style)Label:ARF ARF In the late '70s, Boston’s the Moving Parts created intensely challenging, offbeat music. Members Roger Miller, Clint Conley and Erik Lindgren later became the core of Mission Of Burma. This 15-track CD retrospective feat unre material all digitally remixed. For anyone into early Pere Ubu, Wire or Devo. 15 tracks CD $14 SKU:1032

PETE & ROYCE -Suffering of Tomorrow + Days of Destruction(great (and very rare) Greek early 80’s psych prog)-Label:MUSICBAZZ (Greece) First ever official reissue of these two great (and very rare) Greek early 80’s psychedelic progressive albums. A very special limited edition of 500 copies, with a deluxe gatefold silver-foil embossed/textured cover and big art-poster. Led by Panagiotis “Pete” Tsiros, Pete & Royce offered an astounding blend of trippy moods and moves: flashy melodies, hard biting fuzz guitar, night crawling rhythms, mystifying electronic shifts and strange lyrics that could have been from an unknown book of Apocalypsis (as it happens, two key members of top Greek progressive group Apocalypsis were involved in the recordings of Pete & Royce—keyboardist Vasilis Dertilis and vocalist Giannis Palamidas). Both Pete & Royce albums are sought after for their dreamy Pink-Floydian atmosphere, the brilliant vocals and guitars of Tsiros himself, the topnotch fiery interplay of all the participating musicians, especially keyboardist and co-composer Vasilis Ghinos, and the rarer but equally mind-blowing cosmic funk moments. In post-military junta Greece, the mid seventies heralded an explosion in the Greek underground scene. The principal expressions of this phenomenon were the gradual change of several areas in Athens to freak hang-outs. A space for free forms of expression was opened, but the majority of the groups of the era disappeared without leaving any recorded traces. Pete & Royce were one of the few local progressive bands operating in that framework, armed with an uncompromising underground attitude. CD $10 SKU:20154

QUINTAL DE CLOROFILA- O Mistério Dos Quintais (1983 Argentine psych folk )Label:DISCOS MARIPOSA Only album by psychedelic folk duo formed by brothers Dimitri and Negendre Arbo, part of a set of folk groups from Brasil comprised of “gaúchos” (native country people); Quintal de Clorofila is one of the few bands of this sort who got to make a record, which was released by the independent label Bobby Som in 1983. For this LP, Quintal de Clorofila recorded their own compositions, with lyrics by their brother, the poet Antônio Carlos Arbo. According to Dimitri Arbo, the band mixed rock, medieval music, Afro, oriental and Latin rhythms... a blend of music they dubbed "Viking Rock" (not sure why). It’s a complex sound to be sure, with tremendous depth and abundant inspiration evident throughout all of the album’s atmospheric songs. An album much beloved by Hans Pokora—and now by us. Two alternate versions of songs from the album are included as bonus tracks CD $12 SKU:20151

SIENNA ROOT-Far From the Sun Swedish neo psych)-Label: Swedish neo-psych c. 2008.Siena Root is a Swedish rock band with its roots in late '60s and '70s rock music. The group was founded in Stockholm in the late '90s. Their sound is based on heavy organ, howling guitars, bass riffing and big drums. It is also often enriched with bluesy soulful vocals, various guest musicians and psychedelic vibes CD $12 SKU:20156

Based on the ancient Greek myths behind Esperus and Phosphorus, Takis created an instrumental, atmospheric, psychedelic-progressive concept-album featuring a powerful blend of guitars, farfisa organ and flutes. IGL ROCK STORY - VA PART 1 (Iowa 60s garage pop) Label:ARF ARF IGL is an acronym for the Iowa Great Lakes Recording Studio, the first one in that state. When the studio/record label scored big with Dee Jay and the Runaways' "Peter Rabbit" (included here along with other early tracks by the group) after leasing it to a major label, the bands came from all over the state and beyond, hoping lightning would strike for them too. On this sumptuous collection of 31 tracks we hear the first fruits of such studio recordings, capturing the more notable bands from 1965 to 1967. The IGL studio had a crude, echoey sound that made drums sound enormous and vocals reverberate all over the place, but as a scrapbook of the studio's early days and Iowa's mid-'60s output, this collection is invaluable. EL POLEN -Cholo-(S American 1970 trippy psych rock)Label:LION This is an album we've wanted to reissue for years... at long last—together with our friends Repsychled Records from Peru—we can present this masterpiece to you wonderful people out there! The fusion of native folk instruments and trippy psychedelic rock elements produced some of the finest music to emerge from South America in the early 1970’s: Congregacion (and Los Jaivas) from Chile, Arco Iris from Argentina, Wara from Bolivia, and Genesis from Colombia. To this list of excellent bands should be added that of El Polen, a Hippie commune from Peru. El Polen was an artistic group, a group of hippies living in a community and expressing themselves in all levels of art, exchanging ideas, experiences and influences. In late 1969, Juan Luis Pereira, founder of El Polen, had the inspiration to integrate elements of European folk music with Peruvian indigenous music and environmental sounds, such as the sea and the wind. There were six musicians in the loose El Polen ensemble; they were friends with terrific commitment to social causes, both intellectual and revolutionary; they were all for romantic life, living in opposition to the established system, with all these ideals reflected in the music and lyrics. El Polen used mandolin (Beto Martinez) and violin (Fernando Siva) in place of electric guitars; cello (John Sebastian Montesinos) instead of bass; and percussion (Ernesto Pinto) instead of drums. The result was a unique style where violins sounded like fuzz guitars. The year of El Polen was 1972, for that was the year that their debut album, "Cholo" (Virrey, DVS 793)—recorded as the original soundtrack music for a film about soccer player Hugo "Cholo" Sotil developing his career in Europe—was released. The outstanding 11-minute opening track, ‘La Flor’ (the main theme of the film) is a psychedelic acoustic improvisation akin to the music of Brazilian legend Lula Cortez—alone and together with Lailson in Satwa. Other tracks (‘Sitting Dreaming’ and ‘Tondero’ spring to mind), start with Andean folk elements and evolve into long psychedelic excursions. And if you can understand Spanish, lyrics like those in ‘Cholito, pantaloon blanco’ (Cholito, white pants) show the great beauty that can occur from transforming the everyday and the commonplace in something of exquisite beauty. A very strange record with a trancey feel throughout. For many years it was thought that the original reel-to-reel tapes were missing, but luckily it was not true. After a laborious research, our friends at Repsychled found the master tapes, and with them an important discovery: an unreleased track by El Polen featuring vocals by Grammy Award winner, and current Peruvian Minister of Culture, Susana Baca. This special mini-LP sleeve edition comes with a replica ticket for the first El Polen concert (2 April 1971); a replica poster from the 2nd El Polen concert (12 June 1971); and a black and white photo of the band taken in Barranco. A limited, numbered edition of 400 copies, remastered from the original master tapes, available exclusively from Lion Productions. CD $14 SKU:19978

EMMANUELLE PARRENIN- Maison Rose (60s hippie folk)Label:LION We begin by saying that this is an album unlike any other. A bold statement, perhaps. Yet look in the "Scented Gardens of the Mind" book and you will see this description: "a revelation of a folk album, with songs of incredible beauty and innovative arrangements. It features traditional instruments you’ve hardly ever heard before and touches of the avant-garde. Play this album directly after that of another randomly chosen female folk album, and you will notice the difference! This is one of the best!" Parrenin had been part of a traditional "antique folk" movement in France in the late 1960’s (she was in many ways a French equivalent to Sandy Denny or Mandy Morton); indeed, she had recorded eight albums with musicians from this scene before "Maison Rose"—her best, and last album, recorded in 1976 and released the following year. The record seems to alternate between a cosmic take on an ancient Breton sound, and delicate, multi-tracked ballads—ranging from sounds that would not be out of place on an Ash Ra Tempel album to elements of traditional French folk music (including home-made instruments) that are just as exotic. Certainly, the avant-garde edge lurking beneath the simple folkiness of "Maison Rose" puts in mind the explorations of Brigitte Fontaine with her sometime musical voyager Areski; there are also suggestions of the pastoral caranavserai aesthetic of Vashti Bunyan, as well as the multi-track sensuality of Linda Perhacs (to name two much-touted singers who seem to have a similar ability to enchant). But Parrenin has her own style, her music has its own deeply ethereal quality, and the album itself has its own magic spell to cast that renders comparison with other albums unimportant in the end. Magnificent… CD $12 SKU:20095

FLAMES - “Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah” + “That’s Enough(DBL CD LAST COPY! Label:FRESH Throughout the '60s The Flames—featuring future Beach Boy Ricky Fataar along with his brothers Steve Fataar, Brother Fataar and Edries Fredericks— were South Africa's biggest selling band. This double disc set highlights the band's many hits from 1964 to 1966 and includes the "Ummm! Ummm! Oh Yeah" and "That's Enough" albums on Disc 1, and 16 non-album A & B sides singles on Disc 2. This release is a companion to the Retro best selling "Soulfire"/"Burning Soul" reissue. The “Ummm” album (1965) has some nice covers includes two Beatles tracks (‘No Reply’ and ‘Eight Days a Week’), a nice version of ‘You Better Move On,’ and ‘Talkin' Bout You,’ and several others. You have to admire a band like The Flames. An exceptionally talented outfit, the fact they were a non-white group (most of the members were of East Indian extraction), trying to make the big time in apartheid-era South Africa makes them even more special. Records by The Flames are highly collectable, not least because two of their members, Ricky Fataar and Blondie Chaplin, joined The Beach Boys from 1971 to 1973, during which time the albums ‘So Tough’, ‘Holland’ and ‘In Concert’ were made and released CD $18 SKU:19983

ITHACA- Game For All Who Know (Uruguayan 70s rare home recordings folk psych ) Label:LION 16 page booklet and bonus tracks. Incredibly good and extremely rare home recordings from psychedelic-folk masters Peter Howell and John Ferdinando, that had made the AGINCOURT album two years earlier. For the first time from the original master tapes! The addition of three previously unreleased bonus tracks is cause for much rejoicing! The sixteen-page booklet has lengthy band history, lyrics, and rare photos CD $12 SKU:5894

KNOWBODY ELSE - Soldier of Pure Peace (brilliant 60s psych masterpiece )-Label:ARF ARF Hailing from the northeast corner of Arkansas, Knowbody Else was a ground-breaking musical force during the Summer of Love, caught up in the post-Sgt Pepper / Byrds-ian dayglow era. What they created at Ardent Studio in 1967 with legendary Memphis producer Jim Dickinson is nothing short of a truly brilliant psychedelic masterpiece influenced by the times that were a changin’. How these ten unreleased original songs have remained unknown and unheard for 45 years is both a mystery and a crime. Arf! Arf! has worked closely with the Dickinson estate for this authorized release taken directly from the original master-tapes. The music comes wrapped in a luscious, 24-page booklet chock full of photos, memorabilia, and insightful notes by noted artist Glennray Tutor, who witnessed their magic back in the day. CD $14 SKU:14791

LIMONADA -ST (legendary candombe/beat group El Kinto)Label:LION Although they sprung ready-made from of the ashes of legendary candombe/beat group El Kinto, one of the best-kept secrets from Uruguay’s musical mythology is nevertheless the group of musicians who recorded one album as Limonada. So what happened? The story starts with the end of El Kinto, when band leader and iconoclastic maniac Eduardo Mateo decided to embark on a solo career (see our forthcoming Lion Productions collection of his early music for more details), and the other members of El Kinto said “let’s do something together”. And so it was that in the middle of 1970, Limonada recorded their one and only album, “LimoNada” (Sondor 33.111). It is a strange record, with backwards tape splices, abrupt song changes, yet at the same time it is absolutely accessible and very groovy, in a Tropicalia sort of way, which might explain why it was an immediate success. In truth, it’s a profound mystery why the Limonada LP—one of the ten best sellers of its time within three weeks of its release—seems to have vanished from the consciousness of even the most devoted fans of obscure music. Until now, of course. This carefully researched reissue contains the entire Limonada LP (its reissue debut), supplemented by an extended live bonus track. The sixteen page booklet includes historical background on the Uruguayan scene, details of the band’s past, plenty of photos, as well as a brief overview of the legendary Sondor label. MATEO, EDUARDO-Mateo y Trasante 70s Uruguayan masterpiece)-Label:LION If Eduardo Mateo was a genius, and that fact no one who has heard his music doubts, then ‘Mateo y Trasante’ is his masterpiece. Eduardo Mateo, Jorge Trasante and this wonderful album, marginalized during the course of a dictatorship, resisted the dictators, and those who came afterwards. There were some who said that Mateo and Trasante were both crazy, that Mateo could not sing. Mateo and Trasante resisted the vile and ruthless criticism of those skeptics: those who resisted the quality and depth of this record. Mateo and Trasante resisted, immovable, as are those who know that history will have its day of judgment. To paraphrase someone who knew music and much more, for the truth and Mateo, I sign my name here." Daniel Figares, CD $12 SKU:20092

OPHIUCHUS-ST (Grungy 70s psych blues) Label:LION Ophiucus may be the name of an obscure constellation, but it's also the name of a French band that recorded an exceptional album in 1972 for the Barclay label. All the members of the band had already enjoyed ample success in music before musician/actor Emmanuel Booz brought them together in 1971: Jean-Pierre Pouret was a well-known session-man for Sylvie Vartan; brothers Alain and Bernard Labacci released albums as Tom & Jerry, and supported Jimi Hendrix for a TV appearance; Michel Bonnecarrere had founded the band Zoo (one of Andy Votel from the B-Music label’s favorites), and was one of the composers, arrangers and musicians for that group’s first two albums. Apropos of the period, the band members decided to live together as a small family in Flagy, a small town in France, where they lived a happy life, and wrote the tracks which adorn this reissue. This ambitious album somehow manages to blend grungy psychedelic rock, acoustic blues, and densely orchestrated French pop/psych (in an Ilous & Decuyper vein) into an impressive and cohesive whole. Sandy Spencer, cellist and member of Mormos contributed wonderful playing on ‘Ne cherche plus’ and ‘Inachevée.’ This reissue includes the original album plus eight bonus tracks in English meant to be the basis of an international album that was never issued. A fulsome 28-page booklet includes band history and commentaries on the songs written by Ophiucus, photos, lyrics (French and English), and a contemporary review. Not to be missed! CD $12 SKU:20094

SWAMPGAS -ST(1972) Label:Skyf Zol First discovered while opening for the Grateful Dead, Long Island quartet Swampgas were taken under the wing of producer Artie Kornfeld (Wind In The Willows, Woodstock co-conspirator) and set about recording an LP. Due to financial difficulties the album was held up a year, and finally given a cursory release in 1972 (Buddah BDS 5102), by which time the disillusioned band has already broken up. Listening to their sole artifact now, one immediately notices the loose, rural southern-esque vibe considering their northern roots, and the inventive guitarwork of main songwriter Baird Hersey, who continues to make music today as leader of the overtone singing ensemble Prana. Yama & the Karma Dusters-Up From the Sewers (1970 quintessential anarcho-hippie record)-Label:LION Super political, rocking, anti-establishment communal band (c. 1970) put together as a result of the Kent State Massacre. As the Euphoria Blimpworks Band, fronted by Howard Berkman from morose garage punksters the Knaves, they played demonstrations and student strikes when they weren’t opening for blues royalty—or being the first band to play the yard at Cook County Jail. They were inter-racial, anti-war, Stop the Bomb, free love hippies, the wildest of the wild kids. And this is the quintessential anarcho-hippie record, a surprisingly well-engineered indie effort which came inside home-made silk-screened jackets, with twisted, poetic lyrics (Dylan or Arthur Lee and Love? you decide), and funky, rocking bones—political, sociological, ecological, reflective and free-love sexy. The Karma Dusters really cook on the up-tempo tracks, sounding at times like a cross between The Blues Project and Dylan's band circa 1966, augmented by some dazzling violin. This excellent sounding master-tape reissue has two bonus tracks; it also has two booklets—one is for the outrageous and explicit Gonzo history of the band and their urban commune; the other is a wrap-around booklet for lyrics, all served up together in a Mylar plastic sleeve. You just know the FBI has a huge file on these punks. But do they have the album? CD $12 SKU:20098

GARAGEAHOLIC - VA Psychedelic! Outsider Music!-Label:ARF ARF Obscure sixties garage punk and psychedelic rock may be the imprint’s main thrust, but every so often they wander outside such territories and release music that is just plain weird. For those not hip to the Arf! Arf! label, this thirty- track sampler serves as a fine overview of what they’re all about. And for those who have been supporting the record company’s cause all these years, you’re still in for a treat, as how nice it is to have such groovy tunes situated in one place. From the spit and swagger of “I Can’t See You” by The Starlites to the absolutely stupid yet utterly charming “Stinky Poodle” by Tangela Tricoli, here’s a disc that offers something for everybody. On the instrumental front, there’s the acid damaged delight of "Kaleidoscope" from Peter Pan and The Good Fairies and Erik Lindgren’s totally gorgeous version of The Edgar Winter Group’s "Frankenstein," which takes classical muzak to new and improved heights. Erik further shares his talents on “Route 28-American Kids Still Wanna Rock,” a super catchy pop rocker where his inner Rick Springfield meets Bryan Adams is revealed. Charted of shuffling rhythms, The Rising Storm’s “Love Starvation” pays loving homage to Bo Diddley, “Flyte” by The Flowerz pairs social oriented prose with the bracing bite of The Rolling Stones and The Standells, The Legends unveil a dosage of wah-wah battered guitar reflexes on “High Towers” and Changin’ Tymes travel a heavy duty psychedelic route on “Blue Music Box.” A strong Jefferson Airplane influence arises on the rebellious tones of 6 Feet Under’s “Inspiration In My Head,” The Victors turn in a loyal cover of Them’s “Little Girl” and The Litter quake and shake on “Mindbreaker.” Stacked from top to bottom with enjoyable sounds, “Garageaholic! Psychedelic! Outsider Music!” is the best greatest hits album that never was. COMP CD $8 SKU:20009

ANTORCHAS, LAS - ST LAST ONE! ultra-rare 60s Mexican psych w. liner notes, and a poster insert that replicates the Orfeon EP art) - Label:VAM MEXICO Las Antorchas were formed in 1965 by five college students in Mexico City. They released only one EP on Orfeon, but had recorded enough material for an album. They split around 1968/69, but after a line-up change they continued under the name of Antorcha. Thanks to the persistence of VAM Records and record producer Manuel Alvarez Valdez, we now have all known material of Las Antorchas, including their Orfeon material. Their early sounds are rock/beat influenced, with most relying on organ and vocals. But the excellent ‘Dime’ is a really great acid-punk track. Truly underground Mexican rock, waiting to be discovered. This edition has liner notes, and a poster insert that replicates the Orfeon EP art LP $17 SKU:15111
