From inception the three members, guitar-vocalist Jason Simon, bassist Steve Kille, and drummer Mark Laughlin set out to fuse their love of 70's hard rock ala Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Hawkwind and Black Sabbath with their own fantasy visions of strange lands as well as a good dose of punk energy and more recent influences such as Spiritualized, Jane's Addiction, and Bardo Pond. DEBRIS - STATIC DISPOSAL (70s acid punk ) -Label:ANOPHELES The band were said to be high on acid when they recorded this in Oklahoma in 1975; not surprising then that the result is demented avant-garde proto-punk psychedelia, with modulators and synthesizers, a vibraharp (and more) utilised to good effect; the album is now considered a pivotal mid-70s effort from the American private press underworld, and as such has been hailed in Ugly Things, The Acid Archives, and MOJO (a Jon Savage favorite). And why not? It’s a record which has inspire bands from the Screamers to Nurse With Wound. Debris’ are now seen as one of the most important proto-punk bands of the era, too often snubbed by punk historians who don't want to rewrite their historical templates. This updated second printing features the original album tracks, carefully transferred from the master tapes, plus 40 minutes of unreleased basement recordings from the band's own Subterraneous Static Disposal office in Chickasha, OK in 1975-6. Detailed 28-page booklet has also been updated, and includes extensive notes which detail the band's own first hand experiences. Destroy All Monsters are known by some for their role as a bastion of resistance of Detroit's rock; for being, during their second period, the band in which Ron Asheton would reappear. For others, they are a pivotal reference point in the copious but relatively unknown avant-garde underground from the same city, after Thurston Moore and Byron Coley dug up their first recordings in 1996 and the original line-up reunited. Destroy All Monsters comprises two complementary and interconnected poles throughout the saga of the Motor City's music scene, from the University of Michigan's Cooperative Studio for Electronic Music to The Stooges, through to the White Panther Party. DEVIANTS, The / MICK FARREN-4 CD BUNDLE-Label:ALIVE As a member of U.K. band the Deviants beginning in the ’60s, Mick Farren was among the first to make music that would later be described as proto-punk. As a flamboyant writer for NME in the ’70s, he helped document the punk movement. He also authored dozens of books, including both fiction and nonfiction.
The Deviants, originally Social Deviants, formed in London in 1967 and released three influential albums — Ptooff!, Disposable, and 3 — by the end of the decade. Farren’s solo debut, Mona: The Carnivorous Circus, followed in 1970. Farren’s many books included four on Elvis Presley, plus a ’60s counter-culture memoir titled Give the Anarchist a Cigarette. Farren’s writing was compiled as a career-spanning anthology, Elvis Died For Somebody’s Sins But Not Mine, this year via Head Press.
On June 19, 1976, NME published Farren’s “The Titanic Sails at Dawn,” which would prove prophetic about punk. “The iceberg in this case seems to be one of a particularly threatening nature,” Farren wrote. “In fact it is an iceberg that is drifting uncomfortably close to the dazzlingly lit, wonderfully appointed Titanic that is big-time, rock-pop, tax exile, jet-set show business.”
As Uncut notes, Farren’s connection with the underground music went beyond his writings and recordings. He worked a doorman at the club UFO in 1967, and the Deviants opened for Led Zeppelin in the latter band’s early days. As a songwriter, Farren lent lyrics to Hawkwind and Motörhead. He organized the 1970 Phun City Festival in Sussex, England, featuring the MC5 and William Burroughs. He was also vocally political, marching against the Vietnam War in London in March 1968 and forming the London wing of the White Panthers.

Led by harmonizing brothers Chip and Tony Kinman, the group played short, aggressive songs with political lyrics, often from a socialist viewpoint. During the group's four years of existence, it only released three 7-inch singles; all of their albums were posthumous, culled from the singles and various live performances. DOMNICKS - Super Real (Stems DM3 Someloves etc digipack Label:CITADEL Their debut album Super Real marks a coming of age for The DomNicks. Forged by Perth based Dom Mariani and Nick Sheppard, the band is a powerful blend of swagger 'n' roll rock, soul and pop smarts. Mariani is best known as the driving force behind The Stems, DM3 and The Someloves, while Sheppard's pedigree boasts 80's Bristol punks The Cortinas and thereafter as Mick Jones' replacement in the 1983-86 line-up of The Clash. FUSE - ST ( 70s rock with 2 future members of Cheap Trick!) -Label:FLAWED GEMS This forgotten US band made a little-known, but great album for Epic in the early 1970's and is mostly remembered for including Rick Nielson and Tom Peterson, two future members of Cheap Trick. The album is an amazing late '60s hard rock/early metal recording inspired by the early progressive movement, with plenty of heavy, but catchy guitar riffs and classical-influenced Hammond and mellotron passages against the very solid rhythm section. Why have there never been more all girl rock'n'roll bands? I guess by virtue of when The Runaways formed, and their style of music, they are often linked with the new wave / punk scene, whatever category you feel obliged to stick then in, they play a pretty nifty show.

SABATTIS - Warning In The Sky (68 heavy psych)-Label:OUT-SIDER Housed in a new cover design,Remastered from the original tapes, Including an insert with rare photos and liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It s Psychedelic Baby). Sabattis were an underground hard-rock band from New York formed in 1968 by Jim Marvin (guitar & lead vocals), Gary Culotta (keyboard and vocals), Larry Wegman (drums) and Rocky Kaler (bass). Influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Mountain and Grand Funk, they gigged around town playing lot of psychedelic clubs and venues. In 1970, they recorded a demo with the intention of securing a record deal which never came. The demo tape was in fact a fully finished album recorded and engineered by a friend from the band, Mick Gauzaski, who despite using a homemade studio, managed to obtain a real pro sound. No wonder Mick is now a multiple winner Grammy award! The Sabattis demo remained unreleased until 2011 when Jargon Records discovered the tapes and put out a CD edition with the band involvement.Sabbatis sound is powerful heavy-psych sound with swirling Hammond organ and hard guitar which brings to mind other obscure acts like Jungle LP $26 SKU:16784

Until now, Shock were a total mystery. They only released one 45 back at the time (the killer acid-fuzz punker "No se puede ser Superman") and nothing was known about the band...Prior to their 45 release, they recorded a whole album which was never released. Shock's music is underground garage-psychedelia with crude acid-fuzz guitar, effects and English vocals The album features ten songs including the original versions of the two tracks later re-recorded for their only 45: "No se puede ser Superman" (titled here "I'm being mad", it's a different and superior English sung version) and "I want to laugh" (a longer version than the one included on the 45).
