In the fall of 1966 the members moved to the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where the single 'Times Passed' b/w 'A Man Who's Lost' was issued. The two songs were recorded at WCBN college radio with producer Joe Doll, known for his pioneering psychedelic radio programs. Through the years the band's 1967 single has earned acclaim with collectors worldwide. HOLIDAY, JIMMY -SPREAD YOUR LOVE - The Complete Minit Singles 1966-1970 Label:KENT SOUL A soul singer whose success as a recording artist never matched his success as a songwriter, Jimmy Holiday is best-known for penning "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" along with Jackie DeShannon and Randy Myers. By the time that song appeared in 1969, Holiday had been grinding away at the soul circuit for over a decade, a trek that culminated in a hit in 1963 with "How Can I Forget" and then a contract with the New Orleans-based R&B label Minit in 1966. BLUE ASH - ABRACADABRA -70s POWER POP-Label:YOU ARE THE COSMOS BW (HAVE YOU SEEN HER?) / HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE`` In 1972, Blue Ash signed a production deal with Peppermint Records of Youngstown, Ohio. This was the classic Blue Ash line-up of Frank Secich, Jim Kendzor, Bill “Cupid” Bartolin, and David Evans. We made our first demos in June of 1972, which included “Abracadabra (Have You Seen Her?),” and Peppermint sent them out to all the major labels, resulting in Mercury signing us in late 1972. Our deal with Peppermint gave us two free days of recording every month for five years. So every month we would lay down demos of our new songs for copyright purposes, demo references, and to hear what they sounded like on tape. FINCHLEY BOYS- Everlasting Tributes DELUXE DOUBLE CD (70s heavy psych )Label:REACTION Parasol Label Group's reissues imprint, Reaction Recordings, is thrilled to announce the long-overdue deluxe 2xCD and digital reissue of The Finchley Boys' 1972 album, "Everlasting Tributes." For those who don't know, it's a great wasted heavy psych record, featuring cuts like their hard-rocking reinterpretation of the Kinks song ‘I'm Not Like Everybody Else’, the superb ‘It All Ends’, and the best cut for me, the anti-establishment anthem ‘Restrictions’. This is the only album ever released—and it’s a good one—by this band from Champaign, Illinois. Known for their great live shows and theatrical antics, including some stage work with a live boa constrictor five years before Alice Cooper made it famous, the Finchley Boys were ahead of their time. They started recording in the fall of 1968 and throughout 1969, but those songs would not be heard until the release of "Everlasting Tributes." Although the original album has been bootlegged many times over the decades these pirated releases delivered poor sound quality. This, the first official, definitive, band-authorized CD/digital release for the Finchley's material, was carefully restored from the original master tapes. Considerable time was then spent remastering the tracks to bring them up to modern day standards. The deluxe 2xCD package features a second disc of bonus tracks, entitled "Neverending Tributes," which includes a recently rediscovered trove of recordings from 1968-1969. The sole album from unhinged UK psychedelic mod rock outfit John's Children, recorded in 1966, right before Marc Bolan joined the band. Produced by The Yardbirds' manager Simon Napier-Bell, who referred to them as "positively the worst group I'd ever seen," John's Children's debut LP was shelved for three years due to its then-unthinkable title, Orgasm, and released only in 1970, on the US White Whale label. Acclaimed by many as precursors of glam rock for both their theatrics and music, John's Children quickly disbanded in 1968, leaving behind a half-dozen singles ranking among the most collectible British '60s rock artifacts ever. Jokers Wild recorded three singles between 1967 and 1969 in Minnesota but the complete album, Liquid Giraffe, was never released. Starting as a five man band, most of the material was recorded by the three main members: Lonnie Knight, Denny Johnson and Pete Huber. Lonnie Knight became guitarist of The Litter for a while but he returned to Jokers Wild. Jokers Wild was a powerful band - Huge amp stacks guaranteeing a "wall-of-sound" on stage, double bass drum and cool outfits. They must have been great on stage. Damin Eih, A.L.K. and Brother Clark wrote: "In '67 I saw two local bands that again amped up the juice, The Litter and Jokers Wild. Both bands played original music and had excellent psychedelic-raved guitar players, Zippy Caplan (Litter) and Lonnie Knight. That brought everything to a new level." KISSING SPELL - Los Pajaros ( S. American West Coast style 70s psych ) Label:ACME Reissue of one of the best and most sought after South American psych albums (1970), remastered from the original stereo master tapes. So it's not the guitar rave-up record many expect from South American psych. Instead, it's West-coast styled introspection from Chile, more akin to We All Together (if you need another South American reference point) at times than anything else. Well-crafted songs with an attractive dreamy quality enhanced by spacey effects, occasional bursts of well-handled fuzz guitar, and strong harmonies; sticker text likens it to the Zombies “Odyssey & Oracle”… not sure I hear that, but it’s an excellent album to be sure.
