FORD’S FUZZ INFERNO - Deniers of Fuzz Will Be Executed -SAALE!Label:SUBUNDERGROUND This release marks the surprising return of Dutch singer and guitarist Hans F. Ford, following nearly 17 years of silence! Never mind his previous lo-fi/psych project Ford's Imaginary Inferno, 'cos with Ford's Fuzz Inferno he revisits his punk roots! (Hans was a member of early '80s hc-unit Waste and '90s freak punks Betty Ford Clinic.) For the occasion he is joined by his friend Patrick Delabie (a.o. Scoundrels, Betty Ford Clinic and owner of the renowned Studio 195) on drums. The duo's super explosive debut-EP offers five short, ultra catchy blasts that bridge the gap between fuzzed-out garage-punk and early hardcore. And as a bonus there's an almost 3-minute freak-noise jam! This limited DIY-style edition comes with white labels, a paper inner sleeve, a plastic protection bag and a folder cover featuring artwork and lyrics.
"Musically, imagine Mudhoney at their fuzzed-out best, in a snotty, sneering collision with the Angry Samoans... trust me, it works really well. This is a great record and you really need to hear it!" - Fear And Loathing (UK online fanzine)
"This release manages the tricky ability to sound both classic/vintage and at the same time, contemporary and vibrant. It's fast, moderately heavy and catchy as fuck." - Issue (#114 - UK punkzine) 45 RPM $10 SKU:24724
REVERBERATIONS -- GONE WAY/MY THIRD EYE (garage psych)Label:ROGUE RECORDS Following in the long tradition of Pacific Northwest garage-psychedelia, The Reverberations have been spreading the love of fuzz, 12-string jangle, pounding drums, and Vox organ across Portland and far beyond for the last 7 years. After one cassette, two LPs and four singles on US and European labels, this is their first release since 2020. 'Gone Away' is a bouncy rude number straight from the garage, and the psych-pop flip, 'My Third Eye' suggests searching inward, while rockin' outward. 45 RPM $14 SKU:25144
ABSTRACTS - Hey Let’s Go Now (60s Brit invasion style) Label:BREAKAWAY The Abstracts from Long Island, N.Y. are best known for their classic song 'Always Always'. As one of the first US bands to create an American answer to the British Invasion, their songs were already written and a master plan already in the works when the Beatles started their meteoric rise in the US. But like many of the first wave UK beat bands, The Abstracts were together only for a little more than two years and split when rock and roll moved into a direction that wasn't theirs. Though during this short period, with their storming and ingenuous beat, they recruited a huge following and accomplished a great deal. They were one of the first bands to utilize a light show and besides their sole 45, their legacy contains a cache of unreleased period recordings, some of them made for Columbia Records in 1964. Finally, over four decades later, this album collects the bands entire studio material alongside two excellent sounding 1966 live tracks. An in-depth insert with a wealth of never-before-seen-photos traces the history of the band that brought "Abstractmania" to the New York area in the sixties CD $12 SKU:24265
ASTRAL SON - Mind’s Eye (Cosmic Dutch neo-psych ) Label:SULATRON The third album by Dutch neo-psych solo-artist Astral Son once again is full of cosmic soundscapes, progressing into psychedelic tracks with plenty of far-out elements. 'Minds Eye' basically sounds like a logical continuation of Astral Son's previous album 'Silver Moon' and is arguably (even) better! If you enjoyed this space cadet's first two excursions, you'll definitely love 'Mind's Eye CD $14 SKU:21564
BLUES PILLS - one only LADY IN GOLD -with LIVE BONUS DVD -60s psych style w Original Radio Moscow member) Label:NUCLEAR BLAST Musically BLUES PILLS contains all the elements to create extraordinary music that sounds original but respects the long-held rules of the blues and rock'n'roll traditions. The psychedelic sounds of the band may hail back to the prosperity of the '60s and '70s and it's true that their distinctive sound includes a few ingredients of the past; a pinch of late '60s Americana, a sprinkling of blues, a heavy serving of rock'n'roll and a big squeeze of soul, but it's all shaken up into a brand-new cocktail of sound. CD $15 SKU:21462
BRADLEY, SID- CHILD OF THE SEA (70s psych pop/ proto power pop)Label:GUERSSEN Lost and found studio recordings (1971-79) by US singer-songwriter Sid Bradley including some of the sought-after 45 sides released with his band Erik in the early '70s plus fabulous previously unreleased tracks. HARBINGER - Second Coming - 60s loner folk -Label:GUERSSEN The beyond rare second album released by loner/downer folk legend Dave Bixby, recorded around the same year as his first one, the now famous "Ode to Quetzalcoatl". HOPKINS,RICH& the Luminarios -Exiled on Mabel St. Label:BLUE ROSE The latest studio album, ‘Exiled on Mabel St’, is his first for three years. CD $18 SKU:25863
HOPKINS,RICH& the Luminarios --Back To the Garden (godfather of Desert rock)Label:BLUE ROSE The band has generated a lot of comparisons with Neil Young and Crazy Horse but the record lays claim to a wider array of styles – desert rock, folk rock, early Byrds jangle, even psychedelia. CD $15 SKU:25864
KARAKORUM-PRISON BITTERNESS (1970 prog stoner rock)Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)The only surviving 1969 studio demos of this important underground band. Keith Moon raved about them, they were known for their live reputation. Karakorums sonic inner space inevitably conjures up images of heavy cannabis and marijuana usage. The band lock into darkly introverted grooves, with complex patterns, eastern influences, and left field lyricism and vocal, heavy guitar led tracks and the use of wah-wah. They were ultimately uncategorisable, poetic, and this album needs multiple plays to connect to. CD $20 SKU:24927
KILLERS-Good Bye (1967 uruguayan rock)Label:RECORD RUNNER First reissue of one of the main albums from the Uruguyan music scene of the 1960’s/1970’s; within the rock movement in Uruguay in the late sixties, the Killers (Los Killers) were proudly the most professional band in the rock music scene; they started out in 1967, playing cover songs of bands like Bloodrock (or “Bloody Rock” as it says here) on their ultra hi-tech gear; they recorded the Jesus Christ Superstar theme as a single, as well as ‘Woodstock’ for the Discodromo TV show, both included here among the five excellent bonus tracks; then came “Good-Bye”, the band’s one and only LP (Sondor, 1972), on which the Killers sung in English their own compositions, aside from Stephen Stills’ ‘Love the One You’re With’ and ‘Born to Wonder’ by Rare Earth; the Killers were headed for exile in Spain—thus the album’s title—pushed out of Uruguay by the repressive military regime that would take full control of the tiny nation in 1973 and end the careers of most of the bands which stayed behind. CD $15 SKU:25860

LIFEBLUD - ESSE QUAM VIDERI(1970 folk /prog) -Label:SEELIE COURT 380 copy limited edition first pressings in mini card gatefold sleeves, from Glass Masters (not cdrs)
Ultra rare serene folk inflected progressive rock. Cherry Red used one song from a poor condition acetate on a recent compilation. 3 acetate copies were made in 1970, and Seelie Court used the only surviving near mint LP that's owned by an ex-member as source with great audio. The songs Oakenshade' and 'Waxing Of The Moon' are poetic genius, using a guitar with a damaged bridge to create a sitar like drone, the vocals have an air of resigned melancholia, and the lyrics connect with a mystical understanding of and reverence for nature. Issued with the full cooperation of all the band. Lifeblud later explored a heavier sound that sometimes hits the level of High Tide. CD $19 SKU:24824
LOVELY EGGS-I Am Moron(heavy psych/pop)SAALE!Label:EGG The Lovely Eggs' 2020 full-length 'I Am Moron' once again offers a delightful mixture of heavy psych, catchy pop and strangeness. CD $10 SKU:23728
LUCIFER -ST (Legendary NY wasted garage Grand Funk style)Label:HALLUCINATIONS Heavy garage rock from 1970 by this New York band, sounding at times like early Grand Funk Railroad, Uriah Heep, and Iron Butterfly with strong guitar work, and tight vocal harmonies. At times the pace is more laid back such as during the excellent version of 'Get Together.' Overall high quality late '60's rock with a psych edge and all the right guitar moves! The only legitimate CD reissue of this very rare LP on Gallo Records. CD $12 SKU:25557
ONEPERCENTRES -PLATINUM BUNDLE (ultra-catchy Japanese pop)Label:WILD PUNK Hailing from Japan, "Platinum Bundle" is a masterpiece of ultra-catchy pop with a punky edge, with arrangements close to melodic HC and emo, synthetises perfectly whats good about so different bands like THE RENTALS, REDD KROSS, WEEZER or FOUNTAINS OF WAYNE. CD $10 SKU:23305
ORANGE DROP -STONED IN LOVE (Dreamy psych acid laced sounds) SAALE! Label:MEGA DODO Hailing from Philadelphia, The Orange Drop blends dreamy psychedelia with some darker, acid-laced sounds of the '60s. Brian Jonestown Massacre fans (particularly of the early records) should appreciate The Orange Drop's approach that is both lo-fi and polished. If this is garage rock, it was made in a garage that conceals an amateur LSD lab. Orange Drop re-invents '60s psychedelia with a 21st century twist of experimentalism! CD $14 SKU:20992
SAMSARA BLUES EXPERIMENT- END OF FOREVER - STONER PSYCH , for Radio Moscow fans -Label:ELECTRIC MAGIC Samsara Blues Experiment, one of the heavyweights of German psychedelic rock are leaving the scene, but anything but silently! 'End Of Forever' consists of seven songs. Compared to the 2017 album 'One Of The Universe' - which was defined in particular by the elaborate, 15-minute title track - the listeners will again experience a very organic production and a self-reflective bow in the direction of the early days of the band, without copying themselves. What is striking is the almost equal use of keyboards and synthesizers next to the guitar, which again and again manage to create a great atmosphere, not infrequently reminiscent of bands like Pink Floyd in the seventies - not necessarily from the sound, but simply from the craftsmanship with which they manage to send the listener on a journey, where destination and return are indeterminate and solely at the discretion and imagination of the listener - if he gets involved. With 'End Of Forever' Samsara Blues Experiment created a farewell statement, which already makes you want to see them again." (Rockblog Bluesspot) CD $19 SKU:24221
SCHOBER'S CABINET - IT IS IN THE WRONG ENVELOPE (London 67-68 style psych) -Label:BAM BALAM Denis Stockhausen Von Ulm (guitars, bass, organ, vocals) and Zach Ryl (percussion) are offering us a psychedelic album, which seems to have come directly from London of 1967-1968. Recorded in their small studio, with the garage sound and mixing typical of the era, vintage guitar, the good old Farfisa organ accompaniment, and featuring a 10 minutes experimental piece at the end with a mesmerizing riff. One may indeed believe it came from the sixties! CD $10 SKU:21324
ST. MIKAEL - MIND OF FIRE (80s PSYCH) -Label:SUBLIMINAL SOUND Incredibly enough, but very naturally, after 11-years silence heres a new album by this mysterious and legendary Swedish psychedelic multi-instrumentalist. S.T. Mikael spearheaded the DIY psychedelic rock/folk movement of the late 1980s-mid-90s, with a collection of albums that now fetches up and over $1000 on Ebay. During his long absence S.T. Mikael grew more secretive and reclusive, but all the while he was still writing music. Now that hes finally back heres at last a chance for the world to join in to his psychedelic world again. The music, stretching out in many different musical directions, has been done freely and spontaneously in an extremely relaxed and happy environment, where Mikael joined forces with Dungens Reine Fiske and Fredrik Bjorling whos musical expertise now also grace the grooves. These otherworldly acid tripper recordings now exists in the real world and S.T. Mikael, proves, once again, to be a gifted songwriter and an unconventional performer with a very personal ear for acoustics and an emotional honesty seldom seen these days. Folk rocky melodic elements flow with waves of heavy fuzzphase leads, weird detached haunted vocal echoes over the band and the whole thing seems to teeter on the brink of psychedelic oblivion. Not revival either but purely of the now. You do get the feeing that Mikael actually lives the lifestyle rather than just emulating it. His soaring vocals, surreal lyrics, fragile, folky melodies, heavy fuzz riffs, mind bending soul funk and penchant for the spiritual and mystical make this altogether a fascinating voyage that is so mind twisting, soul swirling, upper psychedelic that your third eye takes you on a joyride thru an altered state! This album makes your brain start thinking in those pebble splash pond mind circular expanding waveforms that people on this vibe await the returning ship their roots sent out to bring back the password to tomorrow. A homage to LSD which helped him make the transformation possible. This is part one of a suite of two separate albums. The CD also contains 9 previously unreleased vintage recordings and an unique spoken introductions by Mikael. CD $10 SKU:25076

WITCHPIT- THE WEIGHT OF DEATH (high powered stoner rock)-Label:HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS Witchpit is a four piece sludge metal band from South Carolina whose unorthodox approach pushes the genre in exciting new directions. Their sound fuses the influence of high powered stoner rockers like High On Fire with the more moody and thoughtful work of Neurosis. With a heavy dose of tone worship and a passion for vintage gear, the band is able to conjure up classic tones that serve to bring the sound to an exciting new place. This is their debut album. CD $14 SKU:25306

BLOW MY MIND!-THE DORE, ERA, MIRA PUNK & PSYCH LEGACY-Label:BIG BEAT Liners by Alec Palao. Three of the quirkier imprints from Hollywood's heyday in the mid-1960s were the record labels Doré, Era and Mira. Like most seasoned indie producers in that epoch, their owners Lew Bedell, Herb Newman and Randy Wood struggled to get to grips with the onslaught of rock'n'roll activity that followed in the wake of the British Invasion. But amongst each company's catalogue of R&B, pop schlock and novelty discs were a number of outstanding garage and proto-psych 7" that today are sought-after collectors' items. COMP CD $28 SKU:24972

BADGE- Collected Singles -1974 low-fi, DIY psych GOLD VINYL Label:LION First time reissue for any of the Badge material
•150x hand-numbered copies on Transparent Orange (Gold) vinyl
•Comes with an eight page insert w/liner notes by Kath and Badge leader Val Rogolino and a plethora of photos from his personal stash.
Not many albums can get you in the mood to blow out your speakers quite like Kath “1”, the hideously rare and expensive 1974 low-fi, DIY psych made by members of Maryland band Badge, recorded in the home of band leader Val Rogolino (and, yes, dedicated to his girlfriend and their pet monkey!). The Kath album is full of well-written melodic songs with loose, semi-ramshackle, low-fi/no-fi production values. The fact that Badge had been a going band for awhile, and that they released several singles and EPs — written by Val and recorded the same way, on the same equipment as the Kath album, seems to have been overlooked — until now. What Patrick the Lama said in Acid Archives about Kath, is equally applicable to Badge: “Obscure and impressive melodic basement garage/psych excursion with a lo-fi atmosphere that would have most purveyors flip out… at times the vibe is almost like Mystery Meat or Index, and that's not something you run across every day… Nuts lo-fi recording quality and impossible-to-figure production values gives this a nicely zonked almost real-people vibe. Keyboards, fuzz, heap of amateur avant spirit.” LP $32 SKU:25333

BLACK SUN ENSEMBLE ST- transparent Boris purple vinyl "ABSOLUTELY stunning psych 150 hand numbered Label:RTAI/LION Their first album, reissued for the very first time with the tracks exactly as they were on the original 1985 issue on Pyknotic.
"It is difficult to think of a band that has ever produced psychedelic music that sounded even remotely like the original Black Sun's" —Byron Coley
"ABSOLUTELY stunning psych LP, first released in limited edition in 1985 on Pyknotic label and reissued on CD in 2000 by Camera Obscura (instantly sold out). Stunning fuzzy guitar, Eastern tunes, chanting, some horns here and there.... absolutely spacey psychedelic music." —Mutant Sounds
"Black Sun Ensemble offers sensual, aerial, sonic magic carpet rides laced with the steady flavor of India that will take you high above the Himalayas in your head. But this isn't plinky, incense-burning, catatonic hammock music, nor does it smell of hippie backwash and flashbacks (thought the music can be hypnotic and psychedelic). You can see forever with the Black Sun Ensemble." -CMJ New Music Report
"Jesus Acedo was the quixotic leader of Black Sun Ensemble who, on the basis of his enigmatic recordings, has been hailed by critics as one of the most innovative guitarists of our time. Born on Christmas Eve, 1962 in Tucson, Arizona, to Mexican immigrant parents, Acedo was one of eight children, the only one with an interest in music. After the death of his father in 1975, Acedo grieved by immersing himself in music. He spent most of his early adolescence at the Tucson public library listening to Ravi Shankar and Led Zeppelin records. At this time, Acedo bought a guitar. In high school, he began experimenting with the unique tunings of his guitar that give his music what one reviewer reverently called "peculiarly mystical, twangy, meditative, Middle Eastern rock sound". Muze, in describing his style, said he can "spit blasts of dragon fire or conjure the exotic, iridescent mystique of peacock feathers with a single stroke."A self-titled debut album was released by Tucson's Pyknotic Records in 1985. Its extraordinary qualities led Acedo to sign a five-year contract with England's Reckless Records, and in 1988 the label released "Black Sun Ensemble" (1988), "Lambent Flame" (1989) and "Elemental Forces" (1991). These records were a critical and commercial success. At the time, Offbeat exclaimed that BSE was "possibly, the world's coolest band.”
"Documenting the first incarnation of the Black Sun Ensemble and the only album with the group as a trio, the music hovers like buzzards in the desert over the dehydrated body of psychedelic rock, encircling their prey, waiting to feed on the corpse and draw new strength. A resulting mergence of melodic acoustic/Latin folk, Middle Eastern, raga, acid rock, and woolly feedback is given propulsion by a steady backbeat of rock bass and drums… A solemn peace envelops the mind, like peering out at the warm glow of the morning sun, heavy lidded, after a peyote-soaked night in the sweatlodge which invoked Shamanic visions and healing revelations… Solo electric guitar pyrotechnics, Arabian scorched landscapes, iridescent ragas on just electric or acoustic guitar and hand drums, and solo acoustic guitar rapture are all spices used in a tremendously savory trans-global stew." — Chris Scofield, fakeJazz website
A second BSE volume will come out in 2023 with alternate versions, which for the most part comprised the CD release of the first album when that format/edition materialized in 2000.
•Comes with a 8-page booklet, with notes by Byron Coley, BSE bassist Mike Glidewell, Rich Hopkins (songwriter, Sidewinder, and founder of San Jacinto Records), and a reproduction of a poetry volume by BSE’s Jesus Acedo. LP $35 SKU:25866

JOHNNY TRAMUNTANA-CARREAU PLEIN FER (yé-yé Sixties / '80s garage style!)Label:SOUNDFLAT Johnny Tramuntana moves between the yé-yé Sixties and the '80s garage boom, along with the Catalan sardane and a certain taste for teenage seaside fun. From universal love songs, through weird instrumentals to motorbike fantasies, dreams of California girls and tales of everyday life around the market-square, 'Carreau Plein Fer' shows a wide variety. With the exception of the cover version of Johnny Hallyday's 'Laisse Les Filles', the album has original compositions. LP $19 SKU:25226

LARD FREE- I’m Around About Midnight (1975) GATEFOLD 180 gram Label:REPLICA Recorded in Paris during a three-day session and released in 1975, Lard Free’s second LP, “I’m Around About Midnight”, encounters the band with a significantly different line up. This time, joining Gilbert Artman, is Antoine Duvernet on alto sax and flute, Alain Audat on synthesizer, and none other than Richard Pinhas - at the same moment he was making waves in Heldon - taking the helm on guitar and playing counterpoint to the drummer in a brilliant series of explorations. Launching in with a droning, synth driven cosmic soundscape - “Violez l'Espace de Son Réfrigérant” - that is pregnant with sounds of North Africa and the Middle East, the band then dives into a unique form of rhythmic prog that peppers a heady amount of humor into its brooding gloom, that shifts and evolves into different manifestations over the album’s length. Arguably the most fascinating and distinct of these are three works that stand slightly apart and establish the album’s creative range; “Tatkooz à Roulette” - primarily constructed from appreciating synths that foreshadows entire movements of electronic music that wouldn’t emerge until the 1990s - “Does East Bakestan Belong to Itself”, a wild gesture built around minimalist vibraphone lines, and “Even Silence Stops When Trains Come”, a work for piano and synth that makes interesting nods to the continuous music of Lubomyr Melnyk and works like Hans Otte's The Book of Sounds. Diverse, ambitious, and an endlessly thrilling listen, Lard Free’s “I’m Around About Midnight” is a true wonder of French electronic experimentation and prog. Replica Records’ brand-new reissue beautifully reproduces the original 1973 gatefold cover, and is pressed on 180 gr. vinyl in a limited edition of 500. Wild and not to be missed! LP $28 SKU:25459
LARD FREE- III -III- original 1973 gatefold cover-Label:REPLICA Recorded and released in 1977, one year before the band split and Gilbert Artman dedicated himself to his Urban Sax project (which notably included Werner Durand), Lard Free’s third album, “lll”, is easily their most electronic and experimental venture, and in many ways strays closest to their German counterpoints in Kosmische and the emerging Berlin School.
Cinematic and spaced out, the ensemble of synths, piano, organ, drums, vibes, guitar, and clarinet melds perfectly into a series of interwoven cosmic expanses. Rather than a series of shorter compositions that defined the album’s predecessors, here we have two long form work, taking up an entire side each.Meditative, bristling, and deeply atmospheric, while the ensemble - Jean-Pierre Thirault, Artman, Xavier Baulleret, and Yves Lanes - is fairly diverse in its instrumentation, each feels as though it has been run and process through synthesizers, creating a surprisingly cohesive and unified whole, with a series of stretched out, wild and frenetic jams, appearing almost as though psychedelic jam session we broadcast on the radio into outpace, and came back in a beautifully scrambled up form.
Absolutely killer and heady as hell, Lard Free’s third album, “lll”, is a stunning end to a body of work that carved its way across the 1970s, and was like nothing else. Thankfully, the future, as we are about to learn, was to excavate a bit more. Replica Records’ brand-new reissue of this masterstroke beautifully reproduces the original 1973 gatefold cover, and is pressed on 180 gr. vinyl in a limited edition of 500. It’s truly amazing and is poised to blow many of new listener away. LP $28 SKU:25460

NEKTAR -A Tab in the Ocean (1972 Brit acid psych prog) DOUBLE Lp Label:MISSING VINYL Did you ever wonder what would happen if a giant tab of acid was dropped into the sea? According to Roye Albrighton, Nektar’s guitarist and vocalist, they did. Albrighton and his mates parlayed their curiosity into the group’s acclaimed second album, appropriately titled “A Tab in the Ocean.” built on the sound of Nektar’s first album, Journey to the Centre of the Eye, but further emphasized a “concept” over its five tracks (the lengthiest being album opener ‘A Tab in the Ocean’) which took the band musically in a tighter, more structured and focused direction. “Official, deluxe 180 gram double LP reissue of the second album (dating from 1972) by the legendary British psychedelic progressive group, that was based in Germany. The extra LP contains 4 excellent psychedelic bonus tracks from 1972-1973, which have remained unreleased on vinyl until now. Expertly remastered from the original master tapes. Limited edition in deluxe gatefold cover.” LP $34 SKU:21011
NEURAS -WICKED (70s power pop style) Label:FAMILY SPREE The Neuras have been working on their career for several years and have succeeded in mixing influences from Elvis Costello, The Kinks, The Who, Paul Weller/The Jam, Californian power pop of the late '70s, and Tamla Motown. OLIVER- STANDING STONE 1974 Welsh cult mind bending rarity -Label:GUERSSEN Now reissued is a Welsh cult private pressing rarity, originally from 1974. Farmer and part-time musician Oliver Chaplin recorded this mind bending album on a portable 4-track Teac reel-to-reel machine, assisted by his brother Chris, an experienced BBC engineer who was involved in sessions with a.o. Syd Barrett. Oliver sang and played acoustic and electric guitars, and plenty of effects were used to create a very unique kind of DIY mutant-psychedelic-blues (think Captain Beefheart) which sounded years ahead of its time. Though the original LP was pressed in an edition of only 250 copies, it caught the attention of a.o. Virgin Records and J.J. Cale, but Oliver decided not to get tangled up in the music industry. 'Standing Stone' is recommended to fans of a.o. Captain Beefheart, Syd Barrett, Fresh Maggots, Comus, Magical Power Maco and Brian Eno. LP $30 SKU:25299
OZ KNOZZ -Ruff Mix( US 70s private press hard rock/prog)Label:OZONE First legit reissue of one of the best US private press hard rock/progressive rock albums of the 1970s. Formed in 1969 in Houston, TX, Oz Knozz's original crew included multi-instrumentalists Jack Alford, Bill Massey and Duane Massey. Alford left the group in 1971 and was replaced by drummer Marty Naul, while the next year the trio was joined by guitarist Richard Heath. The band had also a three-man horn section, which was dropped quite fast, although horns remained a part of the band's sound, even on their rare and epochal 1975 private press debut ''Ruff Mix,” released on the band’s own Ozone label.“Ruff Mix” mainly grooves in Hard Rock territory—the second track 'Peanut Butter Yoni' sounds a bit like Judas Priest with a proto-Metal feeling; but the album also has elements of Progressive Rock, Horn Rock and Pomp Rock. Like most bands of the era, the idea was to throw out a few different styles to see if something would stick… the theory being that a major label would hear the private album by chance and sign said band so they could open for Led Zeppelin or Foghat's next US tour… or something like that. What separates Oz Knozz from others is a strong compositional component, the band have plenty of original ideas and muster superb instrumentation. The guitar work ranges from hard and powerful to melodic and bluesy and is supported by some great keyboard, including awe-inspiring organ and synth waves. The three-part 15-minute 'Doodley Squat’ suite features heavy dual keyboard parts, crunchy guitars and expressive vocals; the result is a terrific Hard Prog track with lot of energy. For many, the standout track is the groovy and infectious horn rocker, which sounds as dated as the movement itself and easily could have been from 1969. High energy and impressive songwriting LP $22 SKU:21411
RIALZU -U Rigiru-OFFICIAL VINYL REISSUE OF 1978 PROG/ZEUHL MONSTER-Label:PQR-Disques File under: Magma, Wapassou, Catharsis, Jacula, Current 93, Death in June, Tindersticks, Coph Nia Recorded and originally released in 1978, Rialzu’s first and only album is rightfully considered by savvy collectors as a hidden gem from the versatile French progressive rock scene. Firmly rooted in Magma-esque (“Köhntarkösz" period) dark matter, it deviates from Zeuhl towards a stultifying eeriness that is so bewilderingly fresh — and in a sense makes this a proto goth-rock masterpiece. Spearheaded by a mesmerizing interplay between baritone and soprano vocals, an assemblage of sinister instrumental twists and turns constantly undermines and postpones the possibility of catharsis. In between an ode to spectrality and vainly ruminating invocations, U Rigiru might as well have been composed by a group of Gregorian singers who are fans of Jacula. This is a truly eclectic masterpiece to be cherished by Zeuhl fans, as well as by Goth aficionados and Cold Meat Industry diehard fans. U Rigiru in Corsican is a circular endeavor, a self-referential leap from and into an existential angst-ridden enclave, enshrouded in a celestial abyss. Darkness baked right in to the name of the album. LP $34 SKU:25002
ROXY- ST -1973 Power pop GREG SHAW FAVE (sealed original, with drill hole) ORIG PRESS Label:Elektra This album should get its positive due for yielding some catchy and spirited pop songs.
Perhaps some of the overhype can be traced to Bomp magazine editor Greg Shaw who in the liner notes to 1973's Dudes album on CBS went overboard in his praise. There is a great composition on this self titled album by Roxy, and that is 'Yesterday's Song,' a pretty, eerie, moody, well sung, well constructed, well performed piece of music surrounded by other well-performed tunes which are competent, but not the next coming. LP $14 SKU:25536
SCAMPOLO- UNDER THE RAINBOW (1968 Hungarian rock/and roll rarity ) GATEFOLD SAALE! Label:MOIRAS Limited edition of 330 copies, housed in a nice gatefold sleeve! It's a twist of fate that it took the first rock'n'roll band that reached star status in Hungary 48 years to release their first album. At the beginning of the 1960s the band was the most popular among the few Hungarian rock'n'roll groups, their shows' atmosphere was often quite heated. The band existed until the early '80s except for some short pauses and with a few changes in the lineup. The first Scampolo album represents the period between 1968 and 1970 when they left their rock'n'roll roots behind and played a repertoire that was unique in Hungary. It consisted partly of British and American progressive rock and soul hits, partly of their own compositions. These were collected from studio, rehearsal and concert recordings. LP $19 SKU:24235
SEX PISTOLS - SPUNK: THE DEMOS 1976-1977-Label:RADIATION In the history of punk, the Sex Pistols reign supreme; the anarchic quartet changed the history of popular culture forever with their caustic rupture of rock, a mixture of shock and awe that gave two fingers to the establishment, kick-starting a musical revolution. Recorded a few months before their 'Never Mind The Bollocks' debut, 'Spunk' is a revelation, raw demos cut in late 76 and early 77 by producer Dave Goodman, with Glen Matlock's bass far more melodic than what Sid Vicious cut on 'Bollocks'; this edition has bonus demos of 'Anarchy' and 'Pretty Vacant' cut at Denmark Street, as well as an unedited 'No Fun.' Absolutely crucial! LP $26 SKU:25290
SOULS OF INSPYRATAION -ST- (1970 psych jewel reissue 2022) ORANGE VINYL SAALE!~ Label:LION Sought after 1970 Columbia Records release— and deservedly so, with stellar keyboard-driven, melodic songs, strong vocals, and an overall sense of cohesion. Terrific acoustic driven songs like 'Eyes of Nature' and 'Sun Shines in the Winter’ merge beautifully with hard-edged, progressive-tinged offerings like 'Dil Kusha (Heart's Happiness) and 'Of Lambs and Wolves.' Beautiful 12-page insert booklet. Now's the time to discover this beautiful aberration, one of the unspoiled jewels of the late psychedelic era — on vinyl cut from 24-bit/96kHz transfers of the master tapes! LP $24 SKU:25100
STRAWBERRY PATH -WHEN THE RAVEN HAS COME TO EARTH (70s Japanese heavy psych blues)Label:ABSINTHE Reissue on LP of debut album by Japanese HEAVY PSYCHEDELIC blues rock band from the early '70s. SUGAR BEAR -ST (1972 super rare rural rock/swamp psych)Label:VOID A charming chunk of super rare rural rock/swamp psych from the Sunshine state, c. 1972 — released as a private pressing on the Gaff label and later bootlegged by the execrable Radioactive outfit. Sugar Bear were a four-piece from Florida featuring guitarist John McLaughlin — no, not that one (Mahavishnu John McLaughlin), another one! — named after the hip American 1970s singing and guitar playing cartoon character. The album is typically described as a blend of rural rock, and country rock. But hey, the term ''rural rock'' covers quite a lot, from swampy rock ’n' roll to country rock in the style of The Outlaws or Pure Prairie League. In this instance, Sugar Bear produced an album of high originality, defying categorization. This is a record of real depth and intelligence, covering many styles, and with some psychedelic touches to note. There is some slow and some fast material (a blend that is far from unusual), with a few Grateful Dead moves too. Still not sure? Some people say when describing this album to “think of a cross line between Jefferson Airplane and the Byrds, with drops of Santana.” Legitimate 450x copy pressing on black vinyl, with insert. LP $22 SKU:25173

UMBRA -ST ((heavy, heavy music from the start of the 'American Comedown Era) Label:LION Lion ltd ed of 300 LP edition comes with an 8-page LP-sized color booklet, with lyrics, photos, plus interesting and funny things that can only happen to musicians, and did to Umbra. What was available to unknown hard rocking dreamers like Umbra in Denver in 1971-72? Weekend gigs. Nothing but weekend gigs. But there was an upside to that: bands like Umbra could mix original material in with covers, and make enough money to survive. Or in the case of Umbra, to make enough money to build a home studio, where they recorded ads to promote their upcoming shows -- and eventually, laid down the eight tracks on this disc. Everything was recorded by bouncing tracks back and forth between two-track and four-track reel-to-reel tape recorders. Spacey intros and weird effects were created by recording guitar licks, then re-recording them played backwards at double speed. What sounds like a flute was the result of blowing over the top of a 14" goose neck (believe it or not). The resulting tracks are hard edged and heavy, verging on acid rock at times. Makes sense, as Umbra was a power trio most of their too-brief existence. Yet the songs (heavy though they are) have a deft touch. There are weird effects, space rock elements, plenty of melody, and a refreshing category-free approach to writing songs that makes Umbra's music exciting to hear. We know that band bios can be sterile and boring or can move to the opposite spectrum, rife with grandiose embellishment. Umbra's story is neither. Instead, it is the story is the story of a band from the early 1970's who recorded what they wanted to record: heavy, heavy music from the start of the 'American Comedown Era' (as we've seen it described by friends for their Brown Acid series of compilations). Umbra's story is also that of a band whose music, terrific though it is, has never to this point been released out into the wide world. Prepare yourselves to be surprised -- and we hope as impressed as we are -- by what Umbra had to offer. First ever release of any recordings by this fascinating heavy rock group from Colorado. LP $25 SKU:25099

WHITE LIGHT (UK)-PARABLE (private press garage psych 1974)Label:SOMMER On vinyl, here's a reissue of the superb 1974 X-ian private press garage-psych LP by a band from Glasgow. Featuring raw fuzz guitar, Vox Continental organ sounds, a healthy dose of feedback and influences from The Who as well as Black Sabbath and tough bluesrock, WHITE LIGHT didn't spread the message of The Lord in church, but at loud clubs and big rock venues. In 1972 the guys were finalists in a talent contest organized by Melody Maker magazine. The band's album includes the side-long title-track which has to be heard to be believed. In Hans Pokora's '7001 Record Collectors Dream' guide 'Parable' has been given the maximum rarity scale rating. This reissue includes an insert with liner notes and photos. LP $25 SKU:23551
YAPS -PUNK DIRECTO DE LAS MONTANAS (Ramones/ Damned style) -Label:RADIATION Heavily influenced by The Ramones and The Damned, Los Yaps had been shredding around Mexico since the early '80s. At that time punk began to penetrate the marginalized areas of Mexico City and the band started to practice even though they did not know how to play an instrument. Over the years Yaps changed several line-ups but still they created this unique sound leading them to tour with Total Chaos and open up for main acts such as Ramones, GBH, Exploited, Eskorbuto and many more. This LP includes the 'S/T' 7" from 1988 and the 'Tu Sentencia' LP from 1990. Mexican punk at its best! Released in cooperation with the original members and the sole rights' holders (Bam Bam Discos). Comes on red vinyl. LP $25 SKU:25239
