BUFFALO KILLERS- Alive And Well In Ohio (70s psych style)PROMO -Label:ALIVE CD $3 SKU:19784
HEATH GREEN AND THE MAKESHIFTERS- ST (70s style ala Humble Pie, Joe Cocker) Digipack PROMO Label:ALIVE Heath Green and the Makeshifters aren’t reinventing the wheel. That’s simply not the point. It’s not always about what sounds "new". If you can make music like this, influenced by the artists and sounds of your geographic region, there’s no need to make anything anew. The pieces are scattered in various locations, and these boys pick them up and build something for themselves. We’re just lucky enough to listen in.
Raw rock 'n' soul is back in the Magic City, and all the better for it. God Bless Alabama, its clay, or whatever the hell else it may be that incites these grooves. As long as there’s music to be cut into vinyl from the Deep South, my ears will be there to listen. So should yours. POP MATTERS PROMO CD $3 SKU:19780
HOLLIS BROWN - Ride on the Train digipack PROMO-Label:ALIVE Taking queues from classic pop, rock’n'roll, and Americana, Hollis Brown combines raw rock sensibilities with sweet melodies and hearfelt lyrics to create a rich, warm sound that can fill any room. Principal songwriters Mike Montali (vocals) and Jon Bonilla (lead guitar) grew up listening to the classics. These native New Yorkers were born in the late ’80 s when the city was identified by its grit, passion, and authenticity. The combination of an urban upbringing and throwback musical influences of traditional blues contributed heavily to the band’s sound. However, contrary to most blues-influenced bands, Hollis Brown leans heavily toward melodic pop as well. You’d be hard-pressed to find a Beatles song these boys don’t know by heart, and you can hear it in the music. Classic rock with a New York state of mind, Hollis Brown is a throwback to an era when music felt fresh, songwriting was revered, and performances routinely inspired. DIGIPACK CD PROMO $3 SKU:19781
JAMES LEG- Below the Belt- Label:ALIVE Some of the filthiest, most driving soul/jazz/blues-powered rock 'n' roll since T-Model Ford's debut. - NO DEPRESSIONLeg howls and growls, as he describes his vocal approach in the liner notes, through the hard luck “Nobody’s Fault” (“I blew all my dough / I ain’t got no place to go”), the haunted, smoky (ha) “Drowning in Fire” and the album’s emotional centerpiece, “Drinking Too Much”, which feels especially torn from Small Change‘s tales of booze, denial and regret: “Go on and pack your bags and leave / You tell me that I’m drinking too much. . . / Don’t you think that I know it myself?” With Leg’s desperate, sozzled delivery, the tune is truly heartbreaking. Long live rock and soul and pianos and devil horns. - POPMATTERS DIGIPACKPROMO CD $3 SKU:19779
MOUNT CARMEL - GET PURE (for Radio Moscow fans! PROMO - Label:ALIVE Amid the current industry of cool, Mount Carmel’s lack of gimmick is a welcome anachronism. The trio’s third album “Get Pure” is full of swagger, packed with great songs and inspired performances. This is true rock music like you haven’t heard in years. Crank it up!Mount Carmel reeks of surging guitar riffs and thunderous backbeats. They’re a power trio in the truest sense of the term and certainly nowhere near as anonymous as their cover art would have you believe. As you may have guessed, this is an album for the heavy blues guitar freaks. – 194 CD $3 SKU:19782
RADIO MOSCOW - LIVE IN CALIFORNIA PROMO Label:ALIVE "Their live album displays the band at full strength, featuring them at their psychedelic, groovy best." - ALLMUSICRadio Moscow's new double LP Live! In California was recorded absolutely live (no overdubs) over two nights at The Satellite club in Los Angeles in December 2015. The album features 76 minutes of the trio's unique brand of high-energy psychedelic rock'n'roll. The material is pulled from all their studio albums and the songs feature new arrangements.Live! In California also includes the previously unreleased song "Chance Of Fate," a cover of the '70s band Sainte Anthony's Fyre. CD $3 SKU:19783
RARE MEXICAN MINI LP SLV CDS, ONE ONLY ON THESE!
LOS AMERICAN’S- LO NUEVO DE -ONE ONLY MEXICAN mini LP SLV Label:VAM RECORDS (MEXICO) A terrific album from Los American's (don't hold the incorrect use of the apostrophe against them!), a '60s Mexican group that played straight up British-style beat with occasional forays into a rougher garage sound. Sung entirely en español, the songs include some great covers of classics like "Devil in Her Heart," "So Happy Together," "Till the End of the Day," and "Last Kiss." Other songs include "No me cuentes," "Te conquistaré," "Tú te fuiste," "Son cenizas," "Noche callada," "Probemos otra vez," "Yo soy," Nunca te podré olvidar," "Pienso en ti," and more. CD $15 SKU:19787
LOS GATOS -ST (1967 recordings) ONE ONLY RARE Argentine mini LP SLV Label:RCA Los Gatos is the first studio album by the Argentine band of the same name, released on November 11, 1967 by RCA Vik. After the release of the single "La Balsa/Ayer Nomás", released on July 3, 1967, which sold some 200,000 copies (the first major success of Argentine rock), the RCA company decided to capitalize on its success with the release of the first full-length namesake of Los Gatos, which would see the light of day at the end of that same year. The album included the two songs of the simple, plus ten others composed by Litto Nebbia, voice and leader of the group. The material was recorded in the Studies TNT of Buenos Aires, between April and October of 1967. In 2007, Rolling Stone of Argentina placed it in the 36th position of its list of the 100 best albums of Argentine rock. CD $20 SKU:19788
ORQUESTA-Coatzacoalcos (RARE 1965 big mambo sound) ONE ONLY -Label:VAM RECORDS (MEXICO) This rare album from 1965 features a fantastic big band mambo sound. The original record's notes describe the album perfectly: "This magnificent LP presents danceable music with the flavor of a provincial orchestra. Here we present the formidable Orquesta Coatzacoalcos, whose sound and stupendous rhythm will please you from the first second. In this volume we've selected the best of Orquesta Coatzacoalcos' danceable repertoire, with a focus on the most popular dance numbers that will ensure that your party or get-together will be a huge success." Enough said! CD $15 SKU:19756
ROCKIN DEVILS, LOS –- Esos Fueron Los Días ONE ONLY (1969 recordings)- RARE MEXICAN mini LP SLV Label:ORFEON Los Rockin Devil's was among the earlier lyrical armies on the frontier of the Mexican revolution. The band was formed in Tijuana in 1962, with a series of members from various parts of the country. Like all bands, Los Rockin Devil's started off as a garage band, but grew in popularity as the group played parties, concerts, and several other local events. It didn't take too long before regular requests came pooring in for the entrancing ensemble to play professionally. Los Rockin Devil's frequently played the nightclubs of Tijuana as well as doing a lot of touring about the country. CD $15 SKU:19789
TRIBU, THE - GREAT BRITAINS BEST SELLERS- MEXICAN mini LP SLV ONE ONLY Label:VAM Both the album's title and cover are a bit misleading. You would expect British Invasion and what you get is Spanish-language covers of mostly American artists in a hard-hitting soul style with tight horns and driving back beat and there ain't nothing wrong that! The album starts with a cover of James And Bobby Purify's "I'm Your Puppet (Cuando Vuelves)" and includes other great numbers like Al Wilson's Northern Soul classic "The Snake (La Víbora)," and "Funky Broadway (Frío y Alocado en Broadway)." The album explores some other styles as well with great success. It gets pretty rockin' sometimes, as on their cover of Big Brother And The Holding Company's "Combination of the Two (Combinación de Dos)," which also features some insane stereo panning on the drums! There's also an incredibly funky and convincing cover of Sly & The Family Stone's "Sing a Simple Song." Most definitely worth checking out! CD $15 SKU:19786

MOTHERS ANGER-ST -(SEATTLE PSYCH)PROD BY MICHAEL DAVIS OF THE MC5!-Label:DIONYSUS The Mother's Anger is a two-piece psychedelic punk band from Seattle, WA that incorporates Middle-Eastern melodies and Drum n' Bass rhythms into a heavy, danceable, dream-like adventure. The Mothers Anger is a two-piece band from Israel that sounds like a five piece band from Detroit. Could this be because the debut full length by Drummer/Vocalist Jimi and Guitarist/Vocalist Stitch was produced by bassist Michael Davis of legendary Detroit rockers The MC5? You read that right, a two piece band in which the guitarist tunes a few strings to play the bass and guitar parts simultaneously, enters the studio with a producer who happens to be a famous bass player (and also plays on a track!). CD $4 SKU:19778

ONE ONLY- LAST ONES, wont be restocked!
BUFFALO KILLERS- Dangerous Highway: A Tribute to the Songs of Eddie Hinton Vol. 4 PIC SLV - Label:SHAKE IT A scene that always sticks in my mind is Dylan on the back porch of Muscle Shoals studio, trading licks on acoustic guitar with Eddie Hinton. They buddied up & for a while were inseparable. How strange & wonderful to remember Bob Dylan & Eddie Hinton as soul brothers - two poets, one world renowned, the other known only to a few friends, neighbors & fans, both riveting artists, both brilliant. - Jerry Wexler. 45 RPM $10 SKU:14556
CALICO WALL- I'M A LIVING SICKNESS / FLIGHT REACTION - RED VINYL 1967-Label:GET HIP The Calico Wall’s music transcended their short-lived rise in 1967 and defined the term “psychedelic” in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The band’s definitive single “I’m a Living Sickness,” with its ominous organ intro, fuzz-drenched tremolo guitar, snarling vocals and intense lyrics, had only seen the light of day as a limited bootleg pressing—until now. 45 RPM $12 SKU:18768
CHEMISTRY SET -(COLOR # 1) Kiss Me Vibrate and Smile gatefold ltd ed.-Label: FRUITS DE MER A new 7" single from The Chemistry Set, one of the key bands behind the late 80s neo-psychedelic movement (they were championed by the likes of Tony Wilson and John Peel). After the small matter of a 17 year break, the band re-formed, and this is their second single on Fruits de Mer since they returned to the fray. Combining two new new songs and a cover of a 80s psych classic, this release oozes sheer class through every orifice, as does the band. Give it a listen - and do your part to ensure there are no more 17 year hiatuses (hiati?) You know it makes sense (which is more than than this press release is achieving so far). Limited to 800 copies - two colour vinyl versions (no CDs or downloads). Released on Fruits de Mer Records' Regal Crabomophone label. Gatefold sleeve. 45 RPM $10 SKU:14543

CIRCUS (NL) -Medusa (unreleased 1968 single w orig artwork) SALE-Label:PSEUDONYM BW MOTHER MOTHA'S GREAT SUNDANCE. From the ashes of Q65 rose Circus, featuring guitarist Frank Nuyens and drummer Jay Baar. This is their unreleased 1968 single that sees the daylight for the first time, including the original artwork. Circus had everything to become the first Dutch super band, along the lines of a.o. Cream and Blind Faith. In January 1968 guitarist and composer Frank Nuyens and drummer/lyricist Jay Baar rose from the ashes of Q65. Mark Klein (James Mean) joined as keyboardist, Frank Verhoef became the bassist/singer. With them, Nuyens and Baar made the first recordings. Later they went into the studio with producer Hans van Hemert, for the complex basis of Mother Motha's Sundance, ment as B-side for the single 'Medusa'. Eventually their recording career never went beyond a test pressing of the single Medusa/Mother Motha's Sundance, as found in the archives of Hitweek. The single was shelved, but a sleeve for the original 45 was apparently printed and recently found in archive. 45 RPM $10 SKU:15567

REP, MIKE AND THE QUOTAS-Hellbender 1975-78 (rare Velvets/Elevators style)Label:HOZAC "Central Ohio is far more of a schizophrenic hotbed of rock than the Library of Alexandria would lead you to believe. If you squint your eyes past the big city lights & skyscrapers (Rep likes to call them 'DIEscrapers'), you can see the outlines of the fertile Ohio Valley Crescent from which much Midwest D.I.Y. Punk emerged in the aftermath of a late-60's/early-70's gestation period. When digging into the Columbus strata of petrified 70's fossil-rock pure Columbus area underground entities bubble up from the deep: Jim Shepard, Ron House, Tommy Jay, Nudge Squidfish, The Quotas, Screaming Urge... many more. It seems that in some way or another Mike Rep has been intertwined with, 'Lovingly Fucking With', melding with, accompanying and/or leading the charge with many comrades in arms into the hipster Ohio Hell unknown for 40+ freaking years. Describing the allure of the mid-70s Ohio sound to the uninitiated isn't too difficult. Take the freaked-out post-13th Floor Elevators to Velvet Underground to Stooges to RFTT/Pere Ubu barbed wire bop and compound those influences with the dawn of home recording equipment access, a D.I.Y scene began to evolve. Just the right mixture of humidity, THC & malt liquor-fueled a primal pool ripe for spontaneous generation producing much fruit from apparent sterile soil as viewed from the overlook of big city coastal-dominated Hipsterism. Rep's homemade debut single 'Rocket To Nowhere' was recorded in 1975/'released' in 1978 and nobody noticed for the next ten years. Add to that the incredible Grim-O-Comix Sequence LP packed with angst ridden 1974 basement recordings (you need to drop everything and track it down if you haven't heard this unblinkingly look into the maw of the 70's loser teen maelstrom). HERE & NOW, on Hellbender you get a full primal serving of mostly previously unheard chaos, recorded between '75 and '78, that will no doubt cause future generations to marvel at just how one could be so brutally honest, raw, and wasted yet, live to chronicle it all. Hozac Archival is bringing these sounds to you now. Why? Because it IS the kind of mind-numbing, eyeball-popping guttural pure D.I.Y. rock & roll that saved so many miserable souls from succumbing to the 'American Dream' sham, and continue to inspire the D.I.Y. spirit in all who care to dare. Mike Rep & The Quotas / Hellbender- Very rare, mostly previously unheard recordings from 1975-78, very recently gleaned straight from the long thought lost original reel-to-reel master tapes." LP $16 SKU:17929

TOP LEVEL 60'S PSYCHPOP SONGS One of Hollands greatest, unheralded bands, the Ro-d-ys hailed from the small village of Oude Pekela, in the northeast province of Groningen. From this remote rural outpost, carved out of the regions peat bogs, the Ro-d-ys burst forth onto the Dutch music scene in 1967 with a uniquely original sound that was always several steps removed from the rest of the beat music pack. Take Here Home: The Philips 45s is a magnificent double-album collection, presenting all of the Ro-d-ys A- and B-sides of their 45rpm releases in their original mono mixes, along with an array of bonus tracks, including choice selections from their Just Fancy and Earnest Vocation LPs, hard-to-find obscurities like Tomorrow and a previously unreleased version of Flowers Everywhere. CYNICS-NO PLACE TO HIDE - PURPLE VINYL`Label:GET HIP BW / HARD TIMES 1985 was a transitional year for the Cynics. Michael Kastelic had joined the band, replacing original vocalist Mark Keresman, who appeared on their debut single, “Painted My Heart” b/w “Sweet Young Thing,” which came out that year. While the band continued with a sound that combined the dreamy aspects of the West Coast’s Paisley Underground with vintage ’60s garage rock, Kastelic unleashed a new, wilder element in the band. A dynamic performer, he had a tendency to wail, and nowhere was that more apparent than on the band’s sophomore single, the original “No Place to Hide,” backed by a cover of “Hard Times,” originally recorded by the Century’s in 1966. 45 RPM $10 SKU:18767

SALEM’S POT- LURAR UT DIG (STONER PSYCH)Label:RIDING EASY Mired in drug-derived riffing and classic horror/exploitation ambience, Swedish four-piece Salem’s Pot have plenty of scummer groove in common with Electric Wizard on their debut, …Lurar ut dig på prärien, but if worshiping at the altar of Sabbath and drawn-out fuzz was a crime, we’d all have been put to death years ago. Their reverential depravity comes through in the three extended tracks, “Creep Purple” (14:28), “Dr. Death” (9:52) and “Nothing Hill” (9:12), and the album unfolds in a haze of degenerate psychedelia. racklist
