Original copies in good condition change hands for up to $2000 and there are certainly a few not so official reprints on vinyl and CD out on the market which do not even come This is the real thing for those who still miss the melodies and atmosphere of the late '60s and very early '70s when people had a dream of a peaceful world and who enjoy early German cosmic kraut rock like Amon Düül II, Organisation (later to become Kraftwerk), the debut album by Tangerine Dream and more obscure stuff but also international bands like Pink Floyd, Gong, Twink and Hawkwind just as an East Asian version. LINDAHL, PETER- PSYCHEDELIC SWEDEN (60s 70s style) Label:TRANSUBSTANS Peter Lindahls musical journey: "It was back in the early seventies, in those happy days of experimentation when everyone was jamming together at home or at open air festivals that things really took off for me, in the sense of my being creative. It was the age of hippies, of freaking out and of radical movements intending to change society over night. But with me it was just a lot of fun and fooling around with every way of expression I could find, among these the most vital ones being art and music." This is how Peter Lindahl describes his artistic upbringing during the feverish seventies. Many years later , in the nineties Peter has gained recognition with his project In the Labyrinth. The material presented on this CD holds almost no similarity to In the Labyrinth and is more of a compilation of Peters musical experimentation from themid-sixties to the late nineties, although most of the tracks were recorded during the early seventies. "Psychedelic Sweden" is a musical reflection of when Peter had joined up with the alternative community which was growing rapidly in Sweden in the late sixties and he started to take in more psychedelic stuff, his favourites at the time being Tyrannosaurus Rex, Pugh Rogefeldt and Pink Floyd. SMITH, CRAIG - (MAITREYA KALI) APACHE-INCA(1969 psych weirdness)Label:Maitreya Apache Music The first ever official release of Craig Smith's psychedelic folk masterpiece 'Apache-Inca'. In 1972, after changing his name to Maitreya Kali, Craig compiled and custom-pressed two LPs documenting his musical journey from 1967-72, including tracks with the Penny Arkade. Combined into a double album set, 'Apache-Inca' was given away or sold hand to hand on the street before Maitreya... and Craig... disappeared into the shadows. Only a handful of original copies are known to exist. The last time one was offered for sale, it went for over $10,000. Pirate copies routinely sell for over $400. WHITE RABBIT DYNAMITE- PSI(heavy psych Hendrix Led Zep style)Label:WHITE DWARF Heavy psychedelic rock in the tradition of early '70s rock. Influences such as Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Jimi Hendrix can not be denied. But they also draw influences from stoner rock, as well as elements of krautrock and impress with long jam passages without drifting out of hand. With jazzy drums, rolling bass lines and floating guitar riffs their songs tell stories. The pieces rarely are shorter than six minutes. CHAMPIGNONS- PREMIERE CAPSULE(1972 prog psych)Label:RETURN TO ANALOG Excellent mostly-instrumental combination of prog and psych served up by Champignons, a tight and experimental band from Québec. Released in 1972, 'Premiere Capsule', resplendent in its trippy day-glo mushroom sleeve, is a succession of seven guitar driven original compositions that manage to maintain any incredibly high standard from start to finish. All the tracks are superb, but several in particular stand out including the 11-minute experimental jam, 'Le Chateau Hante' (The Haunted Castle) and two instrumental numbers, 'Folies Du Mercredi' and 'Pop-Pino'. There is extremely good fuzz guitar throughout, as well as some exceptional flute solos courtesy of flautist Emile Naud. Hugely enjoyable and highly recommended LP $25 SKU:22141

CHOOSERS- ST ( 70s style Japanese powerpop)Label:BACHELOR You surely know that Japan is crazy for powerpop in any direction, they just LOVE it, the bubblegum or '70s blended, the rocking and rolling type, the kind of that make your hearts explode (sic!)... and of course there are hundreds of powerpop bands there - and MOST of them are actually pretty good, but few stand out, and The Choosers are definitely in the Top 3 LP $22 SKU:22280

DIE ERSTE MENSCHEN- APOCALYPSE NOW & THEN(BFTG style garage) Label:BACHELOR f you have the slightest interest in series like TEENAGE SHUTDOWN or BACK FROM THE GRAVE you get crazy for this. If you have records of bands like (early) BLACK LIPS, HYPSTRZ, HENTCHMEN and such and like to play them over and over - DIE ERSTEN MENSCHEN are the thing you should ask for in your records shop.
